[Music] [Music] hi everyone welcome to shabbat in your home this is a special edition because tonight we are preparing for a very special day yom kippur starts uh this coming sunday night so just in two days so tonight we're going to focus in on that and it is a sabbath the uh the yom kippur special the most holy day in the calendar year is a sabbath and you can do this in your home as well and we'll kind of go through a little bit tonight we've we've got our reduced squad here tonight uh we're spread out a little bit across the city so we're glad that you joined us so let me begin by just reading there's just a couple of verses in leviticus chapter 23 uh dealing with the day of atonement again it's not tonight it begins sunday night and in chapter 23 verse 26 says this the lord says to moses the tenth day of the seventh month is the day of atonement hold a sacred assembly that's what we're doing right now this is sacred and we're assembled hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves hmm so on sunday night we wouldn't have bread on the table when the scriptures say deny yourself this is a total fast no liquids no food you're allowed to breathe but uh and and it's it's pretty it's pretty strict there's a reason for that and we'll get to in just a minute and present an offering made to the lord by fire so how do we do that well the book of hebrews says that we are a sacrifice and so we are the offering we present ourselves to the lord his holy spirit burns up all the dross and all that's left is what looks like him how am i looking yeah okay all right thank you that was i appreciate that do no work on that day because it is the day of atonement yom kippur yom's day in hebrew kippur is covering the head covering that religious jews would wear is a kippah same word it's a covering it's interesting that christians go into a church and they uncover their heads as a sign of respect but when when jews even the marginally religious ones come into a synagogue they always cover their head as a sign of respect saying that we are under authority to a higher it's one of those interesting um [Music] yes or they do that we do this they sit down we stand up they close their eyes we keep our eyes open do no regular work it's the day of atonement when atonement is made for you before the lord your god anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off hmm all right take all the snacks out you don't want to be cut off oh this is gets even tougher i will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day all right so that's between you and the lord don't ask me you shall do no work at all this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come wherever you live especially in florida yeah where's the timeline on that where does it say that you don't have to observe you're looking for anymore yeah right because it's not pointing us to a day right it's pointing us to a person our king who is our atonement this is a lasting ordinance it's a sabbath of rest for you you must deny yourselves from the evening of the ninth day of the month till the following evening you have to observe your sabbath so uh with those happy words spoken let's light the candles and then we'll continue our celebration [Music] blessed art thou o lord our god king of the universe you have sanctified us with your word you've commanded us to be a light unto the nations and you've given us yeshua the light of the world we just father we just thank you for this very special holiday the head of the year we thank you for yom kippur we thank you father for this special time just to reflect and and just to hear from you a time for us to examine ourselves oh lord before you and um we just thank you lord for this very special time we just enter into your presence we thank you for your love which has been shown abroad in our hearts we love you we thank you father for our family we thank you for you're the great shepherd you're our great shepherd and we have no lack in any area of our lives and we thank you for how you love and you provide for us and that you give us everything that we need for life and godliness in yeshua's name amen amen okay so now obviously because this is shabbat and it's not yom kippur we will celebrate the covenant with these elements so the cup on our table again is the symbol of joy a full cup of wine a symbol of joy the fullness the blessing of the lord but it's also the element that makes the covenant without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins leviticus 17 11 the lord says i have given you the blood on the altar for the remission of your sins so on on a table the cup of covenant always takes precedence so we speak the blessing over this cup in thanksgiving for what the lord has done for us blessed are you o lord our god you're the king of the universe and you've brought forth the fruit of the vine lord we thank you tonight that yeshua is the true vine and he's also the fruit of that vine and lord as we stay connected to that vine as the the fruit of that vine the fruit of his life lord i thank you that we have everything that we need for life and godliness we celebrate thank you for the blood of the covenant that was shed for us we give you thanks father in yeshua's name amen and we can pass that around since we're covered free aren't we and the special challah the the bread they carries several symbols of course braided which reminds us that we're not to do any work we fold our arms across our chest and do no regular work but also reminds us of the manna that the lord provided in the desert where he fed us by his own hand we didn't even have to work didn't have to make the dough didn't have to bake the bread and but we're grateful and so this also reminds us of the body of our messiah that was given for us on that passover so many years ago the special bread and so lord we give you thanks tonight we give you thanks for this your provision lord you are a good provider we remember the body of our king he said i'm giving this to you i'm giving this to you lord we receive with this bread we receive with thanksgiving a covenant in your body which has made us whole and so lord we give you thanks blessed are you o lord our god king of the universe who brings forth bread from the land hallelujah got it and as we do on many shabbats since we have several mothers here let's go to the book of proverbs chapter 31 a wife of noble character who can find she's worth far more than rubies her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value she opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy when it's snow she has no fear for her household especially if she lives in florida she makes coverings for her bed she's clothed in fine linen and purple her husband is respected at the city gates thank you lord she makes linen garments and sells them she's clothed with strength and dignity she can laugh at the days to come she speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue many women do noble things but you surpass them all charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting except for these two women thank you lord but a woman who fears the lord is to be praised so let's praise our wives father we give you thanks for these noble women we thank you lord that our wives are a gift from you we bless them lord we speak good things over their lives lord we thank you that every word that was spoken in this chapter although we didn't read them all every word is demonstrated in their lives thank you lord for long life and strength and health and uh lord that our our wives love you they love us they create a sanctuary in our homes and they represent