"Purpose Over Everything" - Touré Roberts

hey family pastor T here god bless you listen you're getting ready to hear a powerful message and I wanted to also remind you about the message that is in this book it released as you know on February 6 is already number one new release on Amazon in three different categories if you don't have this book in your life get it in your life it is changing the world one whole person at a time but God bless you for now I've got a great message that I want you to hear check it out it's gonna be less like a sermon and more like a testimony if you'll allow me that and then I'll leave you at the end with the passage of Scripture that I think is relevant to what we discussed today I've been traveling sharing the message of wholeness to anyone who will hear in fact I'll at me if you got the book wholeness and you've already started to read it it's it's changing lives I'll tell you the same thing I told the nine o'clock service if you don't have wholeness there's warfare over your life that's the reason why you don't have it because if I were the enemy of your destiny and the enemy of your best the enemy to the best version of you I would fight you tooth and nail over wholeness I would have you procrastinate and if you have bought it but you haven't started reading it that's warfare to because of what is in it and I've experienced my own warfare even in pushing this book out first of all the book is doing very well I mean it's it's all over the place God is just this is its it it's beyond and the reason why it's doing well is because I believe God wants the message in that book to get out and is changing lives I'm getting so many reports but I also know that there's always going to be an assault against the best version of you one of the things that I've learned about the adversary is he is not super perplexed about you and I finding Jesus what he is more concerned about is you and I finding out who we are in Jesus are you tracking with me he he because he thrives I'm digressing but I feel it he thrives off of his works still in operation in your life posts your encounter with Jesus can teach a little bit just a little bit there's a passage I taught it at the other campus but there's a passage that talks about the purpose of Jesus it says for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil so what does that what are the works of the devil the works of the devil have to do with the residue of what he did to you before you met Jesus but but it's it's not what he is doing to you it's what he did to you and you not being able to recognize and see and notice what he did to you he can still do it to you because you don't know the damage that he caused move past us I gotta just keep on with it and talk to myself to disagree never this okay over there what the enemy did to humanity was traumatic Jesus comes now we're saved we embrace Jesus we've got a place in heaven we have a relationship with God all that's good the only problem is there's still broken stuff and if you never deal with the broken stuff then you have brokenness that perpetuates brokenness while you are in church clapping your hands singing your song talking about how much you love Jesus and there's still generational brokenness that if it doesn't die in you will be passed down to your children and your children's children and he still has victory in your life because you didn't deal with what he did it's almost like the movement of equality the movement of equality is to fight for what is right that's only the first step of the battle next you have to assess the damage because of the years of wrong oh I wish somebody would catch what I just said 62 - to make equal doesn't fix it it just takes it back to where it should have been the issue is there has been damaged for years and generation underneath that so so so equality is wonderful but I want restoration I want Redemption I want what I lost as a result of the injustice are you tracking with me don't don't take what's mine give it back to me and expect me to be happy I should have had it from the very beginning I want an arrest [Applause] what did I lose that's wholeness wholeness says I'm glad you know Jesus now I'm glad that that there's justice now right I'm glad that you have spiritual justice but what areas of brokenness are in your life because of the season of injustice and what am I missing out on because I there's damage that I have not detected and if I was an enemy I would fight you I would never put that book in your hands because as long as you can't see me I can exploit thee and that's why some of you in this room you have holders but you haven't started it I'm glad you bought the book praise the Lord it's a best-seller thank God for you but I didn't write it for you to just buy it I wrote it for you to read it and every one that thing has perfect Amazon scores perfect how do you get I mean somebody ought to be hatin even my YouTube videos get thumbs down how do you get thumbs out of a good news but anyway just haters and you know it's a hater I digress see I wish my wife was here see we're bringing me back but you know it's a hater because the video will be like 45 minutes long and two minutes after it's uploaded somebody is thumb down it yeah just I hate I just yeah but anyway so you don't have the book get the book who has read the book and it's changed your life seriously seemed not enough of you who has who has the book raiser have you had risen ever you don't have the book oh you need to walk right out of here I mean just go to Barnes oh no you can get it from here but anyway anyway so there's warfare