it was it was summer on wednesday or thursday and it's uh it's winter now as rob was saying right yeah we had extended summer right into winter really it does feel more like january eight than sitting november eighth and you saw the video and pictures of the snow in the sierra but you didn't have to head up to the sierra over my shoulder this is lake observatory where we did get some snow enough that it did stick when we had some of the clearing off to the east of san jose you might have been able to see that so needless to say if it's cold enough to snow near 4000 feet around the bay area we're going to be seeing some chilly temperatures around the same time frosty start to the morning in a few areas we're talking the wind sheltered valleys other places will deal with some breezy conditions that will give you a bit of a wind chilled effect toward the feels like temperature it's going to be a little uncomfortable for tomorrow now we do have more storms coming up later this week and the best potential for potentially significant rainfall could be up around the north bay especially as we head towards friday and next weekend outside the story is the cold as we show you some of the current temperatures a lot of blue on the map there you see 39 degrees in morgan hill and los gatos 44 in san jose we'll take you on a quick tour and you'll notice that there's not much wind right now in san jose but 44 degrees 9 o'clock again this does feel more like winter outside right now 49 in san francisco a bit more mild near the bay look at walnut creek already down to 41 degrees and the tri-valley is well also at 41 degrees i think by 11 o'clock tonight we'll see a few areas approaching freezing around the north bay and that seems to be the location for those wind shelter valleys 3 a.m to 9 a.m coldest part of the morning some low 30s some of the wind sheltered valleys a bit farther inland up towards northern solano county and north of sacramento could see upper 20s over the next couple of mornings so the thing that's going to be interesting to watch are the wind speeds where we get these wind sheltered valleys that's we're going to find the cold temperatures meantime it's gusty breezy and uncomfortably cold up on those higher hills there of napa county and inland so for the morning lots of 30s for the valleys 40s bayside we'll see high temperatures tomorrow with high clouds no showers no hail no local snow but those clouds will kind of keep things cool when we're trying to warm up from those 30s for the morning so we're looking at highs in the upper 50s to near 60 for tomorrow afternoon so the forecast for the middle part of the week does stay dry you'll notice that we begin to see changes as we approach thursday and here is a sneak preview of the long range outlook in terms of rainfall so what you get your attention is the rainfall projections there around the north bay you see some orange and red showing up on that map these are locations we think could see potentially maybe up about to two to three inches of rain as we head towards next weekend really two storms are tracking for you the first one coming in there thursday into friday you see it right there second system for the weekend may have a bit of a bigger punch for the north bay but notice they're also moving in over the ocean so that holds better promise of actually seeing more rain as we head into let's say thursday night friday into the beginning of the weekend so not as low in terms of the snow levels but potentially better rainfall so we slowly but hopefully surely start to work our way out of fire danger and fire season so the long-range forecast still looking good a little cooler than we'd like to see maybe this early in the year but the long-range forecast does bring much needed rain and more see our snow our way heading towards the weekend back to you thanks very much
