Hello there, Commonwealth Realm here. In our first post release theory, we showed
the connections to Ocarina of Time, but barely went over why the Distant Past sages
were masked. Well, today, we will focus fully on them
and the trio that isn't masked. So be sure to leave a like, subscribe
and press that notification bell, and let's go over all 6 of them + Princess Zelda
from the Distant Future. To shake things up a little, we will, instead of Rauru and the Zonai,
start at the opposite end of the spectrum, namely the Rito sage, the ancestor of Tulin. Since he doesn't fit in our Ocarina Circle of Sages,
as he is not a Kokiri or Korok, not to mention had not yet evolved
from the Zora at this point in the timeline. Curiously enough, the male Rito sages don't even
fit the Zora and Rito sages of Ocarina, pre, and within The Wind Waker,
who were all female. Ruto, Laruto, and Medli. At the same time, Divine Beast, Vah Medoh, which's animal clearly shares the likeness
of the bird mask worn by the Distant Past Rito Sage, and also the depiction of the same bird on the Stormwind Ark -
Aka the Wind Temple, points to two things. One, that the Kokiri and Korok sages were
replaced or downgraded by the Rito now that the Zora and Rito are present
in the same generation of sages. Second is that Divine Beast, Vah Medoh, doesn't
point to Medli of The Wind Waker, but her male namesake, Medoh. Or perhaps a different arrogant Kokiri
and rival of Link for Saria in Ocarina of Time. Mido. That is right. I don't think the Distant Past sages, despite following the original order of the medallions as seen in the inventory of Ocarina of Time, share the same names as the sages in that game. And in the case of the Rito, The Wind Waker. They are new separate characters with new, but at the same time, similar names to past sages
and characters found in the Zelda series. That is to say, apart from two of the sages, as we will
get back to at the end of the video. The Zelda team made it clear that this was not
a copying of Ocarina's sages, so they made a number of differences. A male Rito knocking out the Kokiri and Koroks
from the lineup being the first of them. Hence we have our first in line, Medoh, the first male Rito sage in the Zelda series, and the replacement of the title of Sage of Wind,
taken from the Kokiri and Koroks. Moving on to Fire where the Gorons stand firm, with their salamander as their spirit animal. Something that we have seen with the
padlocks of Gorondia, the former Goron Capital in the Depths turned
Fire Temple. An animal which graced Death Mountain, and upon its extinction, in the form of
Divine Beast, Vah Rudania. An abbreviation of Ocarina's Sage of Fire, Darunia. But a deliberate one to separate our salamander-head
masked sage of Fire from the one debuting with the Goron race in 1998. That is right. I don't think our Distant Past
Goron Sage is named Darunia, as the Zelda team's intention all along
has been to present him as the successor, not namesake of Darunia. Hence the Sage of Fire, Rudania. And before we move on, we have to talk about
the Gorons who don't have genders, so we didn't have the issue of the gender swap here. Just the name which is a wordplay of rearranged letters to make Rudania distinct from Darunia. Speaking of sharing the same gender
and race from Ocarina to Distant Past Tears, our next two sages in the lineup. Starting with the Distant Zora sage of the Domain. She proudly wears the mask of the elephant, the Distant Past spirit animal of the tribe
which is extinct in present times. A symbol that was forgotten in favor of the fish, but which as seen in the source of Zora's domain's water,
namely the Water Temple, the elephant was key to the tribe
when their sage opposed Ganondorf. We know for certain that she was a female, and seeing that the Divine Beast piloted last
by Champion Mipha, was shaped as an Elephant and also named Vah Ruta,
you know where this is heading. Though there is more. As the Rut-part of the names
of female Zora is well established throughout the adult
and child timelines. In Ocarina of Time, we had Princess Ruto who
The Hero of Time was almost forced to marry. Then in The Wind Waker, we had the deceased
Zora sage, Laruto, before Twilight Princess gave us the deceased
Queen of the Zora, Rutela. Following this train of thought, it becomes clear
that our Distant Past female Zora sage, Ruta, is just yet another Zora, continuing this
proud tradition of royals and Zora sages. Which begs the question,
was Ruta a Princess herself? After all, she calls out to her successor,
Prince Sidon, who, by the way, is the very first male Zora sage
that we know of, right before the first depicted Zora
coronation in the series. King Sidon had truly debuted in the series. But if one Zora male deserved this dual honor,
then it was him. He is also the first Zora sage who lived
to see the end of Ganondorf and rule his people afterwards. The same goes for Chief Riju, though her role as a sage
is not as unique as her ancestor. Naturally, outside of one Gerudo male
born every 100 years, all members of the tribe are female. Not only that - their monarchy was abolished in favor
of the position of female chieftains after this Gerudo sage right here opposed
her king-turned-Demon King, Ganondorf. So, what does our strong female leader wear
apart from the Stone of Lightning? The mask of a camel, the spirit animal, and most likely, a crucial mode
of transport across the desert in the Distant Past. The Lightning Temple Pyramid makes this clear,
both on its exterior and interior. And who met Zelda here?