over this book and I've experienced crazy warfare and I want to tell you about something that happened to me recently I'll give you some Bible at the end just just trust go with me okay I'm in Chicago on on a press tour for the book and you know it's it's Valentine's Day we get there Sarah and I get there Tuesday night Valentine's Days Wednesday I get up in the morning I'm all bright-eyed bushy-tailed getting ready to do this show it's Windy City live it's a popular show on Channel seven there it's real you know if I am tainment based show it's a new show and it's fun the hosts are real cool and I'm excited about it and in the morn I keep in the morning know Mike honey what should I wear she don't wear this we're picking out what I'm gonna wear you know I was Valentine's Day so once you wear maybe we're sure little Rick oh is that like you like that yeah that's that's our morning right and then like maybe 30 minutes later I start feeling this little tickling sensation underneath my upper lip and I'm like strain but killer here but but you see like this looks good baby what shoes should I wear you know it's all about the outfit and Wow yeah and still yes my mouth is it I'm like honey my mom feels a little numb so I go over to her and I'm like you know miss it looks over and she's like no it's nothing I'm okay and so so after a while you know I'm getting ready to go and now it's about 45 minutes before I'm supposed to be on set and now all of a sudden I am having a hitch moment and in my mouth my top lip family it's just it's like somebody was blowing into my top lip and it was like a balloon and it's and it's literally it's taking over my face and I'm like no Jesus no no no no I gotta go EDTV Jesus no no and and so and so and then you know cuz I'm not no Punk you know then I'm like I'm just gonna do it I'm just gonna you know I'm just gonna own it okay I'm on it and so I started I go on my instant story and I start taking pictures and I'm clowning like yeah you know thick lips is in sexy right cuz I don't think it's gonna get any bigger right and then it gets bigger and bigger and I'm right in front of my eyes and and I wasn't playing anymore and my wife is like and she's trying to keep cool but she's like I think we need to go to the emergency room right and she's googling and she finds out that what's going on is actually life-threatening this condition because it's swelling and swelling and the issue is if you don't get some sort of a steroid or some sort of a shot then your lung your air passage will swell up choke you and kill you I said I don't want to die Jesus so so on our way to the studio we stopped at the ER go into the ER now it's just embarrassing right let's just keep it 100 it's now I'm embarrassed because like you talk about the elephant in the room what happens when the elephant is on your face you know me it's like you know everywhere in doctors and I'm just like and it's embarrassing is difficult to talk and so so I get so I go to the ER I get the steroid and the steroid is going to make it so that this thing doesn't kill me right it keeps the swelling from happening okay but the issue is my lip is still ginormous is just the top left at least if it was the bottom lip it would be equal and it could just look like I tried something that didn't work out okay but it looked absolutely ridiculous and now I have to be on set in 15 minutes and I have a decision to make do I cancel this show where I am scheduled to talk about this book that I know is changing lives all over the world on this popular television station that's going to get crazy press and everything do I preserve my image and cancel the show I do I cancel the need to preserve my image to change lives with the message of this book that's helping people all over the place and I decided to go anyway I feel that for somebody go anyway go anyway go go go anyway so I go you know and I'm just like I just I go and I'm gonna give you kind of five things that I learned in that experience this is more of a testimony I'd go anyway and it's kind of funny because you know I worked myself up to go I'll work myself up to get there and so I go in the room back in the green room with all the other guests and I'm cracking jokes you know I mean I'm the life of the party you know I'm cracking jokes and and people are looking at me and you got to laugh and I don't know if they were laughing at the jokes or show that picture show him a picture of that way that's just sexy pastor and so so just imagine you could turn it back up now I'm starting to get embarrassed again so I'm in the room I'm cracking jokes I'm trying to make a lot of things I'm trying to build myself up because I have to go and and what's crazy is is this show Records with a studio audience so it's not just me and the camera in the two hosts it's me and the camera the two hosts and had to walk out there yeah you're doing I know I'm back in the green room and one of the producers from the show this is after I get my confidence and my courage I'm gonna do I'm gonna take one for the team it's not about me it's not about my image it's all about Jesus right I got my whole story together and then one the producers for the show walks in and says man you know you don't have to do it right I'm gonna go far I'm fine he's like you know no no no we put your image you know and the moment that he said that I knew who sent him he said we really you know we respect your image and I didn't I wasn't there because of my image I'm not here because of my image I'm here because of what God has placed on the inside of me and changing your life is more important than my