we all have a favorite movie favorite scenes and even favorite actors but how hard is it to be one find out now on the show that tackles the most unique gigs you won't find in your job search jobs ELISA acting is probably the most sought after career in the entertainment industry it's an art form that when done correctly looks mad easy but is very difficult now a bunch of people just see the big movie stars on billboards and Hollywood and Broadway but have no idea what it takes to get there including myself so let's find out and see if I have what it takes to make it in this industry as with every other job I need a mentor to guide me through the process so first up is my acting coach Terry he had me bring a script with a few lines so we'd have something to practice and get me ready for my audition with Quincy Brown are you ready I'm ready okay bring it now that's how you supposed to shoot Bank I've never seen shooting like that before tell me yeah I want my next partner to shoot like that yeah for real thanks a lot yo it takes a dysfunctional [ __ ] to put somebody in the head like you just there you're excited let me hear it what let me hear a whoop right Oh what yeah like Wow or something like that you know right something like that yeah 1,000% 1,000% do it come on you get embarrassed yeah okay you know what I want to do I want to take the script away was that the best shooter you ever saw in your life best was that the best shooter you ever saw in your life that is that the best shooter you ever saw in your life yes I ride [ __ ] oh go well see you get embarrassed yo that's some crazy shoot man I've never seen some my shoe like that amazing but that's a really dysfunctional [ __ ] you gotta be kind of messed up in the head to shoot somebody right that's me but honestly oh the barbeque situation like we got to get that handle you got to stop being stingy with all do that now that was the best you did was it was a hundred percent don't you think yeah forget that script alright right I know it's only been a little while but what do you think of my acting skills what do you think of just me do you think I have potential do you think I'm gonna be terrible well I like your charm there's something likeable about you and that's good it seems to me you get a little bit self-conscious what I'm calling embarrassed okay so you have to just be willing to make a mess and go for it but you're very willing like you don't have attitude it's a long journey all right so next stop on this journey I've got to go to a movement class go to a movement class and you'll play around and you'll have fun alright I urge you to play so off to step one it's time for some movement how you doing today I don't know what's about to have you don't you know feeling not great is it's kind of a part of the point right that nervousness that confusion you need to lean into it okay all right so put your feet on the floor take a breath everybody [Music] so the first thing we're doing here is staring at everyone in the face without saying anything let me tell you this is one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever done in my life you're looking at them they're looking at you thank god that's staring things out the way now I'm coasting I'm fitting right in okay hold all right all right that's pretty good got a lot of work to do I think you said was pretty good uh I said that generally all right well I guess I wasn't doing as well as I thought and this all looks crazy but there is a method to the madness it's important that actors are able to fit in with complete strangers and be comfortable with kissing or killing someone they may have just met and fold forward to those feet make some sound speedy or I'm gonna come back over there and push you down good [Music] a big purpose of this class was becoming more comfortable and I definitely succeeded at that because in the beginning I couldn't look at anybody and at this point I'm able to stare at my partner in the face for five minutes all in all productive day excited to continue on this journey alright starting to feel a little bit better about the progress I'm making which hopefully means I'll be ready for my audition now it's off to meet with a speech coach I've got my body right now it's time to get my voice to match there's lots of tricks there's lots of techniques but the real dials that you're working with are volume and pitch right right good your voice right there the pitch what's the highest note you can make no no that's great okay there's your ten and now what's the lowest note you can make the lowest uh how do i how do I get lower take a deep breath in put your hand on your lower belly and say haha I'm sorry this is so funny tea trust the process trust the process okay what's the loudest you can be you want me to demonstrate yeah just say hey hey that's my car hey that's my car don't touch it hey hey hey yeah okay all right we'll let that go okay it's about to get sillier so sillier than that yeah nice relaxed actors really be doing this absolutely [Music] haha uh-huh was that good yeah one more breath thing we're gonna help you with volume bend your knees a little bit think of that hand on your belly back up there you go you've definitely expanded your range you've