sabbath day um thank you for bringing us all here um be with the sabbath school service help us to all learn something from today and help us always listen to you and thank you for everything in jesus name and pray amen good morning and happy sabbath everybody this morning i want to talk for our future talk i want to say a few words on jealousy when you are jealous you cannot be jealous on yourself you have to be jealous on others that means you are thinking bad and you want to do some bad things to others that's the meaning of jealous i have a small story how jealousy kills yourself there was a man who was a sculpture he he made a statue out of a big stone it was very beautiful and when it was done it was erected on a place where people walk everybody has they pass by they appreciate the handiwork of this man when one one guy one jealous person noticed and he wanted to put an end to this he planned to destroy the statue so what he did he got a chisel and a hammer every day when it was dark he goes in the evening when everybody was not around he started chiseling little by little every day he took many days eventually he succeeded to drop the statue unfortunately last day when he did the statue fell on him and he died he crushed to death there was nobody to rescue him that's what jealousy leads in the bible we have a story in the book of esther chapter 7 how haman set a plot against the mordekai mordukai was a jew he was honored but heman hammond was he was official he got jealous he set a plan to kill jews jewish people and especially mordecai he set up a poll and he reported to the king about mordecai he he told bad about him mordecai came to know his plot then he pleaded queen esther one day queen esther invited king along with hammond and and the king asked esther what is your petition what is your wish i will fulfill it even i will go to the extent of giving half of my kingdom queen esther revealed the plot of hemon to kill mordecai then king got angry and he ordered his servants to hang hammond so hammond was hanged see when we are jealous it will reflect us it will turn to us the jealousy will lead us to destruction so let us not be jealous on others thank you good morning church the mission report this morning is from the um trinidad and tobacco islands and the title of the mission story is god makes no mistakes many children who live on caribbean islands have nicknames crystal white has a sister named katherine but everyone calls her paulie because she's like a parrot and talks a lot crystal has another sister called russia and everyone calls her mob mopsy because she's skinny as a mob stick crystal's father called her ugly he gave her the nickname one day while she was sitting on the stairs in her their house in kumberto village in trinidad and tobacco as father passed her on the stairs he patted her on the leg hi ugly he said crystal felt horrible children sometimes called their names at schools but now her own father is making fun of her at home i'm not ugly crystal protested the father did not consider her words you are the ugliest child that i ever made he said crystal felt even worse father had 10 children now she actually felt ugly father's words changed her life she began to struggle with depression and considered suicide she stabbed herself because she thought that she would be pretty if she was thin every day after school she stared into the mirror in her bedroom and picked herself apart why did you why did you you forehead have to be so big she thought tears streaming down her cheeks why did your teeth have to be so big why did you have to be so fat one day as she stood in front of the mirror picking herself apart and crying she heard a song came over the radio always remember that you are so beautiful the musician sang always remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by god you are a child of jesus christ the lord the word surprised crystal she thought if i am fearfully and wonderfully made by god and i am picking apart everything then i am telling god that he made a mistake she cried harder and asked god for forgiveness her tears of sadness and pity were transformed into tears of joy she decided to see herself through christ's eyes rather than the eyes of people for the first time at the age of 17 she began to see herself through jesus eyes the words of psalm 139 14 was took on a new meaning and she read with joy i will praise you for i am fearfully and wonderfully made marvelous arya works and that my soul i my soul knows very well she began to eat again corn soup with potatoes cassava carrots pumpkin and dashing root tasted good she felt no longer worthless she had a reason to live instead of feeling sorry for herself she learned to put everything in god's hands she began to trust god not just for daily needs but for her joy as well she realized that no one could take away the joy that comes from god whenever someone called her names she just ignored it when father calls her ugly she remembered that god made her this is the way god made me she told herself god makes no mistakes today crystal is 33 and a church leader who loves telling young people about her god who made no mistakes i feel like i did not have anyone in my corner when i was young she said i want to be the person who tells others that god has a purpose for them just like he has for me thank you for your 13th sabbath offering three years ago to construct the first ever church building at crystal's alma mater university of the southern caribbean in trinidad and tobacco thank you also for remembering the university with this quarter's 13th sabbath offering which will help open a better living center of influence on the campus to train students to be missionaries for jesus thank you at this moment will be flavor favored by a ministry in music by justine beckham [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] save us all in the kingdom i pray in jesus name amen good morning and every happy sabbath to each one of you we have another wonderful lesson before we delve into god's word let us close our eyes and bow heads and seek his blessings loving father in heaven we thank you once again for this beautiful sabbath morning we thank you for the sabbath day and what it means to us as we open your word we pray that you will open our hearts and minds may your holy spirit guide us lead us to the lessons that we need to learn to reinvigorate our spiritual life and maybe been drawn closer to you we pray in jesus name amen if you remember the sabbath school quarterly this week is entitled the promise the promise the everlasting covenant now as i watched the previous cyber school studies i did not recognize if that particular title was addressed we have covered several covenants in the history of mankind with adam with noah with abraham with moses and we also covered the new covenant in one of the last couple of weeks now these covenants were all made at different points in time in the history of mankind but the title of our quarterly this quarter is the promise the everlasting covenant now the question is why is it called the everlasting covenant if all these covenants were made with various individuals at different points in time so as i was looking for the answer then i think we have some trouble with the slides so i'll have to okay this is a quotation from science of the times august 24 1891 paragraph 10 the covenant of grace now this usually refers to the new covenant and all the other covenants are subsumed under this come under this the covenant of grace so we have different terms that are used uh both in our discussions in the church as well as in the writings of ellen white the new covenant the everlasting covenant the covenant of grace these are all terms that can be used interchangeably so here she says the covenant of grace is not a new truth for it existed in the mind of god from all eternity this is why it is called the everlasting covenant so now we have the answer to to the subheading of the title of this quarter's lesson studies the everlasting covenant was in the mind of god from all eternity now there is some scriptural backing for it romans 16 25 where going on she quotes um apostle paul and says the apostle paul speaks of the gospel the preaching of jesus christ as quote the revelation of the mystery which has been kept in silence through times eternal but now is manifested by the scriptures of the prophets and so on so even the scriptures refer to the fact that this is a mystery that has been hidden from time immemorial and is manifested in these last days okay we'll go to our memory text which was read earlier as scripture reading but noah found grace in the eyes of the lord and this is something that we will come back to it all these covenants that we talk about as i've already mentioned come under the broad term or umbrella the covenant of grace because behind all this covenants is a gracious god a loving god a merciful god and that is why he offers covenant now what exactly is the covenant now where his definitions can be given but in short a covenant is an agreement it is a loving god trying to reach out to man to restore the relationship that has been lost because of sin so it's god's attempt and arrangement that he has made whereby he can claim us back as his children in short that is what it means now covenants we are told are of different kinds okay i think we've got the thing so proceed okay let us go according to the slide now when god created the the earth he asked a verdict he says everything was good and finally very good now from very good at the beginning in eden to noah's time when we are told that sin abounded how did it get to that stage that state of depravity if i can call it that so rapidly and the author of the lesson quarterly starts and gives an example of bacteria one bacterium if it multiplies at the rate of an hour the bacteria is divided into two you know one divides into two two into