stupid little image Oh image image image that's up one day and down the next day it was when it was when he used the word image type of servant would I be if I sacrificed my mission for my image I learned something family because I'll be honest with you I didn't know I had that in me can we just have a real transparent moment just for a second I didn't know that that was in me I've never gone on national television looking like the Elephant Man put another picture up there again put a different one up there again I've never do you have a different one look at that look at that who is that that's why she looking at me like that [Applause] she like I'm trying to hear what you're saying but what is coming off of your lips you thought I was kidding okay that's enough I'm getting embarrassed again so so I I couldn't before I was in the moment I couldn't imagine doing that had every excuse to quit but something on inside of me said this is bigger then how you look and if you pass this test I feel like prophesying to somebody God has called you to do something that is going to put your image at risk and I hear God saying if you will put your image to the side and obey God he is gonna promote you in a way that your image never would have been able to because what I didn't know was that me coming on the show and pressing in through my insecurity corroborated the message of the book it made the message of the book incarnate and it drove books sales because people now saw me walking in the power of the message I wish somebody would hear what I am saying to you today you're trying to preserve your image you're trying you're wondering what people are going to say God is not trying to embarrass you God is trying to bless you and so so so my storyteller my storyteller was saying to me see see I talked about in the book I talk about you you have to take control of your storyteller the narrative that you tell yourself because my storyteller was saying don't do this PT you're gonna be on all kind of means you're gonna be the laughingstock of social media you can't do that man they're gonna be talking about you it's gonna be bad and you know what people were saying I've never seen somebody ask courageous and as bold as you I am so glad that you are my leader you are homeless personified I have got to get your book if I want to listen to that voice I would have missed increase and promotion it was trying to talk me out of what God had set up do you think that the enemy can swell up my live without God kidding without God giving him permission this was a setup from the beginning I wonder who is in this house in the middle of a setup and if you choose well God's gonna promote you like you've never seen before it's over your life this is just a test and three days later just like the resurrection my live came back to normal I feel the Spirit of God in this place are you willing to die on the cross and be dead to yourself for three days I hate God saying it's only three days so only three days three days shifted eternity three days of not worrying about his image changed the course of humanity forever God is looking for some people who aren't vain for some people who realize that they are on this planet for a purpose on this planet for a reason the very reason they have breath in their body right now is because heaven has ordained greatness for their life and that person is not caught up over their image because they know their true image is spiritual see that's what I had to connect with that's what I had to connect what they had to connect with the fact that my image is not the Toray that you see my image is not the Toray with normal-sized lips my image is not the Toray with slim fit jeans and invest and tennis shoes all that's cool but that's not Turay if you're buying into that Turay you miss Toure anybody can put on slim jeans tennis shoes vests and shirts you can put that on a dead person that that's not your image oh god I feel God it's not your image the Bible says that we were created in the image of God and in his likeness the Bible also says that God is spirit you see where I'm going we were created in God's image and his likeness and then the Bible says that God is spirit so our image is spiritual so what the Lord had to do in that moment to teach me a very valuable lesson is he had to kill what I'm not about you didn't catch it you see you see sometimes for your own sake God will kill what you're not about because sometimes you will rely in the least part of you and so what God will do is he will shake up the least part of you to get you down to the real you uh-huh so so so so so the enemy so that the producer and God bless his heart the producer coming to me at the last minute saying you know you don't have to do that was trying to rob me from spiritual from a spiritual promotion and upgrade because what I had done was I had already pushed off my to have my outer-image together and I already begin to invest myself in my spirit man are you tracking with me and that's why when I got up and did that interview I want you to watch that interview the Spirit of God fell on me in that interview they forgot all about my lips and started buying books because of my spirit my spirit overtook that moment Oh some of you are relying on the wrong thing you're relying on the wrong I feel the Spirit of God in this house right now God wants to break your reliance off of the wrong thing you're wondering why you can't get breakthrough into the next dimension breakthrough is not coming from your outside your breakthrough is gonna come from who you become inside are you tracking with me stir up the gift