/u/savagegeese this has to be one of the most high quality and high production value review of a car I have ever seen and I've been watching car review content on YouTube since the first generation of auto journalism on YT.

Seriously impressive camera work and editing in this one.

Hey /u/SavageGeese.

That shot 54 seconds in where you zoom in on the headlight blew my mind. Trippy as fuck. Best automotive b roll possibly ever.

Otherwise into was just fucking amazing. The production values are Hollywood movie good. Reminded me a lot of the car scenes from Nightcrawler (you of all people have to watch this movie). The idea to tint everything red in the beginning worked out very well.

Keep up the good work. Hopefully your view/subscriber count will follow soon. You may also want to apply to do car scenes for movies. This is a great resume piece!

The intro is phenomenal, from the camera work to the editing to the sound design. Wow.

Engine and transmission are in the Redeye, and I suspect the suspension setup will be in the upcoming 1320 Challenger.

I think the only thing that won't come down the pipe anytime soon is the Transbrake. But that's nearly all software.

There's no way all that new hardware was developed for a single run at the price point they sold at. It'll all trickle down, or "waterfall" like the CEO likes to say.

Impressive intro for an impressive car.

That supercharger whine really tickles my fizz gland. Hot damn.

I [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hey sweetie how's it going yeah I'm heading to the store yeah I'm getting what you needed just wanted to know what the flow was like you know I'm worried about our health not just yours so I want to get the right thing okay well I got myself a Frappuccino a triple mocha caramel latte it's very delicious okay you don't have time talk that's fine I love you love you okay no matter what this guy's and I like my Hillary bumper sticker sir sir I think someone's following me I don't know what to do I don't give a [ __ ] okay thank you it's pretty good this is well lit this is really creeping me out man [Applause] what's going on man do you want to discuss something cuz I'm getting real ticked off [Music] [Music] the dodge demon you just enjoyed an intro where the point of it is this will convert or change somebody's personality whether you're a SOI boy or somebody who's a little softer you get behind here the wheel of this car and it turns you into a brute that's how you feel with your 4-cylinder passion this is so much horsepower and torque that your mind is blown but there's more to be said about that because this vehicle is supplied to us from try industries a company who supplied us with plenty of amazing vehicles like the track Hawk the zl1 1le and the Porsche GT 4 they are supplying this vehicle to us to do video to help support their mission to employ disabled veterans and people of disabilities so take a look at their promo video and maybe you could help to donate to them to potentially win this demon business 101 corporations exist to create shareholder wealth we exist to create jobs for people with disabilities when you show up to work here you're treated just like everyone else and you're giving all the tools you need to succeed and create a high quality product I got some self-worth because I'm doing something productive for me and for the continent one of the best things about this that people just don't understand is the impact that we have we're able to take employees that really feel down on the lock don't have a lot of self-worth and just curl them you want to mean by that is I've had individuals we've had individuals here that just find it hard to wake up in the morning they have nothing to live for they find it here they find the colleagues they find friends they find a career I feel that I'm treated as an employee because they understand that just because you have a disability that I mean you can be disabled and you can't do anything and here's something that we can do if we put our mind to work hard strive for the best I get treated better here than I was at previous some previous jobs I had there's no people don't harass you pick on your for being different we focus on taking an individual that is unemployable and giving them the skills that are necessary to accomplish the tasks not just here but hopefully for them to graduate and go on to other organizations [Music] would you want to win this hell yeah I would sell it in ours I would sell it and that's the interesting part about the demon when you take a look at this car the exterior what do you think what do you think about its appearance it looks pretty good it has kind of indeed they did a good job combining the classic like classic muscle car look with the modern you know modern technology and the look of it without being totally cheesy mm-hmm the interior seats are amazing it's extremely comfortable to some drives amazing - yeah it's very comfortable you could legitimately drive this all day and not be fatigued yeah we fatigued in your pocket though I put all the gas in it right I mean they did a really good job with the little details like the windshield the demon logo the demon on the tires and the demon the demon on the oil you can actually see out of this thing somewhat son like the Camaro yeah that's the visibility isn't all that bad and it has a distinct sound to it it has a street presence that a lot of cars don't have I mean I know the Camaro and the Mustang they they have every generation they get a little bit better but this has held up so well over time and now with the wide-body you know these beasts friggin tires on here it has a real presence to it I think it still kills me though your tread we're double zero so all the demon specific parts on here you cannot buy them from the dealership you cannot go and buy a demon specific tire without showing proof of purchase can you buy this tire from Nitto without the demon on it can you get the same tire can't you have to get a specific compound specific just for this car and all the demon specific parts cannot be bought for your other charger or challenger which is how they're gonna keep this exclusive so I was on a call with some SRT people and surprisingly with this car one of the biggest things that they've done is electronic programming of so many systems you now have electronic power steering when we first looked at the Hellcat it had hydraulic power steering and that was one of the first questions I asked them is why did you go to an EPS unit was it to save weight was at the