the g43 X with the 15 rail capacity let's check it out [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] the g43 X and the G 48 are a 10-round single-stack magazine they're much thinner than some of the larger glock pistols very similar to the same dimensions as your g 43 but with a higher mag capacity one of the great things about the g 43 X and the G 48 is that it has a full sized grip a little bit thinner than your standard Glock but definitely very ergonomic and very easy to shoot but again it was limited to 10 rounds while your sig P 3 65 came out it was much smaller and yet only had 10 rounds then shield Arms came out with their s 15 magazine this is a 15-round magazine that goes right into your G 43 X the great thing is is once you insert it it's the exact same size there's no hangover there's no extension even though shield harps does offer a five round extension but this really matches this to the G 19 which has a 15 round magazine as well but it's a much larger handgun the guys I'll tell you right up front these are extremely popular and shield arms having a hard time filling all the orders so they're typically out of stock but there's a good reason why because this is really a game changer for the G 43 X and the G 48 now we set the original G 43 X magazines to shield arms to help them to develop the S 15 so we were really excited when we got the package in the mail when they sent us some of these magazines and their magazine release now when the Glock 43 X and 48 were introduced they did come with the standard polymer magazine and they were criticized for only coming out with 10 rounds right on the heels of the Sig p3 65 which held 10 rounds it was just a lot smaller pistol these are single stack and you can see the witness holes in the back but one big thing that limits the Glock magazine is that it has a still insert with polymer that's all around the outside and so this is Glocks way of making magazines just the way they have for all their different models and so it really does limit it because it does expand there is a layer of plastic or polymer on all sides and so to get this into a smaller configuration you just don't have enough room here with the shield arms s15 you'll notice it's all metal but the big thing is is that it fits without all that polymers so it gives it more room on the inside of the magazine and so that is a huge plus so while Glock may not come out with this type magazine it's great to see aftermarket companies putting out this and shield arms has really done a great job everything I've seen so far has just been hugely positive and so we're gonna take a look we're gonna go out and shoot quite a few rounds through these and test them now one thing about polymer is it's thicker on the sides and so we've relieved that going with all steel but now we have the dimension on the outside and so shield arms actually has a rib right here at the front of the magazine as a filler and so this is going to give you a better fit now let's go ahead and make sure that the guns are unloaded and they are so we have 15 rounds in the shield arms we have 10 rounds in the standard Glock magazine or OEM magazine and this is really a game-changer what I'm really hoping for is that shield arms will move ahead in fact they're already working on some other designs for different pistols and we'll see when that comes out but guys right now they're barely able to keep up in fact they can't keep up with the production in the demand of these magazines now these are actually made by checkmate which has been a company that's made magazines for a long time in fact they've been making government contract magazines for a number of years and so this is a magazine that you know already has a good reputation has a beautiful blue finish to it and the base plates a little different than the Glock it has these little grooves right here where you can pull out on the Glock here to pull out on the front of the magazine and so that's just a little bit of a difference but I do like these little ribs in case you have a malfunction you can strip that mag right here but you can see I mean it's a very beautifully finished and really high-quality magazine and it has the orange follower a little deeper red than the original Glock but the Glock uses a polymer mag release and so going against steel you're gonna get somewhere now one of the things that shield arms have said is that putting the magazine in and out doesn't really increase the wear that much when the gun is recalling on the magazine it actually wears then so typically you can use one of these for probably about a thousand rounds maybe less but you're going to see some wear on it pretty quickly so shield arms came out with their own mag release this is an aluminum mag release that fits right in in fact we've already got it installed in the g43 it has some checkering right here which is really nice a little bit better than the standard mag release and you can use this with your standard 10-round magazines as well so it does work and it does pop them right out I mean it's just really solid and so this is gonna give you a better fit too because this magazine release is designed to give your shield arms magazine that just right fit into the gun and then up here where the bullets are coming out it's just gonna allow it to feed better the tolerances are actually better now at this point right now they only make it for right hand but they are working on a magazine release that will actually switch to the other