on women and and and are against them for taking settlement money for signing NDA's and you had something really interesting to say about that I feel you know you took a settlement first way you don't understand what it does to you you can't work you're destroyed and it's also really the only way you can put them on notice but that you didn't like it but the other part of it is by perpetuating and coming at women and others with that question or comment it's really the new you wore short skirt you deserved it what's the difference a shaming and not understanding the dynamics of you know it's a very complex issue and and it's you know and then the people that make the rape laws are men and they write about how much it can be punished for it and we are the statistic one in five we know it's a lot more come on but it's it's this book is not brave is not about just that it's that would be a real downer no this is about how to be brave in the face of adversity so tied together my stories and connected them with just some ideas like what if you Ronan Farrow in Citizen Rose there's a scene where he says you're like the grizzled old man for the future that's coming back saying I have the information I have the code and nobody believes them and then at the end the twist is they were right you know so I'm sad when people come at me with that I also accidentally worked as a pedophile but I bet you have to you accidentally works with a pedestal pedophile and nobody told me the manager of Asian told me it was a man named victor salva who's on the registry and that's I gave an interview right when I started that movie but about the second day or first day of filming I gave it like we're in pre-production before the movie starts a man came out yelling in the neighborhood about pedophiles and I didn't notice like what and then I asked I was like what like he's just mad that they didn't hire him to work on the movie so this is what they do systemically but I will say that pretty much probably everybody's accidentally work to the pedophile and and I I don't take joy in that you know what we've been talking a lot about all the women of coming out and saying all these things and they have had so much trouble speaking up all these years have been covered up can you imagine what children go through I was thinking that today I mean these are adult women and we can't seem to grasp it imagine what a child has to go through I can't the thing is that I mean I can actually but I don't want to but I can't it's terrible and what people don't understand and and you know it's that part of you a big part of you dies who you were dies and you have a choice you can either slowly be taken down but in a way you have to get that dead body out of you and it's really sucky that you got stolen and don't get to be who you were it sucks but you can reform it's not fair but we can and that those children and what a lot of places have a seven-year statute of limitations right so if you have your old yeah that's changing I think that rage let's do that but I I think all statutes of limitations if murderer doesn't have one why why should i rate this murders the soul yeah several actresses created a campaign called Kahn drop that has raised over 20 million dollars for a legal defense fund to help assault that there's also everyone wore black to the Golden Globes in solidarity with the movement now you called all of this Holly quote-unquote Hollywood fakery I might know something just saying you know the thing is is that it's the intentions are good but I know the people behind it you know it's for CIA agents who needed good PR and I hope that they desperately help these women I believe these women really you know and you know but there's Justin Timberlake ash tagging my wife looks hot tonight hashtag time's up hashtag I just did a movie with Woody Allen so come on it is fake I wish it were and wish everybody was good I wish it wasn't like I'm sorry to puncture your heroes but sometimes these heroes need to be better well you've um you've created something called Rose army which is different and apart from the me to movement you support the me to movement I am amazed and can you tell me though the the difference in what Rose Army is an you know I'm I the Harvey Weinstein moment is a watershed moment in America that I think we're all going to remember what it was like before and what it was like after so what you have done is broken the silence and broken the ceiling so tell us about the Rose Army thank you for asking Rose Army is simply and y'all are members if you want to think differently and do better that's about it it's I I was my goal was three years ago when I trademarked rose army was to start I started hammering the word complicit I sort of hammering different like rotten Hollywood because it is a systemic it's okay you know like this country was raced like with everything they won't look at it but you have to look because that's the only way you can heal it then you get to move on and be free but people are so scared of looking at rose army is simply about do you think differently I think people like I was at a restaurant and I picked up my bill and the waiter wrote hashtag rose army it's really just a secret code and a woman senator party it's just like yeah I'm I I want to be 10% better my goal was to see if could move the needle by 10% and from every level of consciousness definitely I'm somewhere in the middle including my own can we wake up can we be more awesome can we be more developed my God Rose you've got a secret society all right that secret society of all of us you know it's just 10% more humanity because the construct of men and women going at each other like this it's not working so well so if we can step back to the macro the bigger picture and men who've been sold they've been sold an idea of what they are they're trapped in it the trapped and I see so many trapped and I I I'm like Oh be free and I know there's no tools you know in other languages they're a lot more descriptive English is like sad mad glad it's basic there's not a lot of words for this which is why me to hash tag works and well cuz it's a shorthand yeah rose army is also shorthand yes we ask you this because I'm I've interviewed hundreds of survivors of child sexual assault and and women as well and we I see how brave and powerful you are today but in those quiet moments when you think about your life or the over the last 20 years and what this has done to your life what what's been the most difficult part for you my sister and she didn't mean in a bad way but you see I was treated because the media largely at almost every major media place was blocked by him different people there and they were paid and I was number one on his target list for 20 years to smear me and create his false identity of like a crazy off-balance woman which is what they do to all of us you know so to every single person I met to an extent treated me that way and my sister when people asked her if she was related to me she say no she didn't believe it she I just came with so much baggage yeah hmm since you read the book you had a very difficult childhood your life has not been easy and you've done brave work just like the book says your should be happy about that really just about freedom that's so many of us are I always say it's like the guy in the Tarzan movie you know they always send one guy out there was some coke above there and we'll cover said no no I don't want to go he's this gold