save cost packaging and they said that the EPS unit actually weighs more than hydraulic system and the hydraulic system would have had to be upgraded to make use of these tires and that's why they switched over to EPS and the EPS system allows for hundreds of calibration parameters like Road crown adjustment it has more power they can tweak things for different drive modes things in the background that people don't notice where with hydraulic you basically have five calibrations you can't do much with it so they tie all these electronic systems like the damper programming the steering programming the stability control programming the transmission logic the ECU the way that it puts power down this a lot of the magic in this car is in all electronic tuning because the transmission isn't this is the same and the red-eye the hellcat there's only one change to this and that's the torque converter that's the only thing they changed everything else was was worked on with Continental which is one of their OEMs for the stability control and all that all the logic here was all electronic they took it on a drag strip they looked at data from laptops up and back up and back up and back how do we tweak the dampers how do we tweak the programming for the stability control the transmission to get this thing to put power down and they said that was one of the most exhaustive processes they had to do because this is totally different than a red-eye and a Hulk at all the tuning so the red-eye if people are interested in it the fundamental differences between the red-eye and the demon the red-eye gets the demon transmission and the engine but the red-eye gets the Hellcat suspension tuning and all the logic the only thing you can get with the red-eye is you have the option to choose the final drive ratio from this or the Hellcat it gives you the option to do that but this is very unique in damper configuration spring rates sway bars or Hollow and it's specifically set up for drag racing they set up the dampers in the back to go into full stiff on rebound and compression you're in drag mode only the front go to full soft for rebound and when you launch it allows the car to lift in the front it gives it more you know it doesn't have as much rebound if we transfer right weight transfer for drags but it's smart enough with the electronic system that it adjusts the dampers back the rebound goes firm after you're like at 70 miles an hour so it's stabilized as the car as you're ripping down is obviously would get unstable but the overall tuning of the suspension they wanted more like a old-school muscle car so when you're driving it has like you were saying when you drove it has this kind of weird firm rear-end and if you want to tell and they want it they did that on purpose which I thought was really cool and it's not like that in the Hellcat or the red-eye the other thing that they did with the demon that's very specific is they stripped off 200 pounds so from the factory all the NVH stuff like sound isolation sound deadening is all stripped off they don't have any of the coatings that the Hellcats and the red eyes have so this is a lot louder and as it should be it should be right and there's so many other little tweaks mechanically that they've done here including like what you asked about was the trans brake yeah I want to know how the trans brake works so if it's a real so it's not a real trans brake gun it is a real trans brake but if it's the same trans as all the other piles now the trans brake is exclusive to the demon and that was the first thing I asked how do you do it it's all software it's in the electronic control unit for the transmission in the ABS module and the stability control system it's all able to do that and it needs this torque converter which has a higher K ratio it's 151 and the Hulk at the regular Hellcats 131 and that's at stall speed it has a higher stall speed so it can raise the RPMs hold it higher at without turning the drive shaft which is what you want for a drag launch you wouldn't want that for like a regular street car so it's able to do all this stuff to give it the massive launch that it needs and you know hold all that torque but it's also using a torque control system so when you launch this thing its multi-stage you'll notice it launches and if it's breaking traction the first thing you'll notice is it's able to bypass a lot of the boost from the supercharger so that it's torque reduction if it can't reduce enough torque by blowing off boost then it gets into electronics it will work with the stability control system and then the transmission will get involved by up shifting temporarily just to get them and then right back down and all of this if you ever get to drive a demon and for the most part it's gonna be similar with the red-eye this is the most impressive part about this car and I'm gonna talk about it in the drive segment it's the way that this is all come together is really exceptional and you know we we argue about this with modern cars there's so much electronics that's like you're not driving it anymore but none of this would be possible without that well yeah but this is a different style electronic they got it right yeah it's not like they have asked it and doesn't work so well yeah so it's a big difference it is and Scout brings up a really good point is this is the other end of where electronics don't interfere with the overall driving experience it enhances right it's not taking it away the m5 for example the new one which I'll be doing a video on I think in a couple months that is all about electronics like every single facet of that car is electronically controlled in some way where it's no longer enhancing the driving experience it's just taking over this car still feels like you're involved and I think that's the biggest takeaway from the demon in terms of a mechanical well I still think they should give you a demon button you can press and turn all that [ __ ] off and see what you can do Leroy the back half of the demon all these changes have added up to 11 percent more traction things like these drag radials which have zero tread wear which essentially means you're going to destroy them if you do any Street driving don't write the track right there just meant to be dissolved into liquid the new Y tires and wheels on here are because they went to the wide-body when we looked at the Hellcat originally that was one of the things we talked about if you looked at the upper a arms how close the wheels were there was like not even a pinky's worth of space and