hey everyone i'm almar of almarsguides.com and in this video here i'm going to go over what pre-spells are worth using in pillars of eternity so when i first started playing this game there was a surprising surprisingly low amount of information available slash out there for this game so i wanted to add a little bit more information and make it hopefully a little bit easier for people that are just starting out and uh would like to learn more about the game so to get started let's go over our first level pre-spells so we have armor of faith which is probably one of your better first level pre-spells it is also the one that i chose to master and it increases the damage reduction by four which is very very low on your group for 42 seconds so the main reason i like this spell is because it has a very long duration 42 seconds is quite a while it's almost the whole battle and it has quite a wide radius so blessing is your second best spell for the level ones uh for the level one spells and it increases your accuracy by five and damage by ten percent it has a very very large radius which makes it great but it doesn't it lasts for half the times armor of faith which is the big downside so holy uh meditation has a small radius but it gives you a bonus to concentration and will bonuses and then you also have restore minor endurance which is your very first heal that you're going to get for the priest and boy does it suck so your second level pre-spells consecrated ground this is the second heal you're going to get for the priest and the main heal that you're going to want to use at basically all times it has a larger radius the only downside is it only does a radius around the priest itself so your priest is going to have to get into the combat into the nitty-gritty uh which is kind of true for restored the light endurance anyway and the restor minor endurance because you it has a very uh you have to be pretty close to cast to the radius that you specify so aside from consecrated ground you have restored light endurance which is like i said your heel in the second uh priest category so iconic projection is a heel that a lot of people tend to like but i actually don't uh it creates a slow moving priest that heals people that are uh around the priest and it's just it's meant in my opinion but it is uh worth mentioning since people do find value in it people also find value in withdrawal which is a first level pre-spell basically what it does is it heals you but it also cc's you so it takes the person out of the battle but it heals them it's useful if you have a lot of enemies pounding on one character and you can't get him away from the enemies you just cc him and push him off to the side and then it'll basically take care of itself so uh the last spell in the second category that we want to go over is holy power which is very very sub-par but worth mentioning it basically increases the might and resolve of allies in the area of effect around your priest as you can see based on where my priest is standing right now the area of effect is extremely extremely small so that's the downside with it so circle of protection which is the first one worth mentioning in your third level pre-spells this creates a uh it raises the defenses of everybody that's in the area of effect of your choosing it doesn't last very long but it raises your defenses by quite a bit so in my opinion on the tougher fights it is worth using so pillar of faith is your uh first great damaging ability for the priest and it is uh it knocks down the enemy plus damages them which is great i strongly recommend you use this ability even if you don't plan on being like a dps oriented priest it's still great to use to just knock down knock your enemy on his ass and it also hits all other enemies in the area around the enemy you use it on so restore moderate endurance is the main heal you get for the third level of your pre-spells and much like the other spells it's pretty subpar so fourth level pre-spells you get your first really amazing spell right here with devotions for the faithful basically it's a pretty wide radius pre that'll encompass the whole battle if you cast it on your melee users and the enemies melee that will increase the accuracy and might of your characters and decrease the accuracy and light of the enemies one of the best spells that you basically use at the start of every single battle that you have the priest so next spell is restore major endurance which is your heel for this level which is subpar as they usually always are and the next spell that's worth mentioning is shining beacon which decreases the defenses of all enemies in the area by uh 10 and also does burn damage over 12 seconds so a lot of the priest damaging spells do burn damage and there's a bonus to this which is if you get the passive talent that increases your burn damage and also i think it increases your burn resistances it's nice to stack that with your priests spells so fifth level pre-spells you have another pillar that you can drop from the sky but it's not as good as the other previous one that we mentioned you have the restore critical endurance which is also pretty good uh or i should say this is when your heal spells start getting halfway decent of course it does have a very very small radius as do all the restor endurance spells and you also have champions boone which is where is it right here which is one of your better buff spells it increases the might perception and all damage reductions of whoever's in the area and you also have shields for the faithful which gives you plus 25 deflection for 42 seconds and it has a pretty uh wide area of casting the only downside for this ability is its deflection not damage reduction which means it'll only affect people that are already using a shield so that's just kind of meh so six level pre-spells cleansing flame is one of your higher damaging abilities especially if you took my previous advice and you stack uh fire damage so litany against major afflictions this one is one of your best litany against spells because it works against charmed dominated paralyzed petrified stunned terrified and weakened so basically all of the worst ailments that you can get afflicted with it works against those annoying specters slash v thrack that stun you with every single hit use this at the start of the fight and you'll stop that so prayer against treachery this is a really really good spell for any of those uh fan peers or uh spores i can't remember the the first their prefix something spore but they basically hit you and mind control you with like every hit that they do so this will work against them because it works against the dominated ability um minor intercession which is a subpar heal it's worth using if you're maxed out with spells for all of your other categories spark the souls of the righteous so this is a damage shield that does shock damage to any enemies that get near your allies which is it's a decent ability it's one of the better six level pre-spells so as far as the seventh level pre-spells you got minor avatar which is really only good if you plan on running in there and doing a good damage or if you plan on doing really any dps at all it's it's really good for priests that want to do that and you also have resurrection which is your first single target rez bell you also have a resurrection which is a fifth level pre-spell which is right here revive the fallen i missed that the first time we went through the fifth level pre-spell sorry uh and aside from that there's really nothing else that's good in the seventh level of pre-spells the eighth level pre-spells you got symbol of the uh eothas which right here sorry hiccup it periodically causes burn damage to all enemies that are in the area as well as raises the defenses of all allies that are in the area it's definitely worth using kind of small radius but it's one of the only super useful eighth level pre-spells the second good eighth level pre-spell is watchful guardian which is right here it basically just makes it so anybody who dies in the area uh or goes down in the area is immediately revived with about a hundred endurance very useful for really really tough fights when you have a lot of going on and characters are dying but overall not too useful much like with the druid and much like with a lot of the other characters in this game the final levels of the pre-spells just aren't that good you'll be using most of the early level pre-spells throughout the majority of the game including at the end of the game which is where i am now anyway that's all there is to it hopefully this video helps some of you guys out i really hope a few of you guys learned something from the video i don't consider myself to be that great at the game yet i'm still learning there was just such surprisingly little information online about this game that i wanted to contribute to the information that is out there anyway that's all there is to it like comment subscribe if you guys enjoyed the video and i will catch you around the next video peace out
