good morning everyone happy sabbath and a warm welcome to remnants seventh-day adventist church i hope everyone had a great week thank you for joining us this sabbath i just want to share a beautiful verse found in hebrews 4 16. i will be saying it from the niv translation let us then approach god's throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need let us then approach god's throne of grace other translations say let us boldly come to the to the throne so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need are there times in your life when you're sad mad anxiety filled filled with worry depressed oppressed other times in your life when you become so frustrated in your life and you don't know what to do hebrews 4 16 beautifully tells us that all we must do is come to god's throne of grace and how do we do that simply by closing or closing your eyes folding your hands and saying god i need your help tell god your problems i don't know about you but for me i'm guilty of this throughout my day when i'm feeling frustrated about certain things about certain events i just try to figure out how to do it all on my own i neglect the fact that all i must do is just pray and god promises in hebrews 4 16 that we will receive mercy and find grace in our time in need and all we have to do is come to him with these words of encouragement in mind i just want to say thank you once again for joining us on this beautiful sabbath day we are truly blessed by each and every single one of you who join us every week if this is your first time health talk i would like to continue about the biggest fruit that god had created us or created for us which is the jack fruit but i'm going to talk about the powder jackfruit powder mainly it is found this fruit is mainly found or in kerala and then it has spread to other parts of india and now it's around the world globe we see that a new study has been found about this green jackfruit how the powder is made in order to reduce or decrease the blood sugar level which is called glycosidine related hemoglobin which is aba1c for the diabetic patients and the research published in diabetic journal suggests that therapeutic potential of green jackfruit powder in improving glycemic control or in type 2 diabetes military patients now this powder is not very difficult to be used or there is no side effect as such that has been clinically proved but it has been used in many places for the treatment of reducing the blood sugar now when you prepare this paint the green jackfruit powder it has got a similar structure that is equivalent to the mashed potato and traditionally it's replaced in cooking and it just also can be used in as a recipe to make cake and cookies and so forth i the bread that you can make in replacing the maida powder which is the processed wheat flour so this has been proved by the clinically that this can be used to reduce the a1c thing because indians do not consume most vegetables and fruits and they depend upon the rice mostly due to the carbohydrates which turns into sugar as you take you can add this powder into your food which will automatically reduce the carbohydrate on turning on into sugar level so as we try to continue this in the days to come we will i'll tell you the different ways how you can use this and also how it can help you in other problems of your health i hope this has been a blessing to you and if you have been blessed please give us the input and let us know how it has helped you if you have been using this powder once again on this sabbath morning with mixed feelings with gratitude that we can gather together in health and wellness and with the opportunity to be able to be in this comfortable church that we're so thankful for and to meet in freedom we're so thankful lord that you have woken us up to see another day another week and brought us to the end of another work week work week for some very stressful and we thank you for the sabbath which was made for us to be able to take that time to rest and to be in your presence loving god we thank you for your sacrifice for salvation that is offered to us and for the privilege that we have to speak directly with you each individual now this moment we come to you all together uplifting those that we have mentioned uplifting the prayer requests and the concerns as well as the silent requests that only you know father there's a lot of things going on in the world and for that reason we have mixed feelings we are also heavy-hearted especially on this day it's been 20 years since that terrible tragic incident in new york but lord it feels like it was just yesterday for some of us we remember very distinctly the pain the loss the confusion and lord it feels like we are still fighting even today in the news we read of constant headline updates and and problems happening overseas people who are always waging war lord we're not sure what's going on but one thing that we do know for sure is that these things will only grow worse one thing we only know is that as your soon coming approaches that things will only continue to happen more often natural disasters lord hurricanes floods we've seen it all these past weeks this past week alone and who knows what's happening that we don't even realize lord on this day especially we remember the families and the loved ones that were lost in the world trade center in new york city we remember and we honor the lives of the first responders who were there sacrificing their own life to save others those who were on those planes that morning those who were on the ground that morning father we still have heavy hearts for that but lord we look forward to the day when we can see each other again when we can ask you face to face god why and when you'll be willing to sit down and explain it all to us we look forward to being united again we look forward to the day when we don't have to worry about turning on the tv and seeing what the new problem is for the day we look forward to the day that we don't have these health issues that we were praying for we don't have financial burdens for all the people we prayed for that we mentioned in the prayer list lord it will all be wiped away and we will be our bodies will be made new the earth will be made new we cannot wait for your soon coming lord as we continue to grow daily as we continue to work to study to play then we never lose sight o father of what our true goal is in life and as much as there are issues and problems and calamities happening all around us on a daily basis may we not forget where our destination is and that is by your side that is looking forward to your second coming o god i pray on this sabbath day that you would bless us and give us a double portion of your holy spirit we leak daily and we are not able to to always act as christians throughout the week we come together but sometimes we don't mirror your character father may we learn daily what it means to be christ-like and may you work within us so that we can be light to others in a dark world bless us this morning in jesus name i pray amen [Music] good morning and happy sabbath to each one of you the great lesson we are today to learn is that we are stewards of god's gifts stewards of money stewards of reason of intellect of influence as stewards of the gods gifts we are to trade upon these talents however small they may be tights and offerings belongs to god and god's rule of giving as expressed in his word excludes no one