they've had to widen it up so they could get more traction and I think this has helped tremendously but on the street the truth is this is probably worse than a Hellcat in terms of traction I can't put down any probably if all you do is just roast the tires on here Scott under the hood this is what everybody gets all dampen the shorts 61 dampen the rear end when you drive this thing you're right I've been damping the rear end a couple of times when bacon strips haha we didn't have a lot of miles supply and I'd say 99% of this was about filming you know getting all these shots it took a tremendous amount of time but this car is about one thing it's about fun in putting a smile on your face check out this clip of jack pounding it the first time [Music] and really that's what it is that's the the general reaction that's what you should be doing with this is having fun now you can talk about the supercharger how much power and you know how much power it makes the output it has a cooler that uses the air-conditioning system to redirect the cooling into the supercharger for your back to back drag runs and then you sweat your ass off in the car when you split your ass off in your car your road racing - so what the hell is the difference very early in the car for 30 seconds total yes the cooling system works well this is something that was designed to be pounded on much like they did with the electronic tuning of it the cooling system was also seriously looked at the last thing to talk about before we get this on the road is the weight as you can see we put this on the scales and I was completely shocked at the fact that it has a almost a 50/50 cross balance now it's obviously heavily skewed towards front frontal weight here it's almost 60/40 but the cross balance is you don't have to do anything that's already set up it's a really well designed car I'd be curious how much this air filter is because the problem it's got a demon on I know that's what I'm saying I mean even that has got a deep it's a demon specific part like the glass like I said you have to show proof of purchase or that you have a title that you own the car before you can get replacement parts so if you can you get this windshield for from a Hellcat won't fit this car there's a wider there's only wider here no the it's just the set the fenders are wider there are itself the frame is the same [ __ ] get a rock chip all that glass ain't around Awards 10 grand well that's what I'm saying I think there's a real concern about how long they're gonna stockpile parts for this so in a way you're you really have to plan on probably just stuffing it in a garage and if you can get spare parts for it do it now and stockpile them anyway let's take this thing for a drive we've done enough [Music] welcome to a drive-in the dodge demon and I feel like this might be one of my last chances to ever pilot this again because there's such a limited amount and it's gonna become a collector's car no doubt one of the things about it is you're gonna notice it's just like every other challenger and charger it's got the same interior some different seats some you know little different tricks like the demon logos on the seats but other than that you wouldn't know aside from the sights and the sounds of this beast and I'm gonna tell you something you know this is gonna change you and that's kind of the point of this video and I said the same thing about the Hellcat you don't understand speed you don't understand the whole idea of this high-performance v8 the supercharger all of this technology that so many people don't get until you get behind the wheel of something like this and you hear it and you feel it and the electric car guys are like all it's so much faster to have an electric car it's all instantaneous torque but you're forgetting one thing that has been around forever with internal combustion that is the sound the vibration and the overall feel you cannot get that in an electric car and I don't care how fast you make them this is something that is extremely special and you can't appreciate it until you get behind the wheel of something like this to get it and that's about it on the street because once you tip in the throttle for more than three seconds you're at triple digit speeds and all the fun comes to an abrupt end when you find yourself in jail and that is one of the most compelling arguments if you have like I said before impulse control problems this is not going to be a car that's going to be safe for you or the people around you and you know this is best use on a drag strip if the traction is limited especially if you're crazy and drive the drag radials on the street this is something you need Street tires to drive around on me even then you're never gonna fully utilize the 808 horsepower that you're gonna get from 93 octane it's just a strange car to me it is definitely a collectible or some but for somebody that really wants to truly utilize this on a drag strip [Music] or you can just do that and be an idiot you just have to be prepared for the consequences of that type of action and the running cost to replace tires in terms of the suspension like the SRT guy said it's kind of it's different from the regular Hellcat Hellcat wide-body it's firmer up front in different suspension modes softer in the rear but for the most part in regular driving in street mode it feels like what you would expect from a challenger the traction control can only do so much before you start fishtailing and I think that's the biggest downer of the demon even when you put on a regular set of street tires with all the stability all the traction control all electronics you just can't fully utilize this on the street well like you would want to the second thing is the brakes and this is something I noticed doing the initial testing and the intro these brakes are not up to any type of task of repeated stopping I I went back and I honestly rebutted them or I patted them in just to make sure and you know after about six or seven high-speed stops you're done and it's something you want to think about if you're gonna be driving this more hardcore or in a track situation which I don't know why you would do that but honestly that's one of the weakest parts about this car everything else is absolutely amazing so I'm just gonna leave this in straight-up Street mode because you've all seen drag launches before and I mean it's ridiculous so this is a launch in street mode nothing off just like a normal person would take off from a start [Music] ridiculous it still doesn't get the right