[Music] can God change your life in just 30 minutes I believe you're watching right now because God has something special for you I'm Jonathan bernis and I'm a Jewish rabbi who follows Jesus join me for Jewish voice and you'll discover how Bible prophecy is coming to pass before our very eyes and why you need to stand with Israel you can play a role in God's endtime Plant find out how I'm Jewish voice Shalom and welcome to a very special program today my co-host ezra watt Nick and I are here in Jerusalem Ezra this is this is not a set right this is the real deal this is the real deal this is the Old City of Jerusalem and not just the Old City of Jerusalem behind us this is the Temple Mount yeah directly behind me look you can see the gold dome that's the Dome of the rock it's directly over the Holy of Holies and that will come down when you shoe is here there'll be it the rebuilt temple here but the reason that this is so significant right and the reason we're in Jerusalem today okay is because we are observing the holiest day of the calendar the Hebrew calendar the Jewish calendar this week we are observing Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement and I think it's so significant that we are sitting in front of the very place that the high priest right would go into once a year and make atonement for the sins of Israel try to imagine this that 2,000 years ago Yeshua was up on that Temple Mount was out in the temple right ministering right amazing just almost 2,000 years ago that's where the disciples were as the Holy Spirit was poured out in 3,000 were saved that was the beginning of the church amazing it's right behind us right there just a couple hundred yards away from where we're sitting right I'm getting goose bumps yeah I really yeah this is incredible what an experience right what a special day to be here Jonathan and Ezra I it's also so prophetic because I believe that this city back in the hands of the Jewish people is the single greatest sign of God's faithfulness Yeshua Jesus said Jerusalem would be trodden down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled in about and just over fifty one years ago right that Temple Mount came back into the control of the Jewish people and it signaled the big the the return the near return of the Messiah to this earth he was saying when Jerusalem was no longer trodden down by the Gentiles he wept over the city right and he said you won't see me again until well that day is near amen Wow amen what a generation to be alive Jonathan and what a threat replace to be incredible so Yom Kippur this is you know we've heard the word in Hebrew maybe some of us have heard this mo ed which in Hebrew means appointed time what does that mean what are the appointed times of the Lord what does that have to do for Jewish people what does that have to do with our audience working today well God has a calendar as a matter of fact my friend mark mark Biltz says God has a day timer interesting an appointment book and it's not the Gregorian calendar it's not the American calendar okay it's the biblical calendar from Levitical vidiq is 23 and it's a series of memorials of set times appointed time okay is the language that the New Covenant uses the New Testament uses where we observe a historical moment in history or of an agricultural harvest okay but here's what's so important in unique Ezra that they're not just the celebration itself of that event okay but they prophetically point to the atoning work of Messiah both his first coming and his return Wow and Yom Kippur is directly connected to his return amazing so not just talking about something in the past or something a high priest is to do each year it's speaking of something too come exactly and it's yet to be fulfilled Yom Kippur was fulfilled every year when the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies right behind us once a year and it was only the high priest right and he had to prepare himself sure there was a veil the Bible tells us that he had to pass through a curtain and he could only go he's the only one that could go if anyone else went in they'd be killed in such a holy place no one except that one man once a year could even set and the high priest was afraid sure her they tied a rope around his ankle it's in the the Talmud the rabbinic commentary so that if he died they they would pull now because no one was going in after if they heard the bells on that rope stop stop making noise that was it a yanked him out that was yeah Wow such a holy place yeah and many people asked me what did Jews do today sure to observe Yom Kippur well what do we do Jonathon I mean how there we can see behind us there's no temple and as far as we know there's no high priest serving in any temple in the earth especially not here rusa l'm so so what now what what do we do well when the temple was destroyed the rabbi's made a determination they they their job was to see Judaism survives it should perpetuate so no temple no snow priesthood no sacrificial system so they determined that three things were necessary okay on yom kippur repentance right and we go into synagogue i grew up going to synagogue and praying prayers of repentance our father our King forgive us write these different things and forgive each other the second thing was good deeds we do good deeds and you know the scale mentality if our good deeds outweigh our bad we're okay right we've heard the word mitzvah a good deed yeah good deed and so you have repentance you have good deeds and you have prayer okay prayer to feel a prayer so if if we do those three things then we're fine the problem is Ezra that there's no temple right where there's always blood is required look at Leviticus 17:11 the life of the flesh is in the blood right and I have given it for you to make atonement for your right the blood was required so Jewish people don't have a blood sacrifice to today no temple in the sacrificial system no atonement there had to be the shedding of blood for remission of sins now here's where Yeshua comes in okay why did you need an atoning Messiah to come and die why did Jesus have to