four and so on and if it divides once every hour then in 24 hours they'll have there'll be 16 million bacteria and in 40 hours 48 hours billions of bacteria so he likens this multiplication of bacteria to sin is analogous to the sin multiplying on this earth we have to remember that those days people used to live for very long periods of time and they they were you know reproducing uh procreating you know having progeny over many years and since they lived long and had many children and then they had children and so on so it is said that by the time the flood occurred there are millions of people on the earth already the other thing we have to understand is the skin sin is um not static it is a very dynamic process when we sin when i sin i just don't stand one and it's done it has an effect on me on my mind and many instances on the rest of the body as well on different organ systems and that continues to fester and then we have to i have to make a conscious decision to go against it to do something else to allow god's spirit to work on my heart and mind and make the right choices or else the process continues to go from bad to worse now here is a description of the of the condition at the time of noah genesis 6 5 and god saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and think of this every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually so every imagination everything inclination of the heart is evil in the next verse which is 6 11 genesis 6 11 the earth was also corrupt before god and the earth was filled with violence so the ha heart the head was messed up completely there's violence there corruption nothing good now as far as the scriptures are concerned we have a very brief description in these verses and maybe a few others but ellen white in pray tags and prophets especially in chapter seven the flood gives a a little more detailed description of the kinds of things that were going on at that time and once you read it you will think that she's describing our day on this earth she says that people were just given over to their lusts trying to uh dedicated to pleasure seeking there was violence there was corruption there was a competition they were building houses spending a lot of resources such as gold silver wood and so on to build houses and comparing one with the other they were eating and drinking especially flesh food even before the flood they started eating flesh food and that had made them very violent she says she also talks about atheism they forgot about god and acted as he didn't exist believed that he didn't exist and there was idol worship on various groves and so on so all these things were occurring at any given time okay we'll proceed here is a brief uh diagram i'm not very computer savvy but i try to make something if it could illustrate how sin works here on the left i think i'm not getting it too okay here on your left you see love and trust now this is what happens in a in an ideal relationship when adam and eve were created their relationship with god and with each other was one of love and trust and then what happens satan comes and introduces a lie he implies that god is not fair and cannot be trusted because god had told them they would die if they ate of the fruit but satan says you will surely not die and what does eve do eve believes so when you have a situation of love and trust and lies are introduced and you believe it the change that occurs is on the other side on your right fear and selfishness so love and trust if liars are introduced and believed it leads to fear and selfishness and do we see that in adam and eve after their fall yes what was the first question god asked them where are you and what does adam say i hid because i was naked and god says have you eaten us a fruit and what does adam do what selfish act does he display or perform he blames eve he says this woman whom you made for me she is the one who gave me and i ate and what does she do she blamed the serpent so that's a manifestation of selfishness so they were afraid and selfish so there is fear and selfishness and that leads to selfish acts now that becomes a vicious circle the more you engage in acts of selfishness the further away you are going from love and trust so it's a vicious circle and it keeps going from bad to worse so that is how sin works and this is what was happening in the anti-bolivian world so sin progressed exponentially just like the example of bacteria multiplying rapidly now what is the treatment for that a cycle of fear and selfishness what do you have to do because it has been caused by believing in lies you have to be shown the truth and once you believe the truth there is a possibility of restoration of love and trust and this is what jesus came to demonstrate he brought us the truth about god men believe even now as back then that god was a stern god who was out to get them but jesus came to show that god is the god of love and that is the truth and truth about god's character and once we believe that we will put our trust in him and then he will put back his love in our hearts and minds i hope that was of some use to you know off on grace in the eyes of the lord now why is it that noah was the only one who found grace in the eyes of the lord is it because god was partial to noah or now grace as we all know we commonly define it as unmerited faith favor or just favor but there's one definition i saw in one of the dictionaries acceptance and i thought that was very very nice god accepts us you know so god has given us an opportunity to choose him to recognize that he is still looking out for us because what is the natural tendency of sin if sin enters my life and if god does not intervene in my life i will never look for god so what did god do in genesis 3 15 i will put enmity between you and the seed of the woman so god has put enmity between us and evil satan so that helps us to and that is the working of the holy spirit and that leads us to gives us an opportunity to choose god and when we deliberately choose god then we are accepting his grace okay there are a lot of verses in our lesson about the progression of sin in genesis 3 6 the woman saw it and all that then genesis 3 11-13 god asked who told you that you were naked and so on genesis 4 5. cain and abel bring the offerings genesis 4 8 cain takes able because cain's sacrifice is not accepted and he kills him in the field genesis 4 18 lamech takes two wives ada and zilla and then he tells zilla a few verses later that i have killed a man for wounding me then genesis 6 2 we have sons of god marrying daughters of men now sons of god it is believed that their children are descendants of seth who were loyal to god for a good length of time whereas daughters of men were descendants of cain and others who were not loyal to god and then people from one group marry the other that is compromise and that leads to seen the bonding okay monday section i will read it here since the slide is not available genesis 6 9. i'm reading from new king james version this is monday section the man noah this is the genealogy of noah noah was a just man perfect in his generations noah walked with god now here tells us that noah was a just man perfect in his generations now uh some other versions say he was a righteous man blameless and noah walked with god how was it that noah was a righteous man aren't we all human beings sinners if so how is it that the scriptures tell us that noah was a righteous man a just man the answer is right there because he chose to walk with god and amos 3 3 7 which tells us can two walk together unless they be agreed so they were of the same mindset okay i know i found grace in the eyes of the lord we have already mentioned that now one thing we have to remember we often very easily glibly say that we are saved by grace through faith and so on but we have to remind ourselves it is not grace that some quality that saves us it is god who saves us from sin so behind grace is a gracious being a god of love and mercy a gracious being who is there and and as we talk about this covenants we must remind ourselves of the same thing okay we'll move on to tuesday's section covenant with noah we have a text there at the beginning genesis 6 18 but i will establish my covenant with you and you shall come into the ark you your sons your wife and your son's wives with you okay so here god says i will establish my covenant now covenants as i did some reading i found out that there used to be of two kinds one is among equals the two parties involved are equal equivalent power prestige influence and so on whereas on the other side the two parties were unequal one had more prestige power authority and so on and that kind of situation we saw among feudal lords who dealt with common people or among susan or suzerain you know feudal lords or a covenant between god and man god is all-powerful all-knowing and loving so he is up there in every way so in covenants where two unequal parties are involved the conditions are laid by the higher authority and the other party just follows it now covenant has several conditions provisions responsibilities and so on the higher authority lays it out and the other party conforms to it now in earthly covenants the covenant is enforced by force okay military might or uh or some financial penalty or something like that but in the case of god how is it different he is a god of love and mercy and he gives us the choice to accept the conditions or reject them so it's entirely up to us he has made all provisions whereby we can be restored to a relationship with him and he offers us his in this case in genesis 6 18 we see i will establish my covenant with you and you shall come into the ark you your sons your wife and your son's wives and so on now the lesson makes a point of obedience being a very important element of the covenant and it is but my take is that even before obedience there should be trust