Scammed, Wrecked & Lost! RAM almost didn't make it to the CAR WIZARD's Shop! You've got to hear this

this has been quite a fiasco the story on this truck is absolutely insane you guys are going to love this video let's get started [Music] the story with this truck starts before it even arrived to the shop this poor truck has been through shipping hell it has been a near-miss a scam and a wreck before it even arrived to the shop this is a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins diesel engine in it it's in Fairly good condition and it's had quite an ordeal just to get here we mentioned this truck actually a while ago talked about how there was a shipping accident or a whole bunch of things that happened the truck was supposed to show up it never did show up and the story is really crazy on it there's also quite a long list of things to do we're going to go over that here in a little bit but here's a story before it even got here and why you guys really need to do your research when you choose a shipper to ship your car here or anywhere across the country or anywhere really do not go for the lowest bidder because the money you save initially will be lost in some crazy accident or something they'll wreck your car they'll scratch it they'll tear it up or just never show up with your car sometimes the savings is absolutely not worth it choose a professional ship or there's several out there yes they're going to cost a lot more way more but it is worth it when this customer first attempted to ship this truck here the truck was late it never showed up the customer is trying to call where are you guys at or what's going on here there was no tracking no they weren't calling him back and finally they come to find out that before the shipper had even made it to pick up this truck in Virginia the driver had rolled the truck and trailer into a ditch and that's when this customer said oh well you're definitely not picking up my truck then I don't want you touching my truck if you're rolling the trailers into the ditch so this customer move on to shipper number two this shipper actually showed up had the truck loaded onto the trailer and was moving some other person's car and backed into this truck and dented it wrecked it and that's not bad enough is when the shipper looked at the customer and said it's just an old truck man it's not even a big deal this thing is what is this an old farm truck who cares it's not a big deal and the customer looked at the shipper and said get my truck off of your trailer hell no you are not touching my truck the customer actually mentioned he has yelled at some shippers just getting it here that's why I'm kind of being emphatic I'm not yelling at you guys I'm not mad at you guys but this guy was severely pissed off and you guys would be too as well if a bro just backed up into your truck and you'd be like what the hell are you doing that is also why it was delayed so long to finally get the truck here is because the shipper had to pay to get the repairs fixed and the customer had to work through all of that Fiasco and it got repainted I'm not sure exactly where it was dented or what exactly happened but I know it was repaired so round two was a failure round one was a failure finally the customer arrived to round three as you see the truck actually made it here they actually did get it here they didn't scratch it it didn't Dent it but this is where the scam comes in this customer called the shipper and already paid for the entire delivery all of it but I have seen this before where shippers show up to a shop who's unaware and say I have this delivery I need to have the bill paid before we release the vehicle to you they don't tell you that it's already been paid if you haven't been in contact with the customer to work this out the shop may not know and say oh okay no problem we'll get you a check and then you'll get us the truck and we'll get the reimbursement from the customer then you call the customer and the customer says bro I already paid that and then you'd call the shipper and they won't answer the phone you don't know where they're at you will not get a hold of them and you will not get your money back if you asked Tyler Hoover from hoovie's garage or euroasian Bob or me anybody who's bought and sold lots of cars and had lots of cars shipped it can be a huge pain getting a car shipped whenever it arrives you you already know in the back of your mind you're like what kind of games are we going to play today you already know they're going to happen oh we blew a tire out oh we had this happen well we scratched your pain or I don't know why the shipping industry for cars is so crummy but it is unless you go to the higher rate so let's go and take a look around this truck I've got some suggestions you should go through when you go to find a shipper and also we're going to go over the huge list of things the customer wants done to this truck so here we have the front of this really nice Dodge Ram I remember when this model came out and I absolutely loved it I love this little scallops that are underneath the headlights here and I thought it just looks so sporty it almost like Dodge viperish or something very sporty it looked really good and they still do look really really good this one's in good condition it is a big truck it is made for pulling and Hauling we don't typically work on a lot of big diesels but we decided to do that this time there's some Dash work some things that need to be done we're happy to oblige this customer as you can see down the side if the paint is very nice the topper is in decent condition it does have some paint chips on top of the topper but best to be expected it is the Laramie Edition 4x4 heavy duty as you can see it's a nice truck it's not beat to hell it's not rusted it's really pretty decent let's go ahead and jump under the hood foreign valve Cummins we are not going to be diving deep into the engine there's some Services we're going to get caught up on some belts things like that just some basic things to get caught up but again we do not dive deep into diesel engines there's shops that exist specifically for big truck diesels uh wow wizard that's a really long dipstick there yeah let's pull it out and check it man it just keeps on going is it going to come out there we go yep it's got engine oil and just like a diesel