and it presses heavily upon no one the lord makes a covenant with his people that they should give him their their tithes and offerings according to the arrangement he has made they are his it does not belong to any of us we are to show our accountability to god by returning to him his portion if you do this his blessings will surely be upon each one of us one thing is true we can never give him as much as he has given us we give our tithes because of our loyalty to god and we give our offerings because of a love for god i invite the deacons to come and collect the offering as you prepare to give generously and while the offering is being collected we will be favored by ministry in music by the national language one of the national language of india called hindi language um uh [Music] the sentiment of the song that we are going to sing this morning is god sent his son who conquered death for us [Music] and conquered [Music] the satan who waged war against him and we praise him and we honor him and we gave him all the glory [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] is [Music] is [Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] this is [Music] god we thank you for this day thank you for the life thank you for all the blessings you are shared upon each one of us even though we did not deserve we thank you for your faithfulness for your goodness towards each one of us for unconditional love grace and mercy lying father we left these offerings and tights and pray that they will be used wisely to spread the love of jesus and the gospel of christ to every corner of this globe keep us faithful in jesus precious name i pray amen it's time for the children children's story time will be told by sue benjamin so i invite all the children to come because you have a wonderful story coming up [Music] [Music] do so [Music] good morning boys and girls happy sabbath how are you all doing hi hi what are you guys doing here and blowing bubbles in the church we all three of you don't blame her all right let's see what these girls are up to today okay one day i had to run some errands and asked sarika to babysit her little brother joash you know who sarika is yeah oh okay after a little while sarika began to feel hungry she looked around for something to eat i had kept some nuts and chocolate chips on a shelf in the cupboard and told sarika that she must never go near the nuts and the chocolate chips that were in my baking shelf when i returned i noticed that my chocolate chips were half gone sarika did you get the chocolate chips i asked sarika felt uncomfortable she knew if she told the truth she would be punished but she needed a way out of this mess no mom it was joash she said as always i'm sorry i did i didn't watch him more closely and so i said lied and gotten away getting into trouble she needed a way out and she had found one the lie had saved her from being punished in the next few weeks sarika had no problem to lie she said lies after lies lies after lies to avoid getting into trouble but she never felt right something bothered her because she kept lying one day sarika broke a rule by going to the store during races she was late getting back to class where have you been as the teacher nowhere she said rachel and rebecca giggled because they knew where she was we bet you went to the store they said i did not said sarika i lost my bouncy ball and i was trying to find it was she telling the truth no she was lying again in the days that followed rachel and rebecca began to tell on sarika when she did things wrong she lied more and more and more often and one day all of my troubles she said all of my troubles are because of rachel and rebecca's fault i wish they kept their mouth shut now sarika was lying to herself again because she was lying and they were trying to get her to see what she was doing was wrong right sarika was in trouble anyway everyone picks on me she thought and she felt sorry for herself sarika self-pity justified many things she teased rachel and rebecca and called them ugly names she stole money from the first grader's pocket she copied julie's paper during a test at school and sarika felt more and more unhappy do you think what sarika did was right amy asha erin ayan did she do the right thing no she kept lying and lying and lying right just like you see how they blew the bubbles when they came they were blowing small bubbles they were blowing big bubbles but even if it is a small lie or a big lie a lie is a lie right and you saw them stretch the bubble too and if you keep telling lies and keep on telling lies you can stretch it like a bubble gum and yet you will never find a way out of it until you realize that you are telling the lie and that jesus doesn't like it and no one likes it it doesn't make you happy when you tell a lie right yeah it's always good to be honest it's always good to tell the truth and you may not get punished too much or who knows you may be even forgiven when you tell the truth right okay who wants to pray you want to pray for us no okay you want to pray asha amy no okay let's pray dear god in heaven we want to thank you so much for teaching us the lesson of being truthful and honest please help these children to be always good and tell the truth and not get into trouble thank you god for hearing our prayers and answering our prayers always in jesus name we pray amen [Music] ah you missed the story [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] blue [Music] uh [Music] so amen and amen thank you so much of the different time zones you have taken time to be awake and to join with us you're not watching us but you're worshiping with us you are part of the extended family remnant church and we as a church family we are indeed blessed to have you as part of us and we always sure that you are in our prayers we also would like to thank mona and sunisha for donating church hymnus you will see them in the pews in the next week onwards few of them and we would like to thank them for their generosity in providing us some more himness now on the 17th of this month this coming friday nadine roberts will be going through a major surgery in open heart surgery she is 25 years old she had the first surgery when she was just a little baby born after she had one more major surgery now they're going to redo the whole thing they're going to open up the heart and put new valve and different things i'm not a medical person to get into the details but she's going to go through this in ohio dayton ohio and so we got to keep her in our praise and good lord has blessed her in fact she's going with a very upbeat spirit she just passed a nursing board exam and that was her decision she wanted to complete the studies before she goes for the surgery she was here a few weeks ago here and he talked to her and she's also looking forward to getting married next year so god has greater plans for her and so we as a church family we truly would like to thank god for the miracle that he has performed in the night life of nadine all these 25 years you know there's a beautiful promise in god's word and david here's what it says he was began a good work in you will take it to completion that's the god we worship god never leaves the work and dan you'll never leave us half somewhere in hanging in the air he will always take us through and sabrina if you're watching with us here i'm worshiping with us we want you to assure you of our prayers and so while we bow