Playing Sonic Boom so you don't have to

hey chat i should probably do an instrumental now if i'm gonna talk uh let's let's do a rooftop run that's kind of a banger yeah we'll just do that yeah all right chat are you guys ready for sonic boom we're continuing the series uh because i after last year i just want to make more content this year so that's my plan you guys liked uh ballen wonder world so you don't have to jump for so you don't have to and i thought about sonico 6 but i feel like that is a bit of uh like let's save it that's you know let's the channel's dying in case of emergency break glass a sonic go six but you know what we're gonna play sonic boom and uh you know what i'm gonna talk for a little whoa chat hello i wanna i'm gonna put it right here behind me that's what i want i'll probably go down a little bit too uh oh whoa whoa whoa whoa i thought i would just you know like have this screen open when i'm just like talking to chat you guys just chilling behind everything's fine um yeah what i do think is funny is that like this green screen is also fake it's not it's just there for decoration um so why am i stalling you may ask uh it's because it's not finished downloading yet but it'll get there so uh what's everyone doing in the next two minutes i'm gonna turn my volume down but i am pretty excited to play through this game because uh i have actually i have never beaten this game before i i've started it like two or three times but i've never finished it or we got even close to it i think i played it once with friends in co-op in college played for like three two three hours uh played like an hour of it for how to play sonic boom 101 then i played another hour of it when i made like a halloween video like a year later um yeah sonic boom is like a pretty bad game just because sonic boom is like boring you know like sonico 6 is funny because it's like broken and that's why sonico 6 has like the the cult cult following it does people like sonic boom no they don't like the thing is who talks about sonic boom like no one talks about sonic boom like that's the thing and i want to i want to start that conversation because i don't really know anything about it um i know the show is good but that's not what we're reviewing today well you do the knuckles glitch uh is it just as simple as double jump pause double jump because i made sure not to update the game so we won't have that luckily but i like playing bad games a lot oh and it just finished downloading and now it's installing which i didn't know was part of the process oh okay uh-huh i guess i'll i'll come in here i'll put chat right here so i definitely started stream expecting to just boot up like stall for a little bit boot up the game i see so something else i think is worth noting is that i my wii u broke like towards the end of the smash 4 era right before ultimate drop so i never got a new one because i didn't really need one so um i bought this wii u used and the the username on it was a little rick and the nintendo id was ricky the beast 41 i think ricky the beast and the the me looks egregious don't worry and i i i bought this wii u because i was like ah i just want one lying around and it came packaged with sonic boom which was very fortunate but what's crazy to me is that this game doesn't work on this wii u uh i put it in uh if you see right here it says uh peggy 7 because it's it's a this is a european copy of sonic boom packaged with an american wii u and it's region locked so it's like why little ricky why'd you do that i i don't i don't understand why that happened but uh so i had my own copy of uh sonic boom uh my friend gave it to me for a birthday 33 minutes all right so we're gonna stall for 30 we're gonna stall today anyways so uh for my we're not playing this today um yeah i just got palled i don't know why this is a european copy giving away a european copy of sonic boom but also my friend matt for my like 19th birthday uh got me this which is a custom drawn version i'll cut to this real quick uh he drew this and gave it to me for my birthday and i still have it to this day and i think this is incredible but unfortunately the disc was scratched so it it wouldn't load um but yeah i think this is a really good art uh there's better art on the back i i think this is one of the best birthday presents i've ever gotten and i just wanted to make sure that everyone's seen it sonic bam song words and then all the characters look incredible i think it's really good i really like sonic on the back at the bottom that says eat vegetable that might be my favorite part of it all uh you have big stuff adventure bam i don't know what that one says bam laser dog every 10 out of real real quirky humor but this is uh what i got when i was uh this is a good birthday present why is knuckles orange uh he probably didn't have a red crayon if i had to guess that's that's why i'd have to guess um and just by stalling a little bit i feel like it's only been a couple minutes but only 29 tc is going down exponentially ah yeah yeah i've been i've been streaming a lot lately i just had time lately i guess i'm doing less editing so i just get to be on camera more and i'm honestly i'm having much more fun with it than i thought i thought i would just be bored if i wasn't doing anything but um yeah 16 minutes i can do this i can do this easy um yeah we'll play sonic boom in a little bit and um eat vegetable yeah oh yes 17 minutes chat i guess i'll just hang out and talk while we wait on sonic boom because i don't really know what this game has in store i feel like this is the one sonic game where no one has anything to say like no one said anything good and no one said