you so well lord we thank you we receive them and help us as husbands to love and honor them [Music] every day as they deserve in yeshua's name amen amen nathan why don't you bless your son lord i thank you for my son i ask that you would bless everything he puts his hands to that would prosper for your glory ask that you keep him from pain from sickness and disease all the days of his life thank you for the blood of yeshua which covers over him lord i ask that you would bless him and keep him that your your face would shine upon him lord that also your countenance would be over him oh lord that all the days of his life that he will honor you that you will teach him all of your ways it's in yeshua's name i pray amen amen amen and so just a couple more minutes because we're opening up this sabbath we want you to enjoy it there at your home or wherever you are in the future we're going to go on location and see how some of our other families here at celebration are remembering the sabbath to keep it and to uh to bless their homes so we're right now in the middle of the days of awe a time of reflection of looking inward it's a time to remember uh that that we have a covenant it's also a time to look for forgiveness to mend all right a time to mend fences if you will that we are cognizant of our relationships that need uh bolstering and you've probably heard from me a couple of times that this place jacksonville florida was a destination for us because our family was spread all over the map it took a few years but we got everyone into the same space some even into our own home and what a blessing that was um and and so this is a a good time if a phone call is necessary go ahead and make the phone call maybe walk across the street um maybe a little bit of humbling ourselves in repenting for bad attitudes or things that were said that shouldn't have been as we look to be forgiven ourselves the new testament teaches us that we're forgiven as we forgive even yeshua jesus himself taught us to pray forgive us our debts our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and yeshua himself taught us that if we don't forgive that we shouldn't expect to be forgiven during this time of reflection when we remember the blood that was sprinkled on the mercy seat in the holy of holies first for the high priest and then for all of israel a great time for us to repent and ask the lord to forgive and if you are in that place where you have absolutely nothing to repent for um there's probably one or two then uh consider placing yourself in the position of moses who uh interceded when god said look i am so tired of these people i'm gonna wipe them all out and i'm gonna start again with you and moses fell on his face and he interceded for the people and god changed his mind and as priests we have that right that authority to go before the king and make intercession not only on behalf of ourselves but of others as well that sacrifice is a a great offering before the lord so we see here in in hebrews chapter 9 starting in verse 11 when messiah came as high priest of the good things that are already here he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made that is to say not a part of this creation he did not enter by the means of the blood of goats and calves but he entered the most holy place once for all by his own blood having obtained eternal redemption and then down in verse 14 how much more then will the blood of messiah who through the eternal spirit offered himself unblemished to god cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death so that we may serve the living god so while we're in this season where we're reconciling one to another and also to god that's really what yom kippur is you know for me it's remembering the sacrifice that jesus did for us and i'm also making intercession for our friends and family who have yet to receive this blessing the yeshua the messiah he is the atoning sacrifice for all humanity for once and for all because he went before with his blood to the father and he says of you and me who accept his name not guilty what a great time to remember that we are not guilty because of yeshua jesus and how much more should we share this love that we have been shown to one another whether they deserve it or not you know i feel like sometimes we treat other people how we feel they should be treated based upon what's right and wrong that's the opposite of what jesus taught you know he was he walked along the earth showing the love of the father to others regardless if they deserved it or not he gave them a chance so how much more should we be extending the hand of our messiah that we have been forgiven of sins of doing wrong against him how much more should we be showing this type of love to our neighbors [Music] yeah good point and that those two words not guilty i'm glad you you went there and this will be where we have to close but the the blood that uh we're speaking of the blood of the sacrifice has a voice blood has a voice and we know that from god speaking to cain he's way back in the third chapter of genesis he says where's your brother abel and abel's famous response am i my brother's keeper that wasn't exactly a great response and god says to him your brother's blood cries out to me from the earth and the power of the blood is this that at the time of the temple there was this golden box the ark of the covenant inside there were three testimonies three things that were kept inside the ark of the covenant that constantly spoke about the guilt of israel so they were the the two tablets of moses the commandments yeah that were constantly speaking the people didn't keep the commandments there was also aaron's rod that butted speaking against authority and there was the jar of manna also in the ark of the covenant a reminder that god is a provider and so when the people would complain about what they had or didn't have or you know we want this and we want that and you didn't do that and so these three testimonies inside the ark are before the presence of god and those things were speaking about the guilt of the people so on yom kippur when the high priest would go in first he would take blood that is the atonement for sin and he would sprinkle it with a hyssop branch on the mercy seat the cover the kippah again of the box there are two angels whose wings were spread over top of the box called the mercy seat and then he would come back after making atonement for himself back with the blood i believe it was of a bull and that was the blood of atonement for the whole nation so that blood had to be applied every year but now jesus the son of god the messiah comes with his own blood which speaks of a better covenant because his blood is eternal and that voice never stops speaking not guilty so when we put our trust in him that blood is applied to the doorpost the lentils if you will of our heart his blood is our covering but it doesn't just cover it wipes it away so that if any man is in the messiah he's a new creation all the old things have passed away and behold all things have become new amazing the power of this blood so tonight as we finish our celebration and remembering this shabbat we have this carried with us into sunday night at sundown for an entire 24 hours of this remembering of the blood of atonement with gratitude in our hearts toward god so for this shabbat we pray that the lord will bless you and keep you the lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you may the lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you his peace nathan let's say it together ephesians [Music] god bless you have a great [Music] [Music] you
