welcome back to 69 minute fix on this episode we replace a toilet flange first step uh is to use your reciprocating saw and cut into the pipe on the sides like this in several places but don't cut into the pipe down below only just the first pipe next i'm going to try and chisel that piece out you can see now i've got the first piece cut all right that's clear so i've got it started now i'm gonna make several more cuts and get the whole flattened jump and there you have it kind of clean it up a little bit maybe give it a little sand and then we'll be able to uh glue a new flange right back in there that's yummy stuff that is good on bread okay all cleaned up it's a trip to home depot for a new flange and a spacer so that it sits at the tile height and not down below the tile and clean up inside the pipe i'm not really sanding the pipe i'm just cleaning it up i'm not trying to remove any material just trying to make it smooth the particular flange that i bought had a cap in here you break out with your hammer and left kind of a rough edge in there so i'm just going to use a knife smooth it out so nothing gets hung up on it i needed a spacer to go in here and fill up the space because the toilet fan should flip flush with the finished surface uh i didn't want to seat this in there and have it sink down into there so they make these spacers which go on top like that and i didn't like it i just didn't want my toilet sitting with a gap in here i even you're supposed to put silicone on it but my idea was i cut the middle out of it so that this would fit down into it it's nice and i'm going to put some uh floor grout and then sink that in there and that comes off real nice and nice and flush with the tile surface and this will glue down into the pipe and it should be rock solid once i put the mounting screws in drill down through the cement put some tap cons should be good to go looks good i'm going to glue the flange in the ring does rotate on here so i don't have to be too careful about which way um the mounts are because i can rotate it after so [Music] make sure you use the the right glue for your pipe i'm gonna oh look at that beautiful now your mounting bolts go at three and nine so uh if you keep your train ring trim ring is flexible make sure they're in that position if it's not you should have glued it in that position so i'm going to take these out and i'm going to drill some holes and screw it into the floor using some tapcons some blue tapcons and the bit that came with it and now we'll put the screw in don't wanna over tighten just want to seat it nicely it's not going to spin on me anymore and you'll notice i marked my drill bit so i know how deep to drill uh that's in there tight no movement this is going to be a really solid toilet and that is how you replace a flange make sure it's the right height should be sitting on the finished surface and uh from here it's just a matter of putting the wax ring on and seating your toilet easy peasy
