good evening and happy sabbath i want to take this opportunity to welcome each and every one of you back to our praise and prayer service this afternoon it's a time where we could come together and join from all over the world praise the lord and uplift one another in prayer uh just a few house rules before we begin i know we we usually go over these but for those of you that are joining us for the first time um you we the songs we choose are not pre-chosen by the team here they're chosen by you so if you have a favorite hymn that you would like to sing we're using the the latest version of the sda hymnal please go ahead and you can send in your request there there should be a number at the bottom of the screen as well as uh through youtube through facebook uh even through zoom if you would like to join us that way uh feel free to send in your request and we we'd be more than happy to sing it with you all this this afternoon and um we do one song per family so please keep that in mind just so that we can um go through all of the different requests and go through all of the uh prayer requests as well in a timely manner in the time that we have allotted so um our first song this prayer for her for her nephew richard and so we're going to say a prayer for her nephew richard as well as open a prayer to open up our services this afternoon so i'm going to ask if my someone if you pan the camera over there's a guy that kind of looks like me over there it's not ready this time uh his name is melvin so i'm going to ask melvin to go ahead and offer the opening prayer as well as a prayer for linda's nephew richard let's pray our most gracious kind and heavenly father thank you lord for bringing us throughout the whole sabbath be with us as we have come to the end a lot be with us as we are praising and praying for the sick and the needy and especially i pray for uh linda and her family and her nephew named richard a lot be with them as they're going through their challenges bless them guide them lead them in thine way and be with us as we are going to sing uh songs and praise thy name oh lord for as the short prayer and the name of lord and savior jesus christ amen amen very special way oh lord you know what they need o father and lord you want to have a relationship with them and so lord i pray that you would first and foremost be their personal savior oh lord be their god and become real to them o father send your spirit there and um lord make a difference in their lives we pray also for protection for them o lord for their health if there's any hell challenges out there lord we pray that you would touch them from the tip of their heads to the soles of their feet and uh lord may they be in perfect health oh father lord you came to give life and life more abundantly o lord and so we pray that you would bless them in all aspects of their life spiritually mentally and physically oh lord bless them and press their cup down and made overflow marvin dao's brother who's having some health challenges let's pray dear heavenly father we thank you so much for the sabbath day that you've given us your lord we especially pray pray for marvin who's having some health challenges your lord you are our healer and we have seen so many miracles happen through you dear lord we have seen the sick being healed your lord and we know you can do everything dear lord thank you so much for blessing each and every one of us and keep us safe in jesus name i pray amen amen our next tim request comes from angel uh angel it was it was nice to see that it uh prayers because the president has been assassinated um so i would like to request um kishore if you can go ahead and offer prayer for them the country um and just generally fit down okay father we want to um we come before you now lord uh asking that you'd be with the people of haiti father um we know that uh we we we sympathize and empathize with them as there's there's tragedy that happened over their father and we ask oh lord that you'd be with the people over there lord send your spirit calm the people there lord help help people to understand that you're in control of father and we pray that that there would be peace in that country o father we pray for all those that are there lord keep them safe oh lord [Music] lord we pray for your protection father send your angels and protect all those any protectional father lord may people find comfort in you and may people um lord just just have peace that passeth all understanding even though things are going wrong in this world the lord may they may they may they say that there is a god in heaven who sees who cares and lord who takes care of them and the lord uh also for those that are that are that are in the faith over there lord we pray that you would strengthen them um to be a blessing to others that are there oh lord may this be an opportunity where they can show that there is a god to those that don't believe o father we pray that you'd also be with adele as well as keep her safe as well keep her and her family safe oh lord thank you so much for hearing this prayer lord we know that you you have said lord if if we pray asking in the name of jesus oh lord that you hear our prayer and that lord if you hear it then we have it o father and you know we know that you also want us to seek the peace of the cities that we live in oh lord and so lord hear and answer this prayer in the name of jesus christ who died for us who redeemed us oh lord in jesus christ precious and holy name we pray amen in a world of turmoil there's just that one person we can hold on to and that is jesus our next request comes to us from uncle patrick a very happy sabbati uncle and he has requested him number 108 um in florida those that are we um that the rescue teams are still looking for as well as the families of those that are missing so i'm gonna ask um um sony if you don't mind offering a prayer for that dear heavenly father we come to you again dear lord this time with grief in our hearts to your lord as to what has happened in florida dear lord with the condo i please ask that you be with those dear lord who are working day and night to find survivors your lord and especially be with their families dear lord those who have lost their loved ones please in this time please give them peace to your lord and this is not the last time your lord they will be able to see their family members when your son comes in the clouds of heaven dear lord i ask that you be with everybody dear lord in florida your lord and those who who are just grieving at this time once again thank you so much for blessing each and every one of us and bless them all dear lord in jesus name i pray amen amen i see that would be that would be great um and if we can keep philip holder and karen guy also in prayer you know that would be great you know they're part of the remnant family we see them every week even though we haven't met face to face you know they're faithful in joining us in these services so uh sonali if you don't mind offering that prayer let's bow our heads in prayer our loving heavenly father we want to praise you for keeping us all safe and blessing us but we want to at this time submit philip and karen into your keeping their families and those all that have been been affected by hurricane elsa father we pray that she would be with these families bless them take care of them provide for them you are a great provider and father under your wings of father everything is safe let us claim to the promise of protection with you father we pray that you would bless them their families keep them safe provide for them we pray for all of the other families as well i want to submit philip is doing fine um and i guess he just needs to get back to the service but we're going to keep them in prayer anyway as especially [Music] the islands that were affected as well and those that praying for you uh um and so it's it's wonderful to hear that our prayers have been answered and i see dao has sent you a message as well but carol uh praise the lord um you know we serve a god that hears not only hears our prayers but answers them not just in times of the bible but today