there should be trust and god says this is what i'm going to do to you i'm going to save you save your family i have to know i had to put all his trust in god and once he fully trusted god it was manifest in his actions he began to build a boat he preached and tried to persuade the rest of the people to join him and uh unfortunately he was not successful but so that is how it is so also in all covenants god lays out the condition tells us what he's going to do our response should be to evaluate what he is saying see whether he is trustworthy and respond to him with trust and once we have put our trust in him completely we will be willing to follow him obey him tell others about him give our resources to him and so on okay wednesday section sign of the rainbow genesis 9 12-13 and god said this is the covenant which i make between me and you and every living creature that is with you for all future generations i set my bow in the cloud and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth so this is the second covenant god makes with noah the first one was that he would save them in the ark the second one was after the flood and he tells him i'm going to put the bow in the cloud this is the rainbow now you can imagine the first time it rained heavily there was worldwide flood and everything was devastated now if you were to reign again what would the reaction of the people be they think it might destroy the earth again so in consideration for their feelings to reassure them god says that i'm going to show you a sign i'm going to put the rainbow in the cloud and when i see it in verse 15 it says i will remember my covenant does that mean god forgets no not really he was just trying to use human language to make them understand in other words when you see the rainbow you must remember that i will not destroy this earth again so the rainbow is not just a beautiful object for us to see any joy or to show to our children and you know get them excited but it is an evidence of god's faithfulness and god's grace and always concern for us so that we won't be afraid here's a quotation from the desire of ages the rainbow promise by the way this is before that i should have said in the bible there are several descriptions of rainbows one is in revelation chapter four verses two and three especially verse three where it talks about a rainbow encircling the throne of god in heaven in the in the throne room of heaven and elon might comments on it the rainbow promise encircling the throne on high testifies to the universe that god will never i've lost the quotation uh that he will never destroy the earth with flood again and the that he continues to um uh have all well-being in his mind so rainbow is not just a beautiful natural phenomenon but it tells us about god's faithfulness and grace now this was the first time the rainbow was seen because it had never rained before we are told that the mechanism of rainbow is that the water drops they reflect refract and disperse you know these are different terms that are used light comes into the rain drops drops in the atmosphere and it changes the direction of the light as it passes through the drops and inside the drop it is reflected and then again it passes out and again changes direction such that it splits the light into different components so you see red on one side and violet on the other side and other colors in between okay thursday's section only noah was left now here we have a reference a verse genesis 7 23 he blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the ground man and animals and creeping things and birds of the air they were blotted out from the earth only noah was left and those that were with him in the ark genesis 7 23 now highlighted the words was left because that is what the lesson wants to highlight the word from which was left is translated is shar share something like that in hebrew now this will share and its derivatives are used hundreds of times maybe more than 500 times the old testament and basically they mean what is left or another term that we as seven adventists use often as the remnant so the concept of remnant is very prominent in the scriptures throughout and at every stage there have been there has been a remnant that have been faithful to god just like in noah's time no more no hours no and his family was only once that was saved so also when they went to captivity there's only a certain number that returned when elijah was fleeing from the the from jezebel and he went and he was in the cave he thought he was the only one when god told him that there were seven thousand others who hadn't bought two idols and then of course we know that at the end of time there will be a remnant that will be faithful to god okay i was under the impression that we'd be having we'd be opening the the sabbath school to discussion but i don't think that's going to happen yeah uh okay here is uh in genesis 45 7 another use of the word remnant this is joseph says and god sent me before you you remember the story joseph was sold and he went to egypt and he he rose up the ranks and advised pharaoh to stock up grains so that the country would survive and the people from neighboring countries also benefited including his family members who had come down to gather grain buy grain from egypt and joseph when he meets them he tells them and god sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to keep alive for you many survivors so that's a very important um instance where the word remnant is used of course what are some of the characteristics of the remnant as described in revelation 12 17. the dragon was wroth and went to make war with the remnant over seed that is the woman's seed and what two characteristics do they have number one they keep the commandments of god and number two they have the testimony of jesus which is the spirit of prophecy so those are identifying characteristics of the remnant apart from that in the third angel message at the end we are told here is the patience of the saints here are they that one again keep the commandments of god and have the faith of jesus which can also be translated as faith in jesus so faith of jesus of faith in jesus so that is the remnant and that is the key to restoring our relationship with god having faith or trust in jesus trusting jesus and once we trust him we will obey trust and obey for there is no other way and it is the same same principle that holds true when it comes to the covenant god offers us a restoring of his relationship with us now i've already mentioned that this covenant has been there in the mind of god from all eternity and and that is the everlasting covenant or the covenant of grace or the new covenant now why is it called the new covenant because it is given after the old covenant now the old covenant we refer to the situation in exodus chapter 19 where god gave them the commandments and the people said all that the lord has said we will do so it was the response the promise of the people to god giving them the commandments all that the lord has said we will do now the contrast between the new covenant and the old covenant is old covenant was based on the promises of the people in the new covenant which is first mentioned in jeremiah 31 31-34 it is based on the promises of god so it's based on better promises as hebrews tells us number two the old covenant was ratified by the blood of animals and that is confirmed by the blood of animals whereas the new covenant is confirmed by or ratified by the blood of jesus okay and uh those are the two immediate differences that i can think of and uh what does uh god tell us in the new covenant maybe we should read that we as a church more than any other church i guess emphasize the importance of ten commandments because most people seem to leave out the fourth commandment and in trying to place importance on the fourth commandment we emphasize the ten commandments which is as it should be but the ten commandments are not just something that need to be written in a book or on a piece of paper or on a plaque and hung on the wall but this passage will tell us behold the days are coming says the lord when i will make a new covenant with the house of israel and with the house of judah not according to the covenant i made with their fathers in the days that i took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of egypt so he's contrasting this one with the other covenant that was made in exodus my covenant which they broke though i was a husband to them says the lord but this is the covenant that i will make with the house of israel after those days says the lord and here here is the most important part i will put my law in their hearts i will put my law in the minds and write it on their hearts and i will be their god and they shall be my people so this is the new covenant god intends to restore the relationship by putting his law in our minds and hearts now what does that mean it's not just we'll memorize the words or so on but what are the law the ten commandments are summary of what is the gist of it keeping the law is having his god's love in our hearts so in other words he will put his love in our hearts that is the new covenant so when you think about the new covenant of course we will think about the ten commandments and so on but more than that we should consider whether god god's love has filled our hearts and minds and how does it affect our daily lives how does it affect our behavior does it benefit my family members or my church members or neighbors my colleagues at work and so on so if god's law is written in our hearts we will be filled with his love so it's not just a matter of coming to church on a certain day or refraining from killing someone it is more than that is having a love which manifests in positive acts of outreach to our fellow men so this is the new covenant and the other covenant that we two covenants that we talked about that