Rockhounding GARNET CRYSTALS!! The Biggest Garnets I've Ever Found!!

[Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] so well today i'm out at the creek with the garnets and i'm up above it on the mountain looking for fallen trees like this hoping that underneath them i might be able to find a spot where schist has been exposed but all i'm seeing is phylite so far and right here is a little quartz vein there's a little bug right there with some horn blend in it and some less metamorphosed stuff kind of covering the whole area so yeah i might try and meet up with a creek now just over here i'm way higher up than the last time i was here i was at a waterfall down there so hopefully as i get higher up i'll get closer to the source but we'll see hopefully i can find it today but even if i don't it's still a nice day out it's been raining for a couple weeks now so it's pretty nice to get out [Music] well there's the creek again still in this pretty steep canyon but it looks like i could access it right here uh it looks like the creek's actually getting a lot steeper up there so i might not be able to access it anymore this is probably the last spot where i'll be able to get to it so if there's any garnets here then that means that the source was further up the creek and if there isn't any garnets then it's probably a little bit further down the creek so we'll see what we can find down there hopefully we might see something that gives us an indication of where the source is so get back to you when i'm down there [Music] still seeing the garnets as you tell here so i don't know hopefully i'm getting a little bit closer but yeah it's just a big canyon up here again it comes back up here three feet i'll just keep on hiking and hopefully i can stumble across it i don't know if that'll happen today or if i'll have to come back so yeah we'll just keep on going until we can't get any farther well i'm getting really close to finding the source now look at the size of that garnet thing's massive uh it's in a huge boulder which couldn't have moved that far down this little creek but the thing is it's really steep up there i don't know if i'll be able to get up there today might need to bring a piece of rope or something but uh yeah i'll try to chip uh try to chip a few garnets out of this big rock and i'll mark the spot out and i'll come back here another day to do some more exploring [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] look at the size of this one that thing's massive i don't think i've ever seen a bigger garnet in person in my life that's just crazy and it looks like there's another one just back here right there so i'll probably try and chip that one out and then i might move on and try to find the true source and i'll save this for another day to break apart at least i know where it is now that things nothing's massive though like holy it's crazy these garnets are just getting bigger and bigger like holy cow this thing's just huge like look at the size of that that's massive holy cow i really gotta find the source for these now that is just insane man i'm super excited about this spot there's garnet here garnet there garnet here a couple there there's a couple right back here there's a bunch up on this side so yeah there's just garnets everywhere and hopefully if i could find a source i'll have a good spot to come back to but yeah that's that's nice so i just pulled this guy out nice big garnet on there and some smaller ones right here i'm seeing like there might be a couple loose ones back in here there's one right here all covered in shisto and there's one right here oh that's still in the chest there i don't know if you see that yeah there's a garnet right there too they're just coming out of here left and right feel another one right there so i'll have to get that one out just want to get as many as i can before this one goes down man it's been a good day today i got all the shifts off this side of the rock with the big garnets in it there's a little more up there that i'll save for next time i got plenty enough to fill my backpack so yeah i found some really nice garnet clusters with some huge garnets on them some loose garnets and some nice plates i got a bunch of my bag already so it's been a pretty great day if you ask me i got to start heading down the mountain though because sun's starting to go behind the mountain and i don't want to get caught up here in the dark so yeah i'll get back to you and i'm at the bottom of the mountain i'm down at the bottom of the mountain now it got pretty dark pretty quick so yeah i
