come on first Baptists I'm talking about your best Amen Reverend Scott is a almost feel Romans would call a little freer than a brother because to call them friend and a brother would suggest that we're channels but I don't consider myself an equal with him but there's just the type of person that he's been to me to my ministry Reverend Scott as I was growing up was my mother's pastor for some years he baptized my sister and he was one of the passes that gave me my first job back when he was in Estonia I would come by and he would let me come with his youth choir I think it was on the 3rd 2nd and 3rd sungazing and I was I tried to be faithful to that and he would give me a little check for them so I think I was about 12 years old 12 or 13 years old Bernie Scott has been that type of person in my life when I accepted my call to ministry Reverend Scott purchased me some books and gave me a 5 I still have that Bible that he gave him so I'm just saying that to say that you all have an awesome group man is a great moment in history first lady Kelly so dearly dead families so dear to me thank you - Reverend Marcus Davis for the introduction I'm a tosser I'm from Tulsa born and raised right here in Tulsa and thank God for that all the ministers on the roster to every officer in the church we preach in the name of Jesus Christ about happy to be saved [Music] in the early there was nothing ideas about my salvation but hey man I do breaky greetings from st. James Baptist Church in Fayetteville Arkansas and I tell you I come from the only state that's mentioned in the Bible the only state gets me in the back and if somebody else said I mean what do you mean by that Arkansas the Bible says if you turn to Genesis no one looked out the heart and some [Applause] somebody else told me that when we break it greetings not bro halfpipe crew I brought half my crew with me Reverend Davis said I'm happily married have two wonderful children a 12 year old and a tomorrow a 7 month oh and yes a big camera my second month over he got on the roll it is dead at this weekend and rolled down with he's not a good Road Dogg I thought he was going at least talk to me for 30 minutes but by the time we got away from the gas station the talkin had ceased and I looked back and his hair was just how can you sleep but I'm glad to have my son here and I have a lot of family which I'll just stand before me [Applause] hey my sister talked about my sister today I got aunties and cousins and a powerful commander that comes with me come to hear me talk about my family would you turn with me in your Bibles to Psalm 34 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] fathers have interests of your word that you remind people didn't come to see me they didn't come to hear me but father they have come to see and hear from you god I've studied myself full I tried to be faithful part but not asked about a decrease as you increase speak to young people call the spirit move in this place pray God that your people would be edified then you will glorify that the devil is horrified all people of God said Amen Psalm 34 Psalm 34 starting at the first verse have it say I believe that was everybody Psalm 34 reading at the first verse Rinat the ESV says this I will bless the Lord at all times his praise shall continually be in my mouth my soul shall make its boast in the Lord let the humble hear and be glad o magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears verse 4 those who look to him are radiant and there you never shall never be ashamed this poor man cried and the Lord heard it and saved him out of all his troubles the angel of the Lord kept encamps around those who fear him and delivers in a wonderful people's attention to that fourth verse says I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears for the time that's ours to share this morning wanna suggest this thought I've got something to show that you can have your seats in the presence of God would you just look to your neighbor to the left around you and say neighbor I have something to shout about last Tuesday I was able to catch the second half of the game between the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors what I found most interesting about watching this game was not how to run toe in that last quarter came back to beat the Raptors but more interesting I found the crowd of participation of that crowd as if the Toronto Raptors were losing about 13-point deficit that crowd was silent but a lot of cheering but a lot of shouting but after a couple of three-pointers and other major turnovers in the game that crowd got so loud commentator remarked that the stands seem to be rather than friends I couldn't help but notice that this is oftentimes a picture of the church we wait in silence to see what God is going to do before me and allow our praises to be controlled by the outcome of what God wants to do that sadly our church services haven't become similar to sports entertainment that will praise God for wins the lumo facing losses we're the son texts today because the psalmist says I'm not going to wait to see what God does for me a heart to praise him he says I'm going to bless the Lord at all and his praises will continually be in my mouth some scholars suggests that when David wrote this song it was not a celebration of God but rather it was a repentance to God