side with the magazine cuts but that's coming down the road now one of the things that shield arm says is that with the silver slides which is the early model g43 x and g 48 is that the springs are just a little bit different when they have the black slide they've just had a couple of improvements and so you may find that you need to switch out that mag release sooner than later with these older models now comparing these mags side-by-side they're identical in height and honestly even in width and then with this rib on the front it adds a little bit to the front you can see where the cuts are this is a hole that's actually cut through and this is just a cavity but over time you can imagine this metal mag hitting that mag release is gonna do somewhere and so just great to go ahead and change out that mag release and I think they're like $24.99 here you can see the top pretty much the same follower just a little bit different not as thick with that polymer coming up on the sides of the Glock mag now here I have one of my G 43 s and of course the g4 DX just expanded that grip a little bit in the width and it allowed for 10 rounds which we have six rounds here in the G 43 but you can actually interchange the slides on these too it's the same fit for either one which makes it really nice and then - you can actually change it even for the g48 so it gives you a lot of different options honestly if I already had a g43 I would probably opt to get the G 48 because I could switch it and have a chi 43 X and a G 48 and I can go back to the G 43 but with wise they are super close and that really makes it nice it's a really thin package and guys honestly my G 19 holds 15 rounds plus one the G 43 X with the shield arms mags is 15 plus 1 but look at the difference I mean it's a considerable difference in width of the slide width of the grip is definitely difference but you're getting the same length on the grip with the G 43 eggs you're getting a little shorter slide but with the G 48 it's actually silhouette the exact same as your Glock 19 and again you've got a really thin pistol that you can have 15 plus 1 or you can go the thicker Glock 19 with the 15 plus one and now I'm not telling you to get rid of your Glock 19 because these are awesome but still I'm telling you guys this really makes a huge difference with the G 43 X and the G 48 now a friend of mine is borrowing my p3 65 right now so I didn't have it but I do have the p3 65 with the long slide and this holds 12 plus one whereas the p3 65 is ten plus one and that was a real game changer when sig introduced the p3 65 series because it's the same sized pistol as your Glock 43 especially in the standard p3 65 series in fact it's actually a little smaller and you have six rounds versus ten and so that was a huge coup for sig and even when block came out with the g 43 X this long slide is still about the same size as the G 43 X and yet you have 12 rounds versus 10 rounds you add the shield arms s 15 mag and now you have 15 plus 1 versus the larger P 365 which still only holds 12 and there's no extension on the grip which makes it really cool now with the P 365 L you have a pretty full grip I mean you're gonna have a little bit especially that bigger hands you're gonna have a little bit of slip off with your pinky but with the Glock G 43 it gives you a full grip just like it would with the 19 it's a little thinner but it definitely gives you that full-size grip your standard Glock G 43 X mag 2.2 ounces the SP 15 shield arms mag 2.2 ounces now we're going to do some shooting with both the G 43 X with the metal mag release installed from shield arms and then we're going to do the G 48 with the standard mag release and we're just going to see if we get somewhere on the G 48 mag release plus we're just gonna go ahead and test out the reliability and just some of the durability of these magazines now we have about 500 rounds we're gonna take down to the range you just do some initial testing and we're using this Lula loader which makes it really nice we do have three magazines also which I really do appreciate the guys that filled orange for sending those but of course loading it by hand no problem just like your standard gun magazine they just load well guys after we got finished shooting no malfunctions at all slide holding open every time one thing I love is the magazine just drops free every time you hit it yet that mag release whether on the metal mag release or on the polymer mag release that we had on the g48 I did shoot the g43 Exmoor just because I wanted to you know with that mag release I felt better about it I didn't feel like I was damaging but we're gonna take a look at the mag release of the polymer we're just gonna see what it looks like before we install the metal which I highly recommend and so you know just gives you more reliability but easy drop the magazines are easy to load just like your standard metal 15-round magazine and balloon loaders obviously work which is a great thing but overall just had a great time down here and I was really hoping for that and I'll tell you it was just it's just beautiful [Applause] now the righties are polymer om mag release and then we have the shield arms mag release this metal right here that right here is where you're gonna get the wear and really after about a hundred rounds we didn't have but just a little bit of scuffing on the end but they said it should probably go about a thousand rounds and so here you're gonna have a reinforced lip right here to hold