god made with noah one before the flood when he invited them to come into the ark and the other covenant where he said he had put the bow in the clouds to indicate that he would not destroy the earth again these were all an extension and application of this new covenant at different points in time okay is there any question or comment if any of you have if not we will conclude i was going to understand that i had only about 20 minutes or so in which i would cover the lesson then we'd have a discussion with group on zoom but apparently that hasn't worked out so let's bow heads for a word of prayer our loving father in heaven we thank you once again for the privilege that we have just had of going over some of the things that you've written for us you are love you are a god of mercy and grace and you are looking out for us all the time you have made all the right moves to claim us back to yourself that we may be able to get rid of sin in our lives and get back with you we pray that as we live on this earth as we read your word listen to sermons as we pray that you will fill us with your spirit and may he pour your love into our hearts in so doing may the new covenant be fulfilled in our lives and once that occurs we know that we cannot channels of blessing for you to one another to our family members to our colleagues at work to the community in which we live and to our church members please continue to be with us as we worship you today may your name be glorified in all that we do as we continue to sing song go praises to your name give us the voices to lift up your name and glorify you may the viewers online viewers be able to join us in spirit and in truth and derive the rich blessings that you have in store for all of us today may your spirit speak to us point us to the way back to you if we feel the nearness of your presence today in a way that we haven't felt before and may have been drawn to you we thank you for hearing our prayers for we pray in jesus name amen good morning and a happy sabbath to you and welcome to the remnant seventh-day adventist church we are so happy that you could join with us on this beautiful sabbath morning i just want to mention a few names i see that are joining us we have cordelia marie dao esther singh auntie stacy ann martin juanita swann sunny jack earl jules coryne fender charmaine maxwell dustin macbee merritt gobezzi and vaisu vegeta thank you each for joining us today and for all those whose names i couldn't mention this morning i would like to read a promise in the word of god we can find it in psalms 103 verse 12. it's a well-known verse to many it reads as far as the east is from the west so far had he removed our transgressions from us ellen white talks about this verse and thoughts from the mount of blessing 114 she says god's forgiveness is not merely a judicial act by which he sets us free from condemnation it is not only forgiveness for sin but reclaiming from sin it is the outflow of redeeming love that transforms the heart what a wonderful promise that god gives us in the bible the distance between east and west is infinite god has taken away our sins infinitely when we repent he has rescued us from the clutches of sin he has redeemed us with his love and in the same way that god has forgiven us we should forgive others if he can forgive sinful human beings like us then who are we not to forgive others let us keep these thoughts in mind as we enter into this new week and may we always remember that god's forgiveness is powerful and extended freely to us when we repent and we should never hesitate to forgive others just as god forgave us i would like to remind you that we at the remnant seventh-day adventist church are so blessed by all of you who join with us to worship our god we need your for all this in your name amen and we'll now have the children's story by sue benjamin [Music] so [Music] good morning boys and girls happy sabbath i have rachel rebecca joash clifton and sarika helping me with the children's story today i hope you all will learn something and enjoy the story parents find it hard to explain to some children why some of the music movies books and magazines are not acceptable for them to watch listen or read so this parent came up with an idea to make her children understand she listened to all the reasons they gave to watch that particular movie but it has my favorite actor and everyone including some church members said it was a great movie the language used in the movie is okay only sometimes they took the lord's name in vain and it only happens three times in the movie the uh the plot is fabulous and the star the movie effects are just so good i mean i mean i mean there was a scene you know where people were falling from the building or like people got blown up but the violence is uh normal stuff it's not very bad the young kids told their mother even with all these explanations with their rating their mother would not give in she didn't give them a satisfying explanation but she just said it was a little bit later in the evening the mother asked the kids if they would love some brownies we love brownies she told them that the recipe was from the family recipe book but she added a new ingredient into it the kids asked her what it was and she calmly replied dug poop she said it was only a little bit but the other ingredients were edible and were of good quality she said she took great care to bake these brownies at the precise temperature for the exact time so these brownies would be superb but even with all these explanations the kids would not take them the mother acted a little surprised and said although it was a little element you still don't want to eat them all that explanation in that movie was okay but even a little sin will spoil the whole thing the movie that you wanted to see is just like this brownies satan tries to enter our minds and our homes by deceiving us into believing that just a little bit of evil will not matter with this brownies just a little bit of dog poop makes all the difference between a great movie and a totally unacceptable product and that's why you did not want to eat it right would you be comfortable to take christ with you to watch this movie no now would you have some dog poop movie brownies please you see children how they all moved back when i told them that this was a dog poop brownies in the book of galatians chapter 5 verse 9 it says a little 11 leaveneth the whole lump our sins might look really small and we might think it's okay to commit those sins once in a while but those once in a while is always con it will continue until next time and next time and next time so it is better for us to shut our eyes on our ears to things that life will keep us away from god let's pray dear god in heaven we want to thank you so much for the assurance that you have given us that every time we can come to you no matter what time of the day it is or the night thank you god for all the blessings that you give us and keeping us away from satan please lord continue to be with us and help us to stay away from all the temptations and all the colorful life from this world thank you god for hearing our prayers and answering our prayers in jesus name we pray amen [Music] you know yesterday evening i was preparing four songs to sing today no i'm not going to sing for your sacrificial giving yes yesterday our treasurer center shared with me the the contributions that all of you very sacrificially have done for the month of march and i want to thank you that we were able to meet our set goals for a building fund and also for the other local funds and as well as the tide that you have been giving that goes to the conference we truly appreciate that we would like to thank you for your support for your dedication for your commitment although we have been not been able to meet for more than a year god has been good to each one of us and i want you to know that i ask your pastor i truly keep every one of you in my prayers on a daily basis and the lord has been good to us may the good lord continue to bless you and multiply your resources there is one important special request prayer request that has that some of us have been praying about and it was her name also was read in our prayer list it is our conference president pastor henry fordham's wife sharon she had a major brain surgery that took more than five hours but after the surgery the the prognosis does not look very encouraging so we all have to storm the dose of heaven on behalf of mr sharon fordham as you know for pastor fordham and his dear wife have been a great blessing to this congregation from day one he has been our pillar he has stepped he has blessed us every step of the way he has shown every kind of help to us on behalf of the conference not because of what he has done to us but he's a good friend of the church a fellow bro fellow believer in the lord jesus christ and when someone is in need it is our business to pray so i'm going to request those of you who are here even in your own homes that we will lift up sharon fordham so the good lord would perform a miracle in her life and that she would overcome the physical challenge that she is facing and always keep in mind god can do all things he's an all-powerful god he can do anything and everything and nothing is beyond your reach so here's what we will do for the next one minute each one of us will offer a silent prayer specifically for sharon fordham and after the one minute that i will pray and we will end this season of prayer uh our guardian age of spice of whole four years to come this morning on the holy sabbath day i say join with the host of your children all around the world you know the intention of our heart the bird that you have in your heart you know all about it loving god you have been gracious to pastor mrs fordham all this many years for the years of ministry that they have rendered to your kingdom how is