we're on a job site where there is a raccoon and babies living in a pool house and we're unsure if the attic space is going to give us access to where the babies are you'll see why in a second it is a flat roof it's a sloped wall that we saw the mother is in and we could hear her so first step is going up in the attic to see if we can get over to them we're not sure that is going to be possible but we're going to at least try before we have to cut a hole in this nice pool house so this is the structure here as you can see the sides are sloped and the mother is in the far corner up there so we'll just come in and the other catch is in the bathroom here we'll set this up and we'll go up in the attic and see if we can see them [Music] [Applause] [Music] i just wanted to show you where their actions are so when we go up in the attic we'll probably be above this and the raccoons are actually here on this lower ceiling part right against the wall so probably not going to be possible for me to get down into that space but you never know the structure could be different than what we think so we're going to head up yep okay we're just going to head up into the attic it has been painted oh it's so pretty it's like caulked it's like it's sealed because of the paint i think [Music] yeah okay sometimes when people paint an area they just paint over it and it's just was really sealed to the attic oh wow i'm in a little box here show what you see it's it's very tight so when you come up i'm in this little boxed area heading over there is where i would have to go it's possible to get over there i just don't i think they've spray foamed the sides completely where you don't have access to that area but i'll at least investigate it okay we've investigated unfortunately we can't get to them from the attic it's far too tight and it's all spray foam insulation we know that they're here i can hear them chittering we're going to cut in it could be spray foam down here we won't know until we start to cut but i'm going to cut beside them knowing that they're here so so we're gonna basically cut in here i can really hear them chirping now yeah i'm into spray foam here i can feel it or beam i try over a bit further oh there we go must be a beam so ah [Music] completely [Music] there's one i think there's only one i think there's only one and see where she's hold this all out i only see the one maybe no more highly unusual to have only one baby but we've seen it before didn't hand me that little guy he's certainly very plump which would indicate that he's getting all the food and the fact that he's so quiet he doesn't really have siblings to bother him but yeah i'll continue to look around up there just to be 100 sure but it's looking like he's the only one i'll take the camera to put it into that space for you get up here you can see how she's hollowed this spot right out and from there she goes that way and then you can go up over the beams there and then we'll look this way you can see all the blown in insulation and she just lays in the nest you're clawing away at the styrofoam it's probably fun for because we see it in attics on the attic they just literally claw at it and they have highly sensitive front paws so it probably feels pretty cool that's where she was light one out okay so we're gonna take the baby outside see if we can get some interest from the mother and we'll you can see his eye is just starting to slit open you can see a small tiny hole so he's almost 21 days very okay let's see if the mom shows any interest in coming let's forget him want to show her first yeah we could rather than lose him and then say we had a baby that was true that's the little guy there's only one baby yeah yeah it's uncommon for them to only have one but it's we do see it sometimes they have three four but yeah and his eyes are closed because they don't open until 21 days yeah so you can like he's you can tell he's an only child because he's very full and like bigger healthy yeah because um well right now they're just feeding off the mom yeah and then the mom will eventually take them out to forage start foraging with her and teach them but yeah until they're mobile yeah for sure i just wanted to show you good and that made it easier yeah yeah so we're going to make get him to cry at the back and she might come out to get him that's a good chance she'll do that and once i put him around he'll start crying okay so take the baby around back to where the entry hole was i don't think we've shown the entry hole yet so this is where she was getting in she stood on the downspout pushed up the soffit this is very common for a raccoon to do that okay stay still she saw me that's why get back so as you saw the mother did come down the wall i was standing on the other side of the wall right there just to be able to block her from going back in when she had the baby and as i looked to the right she was right on those pipes so i scared her she went back up and then she did continue to stick her face out a bit but she's just too scared to come out so we'll put him in a baby box and put a one-way door on for her to come out later today okay so we are going to be using the clear box again and we had a few questions on our last video with the clear box about it being too hot for them when it's hot in the summer and the sun hitting it so we already had thought of that we aren't going to be using it in the summer or in direct sun sunlight the only times we have used it so far have been either very cold days or that other time with the playhouse where it was on a sheltered area so we are aware of that and then the last time it did fog up a lot they were bigger babies and their hot breath was fogging up the outside so we have got anti-fog to put on here now to solve that problem too so here's the one baby no siblings we'll place them in here he'll still be cozy waiting for mom and she'll come out later tonight it'll probably take her a while to not be afraid to come out just because she did see me on the outside but she'll still make her way out eventually probably later tonight and be able to gather her baby okay so we're going to place the baby box in this corner because she does climb down this wall so she'll come stumble across the box as soon as she comes down she was close to coming out but didn't fully come out she got spooked so let's place her baby here and the mom will be able to climb down she'll be on top of the box once she climbs down and she'll quickly figure out that her baby's in there and we'll leave that door open just because it's not really needed to keep it closed when he's not moving too much keep it about there and the mom will be able to go in grab her baby and take it to an alternate dance site okay it's the next day and we'll walk over to the pool house to see if the baby's gone and we did leave them on the or him on the back of the building for the mom there's a box and the baby's gone so she came took her one baby came out our one-way door because she was still inside at that time and relocated him so we'll show you the footage of her coming back on our trail cam and job complete you you
