[Music] [Music] what's up life right nation what's going on life bright nation is not going in so so so she's swedish she speaks fluent swedish which is say one more time i get lithium guys okay so easter jeep safari is in full freaking swing and it's gonna be rad especially because yeah so what we're actually gonna do is we're gonna take bilstein's ram trx we're gonna take it out to the dunes but not only that we're gonna drag race it against our ultra four car and against our hemi jeep so we're gonna get a full lineup of the fastest vehicles and see which one wins and i honest to god think that the trx is gonna absolutely obliterate not just the stepchild but also our ultra four car which is gonna be insane we'll see but first before we even get into that though my new buggy ak side chick needs a little bit of love now remember we just installed these 16 inch bilstein v8 8125 coilovers on sidechick but they're valved for a vehicle that's kind of a lot heavier especially in the rear because there's zero weight in the rear of that buggy so to help us re-valve it and to help us learn a little bit today this is nick holt and he is actually a vehicle dynamics engineer with bilstein that's here at easter jeep safari and he's gonna help us get a little bit more scientific than we've ever really gotten with shock tuning essentially so what what we'll try at least uh this is a shock dino short for dynamometer which ironically enough i never knew that dino was short for dynamometer don't judge me you do i do now so the shock dyno strokes the damper and ultimately this load cell records information as it's going up and down uh we stroke at multiple different speeds right now we're getting a baseline for where these dampers are so right now this is exactly what we just installed so this is going to give us a graph and numbers and all the fancy scientific stuff to let us know where we're currently at so that he can valve it to where we want it to be and then we'll do this again so you guys can physically see on a chart what the difference is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so what we can see here on this chart this is our rebound section we measure in newtons and our compression side here this is low speed damping the velocities are on the bottom the total force is on the y-axis and um yeah these match up pretty decent and we're going to take these things apart make some changes internally [Applause] okay so nick revolved them and what exactly did you do given the forces that we had in the damper and the way the vehicle was uh riding we decided to just take some some both compression and a bunch of rebound out after testing these dampers we saw how much rebound force we had before you can see i mean our peak at a meter a second rebound force was up over 4 500 newtons thinning the discs and we actually removed one of the rebound discs and changing what we call a support washer inside makes a big difference so you can see here so this is essentially your rebound correct so we took out quite a bit of rebound more than half yeah more than half of the rebound force and then about three to 400 newtons of compression force of compression which is down here so you can see here is the before here it is now and this should make it a lot smoother so it's not bouncing me and popping the rear end up because again this is just the rear shocks that we're doing right now and that should oh god this should make a world of a difference and if it doesn't we take them apart and do this all over again that's half the fun right unfortunately but not really unfortunately before we actually get around to testing these on the buggy we do have to put them back on but we have like we said just a little bit ago something else much more important that we gotta do [Music] [Applause] and i'm gonna change [Music] i know [Music] living the moment till i die [Music] [Music] now although shock tuning is super interesting obviously the main reason that we're all watching this video right now is to see a drag race of epic freaking proportions our jeep wrangler with a 6.4 liter srt hemi which is pushing about 500 horsepower this monster of a trx is pushing over 700 horsepower and of course our off-road race car the ultra four car which is making about 600 horsepower obviously we kind of know what's gonna happen but it's still gonna be super wild to see it so we didn't have a road to do this on and we couldn't find an open enough spot that was smooth to do this on so we're trying to make this as interesting and fair as possible so if you look i'm taking the bumpiest road with the ultra4 uh it's gonna get the suspension moving we'll not be putting the the power down the whole time it should be pretty interesting to see it like we'll be bouncing around here trying to go we put the trx on the smooth as possible he's on a rock pad that he's gonna launch on a solid rock pad and then it's gonna go right into dirt and so that may slow him down if it starts spinning tire we don't know and then the jeep is just the jeep it's somewhere in between it's got some rocks you know the jeep's not gonna be anywhere the jeep's the heaviest and the least amount of power but yeah seven thousand pounds and definitely the least amount of power lightest vehicle and not too far off so i actually think this might be more interesting than we're expecting it to be between the trx and the ultra four car yeah to me it's just gonna depend if the trx is gonna pull power once it hits sand and it detects wheel spin yeah if it starts to pull back that 700 horse i don't have any nannies in this i'll just put my foot to the floor and we'll see what happens but i have the bumpiest ride if you look down there i've got to go through a crap ton of rocks all around yes so it'll be fun either way it doesn't matter what happens honestly but it's gonna be interesting but if we can get this onto a road and race these two on a highway if those cops weren't there there's cops at the entrance there so that's definitely not happening i think we can all agree on at least one thing all of these vehicles sound super good which doubles my my doubt my torque output yeah so if i go to high range you would just obliterate this thing took off like a slingshot i don't know i don't know how far you might have been a foot ahead of me right at the end before we let off but yeah it was close within a car's length i was a car's length behind somehow like that was incredible we're way ahead so fast yeah best two out of three we can go again [Music] [Music] i liked it when i started i mean come on this is a straight up so if you think about it it's got 150 less horsepower but i'm 3 000 pounds lighter yeah it's significantly lighter now i am on 40s and b locks but it's a it's a race car now if we take this to the street i think i'd top-end you for sure oh it's also because it's so short well right okay so you want to make it fair fair i'll go into high and then we'll do it it'll be half the power i mean i'm all right with that all right let's do it [Applause] [Music] geez that thing has a lot of power [Music] i stayed with him a little bit that time i turned all the nannies off i did not do that on the first two races so on that one i turned all of the stuff off oh that looks so wild that truck is awesome why are liar pants on fire what you were several car lengths ahead of him that time i'm wondering if that's also getting heat soaked i think it might a little bit it is a little warm because you're not you're not it's yeah it's 80 degrees but you're not driving it pulling it off and you're just going hot hit after hit i need to put some race gas in it maybe maybe that'll do it maybe that'll do it keep it pretty freaking awesome but not quite as awesome is the ultra poor car let's see i mean if we put him on the street i bet i'd get the trx to about 60 or 70. actually just on the street alone i bet you the trx would be right there when it could get a little more traction but it was still dude that was that was close for sure i hope you guys enjoyed watching that though as much as we enjoyed actually