of God that is with you it's not gonna come from what you put on it's not gonna come from what you drive it's not gonna come from what you wear it's not gonna come from where you live it's gonna come from the inside out and when you open your mouth glory he's gonna come out I said as long as I can speak let me on this show I don't care if all of my front teeth are gone I don't care if my breath is bad as long as I can get a hallelujah out that's long something's about to overtake me in here right now the most powerful thing you have is your mouth it's who you are inside and we spend on time and we spend literally billions of dollars so here I am in the mirror that morning with my wife trying to figure out what outfit is going crusher and I ain't the only one and it had nothing to do what was gonna crush that room and what was gonna transform that set had nothing to do with what I was gonna put on but had everything to do what I was gonna allow to be stirred on the inside of me you're more valuable than you think we just got to know where to find it I had to become a different person I had points but I don't think I'm gonna do that I had to become a different person family and I'll be honest with you I had to become the type of person that I wouldn't become without help I can't talk to you like this some of you are in situations right now that are designed to help you become who God knows you really are and you are resisting it and you are fighting it and you are cancelling shows man when I tell you I got promoted it looked like the worst thing that could happen to me got any day what could how come this couldn't happen a day later I had no press the next day why did you do it how come I couldn't happen tonight before maybe it wouldn't down by then no he put it right there in front of me to reveal to me what I was really made of because I didn't know I had it in me I didn't know I can be that guy because on the real I wasn't insecure on the real something happened on the inside of me and it did not matter I was confident oh it was crazy like like from the inside out I felt sexy I'll give you the points real quick these are the things that had taught me the first thing was first of all be thankful be thankful every day every single day be thankful man I went from trying on clothes to literally I could have died if it would have happened that night interesting if it happen at night it would have been a greater chance of me dying cuz I could have my throat could have closed up in my sleep and I could have died be thankful every day you're more blessed than you think number two I just run through there number two number two sudden terror doesn't mean the end just because something arises suddenly and sometimes and because maybe it's something that's strong and you've ever experienced before it doesn't mean it's gonna wipe you out one of the things that I've learned about like sudden terror rising up is because you have something in you and it takes certain things to get that level of you to rise up are you tracking with me sometimes you've got to get in a fight to get your fight out of you right so sudden terror doesn't mean the end let's keep going number three number three number three inner security is critical I had to take control of my story teller right because my story teller at first was trying to say hey you know Petey this is crazy man yeah you can't do this you can ready to push a book now there's gonna be press around you looking crazy and I had to shut that thing down I said you know what I'm not defined by how I look I'm defined by the anointing of God that's on my life I'm defined by the fact that I am a son of God I am proven by God I am chosen by God the very gates of Hell cannot prevail against me no weapon formed against me shall prosper man didn't raise me up God raised me up and since man didn't raise me up man can't put I feel the Spirit of the Living God in this place you're looking at a God made man and a God made man will always stand are you tracking with me I had to tell myself the truth right I had to be secure on the inside inner Security's critical number four number four number four we got to go keep your why in sight right so so so the reason why I win is because what's on the inside of me is greater than my image I had why you need a why you need it why for who you are the Bible talks about Paul was teaching Timothy he said always have an answer always have a reason for the hope that you have in front of you you need to always have a why because the why is gonna drive you and last but not least always fight back don't just let stuff happen to you you have an enemy that likes to literally punch you in the mouth and see if you're gonna keep going and you have to get your fight back I don't care what it is if a negative thought comes fight back don't even tolerate depression don't even tolerate feeling bad or feeling sense I'm gonna fight back fight back what do you need to fight back right now what's in your life right now what's in your life threatening you telling you that it's not going to change that it's not going to get better what do you need to fight back right now what's resisting you what's what's standing in the way of what God promised you and why aren't you fighting back I had to fight back it's not always sexy you know what fighting back was me going on the show anyway right me not fighting back with it but I go okay you got me punch me in the mouth let me go sit down somewhere no I'm a fight back I might look funny but I'm a fight back and when I fought back I fought through I press through and lives were changed sometimes