[Music] what's up guys this is the honest outlaw here and today we're going to be doing another top 10 video we're gonna be talking about that 10 things that you don't know about the Remington 870 shotgun number one the Remington 870 shotgun debuted in 1950 and has been used by police and military ever since as well as hunters sportsmen and gun enthusiasts the Remington 870 is arguably the world's most widely owned and used shotgun with over nine million in civilian hands alone number two the Remington 870 is very popular in Hollywood as well and it is featured in over a hundred and eighty movies starting with in the heat of the night in 1967 and going all the way to Logan in 2017 this iconic shotgun has been used in quite a few movies like commando dead presidents Terminator 2 Dark Knight the town training day and one of my favorites the way of the gun number three there are hundreds of variations of the Remington 870 in 12 16 20 28 and 410 in 1969 Remington introduced the 28 gauge and 410 models on a new scaled down receiver size and in 1972 a 20 gauge lightweight version was introduced on the same sized receiver from the original 15 models offered Remington currently produces dozens of models for civilian law enforcement and military sales some of these include the express marine mark 1 mcs police super mag Wingmaster and TAC 14 number 4 not only is the 870 used by many military units around the world but it's also used by over 28 countries including Argentina Australia Belgium Canada Germany Greece Hongkong Ireland Israel Korea Luxembourg Malaysia the Philippines Poland Singapore Sweden Switzerland Taiwan Thailand the UK and the United States number five production 870s for over 30 years had a slight design flaw where the user could fail to press a shell all the way into the magazine when loading so that the shell latch did not engage the shell this was caused by the shell slipping out of the magazine under the bolt in the receiver to bind the action requiring rough treatment or even a total disassembly of the firearm this potential issue was resolved in with the introduction of the flexi tab carrier guns with this modification can be identified with the u-shaped cutout on the carrier visible below the gun the cutout combined with modified machining on the underside of the slide assembly allows the action to be opened with a shell on the carrier number six sales of the Remington 870 have been pretty good over the years they reached two million guns by 1973 ten times the number of the model 31 the shotgun that had replaced as of 1983 the 870 held the record for the best-selling shaggin in history with three million sold and as of 2009 they had sold over 10 million models of the Remington 870 number seven Chinese firearm manufacturer Norinco makes unlicensed copies of the Remington 870 as the design is no longer under patent protection the most common of these designs are the Norinco HP 9-1 and the M - 98 in the United States where Norinco products are specifically not in portable this shotgun was imported and sold under the name Marinko Hawk 982 and interstate hawk 982 number eight the 870 was not the first pump-action shotgun made by Remington Arms which has been around for over two hundred years and is the oldest firearms manufacturer in the United States they started making modern pump-action shotguns like the John Peterson designed model 10 and the browning Peterson model 17 these popular guns remained in production for over 20 years before being replaced in 90 31 by the model 31 the model 31 was a great gun with almost 200 thousand made by 1949 however all of these firearms were expensive to produce which led Remington to find a new design in the Remington 870 number nine the Remington company that makes the famous 870 is now owned by the freedom group the freedom group is an American firearms manufacturer holding company which has acquired notable brands such as Bushmaster DPMS Remington and Marlin number 10 accessories accessories accessories the Remington 870 is perhaps the most modular shotgun on the market today with stocks grips lights red dots extended tubes safeties extractors magazine followers side saddles and more you can change almost every part of the shotgun and make it anyway you want you can even customize length of pull and comb height for any size shooter with custom stocks that are available well that was 10 facts that you might not know about the Remington 870 if you like this video please like and subscribe to the channel please help out your local homeless shelters and remember to recycle check you later pull it back dump one of those in there put it in that put it in that cardboard over there wow that was a [Music]
