[Music] and young welcome to delightful i'm sure from the lineup behind me you can tell where this project is going i've made nothing but hardcore dragon custom since late last year so you just know i'm itching to return to my rainbowtastic comfort zone it's once again time to release the floodgates but i'm not alone in this indulgence today's doll is my half of a collaboration with h ali crafts we both can't get enough pretty colorful dolls in our lives it would seem we agreed to both create a custom art doll under the theme pastel rainbow then send those dolls to each other so let's get started i'll be using this scrappy draculaura for a base poor thing has seen better days i chop off the hair which is too gunky to save this time i'm afraid and clean off the factory printed face with pure acetone use a scooping motion to spin away the paint then clean up the whole face of the tissue the lip crease is tough to get into so use a fingernail or toothpick to dig it out there we go all clean some of you asked what base doll i used for my mini me i was also a draculaura once soften the vinyl head in boiling water then separate it from the body then tug out the remaining hair through the neck hole oh my gosh ew i think that's the biggest chunk i've ever extracted in one piece the head is now ready for new hair i'm thinking pastel rainbow bangs will look really cute i mark where i want the bang's hairline to be and poke fresh holes along that line with a sewing pin pinch a cluster of hair off the main hank loop it over the needle eye and poke it into the head i start with white then transition to pink lilac purple blue and finely mint green i plug it particularly thick along this line in the blue area because i expect it to part there later as for the rest of her hair i think filling in the majority with more of the mint green will look good draculaura's pink skin complements the mint green nicely after filling in all the holes and plugging extra thick along the part it's time to glue everything in place taking galaxy glue from the doll planet i squeeze a glob in there through the neck peg then swish it around with the end of a paintbrush while the glue is drying let's turn our attention to her clothes let's start with her main dress i'm imagining a poofy rainbow skirt so using my standard dress pattern as a base i take the skirt pattern piece and place it over my fabric hmm i think one rainbow across the skirt isn't enough it'll probably look better with two so let's see half the skirt pattern piece is about 11.5 centimeters divide that by six colors and you get two centimeters of fabric per color add seam allowance to each piece and we'll call it roughly three centimeters per color i stack all of my cotton fabric squares on top of each other to cut them at the same time if memory serves i bought these colorful fabric bundles off of amazon i think they're meant to be quilting squares but it's more than enough material for doll clothes and i got a lot of colors at once so it was a good purchase i'll link it below if i can find it again so i cut out 12 rectangles of fabric once i sew them together hopefully it will end up about the same length as my pattern piece section by section i connect the colored rectangles and here it is okay it's longer than my pattern piece but that's fine this just means the skirt will look fuller than usual as for the rest of the dress how about a sky blue top with white cloud-like sleeves and a white ruffle along the bottom sleeves always feel awkward but with enough pins you can get the thing to lay down just make sure the right sides are together because nothing's as exasperating as discovering you've carefully pinned and sewn a pattern piece on backwards scrunch up the gathered ruffle and stitch it to the skirt then attach the skirts to the bodice i stitch the back seam and attach snaps to finish the garment next up is a floofy petticoat made out of tulle i gather a couple layers and use a zigzag stitch to affix the tool to the elastic waistband once again i sew up the back seam and voila adorable miniature petticoat [Music] if i've learned anything about rainbow street fashion it's that layering is key so how about we sew a jacket out of this awesome iridescent fabric as nifty as the fabric is though it frays very easily so i coat the edges of each piece with glue before sewing it together i did use my oversized hoodie pattern as a jumping off point to make this jacket although i modified quite a few things to fit my vision i have a zipper but it's too long for our jacket to remedy this i measure and cut it down then take a thick thread and sew round and round the cut area until i've built up a thick ball of threads enough to stop the zip from sliding off then i stitch it to the jacket [Music] even a single loose thread can look noticeable on small doll clothes so to finish a seam i recommend fishing out both threads on the wrong side of the fabric before tying them off and the jacket is done how cute is that since i'll be sending this doll to h olly crafts i thought it would be appropriate to put a bit of myself into this doll i mean they say