our heads let me offer a special prayer for needy now god in ages past of hope for years to come this morning we as a church family we want to thank you for the life of nadine for being with us for the last 25 years for the way that you have blessed her for her the way that you have performed miracle in her life for the way that you have helped her to not only graduate from college but also to pass a board exam and as she prepares herself to go for a major surgery again loving father we want to commit your daughter into your care and keep we want you to be the surgeon may the surgeons who are going to work on or may be mere gloves in your hand because it is not the surgery it's not the procedure it's not the medication living father but perfect healing comes from you and so i prayed with you that you would be very gracious to your daughter may she have the assurance that god who has been with her thus far will take it to completion and may she put a trust and confidence in you knowing world you are a giver of good and perfect gifts to your children and so we as a church family uplift your dear daughter that you nadine into your care and keeping please may the surgery go well may she recover well soon and may she be able to glorify your name and acknowledge that you are the healer you are the great physician you shall pray in jesus name amen and amen well during the divine during the sabbath school uh time and also during the prayer people did make mention about this important day today 9 11 where this country is marking the 20th anniversary of the the attack that took place in new york in pennsylvania as well as in pentagon here in washington dc in spite of all that is happening in this country i want you to be assured and i this is my conviction and i know you you you would attest with me that is still the blessed country in the world where is the land of the free home of the brave where we have the freedom of worship i was just thinking as i was preparing the sermon here how much this country has sacrificed and given not just one part of the world but all over the world if only they stop the foreign aid that they're giving out so much our own debt can come down but that is the generosity that the lord has blessed this country with and some of your family members are in serving the army or the air force or the navy and so this is a day we got to acknowledge the great sacrifices that people made more than 3 000 people died on 20 years ago in 9 11. and more than 2 300 people died in afghanistan war because they went to safeguard your life and my life and we came with empty-handed and this country welcomed us in and blessed us and we got to be grateful and it is my prayer that we would not forget the blessing that all of us have received as a result of the goodness of the lord upon this land and so let's not forget that and so it is very appropriate i'm going to ask you all to please stand that we will show our love and our respect to this great nation as to what it has done as i'm going to ask the media people to play the national anthem not a celebration but an attitude of gratitude of what this country has done to all of us in fact right here we have one person just 10 years ago went for an interview and got his green card and he called me after he got it as a pastor i got my my green card rejoicing that is what we all went through let us always be grateful to this country and so let's honor this country of us that god is blessed [Music] you can join in and sing it so [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] amen and please be seated it's always true god loves you happy sabbath church the scripture chosen for today's reading is found in philippians chapter 2 and verse 5 philippians chapter 2 and verse 5. let this mind be in you which was also in christ jesus may god bless this portion of the scripture just right [Music] is me [Music] and the word of god reads taken from philippians chapter 2 verse 5 that lindsay just read for us let this mind be in you which was also in christ jesus merciful father in heaven weak sinful and wrestled we are as we come into your sanctuary this morning as we open your word and as we meditate upon your world washes cleanses purify us so our meditation will bring us a step closer to you please loving father breathe your spirit upon the message that has been prepared that it might be meeting to your season to have a closer walk with you so pray in jesus name amen for a good number of years as i came into this country i was associated with a christian school many years into my association with the school one day one of the teachers for some reason having worked there for a number of years the child in a class was just over hyper so she just stretched her hand and really pinched her heart to the point that there was a mark on the child's body that evening when the parents came to pick the child up there was an approval they came into my office screaming and shouting wanting some kind of an action action to be taken on the teacher so i calmed them down and i told them well we will surely look into it we'll investigate and we'll try to do the very best we can but that did not settle the problem the next day the word began to spread there's a child abuse people wanted to call the police wanted to inform the education department and on and on and so as i called for the staff meeting and i sat with them and talked about it having worked with her having other teachers having worked with her seen the wonderful job that he had done everything went through the window and people began to say mr john you got to fire her you need to get rid of her you got to ignore her you don't just she just cannot be in this campus anymore and then when the teachers the colleagues that had rough shoulders with her became very vindictive she wept she stopped day in and day out for the rest of the few months she was associated with us have you thought for a moment and asked this question why did 9 11 took place 20 years ago why is that bin laden a billionaire whose personal vote fortune was more than 5 billion dollars would resort to such a heinous evil act of provoking 19 in people from saudi arabia to come in here to this country and to cause such so much of pain not just to the families for the whole nation more than 3 000 people died in new york and then few more in pennsylvania and then here right in washington dc and as a result of the war right in afghanistan more than 2 300 people sacrificed their life the war went on for more than 20 years costing more than one trillion dollars why it is all because there was a lack of love a lack of sympathy a lack of empathy a lack of compassion that was the reason why people resorted to that there was hatred deep down in their hearts for their own selfish narrow-minded thinking opinion god realizing the kind of heart that we have as the word of god says the heart is desperately wicked he laid out the ten commandments the declare and if you're looking very carefully beloved the last six have to do with horizontal dimension of a christian living starting with verse 12 he says thou shalt honor their honor the father and the mother so that this may be long upon the land that the lord is going to give to you a blessing dealing not with god but with one another then he says in verse 13 thou shalt not kill verse 14 thou shalt not commit adultery verse 15 thou shalt not steal verse 16 thou shalt not bear false witness verse 17 