Polyphia - Playing God (Metalheads React)

stool I'm still on the stool oh we've switched sides too don't get confused yeah guy on the left yeah anyway so yeah we really like that other polyphia song so we're gonna removing the mic we're gonna check out this one I don't need this right now there's no way I'm gonna play what I'm about to hear based on what we heard last time yeah yeah so what are you expecting I don't know I'm curious to see how this maybe differs from the other song yeah or I'm sure it's along the same lines obviously but we're expecting some pop chord progressions right and some shredding guitars yeah yeah well I'm wondering if it's going to be a little heavier that one could be people in the comments we're saying they have stuff right and I think the earlier stuff was heavier okay it makes sense because they have like Very Metal right instrumentation and stuff but it's very powerful yeah yeah exactly yeah we're not sure like what the where this happens in the album either like order Wise It's the Same album yeah yeah okay and I know that other track was the last track on the album from what people said right so yeah let's check it out we're ready here we go [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] okay so starting once again well this time looks like they're sticking with the semi-acoustic stuff yeah because the other one kind of started with that then it switched right away does this guy have nylon strings too the other um guy with the sort of like mullet type yeah what's that Spyro is that Sonic the Hedgehog I think he had nylon string yeah it doesn't look like it in a shot like a classical guitar let's back it up a little bit but but yeah the same same kind of thing as the last one also similar with like a stately this is even more this is very stately but um yeah like a pig yeah the cold room you know here we get this cool thing in the back ceiling face yep a lot of a lot of light and everything kind of like it's a little like imposing I feel like yeah pretty cool cold again too right we got like long sleeves like it's a cold looked or video and then actually yeah they're like always wearing jackets and sweaters and stuff that's true yeah I have to stop saying yeah I guess no [ __ ] that let's go back a little bit [Music] kind of cool Jazz stuff happening there those chords yeah and even that chromatic line he did there too on the guitar I really like the chromatic line it's almost like a gypsy jazz thing yeah classical yeah yeah I mean look at the headstocks on those guitars too it's like a classical yeah it is like a like I said nylon string classical guitar let's go back to this better already yeah yeah let's go back I want to hear that chromatic thing again that was badass [Music] thank you yeah so the drums seem to be a similar approach to the last one that kind of my head hasn't gone all right yeah it's got a lot of splashes remember you said you want me to do splashes on the song action yeah I love that yeah me too I'm great for all those accented yeah yeah a lot of like shorts I think he has like a stacker like the short symbols sound kind of I don't yeah it's cool you stacked like two symbols on each other and you get like that it almost sounds like a hand clap yeah I like that kind of stuff yeah yeah okay yep excuse me [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah there's something at the end right like a tag at the end [Music] yeah that's pretty much it so it's similar to the other song in that it's just like a descending thing again right something like that yeah I think it is yeah so I'm wondering if it's going to be that same progression too um yeah like the last one it was last time yeah and I think the last one also ended like a major chord classical that's true yeah yeah like the five chord and that's really juicy stuff to play guitar solos on oh totally you know so because you can go into the diminished two right at the five yeah like yeah but this one's even more yeah a little when I got that dark classical thing yeah like [ __ ] Jazz perfect the only thing that's hard for my ears is that like there's so much compression on that classical guitar in this uh it doesn't sound like really I mean it has to be kind of for what they're doing but it's kind of that like squash zone I'll have to listen more closely to that yeah but I think you have to compress it a lot to get get it to come up level wise you know okay with the yeah but you'll notice like it's such a [ __ ] and everything yeah it's a really strong like compressed sound that makes sense which kind of to my ears because they're like producing and stuff is like it's a little I don't know check it out [Music] thank you [Music] but I think too it's like an effect almost if you think about it for what they're doing didn't bother me yeah it sounded it kind of works maybe with that drum sound because it's kind of like making it less natural in a way oh right it's not like a natural guitar classical guitar sound you know what I mean it's kind of like its own thing which is interesting should we go let's go back a little bit [Music] that's cool that's a cool Austin Auto thing yeah the chords are pretty much they're just varying in now with like that Asana there yeah it's the same it's it's a formula that yeah it's a similar formula to the first we're almost halfway through yeah yeah building acoustic now and Rings yep unbelievable licks and a lot of Melody a lot of Melody declining between yeah I think that's yeah their approach is very a lot like super melodic but it's almost not a there's not really a strong lead line single Melody that's um that's true like thematic I mean there's no like theme really right right besides a chord progression or maybe it is kind of interwoven in there but it's not gonna be obvious to the listener but that's cool