[Music] hello everybody and welcome to the channel today we are going to be covering how to set up a basic 5m server in this tutorial we are only going to be showing you how to set up the initial server and to make sure that it is joinable we are not going to be installing any sort of plugins or add-ons or anything like that in this episode this episode is strictly going to show you how to set up the server and get it joinable you're not going to be covering port forwarding and everything like that that goes specific to your isp that you are using and what router you have there will be a link down in the description for a kind of a tutorial a written tutorial on how to do that as it's different for basically every end user depending on who they have so with that being said can close out of that window you're going to need to go to 5m.net in order to get your server files that you need i've downloaded them once already but i delete them so we can go over how to do this yourself we want to click make your own server we're already assuming that you have 5m downloaded there's a couple of things we need to do when you're on this page you need to go over here to where it says artifact server and we're going to open that in a new tab what you need to do from here is you need to grab the latest build for us at the time of recording it is 2972 so we're going to download that we no longer need that open and now we need to go and download our server data so we right click open that new tab bring that guy up and i'll bring you to a github page on this github page you want to click where it says code and click download as zip so that way we have that downloaded as well now before we get anything set up we need to get a key so that our 5m server can speak to us so you want to go over to the keymaster now you'll have to use your public ip address for this your local one for your computer does not work so those boxes will be blocked out for us now for us i've created a i've already made 5m servers i already have a bunch of keys on a stiffened account i created a brand new account so that we can go through the key registry as if this is your first time trying to set up a server so on this page we need to click register we need to label this we're going to label this tutorial server we're going to paste in i have my ip address copied we'll get a paste in the ip address this will be your public ip address we're going to pick a server type dedicated server and we're going to be calling it home host it because we are hosting this off of our home computer we are going to check that i am not a robot and we are going to click generate its going to generate the key for us and we are going to copy our key we will need that in a minute so now what we need to do now that we have our files downloaded we need to actually go and pull those up so we need to go into our downloads folder and we'll have these two guys here server.zip and cfx server data the other downloads is just all the other crap i have downloaded that i can't delete yet that i'm still using so on our desktop what we want to do is we want to go to new folder and we're going to call this 5m if i can spell tutorial server drag that up in the corner here excuse me we'll open this up we'll resize our windows to be a little bit more manageable here and we want to copy our contents of the server.zip over into this folder with copying them over to the folder it's just pretty much unzipping it for us you can put this in a place that works good for you so it'll take a minute to copy it's not that it's only 65 megs it should copy a lot faster than this but i'm also recording directly to this hard drive right now so the speeds are being slowed because of that all right so now that we have all of this copied over here we no longer need our server.zip so we can go ahead and delete that now in here our server data master we just need to copy out our resources and copy those into the folder as well all that's going to do is that's just going to give us the base stuff to start with so we no longer need anything from our downloads and we just need to worry about our file folder here so now what we need to do is once we have all of that stuff set up can go back to this website and we will need our and what we can do is we can copy this this will give us our base config so what we need to do is you need to make sure that it is spelled exactly like this server.cfg and it needs to go into the main folder here so we're going to right click new text document and we're going to call it server dot cfg and click enter it's going to ask us we want to change the file path and we click yes now we're going to edit this with notepad plus plus which is bringing it up in a new tab over here and what we're going to do is we're going to right click and paste our server information in now this is where our key becomes useful information to us because down here at the bottom where it says change me we need to paste in our key so we're going to copy that guy again i'm going to bring it down over here and paste so that's going to have everything we need one thing i recommend when working on your server is up here where it says sv underscore script hook allowed i recommend changing that to one so you can test out resources and stuff like that by the time we are done with this tutorial series and everything like that i would recommend changing that from a one back to a zero so you guys don't have any cheaters in your server it is important that you do that that way keeps the role play and everything unanimous and only the resources and the tools that you have on your server are the ones that are being used by your players so once we have all of that set up we no longer need to worry about that i don't care about an update so now we need to get the start command setup which i believe yeah so it doesn't have it over here um yeah it doesn't give us our well it gives us this start command but i have a server that i was working on that has a start command so we're just going to edit that with notepad plus plus and this is what you need to put into your bat file this will be down in the description for you to copy and paste in yourself so let's jump back over here we need to create another new text document and i'm just going to call this start dot bat and with start.bat we are going to edit it with notepad plus plus there it is paste that command in and save it now we'll be able to start and we want to allow access and it says warning one sync enabled is deciprocated depreciate it whatever it says please use one sync legacy instead authenticating with nucleus all of this should appear like this on your first startup because we are hosting this on our own computer we have that warning about one sync because the server is not optimized for one sync yet so once our server is booted up like this we can go ahead and launch 5m we'll minimize that down to the tray so 5m should pop up here in a second for us and what we can do is we can go to play and we can type in localhost and localhost should pop up our server fx server but unconfigured this will be us right here we are going to click connect and this should allow us to join now you may get an error while tr attempting to join 5m server and i will show you how to fix that once we can see that we have successfully logged into the server because we need our steem web api key and that will allow us to actually connect to the server in a different way so as we can see here we have successfully logged into our server and i will also leave a link down to the lambda lambda menu the menu that i'm using here i will leave a link down in the description to download that as well it goes into detail on how to install it so now that we can see that we have successfully joined i also have a custom map on for myself because i'm using a custom citizens setting so we can go ahead game and exit to our desktop so we need to get our steam web api key which i forget the actual web url but it'll be linked down below so it is called steam web api key and you'll go to here you'll sign in and it will give you you your key i have mine it will be blurred out so i have to grab that and we'll show you where to put it so but first before we do any of that we just need to close out of the server here and it will shut off where oh i actually don't have it set up on this profile you just set up on another profile dope oh i put the wrong password in there we go and let me grab that here we'll drag this off to the side so you guys don't see my key copy so we'll give you your web api key and what you'll want to do is you'll want to go down to where it says it right here set steam web api key and i do believe you we and i don't believe we need the quotation marks if i'm remembering correctly i can't believe i forgot in that short time period we do need the quotation marks okay so right in here you want to paste your steam web api key so any anytime you have any sort of issue with connecting to your server you will be able to do it through that so we're going to pop back open our server folder here i'm going to start our server and you'll see we have no issues and we shouldn't be getting that web api error anymore and we'll still be able to join we'll show that one more time launch up 5m here as you'll see it pops up here this is our default server and we'll be handshaking the server and downloading all the information we need having the web api key is very very useful for development as well as any other sort of issues that would arise where you couldn't connect to the server the steam web api fixes all of those issues where it says 5m couldn't do this or that restart steam i forget what the exact message is off the top of my head but it pretty much just tells you that hey steam's not working so as you can see we're on the server we will no longer have any issues with attempting to join for the foreseeable future until they themselves decide to change something so that's going to be the end of this tutorial here in the next episode i'm going to call this an episode series we are going to be covering how to set up esx esx is to prefer my preferred method on what to use when creating servers and running 5m servers we will also be covering vrp for those of you who would prefer to use vip over esx but those will be two separate episodes those will both come out on the same day guys thank you so much for watching i hope this video was informative there should be another video out tomorrow covering uh esx and vrp how to set those guys up thanks so much for watching hope you all enjoyed and i hope to see you back here again tomorrow