The Distant Past Sage of Lightning. Camel mask and camel murals, just like the walking camel-shaped
Divine Beast, Vah Naboris. In Ocarina of Time, the second in command
below Ganondorf was Nabooru, who was displeased with her King's behavior, scheming, and eventual coup against the Hylian monarchy. As such, she went to the Spirit Temple of the Gerudo to find the gauntlet to oppose the Evil King. It didn't end well, as she was brainwashed for 7 years, and ended up most likely dead with the
death of Twinrova or Koume and Kotake. Though this tragedy also allowed her
to awaken as the Sage of Spirit. That is right - lightning is a new title for a sage, as by all accounts, Naboris here is the proof
that the title of Sage of Spirit has been passed down to the purple,
which isn't royal in Hyrule, but was instead in Ocarina of Time
tied to Sheikah. But not in Tears of the Kingdom, as they, much like the Kokiri and Koroks,
have been ousted from the position of Sage. As such, there is no 5th Divine Beast
apart from a prototype. Let's remember who are the technological
successors of the Zonai and the Divine Beasts replacing the sages. But the Zelda team probably did all of this
to introduce a similar though animalistic Dragon Tribe,
and their sage of Spirit. Another female, Mineru, making the majority
of the Distant Past sages, which is like in Ocarina of Time, female. The last full-blooded Zonai who was alive
on the Surface after the Imprisoning War. She replaced the Impas who used to be
in the Chamber of Sages and moved the title of Sage of Spirit
and the Spirit Temple from the Gerudo and the desert
to the Zonai in the Dark Depths. This way fulfilling the unrealised order
in Ocarina of Time. Green, red, blue, orange, and purple, which leaves us with one final medallion and stone - Light and Time, which we will detail right now. King Rauru, as he is the source of both
Zelda's and Link's power. It is his stone that is dropped, and Zelda picks up, leading to the same stone being wielded
by two different individuals, thanks to becoming the Stone of Time
with the power to Recall. The stone that started its journey in the final
Zonai Generation by becoming the Stone of Light, the founding father and monarch
of the Kingdom of Hyrule, a line of succession that would continue
until the next wielder of his stone. Princess Zelda, the daughter of King Rhoam
of Hyrule. But let's untangle this knot one step at a time, starting with what I believe is the one
equal name between Ocarina of Time and Tears of the Kingdom's Distant Past sages. Both greet Link after his first failed meeting
with Ganondorf, and also with the Master Sword in hand,
all to bring light or at least some hope to Hyrule. Ocarina of Time's Ancient Sage of Light
guarded the sealed Triforce in the Sacred Realm. When this seal was broken after young Link
pulled the Master Sword, and Ganondorf claimed the Triforce of Power, he watched Link sleep his way to adulthood, and was then the first to greet him
and grant him a medallion. The light Medallion. In Tears of the Kingdom,
Rauru drops his seal on Ganondorf when Link shows up with the glowing
Master Sword and the Princess. Zelda collects the dropped stone
and transforms it into the Stone of Time, all while Demon King Ganondorf uses his
stolen stone to awaken once again. Ultimate result, the Upheaval, Zelda Recalled to the Distant Past, and Link with Rauru's arm in the Sky. Just like there were only six medallions
in Ocarina of Time, only six stones remain on the side of light, as the final stone of time is the same stone
as the Stone of Light. The original Stone of Time in the Distant Past, that of Queen Sonia, was stolen and
turned into the Stone of Darkness after Ganondorf punched her out of mortal existence. But there are seven on the side of light, right? Yes, as Rauru and Princess Zelda wield the same stone. We see this by the two gifts of
Great Sky Island to Link. Rauru's arm with its original powers and the power to Recall granted by Zelda's specter. A part of her power comes that from this stone that most likely replaced the Triforce in this game. Completing the circle while also being
yet another double dragon in this game. Rauru and Zelda, both royals, who, in the name of their kingdom and their last hope,
Link, sacrifice themselves. Zelda has the same and different role. She becomes the sage from a different time
in both instances in Tears of the Kingdom. She is the traveler from the Distant Future
in the Distant Past, and the dragon from the Distant Past
in the Distant Future. And when the successors and spirit of Mineru confront Demon King Ganondorf
with their five stones, Zelda with her stone awaits in the Sky. And rightfully so, to aid Link with the
swallowed stone of Rauru to bring Link to the position where he can destroy
the stolen Stone of Darkness. Hence allowing King Rauru
and Queen Sonia in gratitude to grant Link the ultimate though falling gift, all prior to passing away, leaving Hyrule with six stones, until Mineru's passing in front of the new 4 sages. Though, who knows? Perhaps Purah here
might have inherited Mineru's stone, bringing the Sheikah back into the fold of Sages. Just like in Ocarina of Time, leaving the Koroks
the former Kokiri as the final outsider. Perhaps they are saved for DLC as we didn't get
a Forest Temple in this game. But what are your thoughts about
the Secrets of the Sages apart from the Sage's Will in the Sky? Sound off in the comment section down below! If you haven't already, then be sure to leave a like,
