SEMI DETACHED HOUSE GETS NEW LOFT SPACE

good morning guys welcome back this week we are in nottingham we're doing a dormer conversion on the rear of this property now it's not as big as last week's it's quite a small one no jumpers no t-shirts hey looking fresh had a little aircraft until but enough about that [Music] that cable's going to get right on my tips well so we're just opening up here so we've got access in and out nice big hole for us to get in get some material in through there so i've got my end stealing all my wall plate packers i've got that stealing so now i can slide them all down and then just string my line across so all the steel which we unloaded last week it's just underneath the scaffold in there [Music] so we've got all the floor cords stood up against the scaffold we've got a couple in place sliding them into loft we're just cutting the timber out down each lane ready to send them in i had a quick change of t-shirt them caught on do not breathe at all i was sweating but these these cool these brief and i can roll my sleeves up so i get a ton but yeah it's going well so far so good all right get him out this morning get him out for the ground get your shoulders out yeah it's hard work getting this up hello diet clock break playing on your phone are we no no no [Laughter] you were in it so it's all right work purposes work purposes sir [Music] so [Music] all the floor cords are in now barring these couple here but after clicking the finger and just like that they're in right let's go around our back and get them lined through we're getting set up with the string lines all for the tops and across the fronts so you can see they want to be packed up quite a bit and do also what pulling forward to the line so we're just breaking loads of bits of soffit board up under cloak whatever you want to call it emerus pakus we've removed that part of the offshoot just so our dormer runs right through we're all packed up level now all seals are touching the string lines front and top we've just got to fix them all down to the wall plate pack us inside the loft now the old stack was removed before we got here we've got some boiler pipes and a boiler on the gable end that's not in our way so that's fine all the floor cords are in now we've pieced in from the wall plate up to the stack and then from the staff out to the wall plate there just to carry the edge of chipboard we don't want no bounce that's the pearling we're notching out let me get across just cutting notches so we can slide our rafters straight down the back [Music] so [Music] so [Music] and then slide them up to them fix some yeah oh [Music] do [Music] in three two one and we're all in so we can get all the gussets in place string a line end to end line them all through morning guys so today we are in derby we've got rained off our job 90 rain all day so we've come today most job there's his dorm it's quite a big one so we're helping him get this boarded and water tight today he's got the roof all did the front boarded we're gonna do the sides getting all felted up get it water tight and then we're going inside we can frame our windows we can frame out for the um staircase hatch just plenty to get on with baby he knows how to get above [Music] right [Music] [Music] okay [Music] wanna go back we've got this side boarded shawn's finishing up nailing it we're ready to start felting up so this side's all boarded and felted we're just stapling the plastic sheet back down all looks good [Music] so this is demos job that's a big window we've just cut out just a day in entry second point of entry down there where sean's tidying up all the forces so it's a timber gable wall so i'm getting all the gusset plates bolted up getting all the eight mils in sean's tidying up oh customers brought us a party beautiful [Music] so this is the location of the staircase we're gonna be coming up this wall turning and going up so we've got it all marked out on the wall let me show you you can see the rise undergoing all the way down and just down the plasterboard there so i'm gonna put a couple of screws up through the ceiling in the corners so i can mark it out above and we're gonna get this cut out and framed [Music] so this is the drawing for the staircase we're starting here number one coming up turning round coming up to the top so i've cut this full square opening which you can see from double beam to double beam i've cut the entire square now what i need to do is infill this little dog leg section here so from this corner it's going to get built out come across to there so i'm going to frame that out now uh [Music] so oh um the hatch is all framed out now the little dog legs being put in i've put a steel strap across just to hold that upright till the force forces we've got two more there just to go in shawn's drilling ventilation holes in the front [Music] i'm gonna get this bit of wall back in now i've got my hatch we're moving forward [Music] got chucky down in eve just leveling up the wall on the end nice tight space for him get me a screw in all right all right now we want to bring this bottle yeah pull bottom until it's level but we finished it demo shop that one is now done we are back on site in nottingham the dormer frame has just gone up we're just gonna get some roof cords in and then we can start boarding no bad job that's going to be one big video well that's going to be one big window of that yeah nice [Music] so we're expecting a bit of rain next hour or two so we've got sheeted up just temporary we're still able to work underneath it do what we can until it starts raining we should be able to get the side cheeks in one side we should get the side cheeks in and then we can get them sheeted up and we'll just have to do what we can so the rain's hit it's a good job we got sheeted up hopefully it all stays nice and dry we've got note coming in so we're all right we can continue to work inside [Music] so [Music] so we're going to get the rest of these steels up now get all them in place fixed all leveled up nice then we can get the bolts in we can get these furring strips on and then we can get the roof boarded for the night because tomorrow or rain why not who don't like building dorms in the rain me him [Music] finishing up the last little bits just up to ridge rest is boarded we had to move quick it's definitely going to rain so that's all the drilling and bolting finished you've just watched us put all the bolts in tighten them up we've put some extra tech screws down the rafter cords we've now cut the purling out we're ready to get this dwarf wall up in a place we'll get that bolted in and then we're pretty much done with the structure we've got to frame out the staircase hatch of course but we're not going to do that just yet because we've got to insulate and i'm not working off for a big hole so that's going to do it for this week chuck is just finishing putting the wall in there we're breaking up for a full day bank holiday for easter so we will pick this up on tuesday [Applause] i'll let him finish up yeah we'll pick this up on tuesday when we come back we'll be insulating the floor laying the floor and then it's on the king spanning latin it's moving forward we're back on site after the four day break it's been nice so we're insulating the floor now we vacuum all the lanes just to make sure they're nice and clean then we can insulate out well that's all the steel components cut out for the staircase hatch we've pocketed the wall either side that's the triple beam that socket were a little close to that hole but we're just under it so it's fine so we're gonna get the double trimmer in now we've notched out all the floor cords to get them in we're gonna do that side and then that's hatch is framed [Music] in the eve finishing the last bit of boarding aidan's on with king spanning i'm gonna work on the window i'm gonna start framing that out so we're well on with a kingspan now that's all going in both sides and the front we're going to concentrate on doing a rafters tomorrow once the wind is framed out but i will be here tomorrow or the day after or a few days after that follow the day all again but i'm gonna leave it with chuckie he can do a bit of filming for me and we'll show you all the footage [Music]
