for several years now it's felt as if certain Hollywood Productions are being made with the knowledge that certain aspects of them will piss off a portion of the audience base the culture wars within pop culture entertainment have been made possible by the inclusion or more accurately the intrusion of Lefty woke political ideology and agendas that polarize audiences and seek to marginalize or even demonize those who don't subscribe to them this article is from bounding into Comics She-Hulk star says series exists as an Fu to critics head writer boasts part of me really loves trolling the trolls how delightful sounds like just purposely alienating a section of fans of the superhero genre who have previously been loyal and paid good money over the years to see the content and buy things like merchandise for example now this section of the audience is being picked on why why not just produce a series that's aimed at everyone well we'll get to that later the article continues to the surprise of absolutely no one who watched even a minute of the Disney plus series She-Hulk attorney at Law's lead actress Tatiana maslani head writer Jessica GAO and director cat coiro have confirmed that the development of the Marvel Cinematic universe's latest entry was predicated entirely on making fun of their own straw man interpretations of dissatisfied male Marvel fans the trio provided this insight into their live action take on the J giantis during a post-season finale interview given to variety speaking first with maslani the trade news Outlet asked the She-Hulk star how it felt to see said finale tackled some of the exact same trolling comments that Marvel fans have been making to which she praised Jessica GAO is a genius and knows about the culture we're living in and her position in it when she's writing these stories about a woman's superhero she knows what that response is going to be added to the Jennifer Walters actress as a cast it was delightful sending each other these troll responses like oh my God give them a week and then they're going to literally see see this pop-up verbatim in the show and become the villains of the show it was thrilling this is so unbelievably juvenile in my opinion but actually quite shocking when you think about it because at the end of the day the studio should be concerned about this attitude let's say for example you worked in a corporation and you were deliberately messing with the company's product in order to annoy customers you'd be understandably and quite rightfully fired why not just make a TV series that the entirety of the audience base can enjoy and appreciate why deliberately go out of your way to trigger a negative reaction from a section of the audience it should also be considered that that section of the audience that they're trolling is much more significant than they realize if I were them I would be a bit more concerned about that 35 audience score on Rotten Tomatoes because I think it speaks volumes met with a follow-up question of whether or not she was expecting to face the trolls when you signed on for the show maslani asserted reading the script it was so true there's so much resistance to a woman just existing in the space of superheroes what other is that that is nonsense how many female superheroes have we had over the last few decades tons lots of them that fans love the only resistance is resistance to dislikable characters male or female the protagonist of the series is Jen who is shallow narcissistic and condescending as well as being emotionally brittle your anger well here's the thing Bruce I'm great at controlling my anger I do it all the time but when I'm cat called in the street oh this has to be a joke when incompetent Men explain my own area of expertise to me I do it pretty much every day because if I don't I will get called emotional or difficult or might just literally get murdered so I'm an expert at controlling my anger because I do it infinitely more than you Bruce Banner has been through a whole hell of a lot worse than cat calling Jen is hardly a strong female role model and to make matters worse men are depicted in the show as being either arrogant jerks or weak betas I agree with the critical Drinker it's hard not to get a sense of spite against men in this series as if the writers are projecting their own Hang-Ups onto the characters let's continue there's always going to be that she added I sort of anticipated it it's why I also feel it's important there's such an entitlement to space held by certain people and to even exist as She-Hulk is like a Fu and I love that talk about believing your own press the show is garbage it's not going to be remembered as some groundbreaking television that broke some imaginary glass ceiling anyway I'll skip ahead in the article to the bit about GAO further questioned as to how it felt to accurately predict what the trolls would be saying GAO declared our writer's room opened three years ago the fact that we were able to predict what the reaction was going to be while a lot of the trolling comments were going to be really shows how very tired and unoriginal these trolls are that really tickled me because the little troll that lives inside me really loves trolling the trolls she said yeah it turns out you're a troll if you point out how awful this show is and how to testable the main character is anyway the article then proceeds to talk about the portion of the interview with director cat coiro the director was then asked if she had to dig deep for all the Marvel criticism of just scroll through Twitter to which he recalled one thing I noticed is that at the beginning of the series I was getting a lot of nasty mean comments as it's gone forward that has stopped She noted I think it's because now they realize when they target us they're playing directly into our hands there could be another explanation for that they could have stopped watching the show being outright ignored is far worse for the show than receiving negative comments I would say most people simply tuned out [Laughter] she continues and we called it which is pretty gratifying it's so satisfying even negative commentary I always interpret as engagement she concluded giving weight to the growing sentiment against even hate watching Hollywood's current output it's a very good point actually if people are that angry they are paying attention yes and if they are no longer talking about your show it means they are not paying attention let's see how season two goes I suppose I look at all of it as positive the bounding into Comics article concludes with the full run of She-Hulk attorney at law is pointless spite-driven first season is now streaming on Disney Plus the fact that they have the luxury of looking at genuine negative criticism and audience backlash as positive really speaks volumes again because it shows us that there's no true meritocracy in Hollywood rubbish can be churned out and when the audience expresses their discontent with the product the people who made it can just claim that you know Haters Gonna Hate male trolls are trolling there should be absolutely no way this show gets a second season what I actually think this speaks volumes to is that these Writers Do not possess the talent to produce a high quality show that stands on its own creative merits they cannot make a good product that would draw a large Audience by itself so instead they bait a section of the audience base whom they know they can get a reaction from and at least that way if someone's talking about the show even negatively well it's eyeballs on the product right so they troll them by inserting certain story elements they know will annoy them and thus generate hate views is this what it is to be a successful Hollywood writer that people are talking negatively about your product and watching it ironically and at least that way you never have to take responsibility for your own failure you never have to take responsibility for the fact that you made garbage it speaks volumes about the writers behind such a show that this is the best they can do and the less said about the season finale the better the fourth wall breaking actually goes way too far crossing the line into outright farce when Jen climbs through the TV screen and walks around the studio lot meets with the writers of the show and then demands to speak to Kevin feige I'm actually not making this up she fights past some security guys then meets Kevin who is actually a robot it almost seems fitting considering the show feels like it was written by a really bad AI or something he then tells her to switch back to regular gen because her CGI is expensive and he says she should wait till the camera is off her because the visual effects team has moved on to another project so then she switches back to Jan off screen and proceeds to ask Kevin for A better ending to the finale she talks about how the MCU is known for its big spectacles and high-stakes plot lines but it's often said that Marvel movies always end the same way she makes some suggestions to Kevin says she has some thoughts on the direction of season two and asks when they'll be getting the X-Men I'm not joking Deadpool broke the fourth wall in a way that worked without compromising the plot or suspension of disbelief although I would argue that the novelty was beginning to wear off in the second film and it sort of became a bit tiresome at a certain point but She-Hulk just takes the joke to the extreme and it stops being funny suspension of disbelief is obliterated and it's just tiresome and it becomes hard to take the characters and their story seriously anyway getting back to the main point here I think the bounding into Comics description of the first season as spite driven is very apt the show feels like there is a spiteful aspect to it in terms of how a section of the audience base is being treated the writers would do well to consider that Pride always comes before a fall foreign [Music]