before we even read the first verse of Psalms chapter xxxiv number of Psalms you'll read that subscript that tells us the purpose of why this song was written it's right there by what it says it's a psalm of David when he changed his behavior before a bill of length so that he drove him out and went away if you would allow me to provide context to this text story takes place in first songs chapter First Samuel chapter 21 David finds himself on the run for King song has no place to go no no house to check into and finds himself running to a city called GAD now this city might not be significant to you unless you went to Sunday School because this this city was the territory of the Philistines and for my good son to school people you know baby that had an encounter with the Philistines chapters before and they recognize big but as he came into the city as the one who had slew their champion good life to come before the P because obviously David was deserving of death when they brought David before this key the Bible says that David began to act like a madman I'm not talking about anger I'm not talking about people's fussing and cussing like some of us that he got crazy let's spin started doing all types of things to make them think that he was crazy back in that time if a man was crazy they just influenced so King Abimelech said get out my presence blow away and Dave his life is spinning David writes their song and reflection what God did despite his own attempt to save his life David even after he went crazy was still sin - no winner let me ask this question let me pull the crowd as we talk back to me I'm not trying to get in your business I'm not trying to be noticing I just wanna try to establish some commonality have you ever tried to work something out in your own power own strength only to find out all of your working left you know where you talk back to me I don't know about you but have you ever been in a situation where to try to get your hustle to get a little money in your pocket I'll bet to find out I'll know hustling gave you nothing and take you nowhere when my certain win David writes this song but we do know that reflecting the goodness of God and David says because God has been good to me despite what I've done I love me now to praise Him all time can I just pause right there to tell you the pre-work for all the times what that means of Hebrew word for all times just means all time it just means when he makes up in the morning I'm gonna praise God with my veins I'm good this [Applause] when I was in science there were things that we couldn't see things that were behind our scope of saying and so what we were doing sciences lens wouldn't change we don't change I'm gonna praise God all times gonna praise them when it's good and when it's bad when I'm happy when I'm sad when I'm up and when I'm down no matter situation he says I'm praising and my praise it's gonna be continued it's gonna be disruptive and it's gonna be an invitation Church and I love her dearly because the service can be trying to move on and this one mate no we will start screaming and hollering and and shouting and and and it really gets on your nerves child okay the church that you trying to move over the Serbs and it just seemed like one person this halls up the whole service to Brady's had to shout and to give God praise I submit to you brothers and sisters that ought to be the same with what she really is saying is I found a reason it's the First Baptist I don't mean the message of this morning but but maybe that's the problem with them Saints in Arkansas I'm not gonna talk about job this morning but maybe that's the problem sometimes [Applause] [Applause] let me submit to you never forget the reason why you please God never forget the goodness of the Lord and ourselves there are three reasons that I preach now and I'm rushing it the first one is Davis says the reasons I praise God is because I trust his presence but then verse 5 says those who look to him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed young couple moves into a neighborhood of the new neighborhood they get its lb in every morning they had a custom to come to the kitchen table sit down eat breakfast as they can sit down and eat the white young lady looks out the window as her neighbor is hanging up clothes on the clothesline she's looking at those closing these clothes are really burning see they know how about cheese a new soul and husband eating looks up that same thing puts his head back down tastes even next morning this became my habit without the neighbor to hang the clothes on what's wrong she got the wrong so been the husband just look up stop eating it and as she's going to the mill she looks out and almost drops the dishes and excitement she said look I clean the husband not really breaking stride just looks up early this morning and clean the window [Applause] [Music] is bright but we have another [Applause] of this generation I suggest to you that we ought to change the liens most of us are not ready at what I call seal oh I don't mean STL double imeem STP level what I plan about what we see and I've never meant for the believer to open operate by what we see but you said that the voice of God in your heart repeated with your heart and dismissed the miracle-working power of you remember the story of the life of that great prophet great