hi everyone really good to see you again you hear the seagulls in the background where are we loads of you said oh I bet you don't go there today we're in Cornwall we've come to padto take a look at this Harbor now this is my first time here wow the dreaded seag gos are everywhere though got to be careful if you get fish and chips I reckon now where are we going I tell you what come with me [Music] just over there is Rock I'm going there tomorrow this ain't really exciting comeing in but I'm here for one reason got to say it's quite strange because the reason is I'm going to my mate Rick Stein consider him my friend because I really like his programs I done I went to Barns I went to his restaurant I thought it's pretty good so I consider him a good mate he doesn't know who the hell I am but I consider him a really good friend now we're going to get a takeway because the restaurant's really busy I've just Tak a look he's got a deli over there and he's got fishmongers he's got it all going on he basically owns the the almost the whole shebang yeah now loads of you say Gary don't do it don't do it this is on down to me guys as always let's give it a go it's a Crossing as well can't get knocked over [Music] [Music] [Music] here okay so I've placed my order this fell will uh buzz when it's all ready now just to let you know what I've ordered actually before I do that everything's cooked to order and is all done in beef dripping as well so it's bit interesting it' be interesting to compare it to how good whiy was have five F chips up there got to say all of them top draw pricewise well what have I ordered I've ordered a regular Cod portion of scampy some chips mushy peas gravy TARTA sauce I actually went for the curry sauce and they've run out curry sauce so clearly they've been busy today yeah um I'll give you a quick B down on the prices just while we're waiting uh regular Cod was $195 the scampy was $195 silly really because when I was up in Whitby the home was scampy that's where I should have had the scampy isn't it uh chips 395 the mushy peas 175 the gravy 175 and the TARTA sauce 175 grand total 31 10p got to say wh be it's far cheaper I've got to appreciate I know PTO is a very touristic town but come on Qui beers as well you know and pictures- wise there's not an awful lot between it so yeah okay just wait for this fell to buzz away and then we'll take a look okay yes it's buzzing I do get excited about weird things h i okay protction okay got the goods we're actually in a car park so I've got to find somewhere to sit right shouldn't take too long come down time to assess the the goods so let's dive in here first T okay hang on a second is that it okay that's me that's me Cod no there must be more than that that it right hold on a second on to the scampy guys I'm not knocking Young's scampy but that just looks like young scampy I actually thought it was going to be his own scampy that's yeah now chips nice portion of chips no issue there and these must be my source my sources my miniature sources they are tiny pots oh my God the TARTA sauce comes in a one of them well Rick what are you doing to me first impressions I'm not impressed I mean just hold on a second here got the bill in my pocket don't fly away you got to bear in mind that's £31 10 worth of food £31 MP that's got to be the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen D me right let me get a little bit organized um get the enthusiasm going again and uh yeah i' got to say First Impressions I'm not impressed really not impressed yeah first time I've ever felt like that to be honest [Music] [Music] right I've kind of got myself a little bit organized let's take a look over here first of all that's my mushy peas all two spoonfuls of it then um my dollop of gravy tart of sauce the the um Frozen scampy I'm going to say that in advance um my um Sprat of a piece of cod and portion of chips quite healthy not too sure what this Greenery is doing around but uh yeah where do I start it's got to be with the Cod isn't it let's get a squeeze let's get some life into all this squeeze a lemon on it squeeze the lemon all over Gary as well right yep it's Christmas to the batter open it up first impressions I've got to say well let's let's dive in and try it the batter the B it is a little bit greasy take a look here you see the grease pouring out of it I think that's worrying me more than anything else is the fact I'm going to open it up there look how much cod's in there this is got to be the smallest piece of cod I've ever seen and again you take the look inside that batter it's very wet that c itself got a really nice flavor to it but it's minus scure import um portion wise and yeah there is some flakes but because the portion is so small I'm strugging to actually show you any of the flakes there look I mean portion wise come on Rick that's ridiculous I mean that's $10.95 that's just for the fish on its own $10.95 got to pay 3.95 for the chips on top now we going to compare it to trenas in whbe and if you take a look back at that video the size and it was had hook but the size portion of that hadock was massive and there it was it was so thick it was it all together you know pricewise in again in whp that was for the fish a chips I'm really disappointed okay let's let's try let's gain some enthusiasm I'm very I'm not really enthusiastic about this uh scampy I'm just going to try and bite it in half but it won't it did that is disgusting I forgot to BR a drink with me as well I'm actually quite annoyed I'm really sorry I was stand corrected but I don't believe that's freshly cooked scampy I think it's frozen I think I think it's a downright Liberty £10.95 for that yeah I'm I'm actually I'm actually annoyed right let's try the mushy peas they're not very fuorescent they're very dull in color you just see there is just a lump of stodge come on work with me boy oh boy let's try some of the Great hang on haven't even dived into the chips yet so leave that fell out for a second they're done in beef dripping they're okay they're the best chips again I'm going compare with Whitby they have um compare the five and this one six they come six I am really struggling I'm actually really annoyed and I apologize for that I don't never I try and look at the on the bright side of everything I'm always trying to think well yeah come on you know if this thing's good actually come on let's get with it this gravy should have been cry sauce but they ran out of that Hell's Bells the problem with that is one it doesn't taste very nice and two it's cold now I know I've been out here but I haven't been out here