because it gives almost that raindrop sound if it's going in a much different direction full effect of that but there's lots of Melody within it do you think it's going to get heavy feels like it's not it's not like but maybe it was yeah that'll be a surprise yeah imagine I'm just doing the same progression and getting heavy again and layering you know go somewhere else maybe I'm curious to see where it goes at this point yeah let's see where it goes [Music] wow so yeah they kind of went even more popular and more like a sharp nine are you here like a sharp nine chord you know like the Hendrix chord I like the yeah yeah that and then they go up one up a half step get them back down yeah it wasn't it kind of like that yeah it was minor yo let's check it out but yeah it kind of get jazzy there [Music] or some kind of seventh chord you have some kind of but this is more not even like more r b ish right I would say let's try that one right yeah so he's got like a minor yeah and then I'm hearing this instead of the Hendrix one yeah yeah yeah yeah maybe that's a change change in the progression yeah it's cool if they did that change we had classical and jazz gypsy jazz kind of Vibes and now we're going like yeah they kind of hinted at it which was cool yeah that's cool I like that like foreshadowing guy and that inlay just catch that inlay on his guitar yeah the Steve I had the one yeah yeah the Tree of Life whatever that is it's like Thorns that's cool I didn't notice however yeah I've never seen that that's cool oh yeah this is with thorns it's whistling in there too [Music] foreign [Music] yeah I like where this went kind of yep it didn't go to as predictable place that was cool still have like a white room though huh just like the last one yeah Big White Room well maybe that people have said that that's sort of like the ego thing the white represents death or something yeah that's cool that's the death of the ego whatever I go that's kind of zamboo this thing right I mean we haven't heard any vocals yet I don't know if there's um I don't think on this track yeah there is on some right yeah I think the dude from Deftones it seems interesting just through the videos they've kept it consistent concept like a theme yeah concept yeah true let's go back this this whole sequence is just like it's like crazy I'm thinking of like the seductive scenes like in like comedy movie stuff you know what I mean yeah yeah like Garth algar and Wayne yeah go we already got yeah yeah or something yeah yeah all right damn we got a sexy side yeah yeah sultry yeah I'm sure they're gonna come in chandeliers [Music] but just shredding just shredding I know it's just funny in that spot though [Music] that was cool that like [Music] so you somehow figured out how to combine like Smooth Jazz with like shredding which I don't think has ever been done they're just nailing it yeah and whatever it is they're trying to do they just have they just have been balanced perfectly yeah it's really interesting it's like putting their spin on this a different type of sound but it's still them you know yeah it's impressive smart very smart let's go back today doing some cool things there I did want to hear that yeah we're gonna keep rewinding because we're like musicians but sorry [Music] foreign [Music] element to it right it's kind of they're kind of with the whistling and stuff kind of a Melody there with the whistling and stuff right yeah let's listen to the bass behind yeah I'm not even sure that I think the progression the chords have even changed since this it's like major seven chords yeah yeah you think this is a new progression now or just I'm not I'm not sure that uh we heard that Jazzy section yeah yeah stuff happened to me to follow the chord progressions with them which is ridiculous because it's a lot of a lot of it's simple some of it's simple but this one's a little bit going on on top of it that I actually like I'm so distracted that there's actually a lot more going on in this one than the other one for sure like musically with the chords yeah with the chords and with yeah with everything I think yeah so that's I like that that they kind of getting more ambitious in this one I feel in some ways the last one even the really shreddy parts were like I remember one big shred run uh the dude did with like the longer hair let's see right these crazy triplets but it was very scaly really sure run or this is like very worked out yeah there seemed to be a lot of like stuff skipping stuff and like during skipping yeah and but just specifically but check out these lamps they're like the birds yeah that's pretty that's pretty awesome yeah it's a really nice or something really interesting time they go after yeah with these interior spaces and Extra Spaces yeah the Symmetry in this and they're it's not totally symmetrical it's so casual like in the last one too they're like they're always like he was in a bed in this one yep and the last one he would be in the throne but it's kind of like you know I know I slumped over like no big deal just shredding yeah yeah and they're doing the same thing just like not difficult for us great sultry Welcome to our sultry layer of cheetah print blankets oh man here we go [Music] it's like r b ish type progression has [Music] so that's it that's not me so yeah what'd you think of that I like it better than the other one um ego death yeah I think the other one was like flashy and like the Steve eye stuff was cool but I think this is a lot more like happening in this one musically and um I like that it doesn't get super heavy it's just sort of but they do change direction it seems more eclectic but they're still making it their own which is cool okay on them yeah we'll see you guys on the next one get off Milan also like And subscribe because uh we're supposed to say