anything bad this game has just kind of existed i'm gonna i'm gonna put the subtle wii u music in the background here it's just people just let this game exist i know some people have played it but i know most haven't i'm i'm in that camp i s yeah so i have two copies of sonic boom and i can play neither of them so that's that's where i'm at um people have like this game has to have something funny in it i just feel like i don't know anything about this game i just know that you play as sonic tails knuckles amy and i know you guys i have to find it i have it on my laptop here let me check to see if this video is still uploaded to the alpha red channel it would be private if it is um before sonic boom came out just to show like how long i've been making videos um i don't think i have it no i had a video that i took down pretty quick called why sonic boom is gonna be great it was optimistic it was very optimistic and uh ultimately incorrect i don't even remember the points of what it was but uh it was like a video essay type thing of like here are all the reasons why despite all odds sonic boom will be great i think it had to do with just like oh we finally get to play as multiple characters again oh we're gonna have uh whatchamacallit uh it was like not developed by sonic team it was like was it a big red button is that is that the company who made it yeah big red button and i just i was just optimistic you know and uh ultimately incorrect also remember this i i have not held one of these in years and holy it's giant actually i want it i want to see like a size comparison here because like wii u is pretty the gamepad's pretty massive honestly yeah i just thought big red button was gonna make a good sonic game and like i think if if i was presented with that same information now i'd probably say the exact same thing it's just it's just a little little harder i mean i wouldn't have known will you gamepad feels great to hold though it does it's it's just like these little curves and edges right here it's pretty good it is a dummy thick console i do agree with that i can uh remove this and now we just get to see my curtains surrounding it or do you guys want to see hampton whatever i can i can grant any wish uh get to the damn game oh my god i want to oh my god i want to trust me i i started stream a bit premature um i i started stream as a two minutes left downloading did not know i had to wait for it to install so uh here we are stalling as they say in the business uh professionally so um but today i'm actually not i think this stream is gonna last uh three hours and then after that we're switching to mario party and do you remember the one video of the here let me let me let me let me do the thing uh what is this what is this oh nothing this is such a nothing uh window capture i think yeah we'll just do this this probably there honestly sonic here like people say like i'm a sonic hater but this i think this tier list shows that like i like sonic quite a bit i think the characters in sonic are great like the worst part about sonic is the games it's it's honestly really sad like that's it oh my god it's so loud i'm sorry i don't know what just happened there weird audio catch up but yeah i i think this is like a rough sonic tier list for me oh yeah i'm not ranking echo because i have absolutely no idea what she's from and then like i'm just not ranking this character yeah i'm sorry audio broke that i demise he dies and the suspense is rising i still don't know what happens after this i guess that's why we're here we gotta find out yesterday i do respect from quentin tarantino and you this early in the game which is the same joke i used seven years ago when i played this you were saying i didn't mean that literally it was a taunt it's villainy 101. i'm ready for the cutscenes though because this keep having these ghost frames in it you know like you if you go frame by frame you can tell that like uh it just goes invisible for a second like the screen just goes black okay okay i did not know button layout i didn't know metal sonic was in this game sonic has to show up right when eggman is springing on us oh the cutscenes are rendered in game oh that makes that makes a lot of sense actually because uh the game engine is already as incredible as it is you know what it looks like from up here why don't you come down here and find out oh no oh no all seven frames in action on that one keep running is this like what you remembered this game to be because [Music] what are you waiting for after that all right so i'm a little surprised already a playable game that sounds delicious but no the post ambush ambush he did say that's a lot of damage he did do that i could have made that in photoshop all right and we land we suck the landing this lighting is atrocious and it took me forever to figure out how to control them and then i couldn't have all that effort go to waste unless i'd stick them on you there's so many endless roads in sonic who has time to build them all ah okay so now we get to play the game a little bit a small little tutorial as a treat here we go we use why you attack that makes sense smash why to do more combos i i do think it's bold for them to introduce like this kind of combat in sonic they have swords these guys are good okay he has dodge roll good to know once again what is the the frame rate is just as about about as consistent as i expected is it very it's on a kick the start of every cut scene you see them for a second they're like a posing and then they just hard like snap to where they're supposed to be in the cutscene oh this is already turning out to be interesting it never stays there so i guess double