Remington 870 Function Review

hello and welcome my name is Hobby John welcome to a basic function review of the Remington 870 12-gauge pump-action shotgun you can see the black hardware bent rig barrel bead sight right there and I might as well show you the other side here the nice rubber butt pad here and buttstock so this is a basic function review so for those of you that may be interested in the gun at some point you're going to show up at your local FFL and the individual behind the counter is going to safety check the gun and hand it to you and then you're going to want to safety check it as well and manipulate the pump to see how it feels so this is a quick summary of what we're going to be looking at when you're handling the gun obviously you want to keep your finger out of the trigger out of the trigger guard so don't touch the trigger don't even put it in there even if you're not touching the trigger and you're going to want to make sure the chamber is clear you do that by using the pump action here and when you grab it you're going to notice that it's locked it's locked because of this lever right here this is the pump-action lock lever okay so you push that down keeping your fingers out of the trigger guard and then the pump action is unlocked so you can manipulate it all you want which is great now you've seen the chamber you know it's empty there's nothing in the magazine the safety is right here it's a cross trigger safety readiness fire not my favorite safety however it does work and that's the basic function of the gun so let's show you how that works and let me show you how to load it I'm right now I'm going to be using some snap caps these are solid aluminum with a little plastic insert to absorb the firing pin strike so that's all they are there's dummy rounds you load the gun by pushing the rounds through the loading gate right here which doubles as an so you push it up and then it cross into the tubular magazine being sure that it clears the elevator here if it's hitting that then that's no good okay you can also load it I use my ring finger lined up with this and you just push it through the gate and then slam it home okay again make sure that it's clear so that's how you load the gun and obviously you're going to have to manipulate the pump-action lock lever right here to feed around onto the elevator it will elevate it into the chamber like that and then you're ready to fire so pointed it in a safe direction turn the safety off and when you're on target you can pull the trigger now watch the action lock lever when I pull the trigger you'll notice that it's depressed so the hammer automatically unlocks your pump action so you can eject your round I did it slowly there so you guys can see obviously when you rack it sharply that will and this is a heavy aluminum shell but when you do it with an empty casing it will go flying okay so you can see the next round is lined up out of the magazine onto the elevator ready to be fed into the chamber and again dexter knock levers down so it is locked in place Safety's off ready to fire pointed in a safe direction left hand this time again watch the action lock lever boom the gun goes off and you can eject your round turn your safety on and that is the basic function of the 870 thanks for watching my name is Hobby John