thou shalt not covet all dealing with human relationship dimensional horizontal relationship in fact when the lawyer came to jesus christ and asked him the question which is the greatest commandment record reference in matthew chapter 22 starting with verses starting with 38 and going all the way to 40 when they try to trap him by asking which is the greatest commandment the lord answered and said and jesus said unto them and said thou shalt love the lord thy god how with all the heart with all thy soul and with all thy mind this is the first and the great commandment and the second is like unto it thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself and then he said on these two commandments hang what the laws and the prophet everything that god has told us everything that god expects of us god summed it up in two great commandments and if you're looking very carefully first has to do with a vertical relationship loving god with all our heart with all our mind with all our soul and horizontal loving one another treating others the way you want others to treat you to love our neighbors as that and this was lacking and that is the reason why many wars have been going on many killings have been taking place even in the name of god even in the name of religion if you consider the various religions of the world you talk of hinduism the doctrine of karma good works rituals ceremonies takes the primary role you talk of islam they talks about how you got to pray three times a day and make a trip to mecca in your lifetime you talk of buddhism you have the eightfold path you talk of sikhism where the men wear the 5ks but when it comes to christian religion daily beloved god laid it out the simple principle that you got to love god and love your fellow man and everything is summed up in that because once they love god my loyalty will be to him my obedience will be to him and my allegiance will be to him and if i love my neighbor i will not entertain any kind of an evil thought or an evil action that is what christianity is all about making god first in your life and when god dwells in you you in turn begin to emulate the character the virtues of god in some small measure come with me as we prayfully meditate on just one verse matthew chapter 23 and verse 23 keeping in mind the nation is marking the 20th anniversary they thought this would be an ideal text for estimated upon and draw some important spiritual lesson that would help us in a walk with the lord matthew chapter 23 and verse 23 join with me as we read this verse and the word of god reads oh unto you scribes and pharisees hypocrites you pay tithes of mint and anise and come in and have vomited the faith here matters of the law and then it mentions judgment mercy and let me stop right there let me also bring in another text from the old testament that drives home the same truth these were the words of jesus of our god to the people around him the same god gave inspired prophet micah to repeat the same message in micah chapter 6 verse 8 where he says he has showed the o man what is good and what does the lord require of thee but you do what justice to allah what mercy and to walk humbly with your god and so you see a great parallel between the three components of truth that you find in matthew chapter 23 verse 23 and you find the same truth found in micah chapter 6 verse 8. these are the three hierarchy of god's command i just gave the part of that as the title of the sermon just to create curiosity in your mind these are the three hierarchy of god's command it says here as he said in matthew chapter 23 verse 23 here is the first component of god's ihaki that god is commanding us to follow to emulate and that is what judgment in king james version is the word judgment but in other versions it uses the word justice and that's what even michaels talks about to do justice to do justice means to be fair in dealing with one another to be honest in dealing with one another to be right in dealing with one another man longs for justice whether whether it is a child or a kid in the elementary school or middle school or high school or in college or an older person every one of us long for justice we want people to treat us fairly and we must treat others fairly and what is more god expects of us due to the justice and that is the reason jesus himself said do justice in dealing with one another because i as your god i am a god of justice i deal with people justly it was martin luther king jr who made that famous speech where he said man must be judged not by the color of the skin but by the content of his character that is what god expects us to do when we deal with one another because our god is an all-inclusive god and since he's an all-inclusive god his heart is opened up to everybody regardless of caste color creed or nationality does not matter to him all are same in his sight as the little children sing jesus loves the little ones like me me and then then says was red and yellow black and white all are precious in his sight god died for every one of us and so this is god's command to us not an option not a choice not at your winston fancies not at all no god says this is what i want you to do you want to be my disciple you want to follow me then you must emulate my character my virtue to do justice and that is how you are above criticism you are above committing sin because if i deal with someone unjustly that means i am not doing what god commands of me that i'm disobeying god's command that's why the commandment one of the commandments the ten thou shall not covet and that means you are content with what you have and not stretch your hand to something that does not belong to you pause ponder reflect look into the ministry of our lord jesus christ here is a god who was quite radical to his time and he was trying to break the wall whether it is ethnic or racial barriers whatsoever ponder with me what is recorded for us in matthew chapter 8 verse 10. here you have the story of a roman centurion a roman centurion not a jew one who worship roman gods comes to jesus and says master my servant is sick would you mind coming home and healing him and the lord says i will and then he realizes limitations he realized that his humility and he said god please you don't have to come i'm not worthy for you to come under my roof speak a word and my servant shall be what healed and look at what jesus says in matthew chapter 8 verse 10 he says and when jesus heard it he marveled and said unto them that followed verily is saying to you i have not found so great a faith no not in israel here is a god here is jesus christ a jew others expected him to confine to to the jewish nation he goes out and embraces a roman centurion and is willing to do the needful for him because god is all inclusive he wanted to show justice not just to his own people but to everyone because he came to die and save everyone look into john chapter four we have the narrative we have the beautiful story of jesus and disciples walking and then all of a sudden he takes a turn and then he goes into the city of sea car meets a woman at the world a woman of bad reputation a woman who was not well respected in the society in the little village and has a great encounter with her and keep in mind there was a great barrier between the samaritans and the jews and jesus knew it very well but still he wanted to show to the world that he came even to save even to love the samaritans and