Shellback Tactical "Banshee" Plate Carrier: TNPrs Save 15%

you know this has been a great little reviewing table is built by lifetime and it has withstood over six years of reviewing abuse always ask for more all right little table you ask you get that is the Banshee by Shellback tactical and the table didn't fall down yet you of course are watching the nutnfancy project and on occasion not too frequently I will review stuff like this stuff for your systems maybe your military member F CLE responsible Sylvain sheepdog you might be interested in this review now I do not have unlimited resources and that's why perhaps you won't see other makes and models of tactical load-bearing equipment come before the camera and honestly I don't have unlimited needs for such gear what I'm saying is I find brands at work brands I like brands that represent outstanding levels of value and that's what I bring to you Shellback tactical is one of those brands and they are a sister company pretty much the same company the way I look at it as tactical Assault gear tag and for you guys that do not like overseas produced gear this is 100% made in America yes like we'll talk about value you're going to pay a little more for that there's no get around it when you pay a US workforce you pay more for the product there are a few exceptions not too many what does this do and what's it for nothing fancy good question so glad you asked because that will lead is right into a short discussion on versatility and philosophy of use do you need a plate carrier well I'm going to say I sure hope to hell not because if you need a plate carrier specially level for rifle plate carrier that means you are in the crap that you have a high likelihood of getting shot so no but a lot of team peers go in harm's way there's a lot serving duty still overseas in Afghanistan yeah there's a need now I'm going to assume that you have some unit flexibility that you are able to run the plate carry you want I don't know what you need unit you're in and what their policies are I would definitely look at this one so if you think you're going to take a round in the chest yeah I'm wearing armor but remember here comes again philosophy which I'm known for balanced firepower versus mobility and this is what I'm going to start off with and this is always interesting and it lays a realistic foundation not some fantasy video game based foundation of when and if you would need this let's take this for instance this is a level 4 composite rifle plate it weighs about 8 pounds ok you can see it's contoured it is comfortable however it is extremely heavy as I've said many times before 2 of these plus your rifle ammo and whatever else you're put in here is going to be heavy so if you say hey man I want rifle plate I want to carry it around my answer will be how's your cardio are you in shape enough to carry it around you know if you don't work out and you don't take care of yourself and you have bad joints and you're carrying the other gear maybe you don't need this at all that's what I'm saying you bit better be you know you'd be better off running away or extricate yourself from that situation this type of gear is meant for the sheepdogs of the world people that have to go in harm's way and sometimes just sometimes they have to armor up to this level level for rifle plate we'll talk about some of the ballistic options I have on the table and I've discussed them before in other videos so I hope you don't need this but if you do this is an outstanding option and this is probably a good point where I'll say if I haven't already there's lots of great options out there a lot of outstanding options Shellback tactical tag I've reviewed condor 511 they are definitely not the only games in town there's Blackhawks on on it goes I mean dang there's so many brands I almost think some of these companies are going to fail because it can't make money with a military drawdown going on that's where they got a lot of their their dough some contracts now back to the philosophy of use this does not have a ton of real estate on it it's actually a trim easy to wear easy to take off play carrier its primary job is of course to provide armor for your thorax the vitals you don't have a ton of room to run a pistol up here you don't have a ton of real estate on the side there are other options I reviewed that perhaps have more by the way if you're wondering this is not tagged this is a 5-11 rifle you know Mac pocket that I snapped on there two of them actually just because what I had in stock almost matches the color not quite actually like this one we'll talk more about the colors a little bit better than that one so if you want something trim you need the plate whatever level you want level three level four you don't need a ton real estate great option for you it is easy to carry and it is lightweight two pounds ten ounces naked yes I've reviewed some stuff that's much lighter than that namely blue force gear which is very high speed and very lightweight and I love it the blue force gear has the advantage of being able to be worn under normal clothing so you could wear a lightweight windbreaker be carrying six eight magazines plus pistol and no one would even know it this one could probably do the same thing but it might be a little bit bulkier depending on what's plates you're running it it does not have armor I'm sorry it does not have water integration so there's not a dedicated water pocket for it kind of like the other tack stuff that I have reviewed which I love and you see me wear a lot and I think I have one here so I do have tons of experience with a brand this is a phalanx type for chestrig with the magnetic kangaroo pockets for pistol mag hall-of-famer right here hall-of-famer love it just said before if you're really small or really a big fella you might have some issues other than that it will fit you let's see how we put this thing on it's going to be pretty standard actually from what we've seen with other rigs and this is a great time to look at the quality of Shellback tactical stuff remember made in the US look at the stitching the spacing on the Molly is like perfection there's no weird variances like we've seen in I don't know Condor yeah Condor Mali is kind of all over the map sometimes your pouch will fit sometimes it won't military specs material screwing through this is the same stuff I used in the Air Force this velcro it's the same milspec stuff so this is your cumberbund attaches like so and I usually when I swim into this thing I'll throw it over the shoulders I'll have it pre adjusted for how much gear I already have on maybe I'm wearing a layer a gore-tex jacket or something you might run it under the jacket that's up to you but then you can't access your rifle pouches and I'll keep one side clipped and I'll swim into it so here's your adjustment you have a fast txt buckle pretty standard you have a belt keeper here if you want to attach to your duty belt so we'll stay in position and won't write up I never did that but you could and then once you have these adjusted it will expand and contract a little bit with you and then your cummerbund I think is also elasticized back here so again expanding and contracting depending on your shooting position what type of activity you're engaged in cool hey well this velcro wear out over time yeah they all will i have tactical rigs where they're