dear wife has stood by him every step of the way to be in the right hand so that his hands are strengthened to move forward not only the leadership of the conference but also in his own ministry loving god we want to thank you that the surgery went well for mrs four and mrs fordham but now loving father has she is facing many challenges i plead with you and i beg you in the best you as i join hands with your children all around the world and even within the four walls of the sanctuary that you look down upon your daughter with tender mercies you being the great physician who can do anything and everything more than what the doctors can do more than what the surgery can do more than what the medication can do i plead with you that you will stretch your healing touch and touch your daughter remove every kind of infirmity that is in our brain so that your daughter will be able to regain complete health and strength and be able to rejoice with you you're the god who created a loving father you know the intricacy of your body and so let me father please i plead with you with the forgiveness of forces that you would touch your daughter healer so that all of us can realize that you are still in the business of hearing prayer and answering prayer so once again with the forgiveness of us since i said join with your children here with the remnant family the extended family the remnant family we prayed with you that you will show your grace your mercy your healing to your daughter mrs fordham now and forever more so humble pray in jesus name amen and amen it's always true god loves our scripture reading for today is taken from micah 7 18 to 19. micah 7 18 to 19 i'm going to read from king james version who is a god like unto thee that pardoneth iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage he retaineth not his anger forever because he delighteth in mercy he will turn again he will have compassion upon us he will subdue our iniquities and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea may god's blessings be added to this portion of scriptures [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] i'm reading from michael chapter 7 and i'm going to read verse 18 that was read to us by molly who is a god like unto thee that pardon iniquity and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage he retaineth not his anger forever because he delighteth in mercy merciful father in heaven with the humility of our heart we call upon your holy name as we open our word your word and as we meditate upon it we need the action of the holy spirit to understand what you have for us from your word and so let me further as we open our hearts and as we open our mind as we meditate upon you but that you would make yourself very real to us take control of our very being breathe your spirit upon the message that has been prepared that it might be made into your season this is a humble prayer in jesus name amen alison thompson thompson is an australian aid worker who wrote a book called as the third wave in the year 2001 she was filming in new york when the terrorists attacked the twin towers in fact she lost 23 of her friends in that tragedy while she was giving cpr to one of the wounded persons right there in new york city she also witnessed the knot tower coming down crumbling down as a result of the attack of the terrorists three years passed by 2004 with 300 in her pocket with a small belongings she made a trip to sri lanka to help the refugees and the camp there because of the the because of the destruction that tsunami had brought in a few has passed by and again with a few dollars in a pocket with a few belongings she rushed to the island of haiti to help the refugee camp people there because of the great earthquake that destroyed more than 65 000 people alison thompson is surely a person who had a great uh earnest desire to restore people as well as the land because that was our cap passion that was a zeal an enthusiasm the since the fall of our first parents adam and eve our god has been in the business of restoring in fact every move every act of god is always geared towards restoring mankind in fact let me go a step further and i would assess and i would affirm on god's god's word based on god's word that the incarnation of jesus christ god becoming man is the pinnacle of his action in restoring mankind because god is in the business of restoring because that is who is that is his character and in ages past god has used prophets he has used human heathen kings he has used natural disasters wars and even pestilence to somehow get the attention of mankind so that he can speak to their hearts appeal to their hearts and bring about restoration joel for example was chosen to do just that that is why in our last meditation we notice how in the first 11 chapter verses of joel chapter 2 joel the prophet and the inspiration of the holy spirit talked about the urgency the imminence of the day of the lord he said that the day of the lord is certain it is true that hell is very real it is true that judgment is very real and so we got to turn our hearts towards god come with me as we very prayerfully meditate on job chapter 2 starting with verse 12 and we'll go all the way to the end of the chapter and allow me to place before you for our consideration for our meditation three distinct ways how god is trying to restore you and me keep in mind god is not merely wanting to restore but is anxious to restore you and me so here is the first important point can you turn your bibles to joel chapter 2 and we will read verse 13. i want to thank the media ministry for really taking a lot of effort yesterday anil and uh and his associate nevin and all were here trying to put things together they had to rewire the whole thing and they have this for the zoom session so i also can see it instead of me seeing all the way at the back i can see it and you also can see it from home and here we have here join with me as we read john chapter 2 and verse 13 and the word of god reads and rend your heart and not your garments and turn unto the lord your god why for his gracious and merciful slow to anger and of great goodness and then he says that and repenteth him of the evil to understand what john is saying in verse 13 we must understand what he said in the previous verses in the 12 verses where he talked about the imminence of the judgment he talked about the day of the lord is upon us he talked about how hell is very real he talked about that god is a god of love but he's also a god of justice and so it is time because god is about to bring his judgment upon the world god is appealing out of love to turn your hearts towards him so that he can restore you here is the first distinctive way the lord wants to restore you and me he wants to appeal to our hearts not an outsourced change but an inward change and so he says god is calling upon for a genuine repentance a true repentance inward change and that is why it says here i'm not interested in rendering your garments but i'm interested in you running your hearts follow me very carefully in israel in in times of sadness it was very common practice for them to tear their ropes cover them with sackcloth pour upon them the ashes as a sign of sadness and and sorrow just like we when we go for the funeral service most of the time you wear black just to share with the with the members who have lost their loved ones the family that we do feel their hurt and our heart is also broken heartbroken we are that is what it is but the lord says i'm not interested in rending your heart i'm your garment but rend your heart why here is the reason daily beloved it is very easy for us to participate in a ceremony religious ceremony and it is very easy for to practice the traditions the customs and follow an outward sign of feeling sorry of feeling sad but still remain not being changed inside that is that is the reason why the lord says i want you to rent your heart i want you to change within not without i'm not interested in external change but i'm interested in internal change because what is in the heart coming through the mouth out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh the word of god declares erin white put it very beautifully in prophet in patriarchs and prophets page 6 30 she said this man's repentance implies change of mind but god's repentance implies change of circumstances and change of relation i'm going to talk about a little later so it is not a change of mind but it is a change of circumstances and it is also change of relation she also further goes on to say in great controversy page 3 11. she said in view of the great day talking about the judgment she says that the word of god with the most solemn and impressive language up is called upon is calling upon his people to arouse from their spiritual liturgy and seek the lord with repentance and humiliation here servant of the lord also emphasized along with prophet joel that god's desire is to restore us and for restoration to take place in us we got to have a change of relationship we got to say no to the devil and as to god that is what true repentance is that is what god's repentance is all about follow me very carefully in the later part of verse 13 prophet joel also gives the ultimate reason why we got to repent why god to read render heart he says in the first part of the verse rend your heart and not your garments and turn unto the lord your god and when you turn to the lord your god you find that you begin to experience god's goodness he says for god is who a gracious god a merciful god slow to anger and of great kindness because he's merciful because he's so gracious so he is so kind and that is the reason you don't have to fear you don't have to worry you can run to your god run to my god at all times because he's willing to receive us and embrace us that's the kind of god that we serve and we need to say amen and hallelujah for that