got more breath hmm admire you hmm and all of that gives you more options definitely just continue to practice and then you're going to the audition room and you can do what you can do alone in front of an audience at this point I know how to control my body know how to control my voice and now it's time to use the skills I've learned to work with a partner and exercise the ability to think on the fly in improv speeding what's up man hey how are you nice I'm doing good I'm doing good welcome James what's up speedy nice James nice PJ's pleasure now we're just gonna give you a couple skills that are gonna help with your acting thanks for helping out with the cleanup you know yeah no problem you know I hate washing dishes but god it's got to get done hey talk to me Chris HR told me that they're gonna have to let me go what so [ __ ] you're passing one of those Wow I'm only one month pregnant so hey you have any extra detergent and I'll tell you one thing what I never get married I'm [ __ ] belly you only have one life to live and one child all right so we're gonna get you comfortable and being dramatic in your body okay we're gonna put you in a scene and the only words you can say are okay or wait and let's say you are packing up the house of like a relative who passed away okay [Music] wait-wait-wait-wait oh okay [Music] okay okay wait wait wait okay [Music] [Music] okay okay wait wait okay see nice nice job I felt like I'm top you were trying to think of different ways to do it and then there was a moment where it was kind of clear what you two were going through and then it became a lot then you were just reacting your scene partner thanks for giving us yeah come check us out at the pit anytime at this point I've prepped for hours on end and I'm definitely feeling it right now but there's no turning back before any actor books a gig you got a body the audition process so I'm trying out in front of an esteemed casting director and alongside Quincy Brown who starred in films like dope and now the show star on Fox are you ready you ready and action so I've debated in my mind for start making arrangements for your new wife your new life for your new boy your new life with Linda everything is alright and that she should sit down [Music] and cut okay so obviously that first take was terrible and it never happens this way but I asked for them to give me another shot to take it from the top and thankfully they let me and action so look let's just get right into it I've known about your affair with my wife from the beginning that's right but this puts me in an uncomfortable situation but I look so so don't speak right now okay do you love my wife I love you why okay look here's what I propose to you you tell your wife today you tell her about the affair that you've been having that you've been cheating on her behind her back she'll be here momentarily whoo-hoo-hoo your wife Carol any minute now see that door right there the clear one yeah she's gonna come walking through that I wasn't ready for this well that's how life works you know you know he's just ready I wasn't ready to be cheated on so you are gonna tell her everything that happened you're gonna explain to her that everything's all right you're gonna be calm when you say this and you tell her everything well here she is was Carol and cut how did I do that was so much better it was it good you were able to control your body you were definitely more serious about this I could see more that you were drone this way trying to threaten him I didn't feel like any lines or just said to be said you were taking in basically you know my demeanor to basically use that deliver your line I will say this you're very monotone if you're in that monotone you have the know where it can still be colorful definitely will say way way way way much better I think there's definitely room to grow but I think you definitely have a shot at this I really think you're a natural I think you're a natural with it the audition process I will say is tough you know you definitely have what it takes if I would give you a little rating right now I would definitely give you more of a commercial kind of like standing rather than like TV film first and let that room for improvement transferring over oh you know me for some TV and film where exact alright both of you guys I thank you so much I appreciate what you're taking it easy on me I don't think I'm that good but I appreciate you both telling me that we would tell your we're told you'll see it back at you see you ain't do too bad I've got a real well-rounded look at what being an actor actually consists of from making my body comfortable and uncomfortable to making a bunch of weird noises it's all for the greater good of the profession alright so acting obviously this is not a job that's easy now some pros of the job itself expressive it's an art form and you can make a lot of money doing it if you're at the top of the craft some cons of the job you can make no money doing it also the uncertainty of schedule you have to deal well with rejection I have a whole newfound respect for actors and actresses shout out to yeah because that'd be killing it [Music] I'm gonna take this cyanide pill and I want you to take my body back to Arizona
