all right so today we're going to react to polyphia and you notice we have a new new guest here hello because uh Chris retired from the reaction game but we love Chris anyway so polyphia so you haven't seen this video yet right this is Greg by the way I've never seen it I've never heard this band I've heard of them you've heard of them yeah they've been out for a while but I don't know anything about the metal I've actually seen bits and pieces of this but I wanted to get your reaction because I know you're a guitarist and you'll have a some interesting perspective so we hope so yeah let's get it we'll get it started here get our chocolate and stuff yeah accoutrement chocolate [Music] thank you [Music] so what do you think about Centro so far uh that was wild I like their shoes yeah yeah and like a Megadeth Vibes yeah yeah the old school though the white high top sneakers yeah pretty cool but then do they always play with this technique they're like almost like a bass technique like popping or something yeah I don't know they got acoustic sort of semi-acoustic guitars yeah it's this weird like thumb thing yeah clearly uh technically proficient players and they're doing I don't know what that move is called when you were talking about that yeah yeah you got it on base a little quick slide where it almost sounds like a Trill yep I can't pull that one off so that's pretty cool but it looks like look at this room they're in yeah like what's what's going on I know like it's afterlife [ __ ] way cooler than our room it's much brighter yeah more lighting rig needs work I like the archways anyway it is cool [Music] it's so weird yeah he's just chilling in this amazing Throne like he's just the prince like yeah um yeah it's a weird blend of in the aesthetic of like modern and then sort of this old epic medieval fantasy is what I'm kind of yeah yeah right but with super modern and he's just wearing like this sweater and stuff great tattoos yeah it's cool like the whole like hammer on stuff that they're doing yeah but it's a pretty like almost like poppy progression though right yeah yes it is it's kind of like catchy almost yeah that style is uh very modern I guess you know yeah is it I don't know a lot about the modern like guitarist I don't either you know I've seen some stuff on YouTube I like my old school stuff as you know yeah but uh yeah it's pretty it's like the next next wave yeah it's tight but yeah I don't know and like the staccato kind of stuff yeah not a lot of open yeah anyway yeah yeah it's sort of got a delicate intro maybe I'm wondering if it's about to get super heavy judging by the sort of the sort of guitars we got going on and stuff yeah it's kind of building already they went in the acoustic to the election just the Epic nature of the video but you know yeah it's uh yeah let's keep it going [Music] thank you there's a lot of like that Soulful kind of playing in there right yeah between all like the speed there's that kind of like yeah I feel like I'm rising like Prince or something that like Soulful okay it's kind of it's Poppy but yeah it has that popular band playing really technical pop but you're right yeah it's opposition the chord progressions behind the technical like arpeggiated stuff they have like uh very almost pop very melodic pretty chords yeah maybe that's why that appeals to more a wider audience it's actually pretty smart yeah so put that over like I have no idea how how big they are or aren't yeah they're pretty popular now it seems like good production on this I mean I've heard of them so they must be big yeah yeah but this guy this other fella with the uh the black guitar there said um I forget what those are called but it's like um shock from Death I think played that guitar oh yeah yeah yeah it looks like that body shape those are cool really yeah it's awesome shape but and that looks like a diamond is there's a lot of ibane and stuff it's just you know they could all they're all Ibanez yeah but it's such yeah that modern now I'm thinking of like the Apple store with the all white and like it's like this modern style and like in the Apple Store I feel like I'm in the Apple store with the sweaters yeah what do they call those the Geniuses yeah the tech nerds but these guys don't look like nerds I don't know no they're pretty cool all right here we go here we go [Music] [Music] for a second that's cool how that opens up there it got heavy it's still and it kind of opened up like yeah you had less of the staccato and more like yeah big chords but same progression though pretty much right yeah um and they got wildly camera angles too right we got some different scenerys yeah it's a really cool video I like way more movement in the in the video but yeah it's such an interesting Just Vibe of like this chair that we're looking at right here it's like these three yeah and that cool Warehouse yeah Warehouse that light is always thrown and yeah Angelic white light kind of thing going on everything's clean it's just like we have our wishes um yeah and then uh I noticed some black nail polish on one fellow there that's pretty good that's good you know yeah I was jealous I mean yeah they're both incredible players too which is cool they are yeah because now you're seeing him play more like like the other guitars that's true they're both shredding you know and I didn't doubt it when I saw him yeah I knew I knew that the jams I mean business yeah all right we keep going [Music] what do you think of that weird drum tone I mean I guess we're getting yeah stuff borrowed from pop right yeah that's what it sounds like dubstep or something yeah or more um like digital drum sounds mixed in or something yeah so you could be triggering stuff for them you can like you know you're gonna be able to like move to that more easily right yeah it's kind of cool yeah the drumming approach is very unique I think right it's very sort of like playing around the beat kind of not a lot of Street yeah it's definitely got like okay not probably Rhythm it's kind of offset and you know a lot of uh unexpected kind of moments going on yeah very a lot of detail yeah it's interesting the the approach with the drumming [Music] on the um the front of the kick drum he's got almost like a metal plate now he's wearing a sweater yeah oh yeah yeah wow that is cool that's it does look like it's like embossed or something neat yeah I keep I'm so distracted by all the visuals it's a great it's a beautiful tension of the chords video the way they filmed it yeah yeah well they got that natural light with the windows open the opposite of what we have needless to say [Music] all right foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] if you want to say anything about that previous part my head was going to like video game music yeah that's what I think too like almost like a prettier I guess like a Dubstep video game yeah yeah like a lot of stuff happening like a we also refundled earlier the sweaters were not enough for the outdoors yeah now the roads are full on jackets it looks cool though I like this on top of the roof here yeah yeah this this music was like bound this style I feel like was bound to be made yeah right you know what I mean like Yeah from the video game stuff yeah