shed his blood for us why couldn't God just say you're forgiven sure and it's we could got because God established laws that he follows right he he obeys the laws that he established he works within those laws and so Jesus came as a final atonement as our high priest making intercession for us by bringing his own blood into the Holy of Holies Wow this Holy of Holies but the one in heaven and when he died on the cross that meant that that wall of separation between the outer court the holy place and the most holy place was ripped into what does that mean it means we now have access into the Holy of Holies because his blood the final atonement cleanses us from sin and now we can go boldly Ezra right into the throne room of grace you have that gift from God to go into the throne room of grace the Holy of Holies that only the high priest could enter and now through Yeshua the high priest you can go into that place Jonathan I just want to make sure I understand you're saying that that place that only one man on earth could go once a year when Yeshua died was actually opened two men and were exhorted to come in yes not only was it opened tamanna was first opened to Jewish the Jewish believers that received him and became new creations but then beginning in acts 10 it opened to all the nations of the earth and anyone who has made Jesus Lord has called upon the name of the Lord and been saved has direct access into the Holy of Holies so if you are born from above you have access into the Holy of Holies do we have a great high priest in Yeshua yea significa talked for hours about the significance of that Jonathan yeah let me make just one point about it because there's a difference between the Mosaic Covenant or what most Christians call the Old Covenant or Testament and the new when it comes to Atonement and Yom Kippur and that is that under the Old Covenant blood was provided through sacrifice of bulls of goats of lambs and that covered sin so that on an unholy people could go into the tambien as well and God the presence of God in the New Covenant Jeremiah 31 verses 31 through 33 I will wash away your sins and remember them no more wow that's different it's not covering of sin it's the removal of all sin you are forgiven you are washed clean in the blood of Messiah a new creation man the old has passed away and all things have become new that's the own Kippur we get to observe that's it that's it it's amazing what a privilege what a blessing we have is indeed in Yeshua this is a very special week Yom Kippur I want to encourage you to send in your Yom Kippur program the day of atonement Jonathan bernis here with my co-host as Robotnik here in the beautiful city of Jerusalem Ezra I love this city what a special day to be here Jonathan and what a special place on earth to be all the stones in the city cry out God is faithful yeah God is faithful jesus said that this city would be trampled down by the nation's by the Gentiles until a set time in history the time of the Gentiles being fulfilled and that happened 51 years ago Ezra thought his faith right the six-day war 1967 Jerusalem was restored into Jewish hands and we live in that time when the when the city has been restored and we know Yeshua says when you see these things my coming is right at the door what an amazing time to be alive I don't know where he was he was crying from but he was weeping Yeshua Jesus was weeping over the city crying out for the salvation of his people I mean and declaring you won't see me again until you speaking of the Jewish people from this place cry out baruch haba b'shem adonai 'blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord and as we're we're getting ready for that day amen not just something dread of a real city and a real point in the future when he's gonna walk down a real Mount of Olives into a real city it's rousillon this is the place you can feel it you can feel the stones crying out yeah come Lord Jesus and as for what an important week right Yom Kippur that Dave Atonement the holiest day of the Jewish people Jewish calendar God's prophetic calendar because this is this day is yet to be fulfilled and will be fulfilled soon right now Jonathan Yom Kippur in Hebrew means that the day of covering right like a kippah that our people wear on our heads is a covering for our heads what are we pouring what are we covering so as we're this is such an important question and and it all ties back to Leviticus 17 okay where the Lord Himself declares that blood is required for the atonement of sins that's the life of the flesh is in the blood right and I've given you blood as an atonement that is why there was a sacrificial system beginning with the Tabernacle in the wilderness when they left Egypt sure they built a tabernacle so that God could dwell among his people and forgot to dwell as long as his people there had to be atonement right so there was a sacrificial system established in the Mosaic Covenant right but that was a foreshadow of the Messiah who had to come and lay down his life and shed his blood for us and we're told in Hebrews that Yeshua Jesus is our high priest not after the order of the Levites right which was the priestly tribe sure of Israel but after the order of Melchizedek or Malik Malik Siddiq the king of righteousness who has no beginning is the high priest above the Levitical order that now gives his blood is the final atonement for sin and that's that atonement lasts forever and it not only covers sin it washes us free from so the Levitical priesthood among the Levites in our people the tribe of Levi was just pointing to one and we know it's Yeshua who actually had an everlasting priesthood that's exactly right Jesus is the final high priest that went into the Holy of Holies not this one but the Holy of Holies in heaven that's why he couldn't be touched he had yet to present his blood sacrifice Wow on the altar in the Holy of Holies and the holy holy foe of Holies here Ezra that was only accessible to the high priest and only once a year we read Hebrews 9 10 11 that that barrier that curtain was ripped into what does that symbolize it symbolizes uh