This is kinda wrong though. I'm a leftie and had to play drums on a right-handed set pretty much all my life (Unless you feel like moving stuff around all the time). After years of playing drums your right hand is going to get better because you'll use it more often when drumming the traditional way (crossing your right hand over your left).
What defines Ringo is his style, which can be partly inspired from being left handed in the first place (I can understand this, I can do rolls with my left hand better than with the right one because that's my trained hand), but it's far from being the reason why he is hard to emulate. He had a great sense of musicality and rhythm despite being very average in technique and flash, and that is what makes Ringo a fantastic drummer.
And because he's sneaky good and understands music better than 99% of drummers.
He was the emotional soul of the group. Never nasty and stayed on good terms with everyone. My favorite of the Fab Four.
I didn't even know drum sets were specifically handed.

im surprised more left handed drummers dont play on right handed sets
That would be easy to fake as described... if youβre right handed just play a left handed set...
People really arenβt willing to invest much in it or thereβs more to it Iβd imagine. (Though I havenβt heard anything about copying ringo star in the first place.)
Well that is just straight up bullshit.
As a lefty who plays right hand setup kits and loves it, this made me really happy. :)