it is in the heat of the battle it's when you have tension on you that the best part of you comes forth I want some images to die today I feel like for some in this room right now your image is your handicap your image is your handicap this is a little different from the way we went at the nine o'clock service but I feel like if you can kill your image you will find your destiny come on stand with me come on stand with me I want to pray for you if you're here and this meses was speaking to you and you need to kill your image put that picture of me back up there please this is your pastor is your covering I like to look good trust me you I like to look good I try to keep myself groomed and looking nice and nothing wrong with that but when that becomes more important to you than who you are when how people sees you when how people see you becomes more important to you than how God sees you you have a serious problem because you will sacrifice the pleasure of God for the praise of man family it was liberating brothers and sisters they tell you it was liberating family I wasn't embarrassed I felt my father loved me you know what I'm saying like I felt like man the almighty like right now like ok produce or whatever whatever you know but right now the creator of the heavens and the earth who holds my calling my destiny and my future in my hand is straight up proud of me and when I come through this thing [Applause] he's gonna bless me and promote me and elevate me and he did he did people reaching out from all over the world I can't believe you did that man you just inspire me all over the world hundreds of people hundreds and if we tell the platform's probably more likely mm hundreds thank you for doing it thank you for being strong see sometimes you have to be the one that's strong and you will start a movement of strong people [Applause] everybody's looking for somebody be strong everybody's looking at the next person to be strong everybody's looking at each other and few people want to be strong but I think you're here at this altar because you see strong it's not easy being a strong one it's hard being a strong one you gotta cry like that famous drama but is worth it Jesus was strong for us it says while we were yet without strength Christ died how we were yet without strength one strong person can change everything so my act of Kurt whatever it was Christ courage for me but that one act of courage encouraged others it put encourage encourage to put courage in encouraged others courage is contagious its contagious the most valuable part of you it's not what's outside of him maybe we've been invested in the wrong place this in you family I want you to go back and watch that thing watch then when you get a chance you can find it something happened to me that disfigured that dude man that disfigured faced preacher released a glory on that set that my wife said that's the best interview you've ever done why because I didn't have image in the way didn't have ego image in a way okay so we're taught in this town you gotta be gotta pull me it's a lie you gotta be that when you don't have nothing else you tracking wouldn't it we're gonna mess come on if this and people need to put that ego image ego image ego image on the altar I want you to come down right now there's a resurrection coming to you there's a glory coming to you there's a strength coming to you desert there's a grace coming to you I tell you I'd tell you to to leave your image here at the altar come on just leave your image here at the altar come on come on come on we ought to celebrate like we know God is moving in this house is doing something we go we're gonna put this image at the altar and put this image at the altar we're gonna kill it we're gonna kill it today I am more than what I look like I am more than what I Drive and you can underestimate me if you want to because of what I Drive you can underestimate me if you want to because of what I'm unwilling to do you play with you let me open my mouth I'm dangerous I'm dangerous let me you did you get close enough to me why can open my mouth then and release my glory on you I'm dangerous that's why I wrote that book from the inside out the inside out inside father I'd thank you for what you allowed to happen to me on Valentine's Day and I thank you for giving me the Grace and the strength to hear your story and your narrative in your voice over the voice that wanted me to be weak in the name of image thank you for your grace and father I realize now that that wasn't even for me that was for the thousands and perhaps even millions that would see a man who had a choice choose to put his image down on the altar for the sake of being a blessing to you people and the fruit of it resurrection power elevation and blessing and you did it as an example for your children and I thank you for what you're gonna do in their lives as they lay their image down I'm gonna tell you something else before I finish this prayer so I left there and I went to Dallas Texas to spend a couple days with my father-in-law my dad Bishop Jake's and this trip was different because it was a two-day mentorship conference and God just showed me some things you know I've been I said yes to God like for real for real just under 18 years ago and and God has brought me a really really really long way like in every way that God can bring a man and one of those blessings that I count is obviously being grafted into you know I didn't know when I marry Sarah that I was getting Bishop Jake's she was enough she is enough and I thank God for her in fact I used to be like I don't care who your dad is I notice