Shaquille O'Neal surprises Dallas student for his work both on and off the court

it's been a rollercoaster week for the South Oak Cliff basketball team following that shooting at a game during the weekend but today a positive chapter to what's been a week of security changes for the district senior Kyle on Owens was surprised by Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal at jcpenney and Hurst and Fox Stephen dial was there for that surprise and right now you're at sock with more Clarice Cowen Owens stands out in the crowd because of his height but today he was singled out for another reason his performance on and off the court and it was delivered by another big guy he's easy to spot on the basketball court and his family is not afraid to yell his name in the stands Colin kale number 12 Colin Owen is a senior at South Oak Cliff high school he's listed as a six foot nine basketball player and Wednesday he got some help suit shopping from an NBA great the one and only Shaquille O'Neal Cullen's parents say it's a struggle to find clothes that fit their son that's when JCPenney learned of his dedication on and off the court they called in their Big & Tall ambassador Shaquille O'Neal to step in to help it's been a rollercoaster week for Owens being on the court when gunshots rang out Saturday and now meeting someone he looks up to I was shocked I was not expecting him to be here today I wasn't expecting none of this the shooting suspect and victim had no connection to South Oak Cliff High School but Owens it's fully aware of what's going on in the Dallas community as a whole writing this poem a few months ago during homecoming see the lack of opportunity least I learned I can go down in strength for all we know the Seas but they overcome their solos his coach and school administrators say Owens is a leader something checked said he noticed instantly guys like that you know they become future leaders and I can tell he has a future on and off the court I could tell that that's well doesn't work out for him he's gonna be fine you know very very bright kid basketball is Owens passion but he knows life is bigger than the game he strives to be a positive light for all to see in my neighborhood my community is very hard we have a we living in impoverished neighborhoods so I'm fortunate to have two parents in the home and so I try to be there for my teammates therefore whoever and just be a good example now Owens is getting some interest from colleges in-state and out-of-state meanwhile another surprise shacked Owens he's going to be at their game tonight they're preparing to play their first game the first game in their new school so and the audience would be a lot of fans but one will probably stand out Clarisse I think so and that's going to be an amazing moment once again for Kyla great report Stephen thank you
