[Music] hey guys and welcome back to teller too today on our slash pro revenge I have a couple stories you guys are gonna enjoy let's dive in forget to clean up fine everybody gets free cable free children my wife and I purchased our first home we were very excited to be homeowners we were particularly proud to show off all of our gardening and yard skills we have developed over the years of childhood chores don't tell mom but who knew that seemingly punishment of yard work would actually translate to adulthood we are off to a great start with the meticulous yard spending way too much time and money on my small suburban lot is the utility box for one of the two cable choices in the neighborhood just to clear things up EE stands for evil empire along the evil empire Corp you know the one who Forbes always lists as one of the worst companies in the country I come home from work one day and notice that the utility box is open and the cables are fleeted all over I did not think too much of it at the time and made a mental note assuming they were on a break the next day I come home from work and the utility box is still a mess I called the evil empire cable company to kindly let them know that they have left a mess in my yard after a repair they told me nicely that they will be out in the neighborhood the following day to finish the work many weeks come and go without them fixing their mess it was coming up on our first pool party and we wanted the house to be perfect I called the evil empire cable Corp again not to bore you with the details of the conversation but ended with a rude ending that they will be out there eventually now I'm seeing why nobody likes this evil empire cable company at our first pre child pool party maybe after a margarita or four we start aimlessly discussing the evil empire cable Corp now we are a bunch of engineers and a truck driver important later drinking margaritas the discussion turned from complaining to scheming while poking around the utility box and the box on the side of my house we noticed that this evil empire cable Corp does not use multiple line blocks on the cable they merely hook up the cable from the house to the utility box easy peasy nice and easy I am guessing the lack of security is a genuine artifact of the Midwest nice why protect something that nobody steals we also noticed that there is only one house of the eight that is serviced with cable so we proceed to hook up free cable to the seven remaining houses we neatly stuff all the wires and close the utility box as I mentioned the non engineer in the group was a truck driver an earlier pointless discussion was about different padlocks and why truck drivers use a specific round kind basically so that it's impossible to break with small bolt cutters he grabs a large round padlock out of his truck and we try to place it on the utility box it won't fit the hole is too small so a few seconds of drilling we've now placed our own padlock on the evil empire cable corpse utility box along with seven houses with free cable protection by an industrial padlock designed to prevent trucker theft after meeting the other neighbors and making sure they are trustworthy I let them know about our party each one smiled and began enjoying free cable a number of months later enjoying free cable the evil empire cable Corp is in the backyard starting at our handiwork they bend over regularly really studying the padlock I can only imagine their discussion on what they were seeing they bring out the bolt cutters from the truck I assume they carry them if they lost a key or padlock is rusted now looking at the bolt cutters I can tell this will be a futile exercise after only about three minutes they both shrugged their shoulders get back in their truck and leave that was the last time we ever saw the evil empire cable company since all but one of us was enjoying free cable there was no reason for them to be out here our gig was up when the one who did pay for cable who we never really met moved the next technician was very dedicated after three trips each with a larger bolt cutter resulting in using one more than four feet long put everything back to the way it was before and thus concludes the story of seven houses enjoying free cable for more than for years because of the laziness of a single technician and rude customer service rep bully my grandpa well enjoy being stuck in a pulpit for a back story the story isn't mine it's my grandpa's since he died before I was born this has just been one of those family stories that I've heard since I was a little girl my family has a lot of those which I may tell if I have the willpower to do so but it may not be a hundred percent what happened but the main points were a bully got covered in poo bar okay my grandpa grew up in rural Iowa I'm not gonna say where exactly but Iowa is basically all cornfields anyway so you probably got a mental image in your head already he was always a stand-up guy and despite this happening over 70 years ago at this point you can still hear people speak very highly of the boy scout of a man that my grandpa was I sincerely wish I knew him at this point my grandpa was in his junior year of high school and despite being well-loved in the community he had his bully everyone has that one bully his bully though just seemed to be a dick to everyone teachers parents kids hell there was even a small-town cop fresh to the force who got bullied at one point no one seemed to stand up to this stupid little high schooler that thought he knew everything it got to the point where he'd go out of his way to brag about it to people this did not sit right with my grandpa but he did really know how to stand up to him without making things worse when it came to how he was being bullied but one day mistakes were made my grandpa was getting a pop at a gas station with his friends and this particular gas station had a restaurant attached since it was a good spot for people to pass through on road trips or for a truck stop in the restaurant was the bully laughing loudly with his little weaselly friends my grandpa listened just sipping his drink and heard that they were going to pull a prank on an elderly woman that owned a farmhouse nearby this woman's house wasn't in town since her family had built that house long ago and worked the land around it she was widowed her children had moved away and she hired people to help her maintain the place despite her age I've been told that she was still a Spitfire and insisted on doing a lot of the farming herself the main issue with her health was heavy lifting anyway back to the supposed prank this woman didn't have indoor plumbing which meant that she got water from a spigot near her house and that she had an outhouse instead of a normal bathroom that we had today for those of you who aren't entirely aware of how Iowa farm outhouses work it's basically a big pit on the ground that someone digs and then they stick a wooden shack on top of it the shack then has a seat with a hole in it for the person to relieve themselves in the bullies were going to wait until the dead of the night so that they could tip the outhouse over my grandpa was furious when he heard this he had been hired before by her for summer work and knew that she was a strict but kind woman that didn't deserve to be treated like that because when you're only outhouses tipped over and you gotta go there's no way you're gonna be able to lift it and there's no way to safely crouch next to the hole without falling in so my grandpa did the right thing and immediately went with