So today we're going to talk about how to sync your remarkable to to the cloud and external devices plus now that I've been using this thing for a few months I'm going to give you some general thoughts and tips on um how this device Stacks up in terms of utility I'm Eve and I make content for writers and aspiring authors who want to streamline and declutter their entire writing experience whether you are on route to publish your 15th book or you're just toing around with the remarkable to to see if it's a good fit for your writing routine your day-to-day I've got you so the remarkable tablet offers a range of features designed to enhance your writing and your whole note-taking experience some key features include a paper-like display that mimics the feel of writing on real paper the way that this sounds is so nice that scratchy sound um it has a high resolution screen for crisp text and images it's black and gray so images you're going to get high quality but it's not in color and it offers a long battery life for extended use without frequent charging now I've heard some YouTubers claim that they get like a full week or more out of this or I think one of them said he gets like a couple weeks that's not the case for me and it might just be because I use it a lot right but I do need to charge it I find like every few days I think but also um it offers Cloud integration that's what we're going to talk about mainly today for easy access to your documents across devices the remarkable or remarkable to tablets provide tools for organizing all of your notes annotating documents sketching things out and creating diagrams um weekly schedules also and to-do list they have templates for those so here I'm going to show you a built-in template for all the things that I want to achieve in a week it's sleek and lightweight design makes it portable and convenient for use on the go and for long-distance travel if you're a big traveler this is like a really nice nice thing to have because this team the remarkable team's really obsessed with Simplicity and minimalism and I really mean this I have spoken with multiple customer service reps both by chatbot and by email I reached out to their customer service team they seem so dialed in on this product they love how how it offers that Simplicity and I think that that sentiment is really carried through in their customer service experience as well as well as throughout their website their marketing like just their ux in general so the remarkable is a great choice for if you're looking for a digital note-taking solution writing device that feels like pen and paper like it's really just the notebook experience taking up a not syncing your remarkable tablet to the cloud is a great way to ensure that your really important notes and documents are safely backed up and easily accessible this is a huge one for writers especially if you're working on a manuscript like a really big document and you need to back things up whether it's in a word doc or if you're working um with a tool like scrier or novel pad remarkable has their own storage service um which you can pay a subscription for so if you're if you like writing on a notebook with pen and paper but you need a place to back that up and you need to constantly be bringing that in to your other device most likely it's a laptop or a desktop maybe you use a tool to keep all your your writing in one place but whatever you're using like you need to get it off the tablet or off a notebook but with regular pen and paper it's not very easy to do that the remarkable makes it so that you can streamline that process and they have their own storage service which you can pay a subscription for um if if you want if that's a good choice for you it's something you have to decide not me but to sync your remarkable tablet you can follow these simple steps first make sure that your remarkable tablet is connected to the internet through Wi-Fi or mobile data that might sound really straightforward but trust me I've done this before when it wasn't really connected and maybe it was connected to like another service or it picked up on a different Wi-Fi I hadn't you know entered my password signed in make sure that that kind of stuff is is taken care of it's the most frequent I think or one of the most frequent ways that people have issues with syncing and just because they didn't don't realize that they're they're not connected to their Wi-Fi it happens all the time so that's the first step if you're troubleshooting if you go for help on this like if you go to their chat bot most likely that's the first thing that they're going to tell you or they're going to ask you have you done this number two open the settings menu up on your remarkable tablet and navigate to the storage or cloud services section third select the cloud storage service that you want to sync with like it could be Dropbox or Google drive or it could just be remarkables cloud service that's the one that eventually you have to pay for after your year free trial expires right so it's nice to have you have to pay for it after a little while but you can also use things you're more familiar with maybe like Google drive or something like that number four follow the onscreen instructions to link your remarkable tablet to your chosen cloud storage service and number five once you're linked and all set up with that you can choose which notes and documents you want to sync to the cloud you may have the option to sync all of your content automatically or select specific files to upload I've noticed that with my remarkable two and this might be just something that was an update with the newer version of their product most of my documents everything I'm writing it syncs automatically I don't have to constantly back up it syncs it to their cloud service automatically now I'm not saying that it syns automatically to Google Drive or to Dropbox or to one drive right so just keep in mind like this backs up on their Cloud but if that's not something that you're associated with you're not going to be um using then you do want to probably make sure you're backing this up and backing it up to the right place the next next step is your remarkable tablet is going to be regularly syncing those selected files to the cloud making sure that you are all backed up right all your info is backed up but keep in mind that you can access via this remarkable storage solution that I just told you about or you can transfer to other options like Google Google Drive one drive um Dropbox is an option as well and remember that the remarkable cloud service is offered to customers at the beginning and then they charge you money for it later so just keep that in mind if it's something you want or not it's up to you that's your decision I can't give you advice on this but I can tell you like for me I think that this was the first year of use was is free and I'm enjoying that I'm loving it but I don't know what I'm going to do when that offers up because I don't know if it's worth paying for since I've been using email to to back up a lot of my files I just love quickly