The Longest Cave - 1700 miles in A Tiny Speedboat #21

and you're rolling right we're back at it the longest sea cave in the UK but comes out the other side a sea Tunnel right we're going through all the stuff here we' got cooking stuff camera case tent flashy new pants yeah we got new trousers chocks [Music] away we' got a new Fender for this one because we lost the old one so we don't have to use the tire there's the tire the sun's out Eddie sun's out y boat's looking good uh Scotland is a long way away it's going to be a nice drive we've got some good audio books so we're off to see Rob who will be taking us in the Land Rover Freelander to B where we left off last time we're connected to all the Ray Marine gear on the boat and the screens and um I wanted to see how well this works as we're going along so we're connected via the Wi-Fi we're connecting to the boat now we can see the goodwi is doing 47 knots this the top speed we can see the cars coming towards us and behind us on the radar guess we can see the line of trees down the road here and we got the thermal cameras running swivel the camera around here nothing behind us it's VI look how hot these tires are he's trying to overtake you they're getting hotter by the minute these Lorry tires are very hot right we're at Rob's house so you're stepping into the breach again Rob this is very kind of you always happy to help har it's kind of amazing that the renault's made it this far I'm impressed that the French tin has made it this far but I'm very pleased that your suspension is going to be doing the next stage hopefully this first Headland shouldn't be too bad I think we've done the worst yeah good we'll be swimming Eddie we're going to be loving it loving it getting the supplies in here we got the snacks going in this is the important one here what's this Rob so these are butteries they are a bakery product only available in the northeast of Scotland um they are essentially huge in calorific value that's like salt and lard the story is that they were designed for fishermen on the boats because you can eat it in one hand and it's got loads of calories oh perfect so it keeps you going all day thank you very much wow look at that Elgen Cathedral we're getting the Whistle Stop tour so what happened to that someone knocked it down that was B burnt down by a chat called The Wolf of Badness and I don't know 17 something or 16 something wow it's looking perfect I mean that looks pretty good right here we are in bamp low tide Eddie very low tide we're inspecting the um slipway here we may have timed it slightly wrong the pressure's on it roll been awarded with a free hat yeah right we're back at it we're continuing on from bamp Harbor we're going to manhandle it down the beach because of the low tide hand it down there you're off girl bu it's lovely wildlife right passing troop head a lot of seabirds uh it's lovely conditions we just stopped here in pennan very famous for being in a film called local hero or about a businessman comes to this small fishing Village and realizes there's more to life than big [Music] business but anyway onward Eddie onward I am brinan yeah cheers Eddie cheers robs just made sure we were fully stocked so from here we heading further east around the Headland of Peter head towards abedine we're coming along to the Headland Eddie taking the charts four miles to the Headland four miles to the Headland no turning back it's slightly never it's slightly choppy but it's still flat isn't it yeah yeah we stopped here near the Headland um just taking stock and I think we're going to try and go for it and um head round towards Peter head it's a little windy but um hopefully it's going to calm down feeling confident Eddie oh yeah are you getting on the Wi-Fi I'm on the Wi-Fi right we made it around the head daddy in one piece yeah a little choppy but not too bad was it little spray over the bowel not as advertised no this is the windy day so this is all sand Junes down here sort of oil refinery bits to wait for the tide for an hour we're going to have a sandwich maybe we can go for a swim over in the marina delicious sandwich hello coming as sure already there's a petrol station up there which I think up that way up this way come on it's pretty heavy isn't [Music] it my boat's just down there ready you'll be getting my car back the bill later a little chil is it chilly we just having a quick dip right we're leaving Pizza ahead heading back out towards aine and we need to find a camping spot Maybe Bank a bit heading [Music] out so this is where we're anchoring this is a lovely Bay PR good this is the perfect spot I think we're going to have a good night's sleep not quite sure if there's any flat ground for tents but there's great parking for boats this Bay on the map is called North Haven next to the bullers of buan pretty good the clues in the name it's a Haven it is a Haven this is we're inflating the tender big moment electric pump now this isn't new need to turn it on on here Old Fishing Harbor there's some old kind of fishing apparatus down there and there's a very old wall bedtime stroll yeah good was down there on the anchor we slightly worried that I haven't put the engine up so if the tide goes out any further it might start banging on the bottom but we can't be bothered to go and um put it up so I'm just going to leave it like that and hope for the [Music] best camped is slain Castle this is New stain's Castle built in the 15th century to replace an older one up the way it's quite an incredible ruin um apparently Bram Stoker stayed there and this was inspiration for his character Dracula so um it's a little spooky although we didn't sense any of that at the campsite [Music] be can imagine it's quite looks like a fancy place to live so you can imagine Dracula would live there with the fangs what happened to the castle har uh I I think the I don't know what happened to the castle it's now a ruin obviously maybe once Dracula died Dracula was probably killed by the um silver bullet or is it no the spike steak it was a steak through a heart Dracula died and the cast is ruined R TOA stayed there anyway and um still it looks like a do upper like a real Channel isn't it wow a deep pool it opens out down here this is amazing don't hit those rocks Edie this is crazy brilliant wow look there's another tunnel going under there this is brilliant full of birds Gooden Rock wow R through there yeah all right shall we this feels like we're in I don't know like some Mediterranean kind of Ravine isn't it [Music] [Music] Martin's looking for the entrance to the cave the longest C cave in the UK I think it's a couple hundred meters and we can come out the other side okay here we go we're going into the tunnel man wow this is serious on B point with some Cavern we're looking for the good camping spot coming down