that we have now have direct access into the Holy of Holies awesome so what was happening here on the Temple Mount and went there will be a temple restored in a day yet to come that's just a shadow actually this is a copy a picture of something that's eternal in heaven exactly and we'll be reestablished with sat with a sacrificial system not to atone for sin because your shoe has done that Jesus has done that but sort of like a museum that points back to God's redemption throughout history Wow and that will be re-enacted repeatedly through the Millennial Kingdom amazing so we understand Jonathan I think a little bit more now what Yom Kippur was and then what it is for us as believers today what's the significance of Yom Kippur in the future what does it mean for Israel what does it mean for the name right so in 1948 okay Bible prophecy was fulfilled directly with the restoration of the State of Israel we just we were here for the 70th anniversary to celebrate right not only 70 years of survival but prosperity in the land because God said I'll scatter you but I'll bring you back yeah folks this is the greatest single sign that we're in the last days God restoring yes the Jewish people back to their land restoring Jerusalem that's when the prophetic clock began right but now there's a dual restoration that God is promised I will also bring you back to myself and there's one name given under heaven by which we must be saved Ezra and that's Jesus whether you call him Jesus Yeshua EA Zeus he's the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved and he has promised to bring the Jewish people back into this new covenant relationship through the Messiah and Zechariah 12:10 is the fulfillment of Yom Kippur let's put it up on the screen and they will look upon him whom they have pierced to look upon me whom they've pairs right and they'll mourn for me right they'll mourn for him as one mourns for their only son this is the day that Israel as a nation recognizes right that the one that they cast off the one that they hid their face from according to Isaiah 53 that they despised and was rejected right is in fact their promised Messiah and they repent that's Yom Kippur Wow the day of atonement as they recognize he's their atonement they repent and it says in that day Zechariah 13:1 will be a fountain opened in Jerusalem and supplication grace and supplication and there'll be a fountain open for sin to Cup to atone for sin but it requires our people most of whom worldwide feel that we have no high priest they don't believe Yeshua as the high priest actually having their eyes open to behold that the one who was pierced is in fact the high priest exactly and that blind Paul tells us there's the blindness Romans 11:25 that's covered the eyes of the Jewish people except for remnant we're that remnant Jewish believers are that remnant but that the day will come when Israel shall be saved and the key to their salvation is the proclamation of those that know him the Gentiles the nations I'm talking about you that Jewish person in your life is not there by accident God has called you to reached out to that neighbor that co-worker that friend that distant family member you have the words of life and they're waiting to hear amen and so Jonathan we understand how significant today Yom Kippur is and of course we understand through the eyes of faith Yeshua Jesus is that High Priest so so our audience may be asking what now how do we get from here where most Jewish people worldwide reject Yeshua as the Messiah as the high priest to that day when all of our people will behold him and he'll return to Jerusalem and of the stories already written so it will happen and I want to say also that the Prophet Zechariah also wrote the same one who said the Jewish people will recognize right to Messiah but also says the nations will come to worship when he establishes his kingdom Wow come to Jerusalem Wow so the significance for every Christian is that the price has been paid already and some of you may be feeling guilt and condemnation you may have felt like you committed an unpardonable unforgivable sin you let God down I know that he knows that too and he says I am the finisher of your faith not just the author of your faith Jesus your high priest gave his blood for your forgiveness no matter how big or small that sin is so that when you confess your sin he cleanses you from all unrighteousness and that is something you need to grasp and receive by faith as where we are forgiven amen he says you forgive seventy times seven 490 times in a day how much greater is God's capacity to forgive amazing so that great High Priest the sacrifice Yeshua made in heaven once and for all after he died here on earth that's not just for all Israel and for all of us but that's actually for each of us personally past present future amazing you were saved from the penalty of sin but you're also being saved from the power of sin in your life and I want to take a moment to pray here in Jerusalem yeah let's do it this is a local phone call to God by the way the Temple Mount behind us this is still God's city and I want to pray as when I want to pray for you right now there's no condemnation yeah to those who walk with God oh man listen God is more than able to meet every need no matter how small or great that family member that that child or grandchild who straight from God they're coming back right now in the name of Yeshua in Jesus name from Jerusalem yeah we speak freedom to you we speak Liberty we speak forgiveness to you and we speak restoration yes God is faithful Lord thank you for meeting every need thank you that you are faithful yes to everyone that's watching right now receive His faithfulness in Jesus name in Jesus name Amen wow I feel the peace of God the president the city of peace on this this most solemn of days the Day of Atonement we have such joy arising within us as we recognize that I was paid our sins are forgiven it's a compost hey why don't you sow a special offering this week Yom Kippur offering a day of atonement offering because our ministry is dedicated to bringing the good news to