it's black as midnight ah that's part of working on diesels anyways not a whole lot going on under the hood let's let Mrs Swisher show you guys around in the interior okay ladies and gents got the door open here just so we can get this mileage but it's 285 706. I'm going to close the door for us wizard thank you sir so you're going to see this says present amazingly well standard Dodge gauges here we see those you know everything we're used to but look at this Dash with all those miles nothing is wrong everything is in amazing condition as we move down we can see again no problems minuscule even it might say dust is all we can see on that very tiny bit effective infotainment screen very simple HVAC controls very simple controls look heated seats at least we've got a little bit of a creature Comfort here and simple controls for that four wheel drive as we move down uh-huh first hidey hole there we go and as tray without the guts in it I appreciate that if you move over this one I tested earlier our cup holder it doesn't actually hold any longer but they had it down in this position anyway and that's probably the way I would keep it as well make sure that's always available this is the era of Dodge where we have that massive massive armrest and watch still works great and we've got just a few little items in here some pens and some minor little things in here nothing greasy probably because they're kind of worried about what would the shipper do if they left anything in here but if we raise this intersection we now have a bench seat in the front so we can hold three people in the front if we look at our seat we have a nice suede like material here that's actually quite nice but leather all the way around no bolster because why would you do that in a this big of a truck that's kind of crazy so it's just nice soft feels like a sofa in here door panels good condition dark gray with a little bit of aluminum Accent on there one thing that makes the front so nice is that the front the drivers and the passengers have very nice fitted WeatherTech mats which is going to keep that carpet looking in really good condition and when we move to the back seat which is a four door so we have a door panel over there that's looking good as well but we've got more of that suede in the center and we do have a 40 60 split as well as we pan down a little bit of a cup holder there on the floor with a nice panning mat beneath it as we move to our headliner everything is in really great condition it is such a high headliner it's going to be hard to actually get much going on up there much touching of anything and it's in pristine shape no sags no tears one thing that's kind of nice is I wizard it also has the standard rear view mirror but it also has one that kind of helps you see some of those blind spots as well because this is a long Beast of a truck so we can catch wizard in a couple of different spots there as we entered our steering wheel it is showing some age here which I would anticipate after this Mini Mouse see a few little Marks here maybe a little bit that needs to be cleaned up we do see some spots that are maybe wearing a little bit more some stuff's coming off but after this many miles if that's all the wear this car has that's amazing enough of this talk of the Interior let's go through that laundry list that the customer would like to have addressed the first item on the list is actually the air conditioner does not blow cold and also there's some issues with the flaps inside the dash which is very common on these let's start it up and see if it blows cold nope just lukewarm air let's try to change the mode doors from floor to vent defrost see if it does anything let's try a temperature change nothing I turn the AC button on and off I don't even hear the compressor engaging it doesn't even do anything all right typically on these models of Dodge Ram so it doesn't matter if it's half ton one ton three quarter ton they all have the same Dash set up inside of there the plastic doors will break the motors will fail all kinds of things go wrong inside the dash you guys actually seen a video not too long ago where we had the dash all the way out of a vehicle and pulled the HVAC box out and it was quite an ordeal very likely the same situation is going to happen here but on top of that there is an air conditioning leak somewhere we're going to have to put a vacuum on it and see where the leak's going on if we don't find anything that way we can charge the system up with some UV dye check for leaks and once we find the leak we can Evacuate the refrigerant back out really quickly so it doesn't leak out into the air so this has 285 000 miles and really that's not that much if you watch hoovie's garage you will also know that he owns a Dodge Ram that has been coined the million mile Cummins it truly has a million miles on it if they're maintained properly and taken care of you can get tons of miles out of these years of Dodge Rams these are definitely the year models whether it's a Duramax or a cummins or power stroke the early 2000s is really the golden years it's the most power with the least amount of emissions garbage there's literally choking the life out of these engines when we schedule this vehicle we scheduled it for the air conditioning heater issues maybe a couple small things but as usual which I totally get it it shows up with a full page laundry list of things to check and a shop owner could get upset by that and say we got you slotted for this amount of time we were told it was going to be a couple of three items and you showed up with this I don't get mad because I understand that and the reasoning for this is if they're going to go this far this distance to a shop that they Trust now is the time to sort the whole vehicle out it's going to be done right Fair without being gouged then they can receive their vehicle back and enjoy it for quite a long time without having to go to a shop again so I get that I understand the customer said he doesn't care how long it's here that's why the list is so long and he's not concerned about it so let's go over this list I'm going to read it to you guys AC system leaks will not hold a charge yes we just saw that it's not blowing cold you can turn it on it doesn't do anything the AC actuators of the vents do not work the vents require foam seals to be replaced