your dad's Bishop cheeks but I'm my own man I bet my just just prideful stuff that you do he's my best friend how'd you know to me but anyway so I'm there with him and and embracing the responsibilities of what it means to be his son-in-law and not just the responsibility at hand but the responsibilities of the future as it relates to him and his name and his legacy and and some happened cuz I never really look at that I just do what's in front of me but for some reason the Lord had me really look at that and he showed me some things pertaining to that I'd never seen before and we were in a meeting in the glory of God just hidden fell and God is he took me back to 18 years ago when I first said yes to God when there were no mega churches when there were no members when there was no notoriety when there was no increase when there was no nothing when there were no promises when none of that I only wanted to do it because I want to deserve God you don't know saying he took me back and it wasn't that I wasn't in that place but I wasn't in that place does that make sense and it takes me back 18 years as I'm standing in this moment with my father-in-law the most influential pastor in the world and I'm standing there with him and God takes me back to when I first said yes to God I didn't want nothing I didn't need nothing I didn't require anything I just it was just my reasonable service God if you don't do anything for me I just want to obey you this is right I love you I want to serve you if you want me to go talk to three people on the corner I'll do it I don't need a crowd I don't need a mic I don't need security I don't need nothing just just just point me to who you want me to touch and because I love you so much and because I've been touched by you so much I am going to go and do it and my reward is the fact that I did it it takes me back through 18 years of prosperity 18 years of increase 18 years of blessing 18 years and he takes me back to that moment and I cried like a baby because it all didn't matter anymore whether they're 10,000 people following me or two it didn't matter whether I lived in the projects of Jordan down of the hills of Beverly it was a gift to have the glory fall in that meeting in that room in such a way that I had the honor and the privilege of reintroducing myself to that me in this time and my prayer for us here today on all-star weekend is that we would get back to that place we're all we wanted to do was be obedient that the most important thing money is great a little overrated sometimes that's great cuz I know what it's like to have a lot of it and have nothing inside that's where I wasn't I found God in 2000 a lot of it but nothing inside it's terrible cousin then why do you turn that's why people kill themselves well I got the money but I know I'm not inside I wonder if we all could find that place at this altar right now I want you to succeed I want you to win I want you to do well I encourage it I believe it's a sign to you but what if for now since we know seek first the kingdom all those like that we know that that's covered I wonder if for now borrowing all the things that God's gonna do for us for now it can simply be I just want to obey you so father that's what I pray that's what I pray that we would find that place maybe for some to rediscover that place for others to find that place for the first time where we see God the value and just being yours and allowing the chains to break the shackles that makes us need to feel like we're important by man's standards for that to break off of us and from the inside out they come to this place of true humility and true brokenness as we recognize it if it had not been for you we wouldn't be here if it had not been for your mercy and your grace and your protection and your love and your favor in your Redemption some of us almost lost our mind but you allowed us to keep our minds some of us almost lost our lives but you allowed us to keep our lives if it had not been for you and you are the most important thing in our life and we live our idols down you are our Idol thank God we're gonna work on the inside we're gonna let it all go we're no longer gonna be seduced and tricked by what the enemy praises but God we're gonna live by what you celebrate so we opened up to you Holy Spirit have your way break we're breaking is needed we throw our idols against this altar right now even the idol of self would throw the image itself down that need for man's approval the need to be sane the need we we throw it all down and we proclaim and acknowledge that the best of us is what is in us I want you to be able to be Heavenly Father I thank you for this word you've touched me and I receive it you are the Potter I am the clay I give you permission to shape in and mold me and make me into what you see fit I lay my image at this altar and I trust you for my identity I thank you for Jesus thank you for making him who had no sin all of mine I thank you for marring his image that I might discover my own thank you for making him my brokenness my weakness my shortcomings and my limitations you put them in his body nailed it to the cross and put it to death and just as he was raised up free and victorious because I'm in him my spirit is raised to Holy Spirit fill my life with your glory and goodness so that from me you may be seeing in Jesus name Amen amen god bless you hey my friend I pray that that message blessed your life it blessed me for sure I want to also encourage you to pick up wholeness winning in life from the inside out this book is going to change your life god bless you I'll see you next time
