what's up everybody i'm alessandro and welcome to the slenderis today i'm going to review this baby right here the rolex submariner six digit with the ceramic bezel so the latest version of the submariner but before we go on huge shout out and thank you to at belgium collector on instagram he's a belgian subscriber of the standardist and he kindly lent me his piece so that's a gift for him a very special piece for him that's actually engraved on the back for me to review for two weeks so go and check his account and give him some love so again thank you so much so when i got the piece well obviously i sized it immediately to suit my six interest in order to enjoy it and then just after that i put a picture of the watch on the youtube community tab and on instagram asking you guys what you want to know about this watch specifically and two questions were asked more than any other and these are does it suit your six interests and is it worth its money so i'm going to answer those two questions along with the full review of this baby so without further ado let's jump right into it there it is and you can see that this is the 116610ln which stands for unit noir which literally means black bezel a tiny detail but i love it discussion right here you can see that this watch is sized for my small six inch wrist but i can still fit it on the cushion so it's pretty much impossible to have the measurement from the smallest part of one side of the case to the other and this is why when i measure it across you have 41 millimeters and this has to do with the maxi case which is already protruding here and there if you want to measure it from two to eight the thickness of the watch is almost 13 millimeters not including the cyclops the luck to lock distance is just under 48 millimeters so pushing the limits for a small wrist but still you can pull it off and you will see that just a bit later the end links actually extend past the lugs and you get a measurement here of 51 millimeters it has a 20 millimeters lug width and it tapers down to 15 and a half millimeters where it meets the clasp so if you want to get one of these the date version retails for 7850 euros and the note8 version retails for 6900 euros but this is if you can get one because if you want to get a sports rolex well you will have to go on the two years waiting list and let's begin with the dial so you have white gold applied indices so that they will not tarnish with time at the top of the dial you have that rolex oyster perpetual date inscription and at the bottom obviously those four lines of text so it's really hard to show you that on camera but actually the inscriptions on the dial have a slight sheen to it and you can see that when you're outside i think that's a very nice touch something that i didn't quite see in any other of my watches now obviously this is the date version i would have gone personally with the note 8 version because it's just a matter of personal preference but i think that when you go with the date it's best to have a cyclops when you have a sports watch it's just better to not try to hide the date i just love the fact that it's in your face and they're not trying to hide it it's just part of the design i like the fact also that the font is very big thanks to its magnification that is nowhere near anything that you can find in any homage i mean this is just in a class of its own and at the same time it is very bright you can see the the light is not hitting that dial directly it's from an angle and still you can see that date no problem in real life it is very very legible as you can see there's a blue hue to that cyclops that you cannot see on the sapphire crystal that you guys know is not ar coated but still it is pretty much possible to tell the time even when the light hits the this way you can still see the hands and the hour markers no problem so when i asked you guys what your questions were about the rolex submariner somebody asked me if i thought that the hands were too small and i don't think so i think that the size is just perfect and you can see that they are kind of just a tiny bit rounded you can see that when i play with the lights it is not a flat surface okay onto the bezel and as you can see this is a shiny bezel this is because it's a cerachrom bezel so basically a ceramic bezel with engraved graduations and actually those graduations are filled with platinum this is why it has that kind of color and sheen to it again just almost like the text on the dial it is not pure white it's a very light silver color which i think looks very very good and you can see that it's pretty legible even if the light hits that bezel at the right angle you can see that 50 graduation right there still possible to read it even if the light hits it the bezel action as you would expect is just perfect that sound is very satisfying and if you want to hear it in more detail i made a bezel showdown comparing this rolex submariner to many of my other homages out there and obviously this one well it's super easy to operate has a very nice distinctive sound to it which is very very positive and it lines up obviously perfectly onto the case and this one is made of 904l steel or oyster steel as rolex calls it and as you can see it just scratches like any other steel you will see on the bracelet as well some scratches and on the clasp also scratches you know this is your typical desk diving scratches and in that regard the 904l steel of rolex will scratch like any other steel watch what is different about this 904l steel is the way it plays with the light so actually the reflection of the light has a certain sheen to it the reflection is actually broader than you would find on some other 316l steel watches so the top part of the lugs and the top part of the bracelet are brushed and they have that very specific look to it when it comes to the light play back on the case you can see here just how sharp that edge is but at the same time it is not uncomfortable so you don't feel it on your wrist it doesn't hurt by the way this is one of the most comfortable case i've ever worn for a 40 millimeters watch with a electrolux distance of almost 48 millimeters so let's address the elephant in the room and that is to say the maxi case so i actually like the look of this maxi case the only problem is that it makes this submariner wear like a 41 or a 42 millimeters watch add that with the solid end links that flare out of the legs and you have quite a big piece for a small wrist i can still pull it off and you will see that just a bit later but i wish this one was a 39 or 38 millimeters watch with those legs just a tad thinner so some of you guys have asked me can you feel the difference when it comes to the steel and the weight and the answer is no there is just a four grams difference with my steinhardt ocean one gmt39 and both watches are sized for my six inch wrist so no you cannot feel a difference so if you've seen one of these in a window display or pretty much any other rolex you might think that this is a shiny piece but it's not guys this has to do with the fact that the ones that you see in those window displays are brand new and that there's some kind of special lighting so very small led lightings that really plays with those outer