kind of getting worn you know from all the TNR we do here in TMP lots of acronyms I know up the plate pockets let's look at that and a lot of team peers when I reviewed the dkx level four they were lamenting the fact they couldn't find a plate carrier that would accept them and I'm showing you one right here by the way that's a TMP I'll patch back in stock by popular demand website at the top and yes we're going to order more have no fear shirt so stand by and again if you find this video year from now sorry things could have changed this patch will be probably long gone okay so this is a dkx level 4 rifle plate and it weighs pretty much nothing it is however thick so that's going to mean you're going to need a plate carrier that can accept it this is what I'm talking about in case you don't know I'm sorry 3 I said for my mistake this floats by the way go watch my review on the dkx they are insane I mean which would you rather carry dude 8 pounds or what 1 pound 15 ounces something like that yeah I'll take this yeah it might be a little bit thicker but check it out here's your plate pocket fits perfect retains easy simple again perfect stitching webbing everything is just perfection on this now you could run something else maybe you say hey I don't need rifle protection I want to go with something lighter weight well again I'm concentrate on dkx brand because I love it so much this is a 3a it'll defeat pretty much every pistol round out there and look how thin featherweight so you want a comfortable rig and it provides sternum protection so you're not going to get an indentation injury in the play pocket it goes you won't even know it's there dude you won't speaking from experience I've been running rigs like this including this one I go did I put armor in it and I turn right you know it turns out I have either this one in or what you see in the background some level three soft armor which I've talked about through the years yeah I still got these they're awesome they're level three also will defeat most pistol rounds out there I have that run in the back pocket right here so you just have to decide firepower versus mobility and if you do need ultimate protection I recommend gun dkx little side review there what else one thing I thought they might be able to do better in this rig is that size it for and have a way to change it in case I want to run a pure rectangular rig on the back I should say plate on the back so let's flip it over here's the backside of the Banshee I want to run this plate I can do it but I want to have to drop it down like this I'd prefer the pocket would be sized especially on the back where a dude can run a pure rectangular plate on it just a fun just a fun talked about the weight already the colorations on this thing are excellent this is Ranger green it is also available in black coyote multicam and a tax not all of them at once in fact I think they do just certain runs here and there with the Banshee you just pick your color I'm really diggin Ranger green these days I don't know why it's just that reversal color it looks good it's not too militaristic it just depends what do you mean militaristic I don't know if you ever had to wear a play carrier externally to your clothing now maybe there'd be a situation you don't want to scream military or survivalist or whatever black might be the best color ultimately for that although it is kind of a SWAT color that's the back side as you can see and then that will flex it into special features not too much it's pretty simple actually there's your drag handle you have loops for Sai loom sticks comm cords whatever and these your shoulder straps they are adjustable there's fast release buckle here so you can pop out of the rig if you need to if your buddy's injured he's wearing this you can get them out I think pretty quickly although you'll have to undo that velcro cumberbund you can get shoulder straps for these if you're carrying a lot of weight and you think you need them I generally shy away because they create this bulkiness in the shoulder area which translates to bulkiness in the shooting shoulder so if I'm trying to seat the the butt of my rifle it gets in the way I'd almost be tempted to if this drag handle wasn't here to reverse this buckle so this this portion here was smoother see that I shot with it and I found it it wasn't that big of a problem but I on the other tagged gear I say tag Shellback tactical same thing I reverse the buckles that way I have a completely clean shoulder again for mounting and in force whatever you're running other special features lots of morale patch area as you can see and Molly on the front that's about it doesn't have like any cool mesh on the inside that's good and bad and if you go don't what I'm talking about I'm talking about like a mesh interior which helps push some air inside so you're not sweating up a storm the that's kind of bad in one way is in another way it's good because all that can pick up weeds and seeds and all types of screen and it's almost impossible to get it out so these days I'm kind of leaning towards this does have a side pocket and it will accept 7 by 8 sappy plates isapi in your side pocket if you want and you do have some real estate here I guess it's not like totally skosh on places to put pockets just depends how big you are how skinny or if you're skinnier and how this much real estate if your big old boy you might have that which might be good just saying this is a very compliant piece of gear by the way and I think it's produced by blind people uh-huh yeah they seem to do a pretty awesome job on it though I'll tell you what quality is off the charts probably better than some of the other brands I've reviewed like Condor Condor is a high value brand it is produced in China I like Condor stuff for the money it's bangin the mo PC that Condor puts together like a review years ago amazing but quality on this is tops you are however going to pay for it like I said at the outset not exactly free but nothing that's really really awesome usually is if you use that discount code that is again for a limited time I think you'll be happy with it get your favorite color how's the track record um how about pretty awesome and I'm talking across the entire Shellback tactical lineup meaning that there's several law enforcement agencies that use it they love it I think it's endorsed by LAPD but to me that means nothing sorry LAPD I don't care I mean every gear acquisition you do is so politicize it's ridiculous that's right I said it but it has served in several theatres of war by individual soldiers and I've read good reports on it all the Shellback tactical stuff is amazing so do you need a dedicated plate carrier I don't know that's up to you to decide personally I like it in the inventory that's right I like either this style or a full one like I've reviewed and shown you before that's actually more preferred because has more real estate I can run horizontal pistol with it but if you need something high-speed low-drag great option by the way these 511 pouches are excellent I like them they're fine they weave quick they lock in I know you guys wanted so I got to do them in a review the coloration is a little bit different like I mentioned it's a little dark Rhodey this is more of a Ranger green I like this color better it's close enough that's a net in fancy review highly recommended see ya