an artist imbues a part of themselves into every project they make but what i mean in this case is there's a lot of my own personal style going on here i actually based this outfit off a look i put together the other day with the dress and jacket sewn we can spice up the whole look with a bunch of decorations i've got whosits and what's its galore to choose from so surely some of these will work every decorah fashionista needs her fair share of bracelets for a start i've got some tiny legos and other random toys that would make cute beads so i use a handheld drill to form holes through these pieces i twist a wire through the hole clamp on a couple metal loops slip a sewing pin through the last one and bam earrings i string beads legos and charms onto an embroidery thread to make a necklace a new paint job and a heaping helping of charms gives this monster high handbag a cuter look i spice up this random donut charm by turning it into a brooch something i was inspired to do after seeing a similar item on patrick's doll using this cute pair of shoes i cover the black heels with lavender paint and stitch plastic charms to the front lastly i've got this neat headphone and cassette player accessory that came with a wild hearts crew doll i replaced the plastic cord with a more realistic looking string paint on a couple details and to fix cloth ears and bows to the top the last detail worth mentioning is the addition of those adorable iridescent wings i bought them in a craft shop last year and i've just been waiting to use them on a doll i wish my life size jacket had these let's turn back to the head i bind the hair out of the way for now then mask off the hair with a scrap of fabric take your can of sealant and gas mask outside or to a well ventilated area and spray the face with two or three coats waiting 30 minutes in between applications start by blushing the cheeks i tend to spread the pastel over the cheeks and into the eyes combining the blush and eye shadow into one shape i dab on her nose lips and eyebrow blobs lays the foundation for the rest of the face after a layer of sealant i go to town with the watercolor pencils i draw the eyes with a dark pink first then draw on top with a dark purple i also fill in the eye colors and i thought it would be cool to make this my first doll with heterochromia or two different colored eyes i want it to be subtle though so she's got one mint green eye and one sky blue eye things were proceeding pretty well a highlight here a touch of orange on the eyelids there but soon i ran into issues as i tried to darken the lash lines the pencils ripped away layers of color underneath and picked off chunks of the sealant why why does this happen with no other choice i turned to acrylic paint i head in with white to brighten the sclera and tried to wet the watercolor pencils and paint them on that way it doesn't really work that well i was trying to be delicate and keep the lines thin and dainty but i'm naturally heavy-handed so her face up starts to look a bit clunky at this point i filled in the eyebrows which might have been a mistake watching the video back right now i really hate them at this point nonetheless i pushed on and eventually i was able to pull it back and recover some of the finesse and detail that i lost i just had to keep trying and kind of brute force it with the acrylics until i was happy i tried to keep the paint watery and thin down to achieve long delicate eyelashes and i think i did okay the most fun part was painting on her facial stickers pastel hearts and dots cascade across her cheeks and i'm finishing the decals with a big old decora fashion band-aid across the nose i also decided last minute a shy smile would make her look extra cute so i dabbed white acrylic down into the lip crevasse to look like teeth after the final coat of sealant is dry i extract her from the hair mask and move on to styling the hair for some reason this green color lays down really flat all on its own i wish all doll hair behaved so well re-part the bangs and work a rubber band down around her head to hold the hair then pour boiling water over the doll's head to set the new position [Music] trim up the scraggly ends and she's done all that's left is to assemble the components meet estelle the embodiment of pastel rainbow fashion i'm sure going to miss this cutie but she'll be heading across the world to a new loving home soon so do i really hope my collaboration partner likes her speaking of which here's our dolls together head over to h olly crafts next to see how he created his pastel doll for me judging by the photo she looks so incredibly detailed with that delicate face up and super poofy dress h all these dolls often have a super saturated colorful fantasy edge to them that i love you'll find a link to his channel at the end of the video as well as in the description box we'll be exchanging dolls through the mail so stay tuned for an unboxing in the future i can't wait to see her in person until then estelle is off to pakistan thank you so much for joining me stay artsyong you're too cute you can get away with everything are you