towards off road macaroni P how is it Eddie I would suggest I might stop please next that Cove is is definitely not a good camping spot so we're getting togged up and we're going to try continuing South around towards St Andrews just two men driving off into the Horizon in the uh Evening Sun it's a little windy wind it a cold getting a little wet but it's uh it's only 12.3 Mi now and the other side can't see land just yet it's over that way St Andrews can see land hry and so 8.1 mil and into the thir of four 6.5 mil in W to the promised land yeah we've made it to the other side just coming around five M head the five Nest Lighthouse here it's flatened out now isn't it promised land has arrived promised land was a big push and that was cold and wet today is the last day we're heading out towards Edinburgh El's one of these very picturesque little fishing Harbors along this Coast there's a lot of them we whiz past most of them last night dingy is looking deflated Eddie's looking deflated it's going to be a great day right we got a bit of a leak in the dingy back to the boat off we go out to good win fog's clearing morning Goodwin I remembered the boat keys is The Bu going engine on Lovely all right we're coming Eddie coming to load up the stuff okay loading up load that bad boy up we got our new fuel right goodbye Ruby Bay [Music] we're heading in towards Edinburgh up the F and fourth fourth and fifth it's getting slightly more industrial down here is that a permanent one or is that being made you can see some old bases behind there um Edinburgh is only 10 mil away let's [Music] go we're heading out into the channel and towards Edinburgh we're making a little stop at an island called ink still choppy but the sun's po me out this is an Old World War II base there's a lot of old fortifications up there well it's the last day Eddie getting ND on look tired I feel tired Eddie you was doing tired and old tired and old it's taking its toll isn't it oh that the seals Poss when you started this series you're in your teens you the gray hairs are getting grayer and the brown ones disappearing getting thin on the ground quick pit stop at inch Keith Island this is um apparently a very formidable defense point it's had years and years of um fortification gun and placements apparently it was first occupied in the 12th century it was repeatedly attacked by the English in the 14 century and basically this was a good defensive point to defend Edinburgh which is just over there now it's looking very much ruinous with the exception of the lighthouse which is very wellmaintained there's a lot of second world war buildings up there as well some of them look like they'd make pretty good houses but um it is a long way from civilization well it's not that far it's only it's only three and a half northo miles from Edinburgh so good location it's hard to get a loaf of bread though you'd have to make your own bread chickens you could have chickens yeah all right let's go to edra this is it now we're skimming along we're flying along 25 knots into Edinburgh right New Haven let's go down there made it to Edinburgh and um Eddie's just got a little clothes line going here it's a little bit of laundry day yeah laundry day it's good drying weather Eddie Good Winds just on the har wall here be back in it's deflating really slowly smell the glue there I love the boat but it's getting old and it's going to need to be tubing at some point we patch on that one I've only got one patch so I don't have one for the other so have you keyed it all up is that this is just because it's old and it placing I did what everyone said don't do which is use GIF ah see him I mean get back absolutely have a good one see right Eddie the Delights of Edinburgh wait okay he's going to the tram Eddie come on this is a travel man sh we just missed the tra but here's another one tell us where to go where should we go right you're the tour guide and the ticket man right so basically you can just stop in s Square yeah Square yeah you just start laugh French see you walk you arrive until like 5 minutes walk so this is excellent service you provide the TR if you've only got an hour I would suggest going to the the old town cob Street which in itself is a nice Street I think we need a glass of water Harry we're very thirsty but also look at the monument Eddie that's but if you really want to get the inry of old Edinburgh go to the grass market and gra Fri graveyard that's where Burk and here ply their treat stealing bodies this is very kind of you it's a pleasure always enjoy it thank you [Music] Chin Chin bro well done let how to look in the bathroom I'm nowhere near but Edinburgh has the king of the castles it's called edin B Caron it's right in the middle on top of a big hill let's go we got to get the CH back to the boat Eddie let's go this is like challenge anah okay we've got to get go anakah come with me let's get back to the Trap cross Eddie run over the tram tracks don't get your bicycle wheel stuck in though let's get back to the boat and we got to head east to meet Rob um who's going to there with the trailer d d New Haven a New Haven that's where we're going please get into the trans going in shot like oh here we are and there's a [Music] driver in one piece in one piece back at New Haven [Music] [Music] right that's Portell Beach over here and uh we're just changing fuel tanks Ed's doing we get along heading back out to the mouth of the fth and fourth we've stopped at GLA Beach all the beach goers of whooping lot of swimming and general mert out here it's a little more chilly but it's sunny so we're on the last push with about 12 mil to Dumar that's the plan we got to go out around the Headland past North Berwick which might be a little choppy one more time into the brid yes right we're heading around fast North bck shortly we're going round fidra [Music] for the evening run Eddie final evening r a little bit of swell but actually it's fine much better than we thought be looks like we're Chasing the Dream the Dream what are we chasing Eddie around the headland flattening out a bit 3.9 mil to go hopefully there is Rob with trusty Landy and the trailer it's navigating around these tricky rocks Eddie aren't we yeah an iceberg de ahead so the iceberg out there is bass Rock we're just heading around Jin head where there is an incredible Castle but I don't know would you risk getting the Drone up Ed look at that castle Ming a along now Eddie got a little bit here we can go for it 2.8 miles that is a very gated oh and relax good driving Eddie extreme danger is gun [Music] bar we made it to Dum bar be through there the slipway seag gos welcoming Us in there he is there's Rob R up he's going how's the drive [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] that was a bit of a longer Drive sorry that's right it was it was