he's a living god and he's a god that cares for you and and me so let's go ahead and turn to him number 625 higher ground him number 625. and actually as we turn there let's just say a quick word of us quick prayer to thank the lord for for healing carol and i'll go ahead and offer the prayer father we want to thank you for this day we want to thank you o lord um that you are a god that answers prayers o lord we want to thank you for being with carol for being with the surgery thank you for allowing everything to go well o father uh thank you for being with the doctors and guiding their hands o lord and lord thank you that oh lord even though we have you know whatever treatments we have oh lord with that thank you for for allowing the healing to happen oh lord without your um blessing o lord um you know our hope is in vain and so lord thank you for healing carol lord continue to keep her in good health and lord if she still has some recovery to go through lord we pray that you continue to be with her bring her back to normal health and strength and lord bring her back to better health and strength than what she was before and lord thank you for this testimony well father we pray that you would use carol's story to bring people to the foot of your cross and use her to bring people into your kingdom oh lord and to show others that there is a god that not only hears prayers but answers them and that cares for us oh lord and cares for each and every one of us on an individual through hard times he empathizes with us he hears our prayers and the bible says we have not we have a high priest that is touched with the feelings of our infirmities because he knows what we went through he was human like we are human um and so he cares about us and so that this is a wonderful song thank you so much for sending this in solomon family we really appreciate it now we're going to and justin and also joash and reuben we truly appreciate that let me share with you very familiar passage taken from by the way 5 16 would be the closing song all the way i can do all things through christ which strengtheneth me found in philippians chapter 4 verse 13. have a positive attitude in life in a recent research that was done by john hopkins this is what they came up with a conclusion and let me just share with you three pointers or three nuggets of truth based on god's word that would really help us to face this new week ahead of us number one smile more king solomon the wisest man that ever lived says in proverbs chapter 17 verse 22 a merry heart what does it do do a good like a medicine a merry heart there's a beautiful english saying that says smile and the whole world smiles with you cry and you cry alone now we are social beings that is how god created us we want to be among people no man is an island that's the saying goes again and so when you're with people you want people to accept you you want people to receive you and for and you want people to be around you because you are a social being we as christians that is how god made us and for you to really enjoy christian life is to have a positive attitude and to have a positive attitude that as the bible says here smile more now i'm not a science student so i cannot go into the details as to what are some of the things that can happen with all the different nerves that goes along when you smile but one thing the bible says very clearly a merry heart do it good like a medicine in fact john hopkins research concludes this people will smile even intentionally or unintentionally they're able to reduce their heart rate and their blood pressure as you know john hopkins one of the most reputed universities in the world after going through a deep detailed research among many many thousands of people this is what they discovered people who smile more people who are happy people who have a positive attitude have can reduce their heart rate as well as their blood pressure and it is all again based biblically very hard to a good like a medicine number two the second negative truth that we can how we can have a positive attitude is this try to reframe the situation that you're facing in you can look at a glass and say it is half full or half empty how do you look at life how is your perspective in life i know our people all you have to say how are you doing and they have a long list of complaints to make how life is so miserable now when i worked for one of the christian school here for almost 20 some years the owner of the school regardless of whatever the challenge that she had to face financially or with regard to the students or with regard to the government agencies army with regard to these staff whenever anybody passed by and said dr washington how are you doing her immediate answer is fantastic i'm standing right next door i know exactly because we have sat down we have gone through the challenges but our response is always how are you doing dr washington fantastic she always reframed the situation there's a beautiful text here in matthew chapter 14 verse 15. jesus is in the desert place when people come to know that jesus is in the desert place a great multitude follow him seeing the multitude the bible says that jesus had compassion and he began to speak to them and by the time you finish talking to them and teaching to them it is evening and now the disciples come to jesus if you read carefully and the word of god is there's a master we are in a desert place the time is far spent send the multitude away look at the situation here jesus reframes the situation from the disciples point of view this is not the time to linger any longer it is getting dark it is a desert place we cannot provide any food for this great multitude send them away quite natural quite human but see how the jesus how the lord jesus christ reframes the situation instead of a cup being half full of empty he's making it half full he says no don't send them away see if anybody has any food and then andrew comes forward and says oh there's a little lad he has got two fish and five loaves of bread and you all know the story very well with that jesus fed the people and there was 12 baskets left over even if you're in the worst of situations dwell on the goodness of the lord praise him in the worst of times and when you begin to praise him problem becomes smaller and your god becomes bigger and keep in mind our god is much bigger than any challenge that you might face right now or you might face in this coming week and so what do you do not only have it smile more but also reframe the situation because that's exactly what jesus did in the desert and number three here's the second third negative truth how you can have a positive upbeat christian life in this coming week it is simply this when you face a problem don't run away from it face it and don't think by ignoring is going to go away in other words you must have a spirit of resilience that you must be able to get up and start walking let me share with you a very beautiful passage here again taken again from matthew chapter 19 verse 26 if you notice very carefully there jesus is turning the disciples and makes this beautiful observation he says with man this is impossible but with god all things are possible and so have this approach with you whoever you are whatever the challenges you might be facing whether you're sick physically or you're facing a spirit spiritual battle or you're facing a financial crisis whatever it is the bible says not me jesus our lord says with men this is impossible whatever your problem is impossible but with god all things are possible that is my prayer to you as we enter into new week unknown and uncertain make sure to smile more very hard do it good like a medicine reframe the situation don't look at a cup as half empty but always look it as look at it as half full and lastly with man this thing is impossible but with god all things are possible face it confront it and with god on your side you will face and experience victory god bless you have a wonderful sabbath and a wonderful week thank you pastor john for that wonderful message indeed with god everything as possible and claiming to that promise