jump in this weird is like attack i'm not gonna catch all the rings i don't care uh it can be tails no not yet sonic do you see that structure way over there you see that i don't know what it is but no harm in finding out where are we like i feel like most of the world should just be known by this point i think nothing happened nothing changed we're just in the forest walking i wish they made this game open world it'd be oh i guess that is the new sonic game just because i just want a really bad game i want like i'm rooting for this game's downfall i'll be honest i want it to be as awful as it possibly can oh treasure because i with this game oh my god look at his stretchy hands wait wait wait wait wait wait i'm not alone seeing that right i i wish i could zoom in on that oh my why is he so stretchy why is he luffy stretchy you okay um i want to see him stretch again oh wow he stretched you to go fast but it always makes you do like this which is kind of the antithesis of fast oh my god playing on the the gamepad is something i i haven't missed i ordered a pro controller for the wii u but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet so i'm stuck doing this i get triple jump on that one all right whatever we're moving on we need to find the best way through this place i think we should split up for a bit you take the left and i'll check out the right it sounds like kel's face looks so derpy we keep fading to black fading to black it's like it's a pokemon game oh we're separated gotcha may lead to a path out of our current predicament here's the weakest punch ever get across this huge chasm so there are doorways to our right can knuckles just fly over these chad can you make sure to tell me whenever knuckles can fly over something that's a funny joke knuckles is dumb and that's his personality i'm the only one who can handle this area thanks though i got this one okay we're doing a sonic level first thing this is just an extended tutorial right we're just gonna play with all the characters and learn the tricks and shenanigans that they can do and with sonic he's a fast guy and by fast i mean he walks at a moderate jog baby i bet that pressing this button will do something that's it like sonic is such he is such a moderate pace right now he could be so much faster oh oh so rings is just health in this game it's nothing crazy okay let's go lower i love rings that's good to know sonic do they just talk to me for the whole game i think this wall can be broken okay hey guys sonico6 would probably be a much better received game if the loading screens didn't take you so long where you got to think about is this a good game or not like that's what that's where they went wrong if they just let you accept the game everything was fine it's the fact they give you the time to think about if it's a good game that's why you need better loading screens no skyward guy i think for the 20s thing i hope you buy a map with this uh i'll do what i can uh thank you one man ensemble i've been playing and ranking every sonic game in order and want this one to be as blind as i can how that works um my camera button's not working i can't look around let's turn on the power how do i do that oh oh team yeah we did it together i don't know how amy got up here but we sure did are you guys okay looks like we've fallen through a trap door we're trapped down here we'll keep going forward they are honestly the two most worthless members of sonic boom somehow the thing that's faster than the speed of light and the creature that can fly because he can't really fly he can glide but for some reason knuckles can fly up we go yeah why can't tails fall how is he so worthless he lets that happen i like hearing knuckles say up we go it's like they knew you know i think it's so cowardice to patch this game one thing i i dislike greatly is uh whenever developers will patch their games to to take out stuff like this and like i understand like oh you want the game i think it's fine to take out glitches that can ruin casual playthroughs but like what casual is gonna be matching mashing these buttons in the exact same order and then like i don't i don't i don't i can't imagine anyone does that naturally like one person found it and then everyone else did it after that oh amy's died let's clear some weight all right hello just one robot just punch him oh he's dead i missed yeah so that's that's how i feel about like glitches like if they patch out stuff that can just happen casually i think that's fair but it makes me really sad when they like metroid dread patched out a few things that they said ruined a casual experience but i don't think it did and i i think like the infinite knuckles glitch i was like what come on who who's using that besides the people who are speedrunning it that's just how i feel about glitches and stuff like that i the i think the rings how they work in this game also feels very not sonic it's like a health bar now which i have like it doesn't it just doesn't feel sonic sonic is all about you either at full health or you don't which is pretty raw if you really think about it and and that's not how this game works no sir [Music] someone said well you are and you're not speedrunning it but like i know about the glitch like it's not this is a casual playthrough but i'm still like aware of it you know like i'm making the choice is what i'm saying i'm a lot of people how do you run into this casually and then like i guess like the first level in sonico6 how you always die through some glitch you know like that is an accidental death and you're like whoa what the happened there like no one's gonna be like doing this with knuckles and then being