so what does he do he asked offer a water look at what is what she says here in john chapter 4 verse 9 then said the woman of samaria how is that thou being a jew asked to think of me for which i am what a woman of samaria for the jews have no dealings with the samaritans trying to break the barriers because he was the god of the law of the universe of everyone if you come to matthew chapter 15 verse 25 you find that jesus leaves the the land of judea and galilee and he goes to the land of sidon and ty and and entire and there he didn't want anyone to know about it if you look into the scriptural background into that and then somehow the finishing woman comes to know that jesus has come there remember the king james ocean uses the word a cannonite woman and if she's a canaanite woman she was a worshiper of the canaanite gods not a worshiper of yahweh or jesus christ and she comes to jesus says my daughter is possessed by the devil please free her from the bondage of the devil and then what does the lord do if you read the scripture very carefully he says and the lord was silent he never said a word in fact the disciples come to him and said master please send her away because she cried after us the other was she is a nuisance she's troubling us send her away and then she's then finally when he opens his mouth he says well i came only for the lost sheep of israel but look at the reaction on the part of the finishing woman she came because she felt that there was an answer to the problem that her daughter was facing and then we read here then came she and what does she do and worshiped him saying lord help me dealing with the roman centurion dealing with the sumerian woman dealing with the phoenician woman and then he tells the beautiful story of the good samaritan when the lord begins to ask who is my neighbor the lord begins to narrate a story and there again look at the way the lord uses narration parable to drive home the truth that he does not think like them he does not act like them because what they're doing was wrong he did not pick up a jew but he picks up a samaritan and that is why you call that parable as the parable of the good samaritan and says here is a man who was driving from jerusalem to jericho he was beaten up by the robbers thrown on the roadside there comes a priest a pastor who is supposed to be caring and there he sees is somebody who is beaten and he just passes by and then comes a levi one who knew the law one you knew what the law commanded of him to do and he knows what he knew and he walks away and then the lord says then came and if you're looking very carefully if you can have that matthew chapter 15 was then i'm sorry luke chapter 10 verse 33 but a certain samaritan as he journeyed came very was and when he saw him what happened he was he had great compassion what a radical change on the part of the samaritan man compared to a priest and compared to your leader again driving on the point that anyone who is in need is your neighbor that you got to care for one another that is why we represent christian love christian grace and christian character because we are follows of the lord jesus christ god has no hands but our hands daily below it god has no feet but our feet god has no mouth but our mouth god has no eyes but our eyes through him he wants to reflect to the world who he is the question we need to ask ourselves am i emulating this beautiful virtue of doing justice am i being just in dealing with people am i being fair because that is how you begin to say who your god is dwight nelson in his book the 11th commandment makes a very profound observation of what is in existence within the adventist church and of course from the time he wrote the book to the present there has been some changes for good but it is worth looking into what he says while there is no such a thing as white ibm and black ibm well there is no such a thing as white ford motor company or a black motorcam ford motor company there is today right in this country of ours he writes where we have a white advertise conference and we have a black adventist conference and we give a very sophisticated name we call them as the regional conference there are eight regional conferences in north american division today and he says we hide behind this principle a noble principle of separate but equal yes these people are asking for positions they want to hold position of responsibility and do and have the leadership skill being practiced let's create a a conference on their own let them be presidents for their own people but not present it over me that is how dwight nelson puts it as i said today it has changed nothing bringing division is a black the epidemic conference president originally elected is a black so things have changed for good but still back deep down in the hearts of people there is that inequality within the adventist church and that is something that we not to acknowledge and we got to address it and we as individuals we got to make sure that we don't become culprits of that herbert vander lop signed a contract with the land owner and according the contract that herbert would get 40 of the harvest and 60 would go to the landlord they had a great harvest but when it is time to separate what herbert should get he realized that his boss or his landowner was very unfair so he was deeply hurt and so he went and consulted a christian lawyer he said sir this is what happened this is what the country said let me look at the contract he went through the contract and then he says he was able to find some loopholes he said you know what here is my advice to you you've got three options number one kill the crook number two cheat like him number three take the wrong and let god deal with you and him in a world that is unfair a world where his injustice when you're hurt deeply the sound advice is the third option face it as it comes along and leave it in the lord's hand because the day is going to come a reckoning is going to come when each of us will have to give an account to whom to god and that is the reason why ellen white in christ object lesson page 384 she makes a very profound comment and please follow me through if you can have that on the screen christ object lesson page 384 she says this we cannot be in touch with divinity without being in touch with humanity in other words you want to seek god you want to worship god you want to make it to heaven the lord says before you think of doing that you got to be in touch with people horizontally make sure that your life horizontal is good so that you can have a good vertical relationship with me and so she says here we cannot come in touch with divinity without coming in touch with humanity for in him who sits on the throne of the universe what does he say divinity and humanity is combined that is in jesus christ both the combined he was both god and man at the same time he was 100 human he was 100 divine when he was on this earth he was god he was not a dead god he was a living god that is what we as adventists believe based on god's holy word and then she says connected with christ what happens we get connected with the film and how by the golden length of the chains of love that is how we get connected by change of love by being fair and being just in dealing with one another even within the family sometimes there is friction in the home because we begin to choose one child against the other like in the case of jacob and esau we