it into place and this is a definite must for long-term reliability so make sure you do that if you use this you never know when this is gonna just wear but so far it's really not done too much now you can see that little v-shape down there this little pin goes all the way down to the bottom it holds the mag catch into place now because of YouTube's crazy policies we can't really show the installation or taking it apart but you just take it move it over to the right on the frame then you can pull out the pin with a pair of pliers little needlenose pliers and then you can drop out your mag release now if you've ever taken a glock maggot you know that it's a real pain to get this base plate off because there are tabs on either side that hold the magazine into place and you have to press and then pull forward once you push in this little release right here but with the sig arms we're gonna take this one apart you have the same little piece right here you just push down and then push your faceplate right off I mean it is so simple now you do have your spring one of the things that sealed arms also does is offer Springs for life and if this spring starts to get weak you can send it in and they'll send you a brand new one and that's pretty cool and that just comes with the price of the firearm we have the metal body which is very well constructed beautiful finish here we have the base plate and of course we have those tabs we do have markers underneath so you can identify your magazine one of the things that Magpul does in a lot of bears and I really like this feature and then here at the end of the spring this is our tab that holds it into place and it's actually cut out to fit the spring right here so it remains stable and here we have our follower that fits at the top of the spring which is again very well finished the spring is a standard a coil spring and it'll just fit right here into this little baseplate now for reassembly just set in your follower into the spring up into the magazine get your base plate or your locking plate bring it down and then with the spring depressed just bring over your base plate depress snap right into place excellent as 99% of the magazines out there are the metal magazines so it's no wonder that they work now a lot of you know we sent the original G 43 X and G 48 mags for shield arms to do their testing and so it was really nice for them to send three mags for us to do this review and a couple of metal mag releases but I wanted to show you the package just again very well done very professional I'm gonna open up one that we're gonna - both but I want just to show you did you get your mag you get a card that comes with it and you know there's a lot of information on their website as well so you can check that out but one thing I will tell you is if you register on their website when they do have stock available they'll notify you and you can order them but I don't think there's any kind of pre-orders or holding back orders I think you just have to order it when they come in the guys these things are so popular and there's a lot of reasons why and guys if that wasn't enough chilled arms is also offering a +5 baseplate extension to coast on their magazine so you can carry the G 43 X or G 48 with 15 rounds and a backup with 20 rounds now the S 15 magazines are running $39.99 on the shield arms website but they are running out as soon as they get a new order in and so guys just keep your eyes peeled I'm sure that these will be available more readily once all the excitement kind of tones down some but these are great little mags another thing is they do have a lifetime warranty on these mags and they have springs for life so if you buy one of these magazines and you wear out the spring you can send it back and get a fresh new spring from shield arms and these are all made right in the USA so guys while the g43 x and g 48 are excellent handguns in themselves very thin very ergonomic full-size grip when you replace that magazine with one of the shield s 15 mags this changes everything and so now instead of carrying my g 19 it's much larger I have the exact same capacity with a much thinner smaller handgun and guys this makes an excellent concealed carry and yet you can even carry this is your full-size carry with 15 plus one you're good to go and again I want to thank shield arms for sending the S 15 magazines we have been trying to get these for a while and guys I'll tell you what we were not disappointed guys if you depend on a firearm for self defense whether concealed carry or even home defense having some kind of legal protection is vital I'm a member of the u.s. CCA I've been a member for the past three years and it is just peace of mind you know that someone has your back if you ever get yourself in a tough situation where you have to draw your firearm and guys I'm telling you if you are carrying concealed you should definitely have some kind of legal protection now I have a link down below in the description to the US CCA membership page it is an affiliate link and I know that if anything ever goes down I have a friend with us CCA be strong be of good courage god bless america long live the Republic [Applause] [Music] in that sub sub compared with the Glock typically your to pull out on the front whoops but with the p3 but with the sig but with the Glock and we have our follower right here that fits at the top of the spring for reassembly we just the G for the G 43 X with a 15-round capacity capacity capacity capacity