kind of traction and I think that's the biggest disappointment after being in something like a track Hawk where you have the all-wheel drive and the car or the SUV can legitimately put down all its power this cannot and it's really fickle but the best part about this is how unbelievable the traction stability control all of the electronics are tuned to get this thing off the line and I think you're gonna see here I'm gonna do this a couple more times is the transmission logic is unbelievable and I talked to the SRT guys about this I wanted to know how long it took them to program this because once you break traction it does all it can with electronic with with electronics you know dumping the boost through the bypass that cut the torque and then it up shifts but as soon as it up shifts gets traction back its back down down shifting again and give you back on the power and I've never been in a car that does it quite as well as this or as fast as this does and let's see if we can get it to do that here [Music] some a the transmissions amazing it's so smart that I don't know I love it because of that I love the background information that you're getting from it once you get over the fact this thing is balls to the wall and that it is so fast and it sounds so amazing you have to appreciate the technology that's behind it and you know people ask well why not a manual transmission you know this is all electronically controlled and it is and there's no way that you could legitimately put down this power without all those electronic assistance you would just absolutely annihilate the tires every single time you took off and I think that's the beauty of it they've attacked this in so many different ways from sweet wheel speed sensors from boost control to torque control to the programming of all the G sensors it's just unbelievable what they were able to achieve and I think that's the best thing I can say about SRT is they may not have the newest chassis they may not have exotic materials or a huge amount of prestige but like the SRT set guys said they they know who their target market is and they do absolutely the most they possibly can with the resources that they have available and you know especially if you've been through different parts of your life the more energy you have to focus on one thing and you're not jumping all over the place the more you can improve that technology and that's what they've done here and that's why the demon is absolutely so cool to probably to have there to own or just stuff away until it's a million dollars in probably 20 years final thoughts and the dodge demon now bit lucky enough that my greasy little hands all over the latest SRT products and when I found out try industries was gonna have a demon I was super excited I got my FC AR up involved Kelly who got the SRT team ready to answer my technical questions and the more I dove into this car the more I realized it was special it yeah it looks like every other challenger in charger for the most part but it's what they did underneath they had to learn a lot about making a drag car it's something they hadn't done before from the suspension tweaks to electronic programming of the dampers of the stability and traction control systems the trans control and of course all the cooling and drag racing specifics things they did with the engine and you know the biggest thing that's demon specific we didn't even talk about the tuner crate which is one of the neatest things they did is offering it as a dollar option to people who ordered this car and try industries got this so basically the way it works is it took eight months to get the car and then you have to wait to get the car before you can get the tuner crate which took another three months and it you know it's just crazy but when you open it up the guys there they were so excited it was like Christmas for them the attention to detail from the branding to the jack the straps the skinny wheels of course you have to buy tires for them and all the individual boxes in there are so cool and then the big brains of it honestly though it separates it from the other view pretty much any vehicle does they include a race ECU that you have to take it to a dealership to install it's tied to the VIN number and they replace the center stack you know physical buttons there so you can enable that race gas function you put a 100 octane unleaded in here and it becomes a legitimate track car a race car for the drag strip and I don't know I've never see I don't think we're gonna see that too often and that's why you would buy this for the drag strip you want it used or win it please take it there and enjoy it if not stuff this in a garage with the tuner crate don't touch it and just wait for it to be a true collectible one day because it is very rare in that regard but here's the thing the negatives this is not much of a street car yes it has that sokar feel but so much of its performance is just a total just disaster I mean you can't use it if you drive on the drag radials what you're not supposed to forget it it needs a prep surface this car comes with a dedicated set of street tires and wide-body Hellcat wheels so if you do want to operate on the street you can but again I really think drag strip or collectible unless you really want to have the exclusivity of the Hellcat on the street it's I think I feel like the track Hawk is a better option for street driving it's more fun the all-wheel drive always hooks up in every condition or just a regular wide-body Hellcat would also serve most of your functions the only other negative part that I'm worried about is parts availability honestly you know took three months to get a tuner crate if you fry your ECU ten years down the road good luck getting parts good luck getting its demon specific parts in general so if you're somebody that's using this maybe work with the dealership and see if you can stockpile some spare parts and you have to be an owner to do that of course but other than that you know all the negative things to the Challenger and charger are still here I'm not really gonna delve into I just hope that they don't go to the well with this and hit a dead end eventually there's only so much power and power and power that you can add to this body before you really have to start moving into a next generation so I wish them the best and everybody else namely the patreon that make all of this happen so thanks I hope you enjoyed the video hope you enjoyed watching it and if you decide to donate to win this good luck to you take care [Music] you