got to be careful in the way we do it even within the four walls of our home because we can give room for the devil to come in and work with us to do justice is the first great command god gives to us again coming back to matthew chapter 23 verse 23 here is the second important hierarchy of god's command first party says what you are you have what you have all looked or you are neglected or you have omitted the vatican matters of the law and first he mentions what judgment justice learn to do justice then here comes the second one the next word what is that to love mercy mercy is also grace both are one and the same mercy is something that you cannot earn it it is undeserved that's something that you don't really want that you cannot earn it now can you buy it or claim it it is something that is given to you and me without any strength attached whatsoever that is what grace is all about is an unmerited favor as ellen white puts it that is what god expects of her to do because we are going to look into that scriptural background god says i am merciful to you and since i am merciful to you you've got to be merciful to one another i inside in his book in the heavenlies tells the story of a woman who attempted to assassinate el ellis queen elizabeth the one of england and so she dressed herself as as a male steward and she somehow sneaked into the palace came to know the itinerary of the queen for the day knowing that at about five o'clock she would come to a certain section of the palace to her important chamber she sneaked inside there and she hid ourselves in the closet behind the ropes literally she realized that the secret service always searched the room before the queen could step into any room and say when they went around when they came to the closet when they began to move the ropes there they found this woman standing behind now she realized that her situation was hopeless and so as she was dragged before the queen she fell on her face prostrated herself and said please show grace to me your majesty the queen was very cold very stern but at the same time she posted a question if i show you grace what promise are you going to make for the future the woman with the heads down was listening to what the queen said and when the queen finished what she had to say see humbly she lifted her face up and said your majesty if grace has any condition it is not grace at all the queen was caught in the moment she realized that what she said it does not make sense then it is not grace anymore and she said i show you grace and there the woman who came to came to assassinator was set free grace is something that is humanly beyond our understanding of comprehension grace is something that we receive not because we deserve it not because we asked for it because it is freely given to you no wonder in the bit news in matthew chapter 5 verse 7 what does the lord say blessed are what the merciful for they shall obtain mercy matthew chapter 5 7. blessed are the merciful blessed are the ones who are going to rejoice happy are the ones who who are merciful to one another let me assure you when we begin to emulate this important virtue of mercy of grace that we will stop finding fault with one another but a flip uplifting one another as apostle paul says esteeming others better than yourself and when we do that we are actually uplifting each other uplifting the church family uplifting the world so that all of us can emulate the beautiful virtue of who god is in fact in luke chapter 6 verse 36 jesus himself declared this he says if you can have that luke chapter six version he says what be therefore merciful for your father also is merciful that's what i said at the outset we are asked to be merciful because we are the followers of a god who is merciful let me ask you this question i know about you i can tell it and tell it openly here if not for the mercies of god i would not be standing here alive for the sins that i committed for the way that i've acted in life i should not be alive but by god's grace by his mercies that i'm alive today and that i remind myself every day lord thank you for your grace and for your forgiveness we got to acknowledge that and only when we acknowledge that there is humility in us and we begin to acknowledge the graciousness of god and that is what we find that's why apostle paul writes in ephesians chapter 2 verse 8 for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is what it is the gift of god and then the next verse verse 9 says that not by works lest anyone should what boast if we were to save ourselves we would be flying in the air even without wings because oh i did it i earned it i'm going to have eternal life we would have bragged about it god knew it he said no i got to keep them humble and so i'm going to make it very plain to them you cannot on your own save yourself you need my grace you need my shed blood i only can wash your sins and so he says for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourself it is the gift of god helen white in thoughts from the mount of blessings page 21 she she has this to say follow me the heart of man by nature is what cold and dark and unloving have you experienced that in your walk in the sin-sick world yes the heart of man by nature is cold it is dark it is unloving whenever one manifests the spirit of mercy and forgiveness he does it not on his own but through what through the influence of the divine spirit upon his heart we love for he first loved us what a mighty god we have a merciful god sinful selfish cold unliving as we are through god's grace through his divine power when the spirit the holy spirit begins to work in us then we begin to extend the virtue of mercy the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace all these comes only when you are in touch with the holy spirit when the holy spirit dwells in you likewise here also daily beloved we can be merciful only the divine spirit is in us only when the divine spirit is in control of us to do justice to love mercy and here comes in the very same verse matthew chapter 23 verse 23 the third hierarchy of god's command to abound in faith for the word of god raise their own to you scribes and pharisees hypocrites for you pay tithe of mint of anise and commune and have omitted the vatican matters of the law judgment mercy and faith hebrews 11 which is called the faith chapter begins with the definition of faith in hebrews chapter 11 verse 1 faith is the substance of things hope for the evidence of things not saying that is what his faith is all about faith is not something that you can cultivate faith is not something that you can buy or earn it faith is a gift from god and that is why apostle paul writes in romans chapter 10 verse 17 where he makes it very clear so then faith cometh by hearing and hearing from where from the word of god let me just expound this text a little bit because sometimes we do look at the surface and just not get into really what the lord meant there what apostle paul had in mind now faith comes by hearing hearing to what hearing god's word here is the truth that we need to grasp it is not hearing god's word or reading god's word that is going to give me faith when it says faith comes by hearing and hearing to the word of god what the bible is really saying is this daily beloved that when i read it i need to acknowledge this is god's word and god is speaking to me and i got to listen and i got to obey then comes faith