so here's the problem you want to do a green screen chroma key setup like this but you don't have a studio that looks like this if like me you're working with something that looks more like this then there's one problem that you're probably going to run into I can easily take a chroma key to remove the green background but what about all of this which still stays in the shot how do we get rid of this and this that's what I'm going to show you in this video using D vinion resolve so let's get stuck in so there's a few ways in eventually resolve that we can get a chroma key effect we can do it right there on the edit page using the 3D K but in order to achieve what we want to do in this video we're going to use the Delta Kia in the fusion page in the fusion page and I know especially if you're a beginner to denture resolve then the fusion page definitely isn't your happy place but trust me it's only a couple of steps and really easy to follow so here I've got my raw footage in my less than ideal scen screen setup so of course in some instances we could just crop this straight from the edit page to remove the bits we don't want but this isn't going to work if we've got things in the crop frame that we need to remove removed like a microphone sticking out so a better way to do this is to use the Delta KY in the fusion page and then mask out the bits that we don't want so we're going to come over here to fusion and I'm just going to arrange things here so I can see what I'm doing and here we can see we've got our media in and media out first we're going to do a basic key on this footage to remove the green screen so I'm going to click here on media in and then click shift space to bring up the tools menu and I'm going to search for Delta Kia and when we click add that should appear in between the media in and media out and they should be connected like this we're just going to do a very basic key here so I'm going to come over here to the inspector tab if you don't see this then just click here for the inspector make sure we got the key pane selected here and I'm just going to click on this dropper icon hold down the left mouse key and with that still held down I'm going to drag it across my image and I'm going to keep moving around until I find a spot that removes most of my key that seems pretty good and I'm just going to zoom in a bit now and just tidy this up a tiny bit where I've got this area here which isn't very well keyed if I come over to mat I can adjust the threshold of the key to remove this patch of green which isn't very well keyed that seems a reasonable key we're not going to go into too much detail on this bit so now I've got my key let's zoom out now the bits I want to remove now are here on the left and the right these are things that I want to mask out of my chroma key but in order to do that I'm going to come back down here and I'm going to click just on the background so I don't have anything selected and then hit shift space again and I just want to search for a polygon py add that so with my polygon I'm going to start down here and I'm just going to draw an outline of the whole area that contains me and anywhere that my hands or head might move to so I'm going to start here and we're going to just a really rough Trace around all this area is really well keyed so I'm happy with all that being in the key come down come down come down and then reconnect that with the starting point so now I've got a polygon that defines the area which I want to key but I want my mask to affect the stuff that I don't want to key so I'm going to go over here and click invert and this will mean this mask will apply to everything outside of the polygon so everything around here up here and on the left in order to apply this mask I'm going to come back down to our nodes area and I'm going to click on the out box here of the polygon with the right mouse key you want to hold the right mouse key down and keep it held down and just pull it down here over the Delta key right in the middle and when you release the mouse key you'll see a drop- down list here and here I want to select garbage mat we click that and there we go we've now masked out everything outside of that polygon I can come back here to my edit page now and then for my media pool I can just select a background that I want and drag it below my main video and I've now got my chroma key effect exactly how I want it so that's how easy it is to remove garbage from a green screen in D Vinci resolve so I hope you found today's quick tip video helpful if you did then please smash the like button and if you want to see more content like this then subscribe to the channel that's it from me