prophet Elijah one day was confronted by some 450 prophets of being they have a showdown on Mount Carmel and the question was whose God is the real gun thing and by the Bulls I'm gonna say that they fight for hours upon hours the prophets of bill tried to get their God to come down my fire dancer my fire it wouldn't work I say it started to Tallman and then mess with a man and nothing happened in Russia through the story the Bible says that finally I said got tired he lied you got tired and said okay it's my turn after a while he called upon the name of the Lord and the Bible says that he answered him in fire and one day he lied too after that slew 450 prophets one man soup 400 that means killed I'm sorry Martin baby c'mon a turkey killed 450 that was the good side in one chapter if you flip the chapter over and you go right to the next one Isaiah gets a report from a woman named Jezebel that she's going to kill him and guess what this great prophet does he doesn't call on the name of the Lord he doesn't seek the countenance of God home the Elijah room and finds himself entertain this great prophet at one moment he had experienced the miracle working God next time because he looked at the role and was working from your life and spirit and the Bible says eventually God called out to him and said man get up still not work for you and it's a whole bunch muscle the news of the day because I see [Music] God says don't trust only what your eyes can see because you're not looking at it from my perspective David says I trusted that number one because I can trust his presidency I've seen him I've seen his presence and I know what God can be he says those that look at God of their faces are radiant they shine and they're never ashamed that focusing on the Lord will into another situation where you will never be ashamed by disappointed disappointments Meiko shameful situations may happen but those that focus on the Lord I'll never astray me look at your neighbor and say maybe I've seen above ceiling look at the reassurance that the psalmist feels vs. existence this poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles this little suggest that knowledge should be trust us presence but secondly we should trust in verse number six says this this woman cried and the lower earth and saved him out of this trouble number two you have to trust his promises please understand that this word cry did not mean a beautiful whimper of distress but rather it's a called of a person who knows whether help contain now I'm serious when I say this the hebrew word here for bride is para it means to address or to the cost someone by name you mister some woman right there let me they say like this the word is synonymous with Proclamation and declaration it's the same word that Jeremiah uses is in chapter 33 verse 3 when he says when God says to him call to me and out answer of this word suggest because we know God you are being the caller when when when when your water is off do you call the police when your back is hurting do you you go over to the to the took to Walmart was maybe somebody help me to get your son when women when you have a couple of issues in your mind be you go talk to your cousin we're now trying to make is that when do you know what somebody can do that you know and that's what David is saying David is saying I can trust God's promise because I know because I know him I know I can call on him and God made us a promise in Jeremiah 33 and 3 that if we would call on them he'd do two things he would answer us and he would tell us great and hidden things that we know none of you baby says uh I hadn't call him that he said that man cried to God and then two things happened he heard me and he sang to me he heard you know I like to talk to folk that's not going this I hate going through a storm and trying to bit and talk to somebody and they talk about me but the greatest one of the greatest testimonies that we have as Christians is that we can go to God and he'll hear us I told you that Jeremiah said that we could call him but then this next word he'll hear me is the same word in Jeremiah this is the one I like just a little talk with Jesus [Applause] he says he said it's time to talk about the reason I can I can please him is because I don't he'll hear me but not only will he hear me but he'll save me gotta move on but David says I can shout because when I called on God he'll save me in the situation and you didn't know what the outcome was going to be you prayed about it and it seems like after he prayed about it things just started crumbling here in the place I mean you didn't have money the doctors had given a home you might have even wanted to give up but it seemed my right in the nick of time God just worked that thing out and in intervening you know bad that's what some of us is telling us that you can call on God and He will say I cannot illustrate this point in first Kings chapter 20 there was a story of the Israelites and the Syrians and the Syrians were getting ready to attack Israel and they said you know what we're going to fight Israel in the battle because they deserve a god there's only about rescuing them get their own heals and God responds back to Israel and says go ahead and fight them in the valley since they said I'm only a god because he said I want them to know today is that we go to our valuables