check compressor that is original equipment he just wants it checked over make sure the system is good to go we'll find out where the leak is and we'll determine if it's the compressor or the evaporator or where we go from there his Uconnect system which is Bluetooth does not work the passenger front seat will not adjust with the power motors it just will not move the driver's side cushion the heat doesn't work which means the heated seats are bad and typically in that situation it's usually the actual heater grid that's inside the seat and we may not get to fix that because we may have to pull the whole seat apart that's an upholstery issue we'll have to see what it is it could be a fuse it could be a relay hopefully something simple oil pressure gauge and cabin temperature dual slide controls have the light bulbs out so we'll be able to pull that module apart and see if there's any bulbs we can replace in there he has a new steering wheel that's in the back seat he'd like that installed the passenger side mirror will not move and it's full range of motion change the serpentine belt power steering fluid transmission fluid air filter and check the alternator please replace the shock absorbers with OEM Chrysler Dodge shocks give the truck a good look over and he he actually says at the bottom he's on this truck since brand new right off the showroom floor he's got almost 300 000 miles and he is of the mind that if he fixes all these items on this list he can easily go another 300 000 miles which is very very likely so it does seem like a lot of items but luckily there are groups of those items that are all in the same area there's a lot of things going on in the interior there's just some services that are right here in the engine bay so we're not going to be scattered all over the whole truck trying to chase all these problems down it makes it a little easier we won't have to go through multiple multiple systems we'll just be pretty much in these two areas figuring out what's going on with the complaints that he has now back to the weird shipping situation this poor truck has been through like I've mentioned before I've seen this many many times there can be some major shipping fiascos happen and here's a few tips that can really help out if you're going to ship a vehicle here or a shop somewhere else or to a family member or whatever the reason may be we do have air tags out now that can be used with an iPhone that you can place in the fender or in the engine bay or wherever somewhere Secret and you can track where your vehicle is at all times because the likelihood is it's going to be late with shipping oh we had a tire actually Tyler from hoovie's garage and me actually have a weird little jingle or a song that we sing my truck broke down my tire blew uh we actually have a crazy song that goes with that because this is such a problem they always lie oh my tire blew out I'm going to be three days late put an air tag on it and you can see exactly where it's at all times so you can get an idea hey I'm broke down in Indiana and you look on your air tag and they're in Michigan you can say bro you're not even in Indiana what the hell are you talking about air tags can be used for creepy things you can stalk people or do weird things but that's not what we're doing here this actually can be a cause for good you can see where the hell your vehicle is the second tip I have is when you go to pay for the actual shipping or they be swiping a card or sending a check or whatever make sure you get a receipt through email or in the mail or whatever once you get that receipt make a copy of it a PDF or mail however you like to do it send a copy of it to the person or shop or whatever that's going to be receiving the vehicle so that when the shipper arrives and say we we got to get this bill page you can take that receipt and say nah bro it's already paid when they tried that on crazy D on this truck which they multiple shipping companies have tried this on crazy D but he's he's a word to the wise he knows what's going on and when they try that with crazy D he said oh well just take the truck and put it back onto your trailer and get the hell out of here then because we ain't paying you nothing the shipper got all of a sudden changed his tune oh actually I looked in my records it's already been paid no worries don't worry we'll get it off the trailer here and everything's good to go sorry sorry it was kind of a mix up there the third one you can really tell a lot by the shipper when they arrive by the way that they conduct themselves the way they drive the trailer or whether they have to back up into your area or or whatnot and how they handle the loading and the unloading of the vehicles when this shipper arrived with this truck he tried to back in and almost I don't know where he was going almost like he's going to run into my building then he's all jackknifed out here in the middle of the lot then he calls crazy D from the parking lot to the office which is literally 20 steps away where do you want this thing crazy D said just pull it out on the driveway we have here you got plenty of room to unload so he did that then he stands at our front door the office door he doesn't walk in the door he calls crazy D again and says where's your office how do I get in and crazy D says you're looking at the door walk through the door and the guy turns and walks and starts walking across somewhere else away from the door finally I was sitting in the office I saw this transpire and I walked out the door I said right here and I was waving my arms right here this is where you go oh the guy said okay it's like what what are these people thinking so when they're unloading and loading the other customers cars and trucks watch them if they're banging and knocking and tires coming off the track and doing weird things you may get a bad Vibe and be like no you know what let's just call it off right here I don't like what I'm seeing because if you say oh you know I just kind of have to bite my tongue and deal with this no you don't they might get your truck or car up on the trailer and fall off the trailer so that's definitely tip number three there so enough about the truck there's been lots of comments lately where is the 308 where is Mrs wizard Ferrari where is my Ferrari you want to know the answer to that yes in the description