his friends to tell the old lady what was being planned they expected her to be furious when they told her the story but instead she sipped her coffee and gave me a chilling smile let them she said but we'll have a surprise for them and she let them in on a plan to make sure that things wouldn't go as far as the bullies had planned that night my grandpa and his friends telling their parents that they were at one another's houses to hang out all gathered at the old woman's house munching on some cookies and pumpkin bread my grandpa got the recipe offer and it's an amazing recipe that my family uses to this day and waited at around 11 o'clock they heard disgusting screams from the direction of the outhouse you see the way that the yard was set up was so that there was only one way to get into the yard and still have enough room to take a running start to tip the outhouse over my grandpa and his friends didn't tip the outhouse over but they did move it over about five feet and lightly covered the now exposed hole in excess corn stalks from the harvest the screams were from my grandpa's bully being waist deep in human excrement the bully's friends were frozen in place by the gate they came in and the old woman immediately turned on the lights and started yelling that if they didn't get off her property that minute but she was going to call the police my grandpa and his friends waited inside and heard the whole thing laughing when they heard the pitiful cries from the poop it and the running of the feet from the co-conspirators wouldn't you know it he couldn't get out himself and since he wasn't getting off her property she called the police my grandpa and his friends watched from a window as the poofy was dragged out of this rancid prison and made to go to the police station to explain just what he was doing he wasn't an adult so he wasn't charged from what I was told but word got out around school and his last two years of high school were absolute Shiite no one knew it was grandpa and the old lady never told a soul how I made the worst employer in the world lose a multi-million dollar account to be honest the I in this title is not me but a former colleague who does not have a reddit account we worked together in the same ad agency I will give my personal contacts first and then write her story exactly as she told me we worked together in one of the biggest ad agencies in my country she was a director and I was a manager in different departments it was a global group but it honestly sucked I quit because I was burned out it had a game of Thrones politics and daily occurrences of both sexual and moral harassment that place was the worst professional experience and one of the worst personal ones I have ever had freak them now for the story it is a long one I was hired as an Account Director for a huge ad agency let's call it FFC my account was one of the top five accounts in the agency and was worth at least seven digits my boss the accounts VP was one of the worst human beings I've ever met he was sexist rude and liked to play favorites when I got there as a young and okay looking woman I instantly became one of his faves he was married by the way one day we left a happy hour together and he offered me a ride I live nearby him so not overthinking it I accepted he made a move on me I politely refused and left the car after that my life became a living hell he would not include me in the important meetings and then complain I didn't know things that were discussed my reviews went from five stars to one he pretended he didn't remember a race he had promised he would talk with my team and ignore me the work which was already hard I worked 80 hours a week became unbearable I almost quit I had a long conversation with the agency HR which went nowhere because she was his personal friend I even escalated it to the president with whom I had a friendly relationship with and he said I was reading too much into things one thing I did write though is that I had a great relationship with my client so they were afraid to fire me I had helped save the account which was almost lost when I was hired so they played the smart hand they hired a girl who had worked with my client on his former company with whom he had a friendly relationship with to replace me they then put me aside on a smaller account which was on the verge of being lost so they could justify firing me when that happened but then I got lucky my original client got promoted and opened a marketing manager position under him when I applied he even skipped a few hiring steps this was October and I was to start on January I asked him not to disclose the agency he had hired me until I had the chance to tell them myself the position would not work directly with the ad agency and I no longer managed their account so there was no conflict of interest and he said okay honestly he couldn't care less I was planning on giving them my one-month notice required in my country on November so they could have time to find someone else I was fired October 31st it would have been the worst experience in the world if I had cared the vice-president asked me in his office to fire me he said no one would believe me that I would never find another job in the market that I had Rotterdam out to HR that I was incompetent and all the worst things someone could have said he sent me to the HR to sign some papers and told me to leave the building afterwards I recorded him when I went to HR the woman in charge sat me down and kept making snark comments about me not appreciating working for one of the biggest ad agencies in the world that I could have been great it was surreal being fired in my country grants people a fair amount of money I would have received around five month paper the law she wanted me to sign papers accepting that I said no and played her the recording from the vice-president she went pale because she knew that was a lawsuit and also that the global team would not like it at all I left that day and I said that I would contact them through my lawyer never said anything about my job lined up the next week I my lawyer my recording and a bunch of other documents emails text messages sat down with the agency to negotiate I ended up with over 15 months pay both parts signed an NDA which included me saying I had quit then I took a two-month vacation told my new boss I had made a deal while quitting but that I had not disclosed I was going to work for them he said he would tell them himself not to worry comes January and I start my new job my boss then tells me that since I was the one with the most experience in advertising agencies I would be a consultant to the annual deals for all the agencies that managed all their accounts this included allowing new agencies to pitch for us my boss which didn't deal with FFC anymore of course forgot to tell them about me no feeling in the world was better than entering the agency as a client it was the most orgasmic sitting in the meeting to see their pitch and watching the vice president's dumbstruck face when he entered the room I was nothing but nice made pertinent questions and smiled all the way through I ended up telling my boss in confidence what had happened he authorized me to advise against the agency said that if compliance knew about their behavior they would lose the account anyways they lost the account they lost three other accounts that same year the whole leadership was fired the agency closed and the vice-president can't find a job for his life and I just got promoted hey guys how'd you guys feel about that last