because just sitting and listening to god's word and with all the equipment that we have gadgets that we have that you can just plug in and hear god's word all day long even when you go for a jogger for a walk and say well i've heard god's word and so i've got faith no just hearing the lord what did he say not everyone that says lord lord will enter the kingdom of god but he that doeth what the will of my father which is in heaven that is exactly what the text says hearing the word of god means listening to god speaking to us prayer is you speaking to god and reading god's word is god speaking to me and so when i open up when i read when i meditate i need to allow the holy spirit to speak to me to convict me of my shortcomings so that i will be refined polished and redeemed and that is why in second corinthians chapter 5 verse 7 apostle paul says what does he say that you shall walk by faith and not by sight here is the important truth that i want you to grasp faith never works in the realm of possibilities faith always works in the realm of impossibilities let me let me repeat myself faith never works in the realm or in the circle of possibilities faith always works in the realm or in the circle of impossibilities if i'm diagnosed with a disease if i have the possibility that i can take care of it then i don't have to exercise faith in anybody including god it is only when i realized that on my own there is no possibility of me getting well there is no possibility of being well or having a better health then i began to exercise faith in the doctors who did the surgery and of all in the god who created me and said lord you created me you know the intricacies of my body and i'm going to surrender my life to you and i'm going to have my faith in you but you are the healer you are the great physician and that is what in life is all about faith always works in the realm of impossibilities it is that kind of faith that the woman who had issue of blood for 12 years when she told herself all i have to do is if i can touch the hem of his garment i'm going to be healed and that faith made a hole she exercised the faith in a person in jesus christ it was the same kind of a faith that the leper had of all the restrictions that were laid upon him he's supposed to scream unclean and clean when people pass by but forgetting every restriction the society had put upon him he runs to jesus falls at his feet holds on to his spirit and says lord if thou wilt thou can make me clean and the lord did make him clean it was faith that made him whole the finishing woman in spite of all that the lord said that was very discouraging even said i cannot throw it to the dog she says even the dogs eat the crumbs for that fall from the master's table and finally she says what so great is the faith of the finishing woman the thief on the cross the penitent thief because of the faith that he exercised in jesus christ while his fellow thief rejected him and made fun of jesus christ the lord could turn to him and say verily verily i say unto you today i'm saying it to you today thou shalt be with me in paradise faith is what god gives you as a gift so that you can exercise that in him and that way you begin to be saved again i'm going to quote ephesians 2 verse 8 for by grace or is saved through faith grace is there but you've got to have faith attached to grace that not of yourself it is the gift of god ellen white has this sustained page page in the book education page 30 something very relevant to what faith is all about and this is what she says there follow me very carefully faith is what is trusting believing that he loves you and knows what is best for your good and then what is it that's instead of our own it leads us to choose his way in place of our ignorance his wisdom in place of our weaknesses his strength in place of our sinfulness his righteousness that is what faith is all about daily beloved instead of your ignorance you are claiming god's wisdom in spite of your sinfulness you claim his righteousness in spite of your weaknesses you claim his strength how do you do it by manifesting this virtue of faith that god gave you as a gift so it has to be an active faith not a dead faith like apostle james says faith without works is what death so it has to be an active faith there is something that you got to do on your on your part because god has given you that gift and when you begin to exercise that then you begin to grow in your relationship with the lord jesus christ because you are built up a personal intimate relationship because you trust him because faith is trusting knowing that he knows what is best for you to you from the human point of view it might it might appear zero worthless but in the sight of god it is precious all you got to do is lord i'm going to walk by faith and not by sight and wait to receive the great blessings that going to come with it that is god's command the third hierarchy to do justice number one to allow mercy number two and number three to abound in faith now let me draw a parallel as i said in my introduction matthew chapter 23 verse 23 and micah chapter 6 verse 8 runs parallel has the same truth in the third part in michael chapter six verses and walk humbly with your god and let me let me assure you if you do not have faith in god there is no way you can have humility in your heart it is because you trust god and you and you say to yourself all of him are nothing of me i am zero but he is my hero then god becomes great and you begin to humble yourselves and that is what the prophet micah could say and walk humbly with your god same as having faith abounding in faith in god and in his path to save you and to take you into eternal kingdom if you look into hebrews 11 almost every verse begins this way by faith abled by faith enough by faith abraham by faith sarah by faith isaac by faith jacob by faith joseph and the list goes on it makes mention of david of samson of barack of jephthah and the list goes on gideon and the list goes on and they're in the hall of faith why because everyone walked by faith and not by sight they received the gift freely and they exercised that gave freely and they've made it to the hall of faith and certainly they will be in the eternal kingdom and we'll have the privilege of seeing and talking to them if it is true in the life of abraham and isaac and jacob and david and everyone else it can be true in your life and in my life daily beloved and so the urge that god makes to us today the plea that he makes to us today is that learn to abound in faith not only you do justice not only you love mercy with one another but also to abound in faith faith in power to save you in the lord jesus christ angela and donnie were high school sweethearts and once they finished the college they got married the very first year of the marriage for the few months things went on very well after six months angela noticed that donny was always acting very tired very weak he could not even lift a chair and if he lifted a chair he would walk maybe a few steps and he had to take a deep breath and you would rest and she was getting a little annoyed is he trying to act or is he really tired and exhausted well when things continued for a long time they decided to go and check up with the doctor so when they walked into the doctor the doctor did a number of tests and when they went back the next day to have an appointment with their doctor to me to the doctor the doctor