RETIRED Turbo Diesel Cold Start Revival

welcome to another episode of junkyard eggs today potentially the weirdest one I've had yet I'm here with my Uncle Tom a longtime fan of the show and my buddy Jaden again and we're working on that that's right I bought a service truck for a thousand bucks I don't know why but I did this is why today is the weirdest episode that is a turbo six point five liter Chevy diesel and I don't know a damn thing about him that's why I got these guys here hopefully between three of us we can figure it out Tom you probably had a few of these back in the day we did we had a few that we replaced turbo chargers on a lot of the new ones they actually had a lot of trouble with the turbo chargers on these because they work running them hard enough believe it or not so what the end up having to do they had to replace it in order to replace that a lot of times you have tape the cab off the newer ones to replace it it's an expensive deal I think it's wrong between four and five thousand dollars you can bring it into a dealership and have these replace Jesus so this one I don't think you would have to do that to that one it's right on them yeah it's this is a gimme so this doesn't look too they could be too tough to change but the newer ones are a whole different animal this could be quite a little interesting to get this one going speaking of animal it looks like we've had a squirrel or something living in here so I I guess the first step is to dig all this out oh I found something shiny what is that if you get insurance on this Kevin fire material too nice and dry and why we could get the fire department out early do they need to do a controlled burn we can see if it lights off yeah from there yeah I brought every side post I own and pulled it out of all the copper just went around every GM and pulled their stupid side post designs I brought them all along so I know Diesel's loved to crank and hate to start I brought all these and three booster packs Oh that'll never ever work no it is you need to wear bright pink is that the actual toast that came out that know what's supposed to be opposed give us the roxbury offer through the story is this was a service truck here for years and years and just kind of they got a new one they quit using this one and put it out in the back so it's been sitting for a year as it run in theory this should be pretty easy and all I said that it's gonna take all day and be terrible surprise oh oh it's a 5-speed manual this is Envy 4500 if I didn't mention and we got to first it says it's gonna have to take it cranks so I guess just turn them on just cuz they're going give it a little time it flashes for half a second we hear a fuel pump or anything we could shake it and someone can listen here I'll shake it you listen to throw in it okay find a fuel stick to the woods [Laughter] maybe since dry as a band let's go get some deeper so we're gonna go grab five gallons and try again what yours this 98 kevinturtle not a dirge just new you're gonna say something stupid yeah I hear that sound like bugs no take it back here that I think that switches because I can't get the it goes on and off them in the this is just cherry you like to see I love the seat it's a little hard on my posterior it's pretty good it's just short of it one thing about it you'll never bottomed out get the pump working back there yeah something at one point kind of ticking for a couple seconds maybe we've got full pressure watch your hands little help we're just put out the fire actually yeah we're leave that to her okay so what's this all about priming prime it you attach a hose here and loosen that okay it's first up or just loosen it you can't turn the pump off so rotated about half time did you hear that air come out and I got her there come out I think the bullying dry for one thing yeah I bet the pump might run now since there's no pressure yeah there it is it's coming out all right turn it off okay and go back on okay it sounds like something under here I think well yeah it's kind of got action a little bit a bunch of light all the filters and a bunch of extra [ __ ] down here yeah I got fuel now okay I'll be got we just learned something you know every day you got to learn something I thought I learned where the mirrors are they'll feel better tomorrow I stood up like this are you ready for action is they generally sure to do some of this [Laughter] damnit something on fire back there no it's just the probably the holes in the exhaust once air has been blood completely from the fuel filter housing which is done attach a section of hose to bleed off valve mounted the driver's side of the thermostat housing this is the hose piece probably it's just on okay so open it up well if the engine will run start start the engine bleed any remaining air from the system by slightly opening t-handle if the engine won't run then flame on crank the engine and tell rods thank you felt like one of those I don't eat it that's a runner feels full the pressure build up I'll play the switch definitely is goofy we got it well hey we got fuel here so it should be it should have anything here [Music] [Music] or remover it's been a little moist in there apparently it's calcium fluoride it causes a fluid in the tractor tires got everything that was on how to clean out of system anyway yeah how did you end up feeling that toxic it there was many there so I think it's a pattern well these goofy batteries on the DS oh this cool Pam [Music] unzipping [ __ ] I liked it but all the down I think it's all self-contained you can fold the heavy bolt that I have in shop floor you got you got an engine that Google the engine hoist thank you for the help sir so the seats got this big hole seems like this is the natural sitting positions deer head out the window how's it goin we beat the durbur I had a diesel manual the granite low is easy to drive and this is useless and but sooner mirrors cuz I bumped my head on that one outside I think we're going to be doing burnouts anytime soon we could probably pull a house if we want to do well the time to got the only gas station in town that sells diesel if we fit find out 30 dirty their soul asuno I lost the usage of first gear so that's fun there it is just leave this here I'll go put diesel in it cut please Diezel yes diesels have their place they're great motors for low-end quarterly bogging down and they get sometimes better mileage than gasoline motors I don't know if this is one of those times that sometimes to do great contractors it sucks