that in spite of our shortcomings he's part of a filthiness in spite of a sinfulness when we run to him and say lord i want you to restore me i want you to renew me i want you to strengthen me i want you to energize me the lord is willing and that is why prophet joel says run to him because he is willing to renew you restore you well my patterson amen surely you are joining hands with us likewise joseph certainly we want to thank god that you are also responding to god's call of resp of giving a heart to him allowing him to make us go through true repentance here is what i would like to suggest to you true genuine repentance is never in vain there's a great reward that awaits you and here is what i would like to emphasize the change of relationship when true repentance is experienced by you and me the end result daily beloved is a change of heart a change of mind a change of attitude a change of priorities a change of your language a change of association a change of your lordship you don't serve the devil anymore keep in mind when you go after the world and when you serve the world and when you're sinful you are serving satan but when i begin to repent of my sins and i experience genuine repentance turn away from it walk away from the circumstances and then i begin to have a new relationship i have a new lordship and that is the lord jesus christ he becomes my god i love the way the songwriter puts it jesus is all the world to me and why and what is the next part of the word say verse says my life my joy and my all that is what you mean by genuine repentance satan is no more your lord jesus christ becomes your lord i'm talking about 24 7 all through the week all through the month all through your life that is the urgent call that prophet joel is giving to you and me today in the year 2021. we are indeed leaving the end of time and there is no time for us to fool around that is why it says stop playing with your life prophet joel says stop messing with your life turn around and make jesus as your lordship and jesus can be lordship only when you say no to the devil and have your clean heart and allow the lord to dwell in us keep in mind our heart can be a resident of only one pop one boss one lordship not two either satan has to be a boss or jesus christ has to be a boss and that is why i read in deuteronomy chapter four verse 29 if you can have that on the screen it says very clearly there deuteronomy chapter 4 verse 29 but if from then once thou shall seek the lord thy god with all thy heart and thou shalt find him when thou shalt seek him with all your heart and with all your soul here the word of god is assuring us if you seek the lord earnestly with all your heart with all your soul you will find him you are not going to be disappointed you're not going to be sad about it you're going to rejoice over it in fact jeremiah chapter 29 verse 13 as to that he says that and he shall call me and find me when he shall search for me with all thine heart and so when we search god go after him remember remember god is the one to forgive sins and for that to happen we must the process has to begin with me i have to repent you have to repent and that is the first way the first distinctive way of the lord wants to bring about restoration in your life and in my life a call for genuine repentance a change of lordship a change of relationship a change of attitude a change of priorities that brings me to my second important way prophet joel is bringing you a kind eternity bible joel chapter 2 and we will read verse 18 together john chapter 2 and verse 18 together and the word of god reads then will the lord be jealous for his land and pity his people then when when i have repented when i've experienced genuine repentance then will the lord have be jealous of the land in other words the word jealous is not being envious but it means that is it takes great pride that becomes his focal point the focus of attention and then he's going to have sympathy i love the way the amplified bible reads he says then will will the lord be be very jealous of his land and then the last party says and he will have compassion upon his people to spare them or to save them when i experience genuine repentance when you experience genuine repentance which is the first distinct way how god is trying to restore you then you begin to receive a restoration in you here is the point that i want to emphasize salvation is individual as such god never restores us collectively in large scale as a family or as a church family or as a nation or as a continent no daily believer he restores us individually specifically it is you and you and you regardless of who we are what age we are of what gender we belong to that is what this second distinctive way god restores you specifically you individually in fact in the original hebrew the text reads this way then yahweh became jealous here's the context that i want to follow i want you to follow here the lord says i'm going to have sympathy for you i'm going to have compassion for you i'm going to be gracious to you i am going to be merciful to you and then i will also be jealous of the land that that because my focal point when because he assumes that you have gone through the process of repentance but unfortunately let me give a local application and then i'll make the the current application talking to the local application the time of joel's time unfortunately the children of israel did not respond to the call of joel wholeheartedly very very grudgingly they tried to follow the appeal the warning the cry of prophet joel as a result god could not fulfill what he had promised in verse 18 to the children of israel fully and completely as a result applying now look to our application making a practical application today now what the children of israel could not receive because they did not fulfill the requirement keep in mind god's promises are always conditional throughout the bible it is not just a blanket promise yes there is a promise but there are conditions you got i cannot live in sin live in rebellion against god and expect god to bless me it's not going to work that way i've got to follow obey and leave that is what the bible teaches and so here you find that the lord is saying through prophet jewel because you did not fulfill he did not repent i cannot give his blessings and so the children of israel did not receive the blessings but certain features of the blessings in principle will be bestowed upon the church today and let me assure you when you use the word church i'm not talking about the roof i'm not talking about the bricks i'm not talking about the carpet i'm not talking about the equipment's here the organ of the piano the church is made up of you and immediately beloved and so we become the recipients of the blessing that the god is promising here in verse 18. that he is going to be jealous about the land and he's going to be jealous about you in particular and he is going to revive you he is going to restore you he is going to energize you that is how the lord is trying to restore us not only bring about an inward change but as a result of the inward change that that we go through the lord wants to renew us restore us follow me very carefully when the lord says i am going to restore you hear the word the lord says to you i know all what you have done you can hide from people but you cannot hide from me when he says i'm going to restore you what is telling you and me is this what is secret to you in your life is not secret to me everything is revealed to me i know all about it he's also telling us that when i restore you what is really saying is this that you can close the eyes of the people but you cannot close the eyes of god it neither slumbers nor sleeps but then here's the good news daily below it he says that once you repent of your sins that i will take your sins and throw them to the depth of the sea or is going to throw so far as east is from the west and that is why i read in psalms 103 verse 12 the great promise as far as the east is from the west so far hathi removed our transgressions from us can you imagine that there is no way with the human eyes i can stand at the east end of the globe and look at the west end of the globe it is just not possible and even in imagination is not it's quite difficult and the lord is trying to drive home the point that is the kind of god that i am that i will take the sins because you're confessed and i'm going to throw them into the depth of the sea that i'm not going to keep it anywhere close by that once in a while i'm reminded of it no i'm going to keep it so far as far as the east is from the west here is a step further the lord appears to show us he says not only will i throw them into the depth of the sea keep them far apart that i cannot even see it so that i don't have to worry about it but i will not remember your sins no more what greater assurance the lord has to give to you and me daily beloved he says that i will remember your sins no more look at hebrews chapter 8 verse 12 where you find the apostle paul says there and their sins and their iniquities i remember them no more the lord says i'll remember that no more a god who can see that is why i read in hebrews chapter 4 13 and everything is naked and open under the eyes of him with whom we have to do the modern translation puts it this way everything is naked and open under the eyes of him with whom we have to give an account who is that person that we have to give an account at the end of your life journey it is god dearly beloved and the lord says you have to give me an account because i know all about it but it's completely naked it's all open but let me assure you says i will throw them into the depth of the sea i'll keep them so far that i don't have to even that there is no chance of me remembering and then he says i will not remember your sins no more he brings about a complete individual restoration