emailing it to myself if it's like a two-page document or something like that um if I've converted my handwriting into text it's like a page or two pages of writing and I just want to access it quickly I love sending it to myself via email and then dropping it right in my Google Drive there's nothing wrong with that and that option is free so you know I'm just kind of trying to give you a lay of the land here for more information on all that you can check out their website or speak with their customer service team like I said the reps are very helpful you can also like I said send those documents to yourself by email directly from the tablet so if you finish creating a document you can click the send button which is on the lower left corner and opt for the email choice to send it to your destination this is going to prompt you to add an email address or several and select which page or Pages if there are several from The Notebook you're working on that you would like to send and remember you can send yourself those handwritten documents like if you just uh either sketch something out or written something by hand send as is or before doing that email option you can convert that handwriting to text and then send it that way or it it comes in a big file like with both both those options if you want to convert that script into text it's really easy to do just select the convert to text button on the lower left corner again after selecting the area of text that you want to convert and you can wait for it to sort of work its magic it takes a minute be patient there you go that's it if it's a blank page template and I go over this in one of my videos you'll be able to copy and paste that text from your PDF file somewhere else on your computer or your device if you so desire and I found that to be really easy with one caveat if you are using grid paper or lined paper it can turn into a huge mess if you're just uploading that as a PDF and trying to copy and paste from the PDF just keep that in mind you if you want to be doing that copy and paste work I would suggest drafting those types of items on a blank page on their blank templates and just a little note for you when you opt for a different color pen or highlighter other than black like other than that default yes they do offer choices like red ink black ink and tons of highlighter colors like pink and green all sorts of things right these colors don't show up on your black and gray tablet this is not in color it doesn't have color pixels but they can show up on many other devices like on your desktop on a PDF so that's excellent for editing right for writers if you want to highlight certain scenes in your book if you want to scribble notes in the margin which I do all the time I do that in red pen you can then send your document back and forth make those kinds of notes and that color text will show up when it's in a PDF format it's on your computer it's in the cloud write that sort of thing and speaking of sending your writing back and forth here's another tip for writers on the remarkable just like with all writing you want to make sure that you're documenting and organizing your file so that you have an easy time finding and accessing them this sounds simple but let me tell you it can really screw you over if you're not doing it and you forget and you are writing a really big Masterwork like this is your magnum opus right if you get more than a few chapters in um you want to make sure that everything's organized at least with dates so you can keep tabs on stuff so my favorite trick for this is um I color code files on my desktop and in the Google Drive try to make sure they're the same ones um just so it seems cohesive for me that can be by project or by which book it is which project it is or it could be by chapter as well like maybe it's act one act two act three or each specific chapter if there aren't too many and then I label every document that I send to myself with the same versioning so de the device doesn't have color in itself but when I go to save those files I just try to make sure that I'm organizing them grouping them according to color and labeling them so let's say that this book has the word flower in the title maybe all these documents say flower but then it's followed by the chapter number and then a key word for that particular scene and then you want to maybe label it something like version one version two depending on if you have multiple iterations of that scene and then or instead of that the date so everyone has different um versioning control but for me this is what works and I think that this strategy is what can really help when you try to dig things up later in editing stages or send things over to an editor and share with them when you want to view virging side by side or when you're ready to upload all of them into a story story building software like scrier or novel pad and I have uh more videos on those types of tools um those types of software so we'll end that for now but just Version Control can be really helpful so overall I'm Still Loving the remarkable and I'm using it every day I'm not exaggerating I use it every day so I freewrite every probably few days on here but I make lists and check up on those to-do lists every every day as well so I'm really using it for a lot and I'd say like I've actually have not used my used notebooks like just my paper notebooks at all except for my planner since getting this so I'd say um I upload docs or download them to the tablet probably every week or every other week um so it's also been super useful in there and writing my book like this has comeing in handy putting my newsletter together those things so speaking of newsletters you'll want to check out what I'm cooking up for you and that's in the description um in the description box for you so there you have it how to sync documents from your remarkable to tablet and keep your writing organized while having peace of mind that your writing is secure and accessible this tool is one of the best I've come across for outlining and organizing my book multiple books now that I'm working on and for me it's been really worth it really valuable um but again it's a decision that only you can make if it's right for you I've talked to lots of people so far in the comments of my videos um coders to designers people that are a bit more artsy a bit a bit better than me at at doodling and creating artwork and sometimes for those people like I've heard this this device just does not doesn't cut it and I totally get that and that's why I want to caveat this R the remarkable is is wonderful for me and my writing needs my daily writing needs which are pretty simple but they require a tool like this to get streamlines to feel organized if you align with that do your own research and maybe something like this could be right for you but again it's something you want to learn about so I recommend like checking out my videos check out all my videos see if this is something that uh feels like it aligns with your Writing Practice stay tuned for more videos thing I'm e and I'll see you next time