that stuff and and just the where guitar playing through these days with the shredding you're right it was like pop music and they're just all different sub genres bleeding into each other it's like I should have seen this coming you know and that's interesting observation wrestling job they're doing of it yeah yeah I mean killer players I think we got different sneakers too yeah we went to a doctor still some like yeah this with this fellow but bass player I don't know who's what's this guy's name sorry but I don't know where they're from either do you know where they're from or like they're definitely like American I think huh but keep going [Music] in the throne that's badass I forgot I know like when's he gonna come in on the um that was insane that intro but the light the sun behind him [Music] [Applause] blue covered [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] yeah that was an epic solo yeah because it kind of like brought a different flavor totally like I thought it was gonna like be shredding and like it's more he's you know he's over it man he's done it all before he's like I'll take the tasty Solo exactly it's gonna build it up but good for him though uh you know keeping up with what's going on in the yeah it's a shredding guitar yeah it's cool we got him into it you know yeah that's awesome they really played it out too that was very epic yeah yeah they saved like this big expanded uh cityscape shots for like for Stevie to him but man still got to move I feel like I know that guy you know I think oh yeah we grew up with him yeah watching them yeah I've seen interviews with him and stuff he's just such a he's an amazing musician yeah he used to transcribe all those episodes I know yeah insane that might be the most impressive thing oh my God and he was like 19 or whatever when he did that yeah yeah he said he played with Zappa at that age yeah yeah let's go back to that cool dropper [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] yeah these guys are having way too much fun playing guitar together right now that's awesome Steve I man he's just like killing his best life he's yeah this is what he should be doing you know yeah it's awesome yeah they're killing it's great to see him it's just a shred-a-thon yeah but it's like catchy too right yeah it is it's totally it's like Melodies sort of there too which is cool yeah absolutely it's a very kind of like a Soulful pop thing with this like shredding yeah yeah and then when you get to that like seventh chord they'll do like the diminished stuff which brings us back to like yingbe or something like that they're putting a lot into this like I need to I would have to like go through a few times to like tune my brain into like yeah there's a lot happening what what the different like chords and cadences and everything are yeah but it's pretty much just been that progression right if you I suppose they're like it's just variations on this progression which is cool but I think that's what sort of hammers it into your head too like the melodic because you keep they keep doing this progression which is yeah and then build it dynamically and such and just break it into different yeah Parts it's interesting keeps it's like obviously into it evolving yeah but still I'm wondering about the uh the back of his guitar neck there it's got the two oh yeah it's like seven seven strings or so I mean maybe those well I have played a seventh string at once but I don't know much about them but maybe I mean it's like a double trust two trust rods maybe why do you do a more stable I guess so yeah um because I don't know a lot about that I don't know that's like I think they've made this on like strats and stuff that's how they install them right and they don't like a Gibson I think it's before they put the fretboard on I could be wrong but yeah I'm wondering those those wide neck guitars with seven strings eight strings to have two truss rods probably interesting that's for the Nerds only nerds care about this yeah I'm sure people will comment below there would be some nerds watching yeah [Music] foreign the coziest band I've ever heard well because of the sweaters look at this picture of that man yeah no it is cozy Cottage core what are they called yeah these kids are in the cottage core man yeah Cottage core and neck tattoos is their thing it's cool yeah what was what was with the trumpet just being that bit at the end yeah I don't know about that was that a mess though I don't know what happened there I feel like we saw the extended version or something like here they tried that didn't didn't work maybe I don't know it just felt like a weird tacked on thing yeah it sounded good but it was like it didn't take us anywhere new no I agree I don't know if you need a place yeah I don't know if you needed that right yeah that was probably my one I mean downside I mean it's hard hard for me to critique these guys could play circles around me all day but it's pretty cool as far as my my read my fresh read yeah I think it was an interesting combination like we said of different styles like the shredding thing but also the pop thing to make it more accessible and then like then like this video game short attention span thing yeah yeah it was like a perfect storm of like you said of this to happen probably yeah with all my influences coming together it's just very of of the times maybe but it's nice to see that shredding has a place in that yeah yeah of course yeah you know um and it's cool it was sort of a nod to the early shredders by bringing by and you know yeah that was very cool I'm curious like who most of their fans are if they you know if their fans are people who are yeah Steve I or not you know or maybe a lot of people heard it and they don't know who Steve Vai is and like yeah that's a good question is it mostly musicians that listen to this or yeah that's a great question I guess you've comment down below if you have any insights yeah I mean are they playing this in the club or people dancing who knows me no but they're playing pretty big shows I think yeah yeah I would think they're pretty big now yeah yeah I mean this has like how many views I forgot what it says but probably like Millions right has six million views holy crap so people are heavily into this yeah that's big yeah and that's bigger than just it can't be just guitarists then this is gonna be like yeah how many how many guitar players what was the last poll how many guitar players do we have on this planet yeah we're kind of late to the party obviously six million already so yeah hey let's check it out we we should ask you know the viewer what they want us to react to next yeah yeah what's a good good thing so leave your suggestions down below it could be anything any style of music right I guess so are we trying to stay away from Old School metal because we're already so familiar with it an old rock and roll and stuff no I think we could still react to that kinds of stuff you know all right cool yeah maybe we could react to things with each other like something you don't know or I don't know yeah we'll do that maybe but yeah leave some comments below if you have any suggestions for what to react to all right well that's a wrap see you next time