looked at him and said donny i'm surprised that you're able to walk your human growing count is 4.8 and the normal count is 14. we are amazed that you are able to walk still and then you give them the tragic news you're diagnosed with leukemia six months in the wedding life 24 years of age dreams and aspirations shattered there was weeping there was crying and there was also anger towards god god is this the reason you brought us together to establish a home to have everything shattered and destroyed and so he was admitted to the hospital for three weeks there was an intense chemo that was given to him then he came home and he began to recover and the next two months were good months and then again he was feeling weak and tired when they checked back the doctor said i'm sorry it has come back and the doctor had the sad news you just have few more days to leave and before long donnie passed away and angela had to bury her anger husband for the next few months or years she wept and cried and questioned god but through it all she never allowed a faith to be shattered she clung on to the god and said lord my faith in you can never be shattered because i don't have another plan i don't have anyone else that can take your place there is no plan b and so i'm going to hold on to you because you are the only refuge you are my only fortress you are the only comfort that i have and she remembered the words of a pastor who said angela when god takes something away from you it gives you back threefold tenfold sometimes hundredfold the story has a beautiful ending angela found another young man and she fell in love and they got married and she says he is a precious husband taking good care of me we have a pretty pretty looking daughter the another one is on the way that is what faith can do to you and me in the midst of our challenges and disappointments in our sickness in all that we go through our faith in god can never be shattered and should never be shattered in fact every pain everywhere experience must draw us more closer to god and not run away from god yes it is okay for you to entertain why but you cannot entertain that god does not care you cannot entertain the thought that god does not allow me you cannot allow that to go through in your life daily beloved even the ones who are worshiping the live broadcast mary as you watch with us as you worship with us here i know bob bobby has been going through for years he's not able to talk he's not able to open his eyes but i want you to cling on to god because he is the only source of comfort and strength and it is my prayer as we step out of this house of worship as we face a new week an unknown and uncertain week that we will learn to do justice to love mercy and to abound in faith in the god who made you in the god who is coming back to take you so i'm going i don't know what closing song i put but i as i was preaching that this thought just came we are going to sing this and trust and obey for there is no no other way on the thought of god's word let me assure you yes there is no other way trust and obey it's a long song david will sing the first and the last answer of this song trust and obey closing him is 590 590. [Music] the first and last verses [Music] hey uh [Applause] oh we will see is [Applause] the song that we just sang is the sentiment of our hearts we want to trust you and obey you for there is no other way help us oh lord to make you the master of our life every second every minute every hour every day every week every month every year that you're going to give to us because we want to be faithful to you and be found in your kingdom and now may the lord bless you and keep you may the lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you may the lord left his countess upon you and give you peace and all god's people said in jesus name amen [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] thank you for being part of our service and we hope we were a blessing to you what a timely message we have just received through pastor sargent john as christians the most important thing we can do is to follow the sum of the ten commandments which is to love god and then to love our fellow men there are three things that god requires of us the first is to do justice we must be just just as jesus was he was fair he loved others no matter who they were their reputation or where they were from the second is to do mercy god is merciful towards us and because of this we must be merciful to one another god's mercy is something beyond what we can understand it is freely given to us who are undeserving each of us including myself especially has been recipients of god's unmatched mercy finally we must walk in faith we are not saved by works in fact our works and our righteousness are like filthy rags compared to god's righteousness our good works are a result of the faith that we have in god it is only through faith that we are saved as we go throughout the sabbath and the upcoming week let us keep these thoughts in mind and remember that we should do justice do mercy and have faith in god [Music] we thank you for your continued prayers and financial supports the remnant ministries here at this church it is because of your continued prayers through these years that we have been able to function if this ministry has been a blessing to you we would like for you to continue supporting us through your prayers and giving the grace of god has been good to us especially over this pandemic and we can't be thankful enough to him for leading us in this ministry we'd like to share this sentiment with you by making you a part of the media ministries here at the remnant seventh-day adventist church we thank you for supporting us in the past and the president and we hope you will still continue to lend us your support in the coming future thank you to each and every one of you for going with us for your love and support in making this ministry possible and we want to hear from you let us know your thoughts there are so many people who joined with us today we had merit go bessie from ethopia dao taylor from saskatchewan canada phillip holder from barbados mary a seraphin from massacot juanita swan from the islands of turks and kaikos esther singh which is our member georgiana charles from martinique karen roberts from carroll springs florida joseph surly from texas sanatan raksha from pune india ponzi from nairobi kenya ruth richmond from new jersey linda grubbs from colorado morris and suniti madhu from pune india jonas kamar from mumbai india yvonne hernandez from philadelphia pennsylvania prabhav varghese from manchester united kingdom rita chavon pradeep surenjen from bangalore india [Music] from long beach mississippi soja soju from trivandrum kerala india reflan daisy lolong panice from indonesia art gonzalez from british columbia canada raphael suleiman from philadelphia pennsylvania alum gear khan from salisbury park puna india mitchell suraj from trinidad charlotte mcneil from cape town south africa beverly bramwell tatiana rush barbara hayes sadie murhead rosaline john tracy wells jasmine cumberbitch reggie wells victoria miller and jonathan graves we thank each one of you for joining us as well as the many people that whose names i did not get don't forget to join us this evening for our praise and prayer service at 5 pm where we can fellowship with god through our praise and offer prayers up to him until then god's blessings and our love
