ROCKETGOD's HackRF One guide - part 2/3 Decoding Signals & Listening to Radio - LAB401

hey again pesters it's Sandy from La 41.com presenting rocket God's Guide to the arf1 today we're diving into the Practical side of things we'll decode poce signals play with FM radio and much more and now we've had enough fun watching people get in accidents get hurt die from cancer um so we'll skip pass that move on to something a little bit more fun like how about listening to some music say so let's change this it's going to get loud now let's change this from virtual audio cable back to where we can hear it yeah yeah yeah yeah that's annoying so let's go to wideband FM this is what you're used to FM being what's good let's zoom out now you can see all the different radio stations here not bad e yeah you just keep on schooling around and you can find all your radio stations let's move on to the next project FM radio with cubic SDR all these apps work the same gqrx same deal pull in your fm no problem now here's SDR sharp turn it down so you can hear me this one I got plugins Galore you can download it with the plugins from the RTL SDR website and this one's got the Radio Data here advertising for some Plumbing Lloyds plumbing. net all right let's move on from FM radio can do AM radio no problem for weather and of course we can investigate things like key [Music] fops let's check out some more tools for that so here's another fun trick using sdrsharp I've added RTL 433 plugin and it'll collect data from pretty much anything in the neighborhood you got people putting their windows up and down or their blinds up and down you'll have uh remotes um weather stations all kinds of stuff let's see just to show you that this is working to and let's show this window here okay so every time you hit the button it's giving you all the data on that packet all right real quick we'll play with universal radio hacker and we'll see if we can get the signal from this key fob and inspect it just a little bit we won't go into too much detail rolling code anyway so it's not like we're going to duplicate it let's go to all right let's open universal radio hacker and then I'm going to go to file record signal pop in that window for you guys okay and I'm going to change this to hack RF if it's not on there which it won't be I'll call this hcat fob go to now I'll show you real quick why we got to adjust the gain so if I record oh my gosh okay we'll go to usrp start stop sometimes it makes me do this back to hack RF now you'll see it's weak the signal is weak doesn't look great let's clear it I'm going to make the if gain 24 baseband gain 32 try again see it's much stronger okay you can also see it's changing each time save this save it wherever it wants okay now let's go to get out of here you can see it already pulled it in got binary data down here and just choose what you want inspect just one signal the whole [Music] thing you go to analysis you can see it's way more data Mark the diffs you can see what's different so only the diffs now some things you can do the signal a few times you can see that only the last bits are changing or whatever and then you can play with those bits but it's not going to work with rolling code on a key fob but this is just a good example of how you can actually get the signal into your computer and analyze it now this also gives you a list now you can see somebody has used a remote to change their light intensity to 132% it's pretty bright maybe they're cutting someone's hair or something I don't know maybe possible but this won't come up in the list because it's not something that's registered with them you can see it it's it's seeing it but it doesn't have a database for every key fob that would be a horrible idea so you can just leave this let it run and run and run and run and even come back in like 4 hours and see what in your neighborhood has been going on I've left it on in the morning and I could see somebody wakes up they turn on their light they turn off their fan they open their blinds and then they turn on the TV you can just watch them all the way through their process of waking up um right now apparently only someone trying to Blind someone is is in the neighborhood doing something but um you want to watch for a while you can but I don't think we have time for that so let's move on to the next thing that wraps up another informative session about the rarf one to purchase a ar1 yourself head over lab.com where you get the best price and the best service and of course catch up with the rest of these video series with rocket God got a question or want to share your own ARF projects drop a comment below if you like this video don't forget to hit the like button and subscribe for more content like this take care and see you next time