indices but in real life this is just your typical diver with no ostentatious sheen or shine to it obviously the bezel is shiny but not more or less than any other ceramic bezel out there so you guys know that the rolex submariner has a 300 meters of water resistance and you get a triplock screw down crown that you can tell with those three dots on the crown so this screw down crown is very easy to operate to unscrew and screw back in obviously you have a hacking movement so let me go out of the prohibited hours in order to change the date so second position change the hour obviously hacking movement go back to the first position and you can change the date from here you can see that small seal and let's screw it back into place super easy to operate you're getting solid end links and a plain metal case back just like any other rolex the reason why i'm covering it is because it's in great for the belgian collector i told you guys this is a gift and i don't want to spoil the message right here so if you go with the date version you're getting the caliber 3135 movement and the noted version gets the 3130 movement both have 48 hours of power reserve and you're getting a parachrom hairspring in these the average rate of the movement in this particular submariner is minus 1.3 seconds a day so within the advertised minus to plus two seconds a day and you will see that the rate actually deviates a little bit more or less depending on if you've been wearing the watch or not but still within 24 hours minus 0.13 seconds okay onto the bracelet and the clasp and i will have to join pretty much any other watch reviewer telling you guys that this is the best they've ever experienced that is true guys and look at this screwed link right here the tiny tiny tolerance when it comes to the screw it is flush with the link obviously as you've seen well this one is brushed on the top and polished on the side and i'm sorry it's very difficult to have a good shot of this without fingerprints but the real star of the show is this clasp it's super easy and super smooth to operate but at the same time it feels super substantial and you don't think a single second then this will fall off your wrist obviously milled parts right here in the middle and the real star of the show is this glide lock out with the micro adjustments and in with the glide lock so you just pull it out and then you can glide this piece in any position you like i happen to have it for my wrist right here and by the way if you're wondering there is still one removable link on this bracelet and the glidelock is set right in the middle for my six entries so i think you can still wear this one with a five inch wrist should you well i will let you the judge of that but you can still wear it no problem you will not have to mess with the bracelet here you can see the lever mechanism that engages when you close the clasp and then on top of it you have that safety lock and you know it sounds like it's precious but it feels super hefty by the way this is a pretty big piece but it doesn't feel like it at the bottom of your wrist and that is specifically true for my six inch wrist i was a bit afraid that this was going to be too big but the curvature and the size actually is still manageable no problem i didn't feel it and truth be told this piece is very comfortable to wear okay on to the loom shot and as usual guys i will compare the rolex submariner on the right with my skx013 on the left and as you can see right from the start well the skx glows green whereas the rolex submariner glows with that kind of aqua blue color which i think looks awesome when it comes to the brightness it's pretty much on par with my skx013 so it glows as bright in the beginning and it fades in time pretty much at the same rate as my skx now you will see a difference when it comes to the application of the loom on the rolex submariner it is perfectly applied and you don't have any kind of weak spot in any of the our indices or the hands and obviously you will be able to see this one through the night no problem so here it is on my six inch wrists and you might think that the luck to lock distance is too big for my wrist but this is because the watch is so close to the lens let me put it back and you will see that all of a sudden it works way better so obviously this is a big watch because of the fat lugs and the 40 millimeters watch case and 48 millimeters look like distance it is pushing the limits for my six interest but if you want to wear something with kind of a nice presence and you have small wrists this is still possible to wear no problem if you happen to prefer to wear it lower on your wrist well the impression will be in my sense even better so obviously when you look from that angle you can see that there's a gap between the lug and the wrist but still this piece is very very comfortable to wear day in day out i've been wearing this one for a few days in a row and no problem whatsoever it doesn't feel heavy it doesn't feel top heavy and you know just after a few minutes of putting this one on your wrist you just won't feel it it's just your typical diver um no no more no less yes it's a maxi case but it doesn't feel like it's heavy or uncomfortable not at all should you wear this one well it will depend on your taste if you want something with a bit of presence then go for it if you want something that is a bit smaller then this will not be your pick you should go with something that has a 39 or 38 millimeters okay so cheater black bay 58 or pretty much any other watch you can think of so by far the question that i got asked the most is is it worth it and to that question there is no clear answer so if you're looking only for the specs i would say no it's not worth it so obviously you can get a swiss made hacking and hand winding diver with 300 meters of water resistance screw down crown unidirectional ceramic bezel stainless steel case and bracelet for way less than that it's not worth its asking price and yes you can argue that you have a movement running at plus or minus two seconds a day and in house one and that but still if you're looking for the specs not the greatest option out there but this is not really why you're getting a rolex submariner are you i mean you're getting a rolex mariner because you want the rolex submariner it's all in the details the size of the font on the dial the size of the hands the way the bezel operates the legacy the original design the clasp that is out of this world good this is why you're getting a rolex submariner is everything about this watch perfect no it's not i mean you can get a way better finishing with a ground sacral watch or pretty much the same kind of finishing with a cheater watch but then again this is not where you're getting these now i didn't feel happier by actually wearing the rolex submariner now don't get me wrong is it a good watch obviously it is guys it's an outstanding watch do you need to go for the real deal i cannot answer that for you guys maybe you're super happy with the homage maybe you want the real deal and truth be told both options are good and for whatever reason you want to get a rolex submariner well all of a sudden the waiting list and the asking price become irrelevant guys if you like this video well
