PILOT VLOG: A day in the life of a CARIBBEAN SKYDIVE PILOT

nice to you guys long on a day in life at the Caribbean skydive pilot as you can hear the pool is right next to the runway start the day off with the noise of a loud ATR so that's my alarm that's liquor but [Music] hi what's up I'm very good um would you mind refilling this guide I played there this morning in an hour so 10:30 perfect did you do 40 40 perfect I'll see you then got that sorted no it's time for some breakfast before the start of every workday I go through a short to do this this includes calling up a few guy checking the weather and checking the no times and that's what I like to do during breakfast I check the tap and meet art from both Princess Juliana and CJ Lloyd these two airports are also my alternates in events of a diversion so I make sure I also have a look at their notes times two for both weather EndNote M I download a PDF from the website and said it's my boss for bookkeeping I also like using the site called windy and has this really per function that allows you to see the wind direction and speed at different altitudes or grab the drop zone it's 10:05 time to go got my work clothes on and we're gonna take the car to the airport [Music] so a lot of people ask me how I got this job and it's kind of a funny story the skydive season in the Netherlands ends around November the weather gets worse and there's less flights so I thought I'm not gonna spend the whole winter doing nothing at least I wanted to fly and I was looking at different places in Europe and they were really hiring for such a short period of time and that my dad said with your a birthday as a license you can basically just work in all the European countries but that also means the Caribbean so I did some googling and I found a drop zone here in San Martin one in one there and one in Guadeloupe I said when she goes okay guys looking for a pilot I have no idea if they were actually looking for anyone and I got some replies in panetta they didn't need anybody want a loop they were really excited but then when they saw my resume and they saw that I wasn't speaking French they're like that's all you can't come which now after our troops you bought a loop I figured out they do all their ride their radio work in French which would have been a challenge so after looking up the drop zone here is kind of a succes my found their Facebook page sent the of a Facebook message actually asking if they were looking for a pilot and they said yeah we are how many hours you have do you have dropping experience and are you available from November until April of course so set that my resume they were excited about that I wanted to come they never had a female pilot before and then I was gonna come in November but their pilot wanted to stay a little bit longer so it ended up being end of January and I've been here for three weeks and it's so much fun doing a lot of flying adventuring around the islands seeing all the beaches I mean there's 30 32 anything I don't know 30 plus beaches here that I can go and adventure too it's got a loop for maintenance which is a lot of fun and it's super cool to just be here in a country where I can fly on my European license without having to get a visa that's another thing I mean as you know I've done a lot of flying in South Africa but getting a job there I personally don't have a IQ commercial license and getting of these had to work there is not that easy so this was a really really good option then for anyone who's looking for work in the offseasons of Europe I would advise to come and work here so when we enter the air side we gotta show our passport and license I [Music] conveniently put the keys of the plane all the way in the bottom of my bag it's gone [Music] so now we're gonna take these doors out what it's as simple as this take the pins out so when we take this door out we need to make sure to put in the winds deflector just to make sure that if the cargo doors open in flight especially with the high-speed descent that we don't get a really massive inflow into the back of the cargo compartment which could blow off the tail not so safe so we can't forget that [Music] so as you can see we're almost at nine perfect if we put any more than nine ports in she just spits it all out so no need for extra oil that's good to see I don't have to do this every time but it's just because we we have to use it as a passenger plane for a few days otherwise it'll be a pain to do this every time [Music] and we have the second yoke this is actually really quite simple [Music] if you can see it it's three screws so I kept the the Gus lock is good not to forget [Music] but it's always good to double check to see if I'm wrong this population I am always a strong believer doing the really good things like especially in places like this it is windy there's other places around people walking past we put in a gust look but you never know with the winds here so do your pre-flight correctly so we check whether no time fix the plane did the pre-flight all we got to do is filed a flight plan so I have a number in guadeloupe that I call hi good day this is Rosita swing from skydive Essex M the registration is so long stroke you might see [Music] you leave the light we're done I'm just gonna wait for the passengers now and I'm gonna put on my very important [Music] electronic display and send it on the old temperature just so I could see it that's rising before I do my ruin EPS now let's put on the rest of the AVI [Music] what I'm gonna do is I'm going to incorporate a mixture back a little bit waiting on the passengers don't want to get those spark plugs all dirty just look good I'm gonna set that fixture full rich again bring my two 1800 brakes are holding because pressures are looking good let's check those potatoes [Music] hey left looks good stop it's less than 100 ipm now I got that variable pitch go back that propeller pitch three times you hear the engine [Music] is if