that long they're not cold nothing else is cold I don't I'm not even break my neck to try the Tata sauce I am really struggling here because how can I say I SP good money is it's not cheap you know fishing chips they used to be a real treat once a week treat what have you because you know money was tight and uh yeah You' go out and you spend um your sort of three4 pound and have fish and chips for the family um now you go out have this here and it's over3 and it is garbage there's no other word for it it's rubbish they are absolutely I'm not even eating them I'm not eating them and you know me I will not waste food they are rubbish I'll finish the Cod and I'll finish the chips I can't have that I can't have that now tell you my two favorite TV chefs Keith Floyd my number one love Keith madman um good as well loved his glass of wine that's probably why I really like him and I really like Vick Stein as well you know um again as I said earlier on in the introduction if you you look at my video bars there I um I really like Rick um but Rick come on you need to come down here and you need to have a look at this because uh this isn't acceptable if you think this is acceptable then you've gone right down in my estimations the portion size that is just again I'm I'm going to I'm going to pull that open just take a look where is the fish come on someone tell me where is it you know chips are chips you know they're not the greatest not the worst but everything else you know oh yeah for the sake of cuz I've got it there and I paid 175 for it I better try it no I can't even describe that taste and I love TARTA sauce now what I'm going to do I'm going to finish the fish that some chips I'm definitely not having the scampy I'm definitely not having the sources you know it's the first time I'm actually a little bit tempted uh to go in to a restaurant and sort of say I'm really sorry but that's not acceptable it's almost the very first time and I don't tend to do it because we do reviews but I'm actually quite angry I'm going to take a think about that um because I don't like actually doing that because it's not fair on all the other restaurants we've been to but some of this is just not acceptable portion wise no fish is good um but that's it so the reality is I've just come in here and I spent 30 for couple of uh flakes of cod and a portion of chips wow wow wow wow I I need to get a Coke or a Coke or water or I need to get something anything P of lger P of Guinness actually might have P of Guinness I'm saying tonight so yeah two three four five PS of Guinness something along them lines come on let's get a bit of happiness back into it all I'll sit here now dreaming of my P of Guinness tonight okay goodbye goodbye goodbye goodbye and goodbye hello have a little B quick look around I think it's going to be rain I'm give you my final thoughts in a minute what do you think what do you honestly think I'm kind of like I'm shaking my head in disgust you know it's disappointment more than anything else because honestly hand on heart um I have to really like Rick Stein I really really like him what I don't like okay is me being ripped off okay I'm going to go around the front and uh have a little quick think calm down Gary calm down get yourself a drink okay not good okay I've teared up a little bit so one experience of Rick Steins my second experience of Rick Steins but my first here in Cornwall my first V visit to padstone and I was looking forward to this and so many of you said Gary don't do it don't do it and you recommend ations are so good they are so good and of course I ignore you don't I so I come in here have my fish and chips and well I'm going to say about the fish the portion was so small the seagulls actually left me alone they turned around and they took one look and they said po poor sod there's not enough there for himself let alone for us so they left me alone portion wise that was disgraceful the batter it wasn't great batter uh yeah there was Christmas to it but it's fat fatty but greasy just all around not good and what got me was where was the Cod that was just a ridiculous portion wasn't it the chips the chips are good you know want the best they want the worst they were just you they done in beef dripping they didn't compar to whip bees I'm afraid the scampy forget it I'm not even having the conversation about the scampy that's it I'm not having a conversation about the TARTA sauce I can't have a conversation about the curry sauce cuz it wasn't any um the gravy forget it and the mushy peas well the glop of mushy PE it's been of mushy peas but it was kind of like one big pee wasn't it yeah all around you know I am disappointed I I can't put a spin on this today price I've gone through the price already Cod 1095 scampy 1095 chips 3.95 mushy peas 175 gravy 175 I tell you what £175 for that TARTA sauce I mean how much is one of them sachet give me two of them sachet and what's that 30 P or whatever how much f that 31 10p um I've just kind of got 30 not the1 10p cuz the 1 10p you know I'll accept for the chips if you like I've just burnt 30b I've actually just set fire to it and it's gone it's gone forever what Mark am I going to give it I'm going to give it I'm going to give it one I'm going to give it 0.25 and I've never done that for the little bit of cod because that was tasty and I'm giving it 75 for the portion of chips so I'm giving it a one I should be giving minus points there because some of that was just disgraceful and I should be Rick joking aside and there is joking aside people spend a lot of money they work very hard to actually earn their money okay and I come down here and yeah you've got a fantastic set here and congratulations well done to you and I think you're a fantastic guy I watched on TV stuff but you need to come down here you need to take a look at that take a look at the video okay and you think hang on is that acceptable is that acceptable to the normal working man to come down and actually get that I think he's sitting his dogs on me now um no that's not acceptable no that was just just wrong now You' been to padstone you've been to Rick Stein's please let me know all about it what do you think am I been too harsh there oh come on even the AR amongst you I'm thinking I'm being generous I was actually tempted to actually go in complain for the first time as I said and I was I was thinking what can I do here what can I do wellow but the good news there is some good news I got major plans for this uh next couple of days and I can't wait I really can't wait it's still I like it down here my first time in corn more first