that is what god is in the business of doing because you are the apple of his eye if you're the only one who had sinned still christ would have come to die just for you because you're too precious in his sight he created you for a purpose he sustained you for a purpose and that is the reason he has redeemed you on the cross of calvary and then the lord says in luke chapter 19 verse 10 hear me says the son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost when the civil war was coming to a close one of the news reporter approached president abraham lincoln and asked him a very pertinent question mr president once the civil war comes to an end when the southern soldiers are defeated because they were on the verge of defeat how would you treat them without any hesitation abraham lincoln turned to the news reporter and said i'll treat them as though they had never gone away in a world that is so obsessed with getting even in a world that is so obsessed with taking revenge in a world that is so obsessed with egocentric added selfish attitude how grateful we should be that we have a god who is consistently willing to forgive and forget many times when i meet with couples who are having challenges in the relationship one common denominator that i see very often in the discussion the heated discussion that takes place in my presence he's a pastor i'm willing to forgive but i can never forget there is no way i can forget it it's going to be in my mind that is not the way the lord deals with you and me he is willing to forgive you and he's going to be willing to forget in fact the atoning sacrifice of jesus christ the result one of the result is justification the word justification simply means this daily believer that when you confess your sins when you repent of your sins you stand before god as though you have never sinned that's the kind of god we serve as sunny jack affirms with me that's the kind of god that we serve and we worship a god who is willing to forgive a god who is willing to forget because he wants to rebuild the relationship keep in mind the word restore means what to reinstate to bring back to put back to get back to the position or the condition that you were in before adam and eve were first parents were created in perfection there was no sin in them there was no blemish they had face-to-face relationship with their creator and that's exactly what god wants to do in us while we are still in sin and he wants to bring us to a place where he can recreate us and so that we can continue to have that close and face-to-face relationship with him and so god says not only did i come to seek and to save but i want to give you that eternal life that you can leave with me forever and ever with face to face relationship being established and that is why i read in psalms 103 verses talking about how god is such a gracious god wanting to renew us fresh taurus the psalmist says psalms 103 verses 8 9-12 for the lord is merciful and gracious slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and verse 9 he will not always cheat nor will he keep his anger forever and then verse 12 as i pointed out already as far as the east is from the west so far as he removed our transgressions from us isaiah chapter 45 verse 23 isaac the prophet makes a similar i even i am he what does he do that blotteth out that transgression for my sake and will not remember thy sins what an assurance what a privilege for us to regain our relationship with a god god is making this great promise if you confess your sins if you have you experience a true genuine revival genuine repentance i'm going to restore you individually even within a family if you are if you have a father if you have a number of number four four people in your home including your father and your mother and the children he is going to individually every one of you all four individuals will be restored by god that is god's promise to you and it is our business to receive it it should be okay lord please do it now not tomorrow not next week not next month but now because tomorrow is not mine not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow please restore me today that should be our plea and that should be our cry unto the lord and that brings to my third important point here kindly turn your bibles to joel chapter 2 and we will read verse 21 together joel chapter 2 and verse 21 together i want you to follow me carefully and see the progression of truth that you find in these few verses fear not o land be glad be glad and rejoice for the lord will do great things in verse 13 god showed us the first distinctive way how he wants to restore us he wants to restore us by calling us to experience genuine repentance a change of heart a change of mind a change of priorities a change of lordship then in verse 18 the lord said when you have a change of lordship when you make me as your king when you make me as your boss then i'm going to restore you as a person i'm going to be a personal god to you because salvation is personal and i will change you one by one and i'm going to be gracious to you i am going to be merciful to you and i will forgive your sins and remember them no more now in verse 21 he goes a step further not only will i going to restore you as a person as an individual specifically you but i am going to restore the blessings that is why the lord says here the lord says fear not don't be sitting and worrying about what you have done in the past you need to wake up and he says be glad and rejoice that means be let your heart be filled with joy and happiness why because the lord your god is going to do great things for you to clearly understand the need to restore the blessings i want you to realize what the children of israel were blessed with to begin with follow me very carefully as i meditate with you a few things of all the nations that were on the face of the earth it is only to the children of israel that god gave the ten commandments the law he wrote it with his own hands and handed it over to moses and said take it to the children of israel were at this time at the foot of the mount sinai not to the philistines not of the jebusites not of the canaanites not to the syrians not of the egyptians but to the children of israel he gave the law again my friends it is to the children of israel that he made a covenant a god of the universe making a covenant with mankind is supposed to be extra it is extraordinary he didn't do it any other nation he made a covenant only with the children of israel that was a specific blessing only to the israelites not only that of all the nations in the world it was to israel he said make me a sanctuary that i may dwell among them and that is where in jerusalem god allowed solomon to build a temple where the shekinah glory dwelt where people came there to be blessed to receive forgiveness no other nation received it except the children of israel not only that god also gave the priesthood not to any other nation but to the children of israel to the tribe of levite they're the ones who are to be the priesthood they're the ones to offer sacrifice they're the ones to plead on on behalf of the children of israel again daily beloved it is to the israel nation and not to any other nation that he promised a land when he called abraham unto the land of word he said i'm going to make a great nation out of you like the stars of the sky like the sands of the sea and i'm going to give you a land flowing with milk and honey ask let me ask you this question was this promise made to anybody else nobody on earth except for the children of israel and he also gave them the word of god the torah and so they were abundantly blessed compared to all of the nations not they were not because they were mighty no they were very small compared to other nations in fact they were plundered by the assyrians but the babylonians and the egyptians many other nations all took them because of the disobedience but otherwise blessings that god gave upon the children of israel was very unique and it was customary just for them but here comes the truth because of the disobedient act because of the sinful act not only were they taken as captive but they also lost the blessing that god had given to them and so now you can see because you are confessed because you have repented wholeheartedly truly genuinely the lord says i'm willing to restore the blessings whatever that was lost i'm going to give it to you let me make a very practical application daily below it just as god wanted to restore the children of israel during jews time god wants to restore the blessings to you and me today because that is what god is anxious to do he's the same god same yesterday and today and forever his character does not change as i pointed out in the very on outside of order meditation it is his business to restore because that is the very character of god he can stand back and watch his creation being destroyed by satan he doesn't is not going to make him happy his heart aches his heart pains to see you and me sin because you are becoming a slave to satan i'm becoming a slave to saint and that is why the lord says i want to restore you and i want to restore the blessings that you have lost as a result of sin many times you assume we as human beings when we talk about god's blessings usually we think of material blessings financial blessings but i want to assure you there's much more to life than the material blessings god wants us to enjoy the joy of the lord when you make the lord as the supreme leader of your life the lordship of jesus christ is over you you begin to enjoy the joy of the lord that you cannot find anywhere money cannot bite entertainment cannot bite nothing on earth can bite he wants to have the inner peace and let me appeal to the ones who are confined to your bets whether it is babu or emil john or sudha and lizzy and the list can go on and maxwell paul whatever the