hello and welcome to this tutorial on how to create and sell composition books and low content books on Amazon KDP composition books and low content books are a popular and profitable item to sell on Amazon these books are simple to create and can be customized to fit your personal style or niche before we dive into the creation process let's first discuss what exactly a composition book is and what makes it different from a low content book a composition book is a type of notebook that typically has a black and white marbled cover and is used for writing and note-taking low content books on the other hand include things like journals puzzle books and blank books and are often used for Creative expression or relaxation now that we have a clear understanding of what these books are let's get started on how to create them in this video we will be more interested in creating composition books than low content books because of its Simplicity but overall the same process is used for both Step 1 find a best-selling composition book the first step is to find a best-selling composition book and emulate it to do so there is a great tool called merge Dominator which is a powerful tool for finding the best seller composition books for your KDP business to get started create an account and go to the research tab then best sellers use the filters to narrow down your search by choosing KDP descriptions and keywords and use them as inspiration to create your own composition books with merge Dominator you can be sure you are creating products that have a high chance of selling well on Amazon in our case we found so many books other than composition books so we need to be more specific on our search let's go back to the filters and type composition book then hit search as we can see we got a limited number of books this search showed us that the best seller composition book cover are the ones with some dinosaur pattern with more than 2 million sales as you can see the seller has sold 9.5 million copy of this book which means that if he got only one dollar royalty he will have got 9.5 million dollars income just from selling this simple product which is insane I will show you the End Step 2 decide on the format and content in this step you will decide on the format and content of your book this includes the size number of pages and type of paper you can also include prompts quotes or illustrations to enhance the user's experience for our case we will use the same format and content of the chosen composition book which is 7.5 inches by 9.25 inches 200 wide line pages now that we know the exact format of our composition book we will have to get a template of the cover book that we will be creating to do so we search KDP book size calculator on Google it will ask us to give some information about the book we want to create for The Binding type we choose paperback for the interior type shoes black and white for the paper type choose white paper for page turn direction choose left to right for measurements unit Choose inches for interior trim size choose 7.5 by 9.25 inch for page count choose 200 pages then hit calculate dimensions as a result we got a 7.5 by 9.25 inch coverbook template that we can download and use to design the cover the most important information here is the dimensions of the full cover that we see on the top those dimensions are 15.7 inches by 9.5 inches [Music] step 3 design your cover the cover is the most important aspect of your book and should be eye-catching and reflective of your niche you can use a design tool like canva or hire a professional designer to create a custom cover for you after downloading the Cover Book template we will go on canva to design and create our book cover you can create an account on canva and have access to free templates that you can use but if you want more choices and more professional templates you have to pay a monthly subscription and it worth it after logging into your account click on create a design and add the dimensions of your full cover and make sure you selected inch unit in our case we have 15.7 inch width and 9.5 height as you can see we got a blank page with the chosen dimensions now we go to the import Tab and add the book cover template we downloaded and we added on the blank page and cover all the page this will show us where to put the information of our book and where it will be shown now it's time to generate some designs for our book cover the first tool is using AI tool on canva the second tool is downloading some free patterns on vect easy when you go to the canva home page on the left side you go to the apps section then click on text to image app it will ask you if you want to use an existent template or create a new one by giving the dimensions you can type anything you want it to generate for you in my case I want an image of dinosaurs I got some images that I didn't like because of the low quality and because it doesn't look like the example we are working on that's why I'm gonna use another tool for that which is vect easy is a website where you can get cool designs for free and other Pro designs with subscription for every free design used you need to give the credit to vect easy and mention that it belongs to this website to get access to these designs search vect easy on Google on the landing page type dinosaur and click on the free designs you find and download all the interesting ones then choose the right design in our case we got so many beautiful designs but we chose only one that is close to the example design as you can see we downloaded this design and got the design with a license information file stating that we have to mention vect easy when using the free designs we go back to canva and add this pattern to cover the template cover after that we click on position on the top and click on back to put the cover behind the cover template we also reduce the transparency to around 50 in order to see the cover when designing it we go back to the example design to get inspired by it there are two things to design that are the book label and it's spine for the label we first search a square shape with rounded edges then we add another one on top of it the first one will be colored but the second one will be white we make sure that is centered for the spine we search a square shape drag it and stretch it to cover the spine area then we add some text and lines to get the same label as the sample composition book [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Applause] foreign [Music] [Music] we changed the label and spine colors to different colors of the pattern to see which color will be the most Suited those colors are orange pink and print step 4. create the interior Pages for the interior Pages you can use a word processing program like Microsoft Word Google Docs or canva to create the content and format in our case we will use canva for that the interior pages to create is wide ruled pages we will start by creating the first page that we will duplicate later to have 200 pages the first thing to do is to know the dimensions of the page to create to do so we will search KDP setup calculator on Google then under file setup calculator we click download calculator it opens an Excel file in ink and paper choice we choose black ink and white paper in trim size we choose 7.5 inches by 9.25 inches in number of pages we choose 202 pages then we click on manuscript with bleed to get the dimensions the page Dimension is 7.625 inches by 9.5 inches we go back to canva and create a new design with these dimensions and make sure to choose inch unit then we add a line to the blank page and stretch it to the edges we change the thickness and the color of the line and duplicate it to several horizontal lines [Music] then we select all the lines and click on position and Center we add another line vertically and stretch it to the edges after finishing the first page we duplicate it to have 100 pages then we download it as a PDF file for print twice we get a total of two PDF files that we gonna combine using combine PDF website the final file is a 200 Pages PDF file now we have our interior Pages step 5. create product description using cha GPT and upload it to Amazon KDP first search KDP on Google and create an account there once it's done click on create button under create a new title or series to create a new book then click on create paperback then fill out the information about the book title series description Etc we can get some inspiration looking at some composition books on Amazon as you can see to help us get all this information easily we gonna use an AI tool called chatgpt chat GPT is an AI program that can understand and respond to things people say or type just like a human would to use this tool search Chat GPT on Google and create an account there then we write a prompt about the message we want to generate a prompt is a short message that tells you what to do or how to respond to something in our case I asked chatgpt to write an SEO friendly composition book title with Dinosaur pattern wide ruled 7.5 inches by 9.25 inches 200 pages as you can see we got the response that we gonna put on the title we will do the same thing for keywords and description just be 9.25 inches for bleed settings we select bleed for paperback cover finish we select matte we start by uploading the manuscript which is the 200 Pages PDF interior then we upload the Cover Book under book review we click on launch preview to get a preview of The Cover Book to see if everything is alright then click approve as we can see there was no problem about the files uploaded at the bottom we can see the summary with the cost per book which is three dollars and 25 cents on amazon.com then we click on Save and continue under pricing royalty and distribution we can Define our price and get the information about the cost and royalty in this case the minimum price to Define is 5.42 cents for example if we want to sell our book at 5.99 per book it will cost us three dollars and 25 cents Printing and we will get 30 royalty if you raise the price you will get more royalty for 6.99 you will get 94 cents royalty don't forget to define the primary Market that you want to sell on in my case I will choose amazon.com Market we can go back to merge Dominator to get an idea about the seller's prices but generally for composition books the price is around 5.99 to 7.99 at the end you