like you know they're not going to jump over an entire wall and be like whoa did my game just glitch i think that's what i'm saying like even if they do it on accident which happens uh i don't think anyone's gonna notice it happen you know what i mean but uh yeah that's just that's just how i feel about glitches in general uh it's not a glitch that hurts your talking npcs learning i think when you learn like what moves do you know you have to learn how to read because like flamethrower sounds awesome but so does like willow wisp you're like but it didn't do any damage this move sucks so you have to like read and learn learn about it i i think like kids games have a lot of dialogue kind of based i i have a lot of friends who like learn how to read they were like people like the social dynamic in that game let's make the game almost entirely that i don't think it's like actually as bad as people say probably uh i haven't played through it in years i played through it once casually when it came out and i think it's one of those things where like enough people said it was bad so everyone else just agrees it's bad like one of those things you know but it it's like they just try to make it less of a strategy game more of like a social sim which you know i i think three houses kind of blended those well but i think awakening had all these social changes to it so they were like oh let's do that but more and then people just didn't like it because the characters just written uh really poor the story was made like it was just they did a lot it was different it was not good it's like i'm i'm everyone says it's bad and i agree but there's no way it's as bad as people say it is so yeah i'll i'll probably try it i can't imagine a video over 51 faith to do well but also try it just because it sounds fun i want to educate myself on how good it is what do you think sonic and tails are those other guys better be getting into any that and be like nailed it that line was all me on phenomenal observation from tales though i gotta give him credit where credits do and he nailed the execution the delivery on that was phenomenal he did sound surprised he he definitely sounded like he was bringing something new to the table that sonic wasn't ready for what he had cooking it says if sonic saw the ramps and tails goes this does not know what to do with them about to drop this bomb of information on him stay with me and i rant about it all while the game looks like this oh and this looks every room looks the same it all looks the same get that door open i'm trying tails just tails is the least helpful version of himself he's ever been like i come maybe like that door's locked he goes sonic get it open it's just i had to double ever since it got patched i should say one of my favorite gaming experiences ever i think it's phenomenal and one thing i will say about final fantasy 15 that they nailed was that it's just four dudes and cars and they just have conversations and those conversations feel real every time people talk about like that repetitive dialogue i always think back to final fantasy 15 because i love listening in on those characters talking and normally i on like boring dialogue like that but uh final fantasy 15 did a really good job of that big fan of that game die die where's this okay they're just rolling out what is final fantasy 15 even about just four dudes and cars that easy persona 5 mementos that that is an example of characters talking to each other i just have to break all this again yeah final fantasy 15 is a game about fishing that's actually pretty correct i'll just take the damage just you can damage boost through everything in this game it just doesn't matter i don't no i to circle oh sonic hit lyric with the spin dash gotcha gotcha he did spin dash into him so like lyric only saw sonic do a spin dash once and was like predictable and he remembered that spin dash for a they patched this out because i now see the dangers of it you know what sonic uh i i take it back you know best i'm just the mere consumer what do i know i just went to hell and back in this game and that's what a good teammate would say so uh what did you guys think about sonic boom so far because i have a lot of thoughts and i think all my thoughts are pretty tame up until like the past 15 minutes that's when it got batshit what the just start wait wait is this this is all i skipped this is it i'm backward what and it did no cutscene played it just skipped me was that intentional looks like you got lucky knuckles it just kept the cutscene though i guess because they already played it am i soft again okay there's one more thank god i honestly got jump scared by him a little bit yeah so we when we came here we actually didn't skip a lot i just thought we did and i was scared so this is fine trust my instincts we were right to skip that because it was way harder going all the way back are you a little scared no why are you i think we have a dead end if you can't solve a problem this tells so many stories this hair knows so much you okay speed isn't always the answer sometimes sometimes you punches big deal maybe i loosened it yeah you keep thinking that that's cute i do like that cut scene and then knuckles almost kills it ends for sonic oh that's funny it's cute lots of nice little cut scene and we got more story here huh oh wow um now uh i think it's mario party time right after all that that was let me try and take a moment to like soak in everything that happened because that was that was insane mario party yeah um we're doing um i can't continue playing the game because i already scheduled with other people um we're gonna play mario party with uh ouija kid