challenge that each one of us might be going through whether the physical channel whatever it is even when we go through the pain and the hurt the lord says i will give you that inner strength the inner peace in fact jesus himself said my peace i give unto you not as the world giveth that peace that passes all understanding that is the blessing the lord can give to you and me when we are with the lord when he is the lord of our lives when he is our job when he is our life when he is all in all he also gives us the free of guilt and shame many times when people are caught then they're willing to make what appears to be a very genuine confession and immediately the reaction of people is oh he is confessing she is confusing because she is caught regardless of what it is what a privilege that you and i have what a peace of mind that we can have when our conscience is free of guilt and shame because when you and i have committed sin we know because the holy spirit does not leave us it keeps talking to us and we feel the sense of guilt and the lord says i'm going to free you from the sense of guilt because now you are with me i am the lord of your life and i will give you the grace to overcome sin and temptations that is what the lord offers and that is why many times the famous prosperity gospel that is preached very frequently from many pulpits biblically it's not sound nowhere do i find a text that says because you serve the lord that you're good not that the blessings don't come material blessings yes it'll come but as i pointed out life is not merely material blessings but much more than that as i talked about work use of having the whole world and do not have the peace of mind what are you having the whole world and having the sense of guilt and shame he will be the most miserable man you might walk around as the happiest man but deep inside you are wretched and you're rotten there's no peace of mind that is why i said god is willing to give that inner peace the inner joy that he alone can give to you and me and free from the sense of guilt and shame pause pointer reflect god provided no one his family an ark to escape from the flood god provided manna for the children of israel for 40 years god provided elijah a black and most selfish bird and a widow with a little child to sustain him for three and a half years when there was drought and famine god provided an angel to go and shut the lion's mouth so daniel could have a sound sleep in the den of lions god himself appeared in the fiery furnace so he can save shadrach meshach and abednego let me assure you on the authority of god's word that in the last days in the time of jacob's trouble in the time of trouble the lord himself will step in to give us a protection for a read in isaiah chapter 36 verse 13 36 13 what does he say the bread shall be given him and his water shall be sure god that is the promise in fact he also says in isaiah chapter 40 verse 31 they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength why because you are waiting upon the lord you have made god as your boss he has used you a lot of your life and he is going to carry you through in the difficult time that ahead of us if you imagine that things are going to be better tomorrow we are living in a strange land and the word of god is not true things are not going to be as it was things are going to get worse because the day of the lord is at hand and as such the promise to you are immediately beloved in the midst of your pain in the midst of a disappointment in the midst of our health challenges in the midst of all the defeats that we might face the lord says you count on me you lean on me let me be a pillar let me be a refuge let me be your sustainer and he is going to carry you through won't you allow your god your friend your creator your sustainer your coming king to restore you restore you individually and to restore the blessing that you lost because of our own sinful actions in a little remote village in sweden it's a very beautiful church on a mountaintop ice cap mountains all around with high pillars with stained glass windows but what attracts people all around europe all around the world to this tiny little village to witness and to enter into that beautiful cathedral called the mountain valley cathedral is a beautiful organ that has been set up there that has been that has been installed that produces beautiful music and people just admire the music that comes through the pipe organ but one day whatever the reason the pipe organ was not sounding good the sounds were not what there was disharmony in the sound and it was giving wrong tubes and so the the boat called for the experts to come and check it out many experts from different parts of the world came to check on this pipe organ they tried all they could with their expertise and yes they just could not rectify the problem but one morning an elderly man walked up to this cathedral saw the custodian standing at the doorstep he said sir how is that i'm not hearing this that beautiful music from that pipe organ because the villagers enjoyed it and the custodian says sir for whatever the reason it is not producing sound that is in harmony and the old man with queering lip said would he mind allowing me to go to that organ and see what i can do hesitantly he allowed him to go and the old man went there and started working on that pipe organ all day he worked the first day with silence and here custodian is becoming a little anxious have i done the right thing to allow this old man to meddle with this beautiful organ second day he worked on this organ very silently not a word being spoken and nothing happened but on the third day at about noon all of a sudden the custodian could hear the beautiful sound coming out anger out he rushed inside the cathedral looking at the eyes of that old man and asking the question what is that that you did to this pipe organ that the experts could not do that is again producing sound that is so beautiful to listen and to enjoy with a smile on his face again with quivering lips he said 50 years ago it was i who built this organ and today it is i who recreated that music daily beloved in the lord jesus christ it is god who created you and it's only god who can really create you it is only god who can renew you it is only god who can energize you it is only god who can strengthen you for he is the one who created you he knows your mind he knows your heart he knows your challenges he knows your pain he knows he knows your difficulties he is the answer for everything allow him to restore you for he made you and he alone can restore you and so may i plea plead with you as jerusalem sings this beautiful song the goodness of the lord i want you to meditate upon it and it is my prayer that the song would be the sentiment of our heart the cry of our heart because his mercy never fails all my life you have been faithful all my life you have been so so good with every breath i'm able oh i will sing the goodness of the lord for your goodness cometh after me yes daily beloved the god who created you the god who sustained you the god was redeemed on the cross of calvary cometh after you with goodness and mercy and grace because his desire is to restore you so that you can look into his face and say lord this is our god we have waited for him and he will say listen saw the goodness of the lord i love you lord for your mercy never fails me and all my days i've been held in your hands from the moment that i wake up until i lay my head oh i will sing of the goodness of god i love your voice you have led me through the fire in the darkest night you are close like no other i've known you as a father i've known you as a friend and i have lived in the goodness [Music] you have been so so good with every breath that i am able oh i will sing of the goodness of god and all my life you have been faithful my life you have been so so good with every breath that i am able to sing [Music] after me laid down i surrender now i give you everything [Music] is your goodness is running after it's running after me with my life laid down and i surrender now i give you everything is with every breath that i am [Music] of the goodness of god [Music] cause all my life you have [Music] with every breath [Music] of the goodness of god oh i will sing of the goodness [Music] of god amen how true it is daily beloved god's grace god's mercy god goodness after you yes it runs after you because you are the apple of his eye he shed his precious bread just for you do not allow the sun to go down today without you giving your heart to the lord jesus christ make him the lord of your life because his goodness his mercy runneth after you [Music] and now may the lord bless you and keep you may the lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you may the lord lift his countenance upon and give you peace this is a humble prayer in jesus name amen and amen [Music] so thank you for joining us for worship today at the remnant seventh-day adventist church we hope that you are blessed and that the music the prayers the meditation and the sermon were all things that brought you closer to jesus christ and allowed you to see your savior more clearly and as pastor john had mentioned us today in his message that god is calling for genuine repentance not just a call to rend our garments but a call to rend our hearts and the result of true repentance is a change of heart mind attitude and priorities god wants to restore you he says i know all about your life but if you would just repent i will throw your sin into the depths of the ocean and i'll remember your sins no more and finally he says god wants to restore the blessings in your life god says obey and live and don't just be worried about those material blessings but i will give you the joy and the peace of the lord and in times like these and all of us could use that so i hope that this message that was brought to you
