PIKE FISHING: Handmade vs Factory Lures 🔥 (Crazy action!!!)

the first video I ever uploaded to YouTube was the clip of this slur that I built back in 2008 since then it has mostly been sitting on the shelf for about 15 years so we thought it was time to take it out for another swing in today's episode we're gonna try out factory made lures versus this old wooden handmade lures and see what will work best for pike fishing this is up next take it take it traveling back to memor Lane far far back to the time where both of us started our pike fishing Journeys also um these are some absolute Rarities handmade jerkbaits made by yours truly and Pontius but this is a very small fish okay on the spinner in the weed nice time for you to come up now baby they're absolutely crazy in the summer I just love this type of fishing yeah there are some bigger fish around there this girl had a tough spawning but she made it through alive now she got fooled by Pontius old handmade spinner look at that I think that's the first fish I recorded is it yeah I think so okay nice well done man thank you let's put her back boom boom [Music] now it's on it's on here it is I haven't had a single bite now on my jerk right now I I've had two so far on the spinner I know what I'm gonna do I don't know what I'm gonna do look at this thank you Guppies there's probably nothing wrong with you since mila had two bites and I had none I'm gonna change to the weedless rig the flat no Shad in my own photo fish design look at this white back black belly like an upside down roach or something should work magic in here sometimes it can really be the key to be able to reach all the way into the weed at that extra one meter especially like called spawn like early summer fishing oh no I was super guest yeah should bite in there oh it's Molly but it's one one Factory they're very fun striking hard now we have four fish after what is it 20 minutes yeah First cast for this one this is the type alert like if I bring my kids fishing for pike this is the pillar I'll give them yeah I think as we move out this you know long shallow bay they should be like spawning in here and then moving out of it you know as the water gets warmer like ah we're done first hour that was like middle in the middle of the cast no more homemade spinners for me I'm gonna go over to maybe my favorite handmade lure this is uh the first one I caught fish on back in like 2008 or something and since then I haven't fished that much yeah but I haven't got some decent fish on it it has a very nice side to side movement a classic glider style jerkbit made with a knife and some sandpaper and yeah back in my lure Builder career I call myself Lake Groove that's my last name Holland means Lake Lund means Groove that makes Lake group greatly inspired by Mr Fortune AKA Wolf Creek that's it he did the same thing with his name just look at this that's sharp side side movement oh you knew how to build baits of course I did so let us know down in the comments if you have any lure building hard take on the Lake Grove York ah she is haven't you been using this I think I got caught fish on my handmade letters like five years ago maybe last time but this is so much fun I made this like punters who haven't made this one and it's working I accomplished something in life woohoo well I'm gonna let you go on and accomplish more stuff in your life too look like nice boom you know what I'm gonna see how many different handmade layers we can catfish on today dude this beauty this is probably the one I'm the most proud of I made this one in 2009 and I actually missed a very big bike on this one here we can see the development of my little building career I added a white dot on the head inspired by the American Jerry space the hellhound and the idea is that you will be able to see it much easier from above with this light dots [Music] move everything together this narrow part here should be fired [Music] big one on the jury space Oh that was a hard take that's not a very big fish but it's what do you mean not the nice fish are you freaking kidding me there we go board is wet just love this one totally suspending Bam Bam tap tap tap bam and this one makes it 4-2-2 handmade lures hello foreign but what a beautiful beautiful fish yeah and I just love colors like this this would be my favorites back in the day and they still are like brownish it's quite dull dark colors bam just like this Pike we are looking at exactly 90 centimeters yes we are awesome man [Music] catching a 90 centimeter Pike on your own lure that you made as a kid does not suck at all brings back so many memories I made him home you know at my parents place but we didn't have a good spot for the coating so I did that at my grandparents place in their basement so I was like every day after school I went to them put on a new layer of coating and then day after another layer of coating we were standing pretty close to the weird side closer we are now on our way out of this long shallow bay like we said we started all the way in there that's probably where we were spawning few months ago and now they're moving out of this Bay and this nice Pike was standing right in the outskirts of it we're right in the small passage out to the more open archipelago okay let's keep on moving out yeah there will be more spots with fish very well but nice oh cool this is 5-2 to Laker alerts the second hour was soon up and we moved out of the bay to the more open areas of the Holland archipelago we had found a great looking spot on Google Maps and decided to give it a go there are so much water to fish at the Holland islands and even though we fished a lot there we're still just scratching the surface of this amazing place okay let's go back on the spinner again going over to this hilding routes with a 25 gram Flex head with stinger on the back so we can fish it closer to the bottom without getting stuck there we go right in there didn't take too long with a hooligan five three she was standing just on the edge look how she hammered that bait dude yeah this is the thing with with a summer fishing on the spinner baby this is so much fun man I'm jumping action mine is a little bit bigger is it I think so yeah slightly yeah there we go on the spinner and on the hooligan Union so now it's six three yeah look at this bye-bye that was a nice take on pontes verbal spinner a real it or anything first time I used it I hooked to this date the biggest pike I've ever hooked in my life and lost that fish unfortunately but it you know it went for it like twice before it smashed it before I put in a paint on it so it's coated like this but I think it's time for this one to shine again I'm gonna try I mean look at this action in the water it's sick perfectly suspending I have so small taps with a rod it Glides like crazy up and down side to side you can use some really wide Glides if you push it hard okay that's how good it is and we have seven seven what the actual heck me like oh I was just gonna show it this one was in the water for it wasn't eight seconds sometimes I don't need that much uh fuss you know it's crazy today Mila back she goes I'm on fire today man oh heartbreaking it's a joke now I'm gonna do the ultimate confidence bait I haven't even caught a pike on this one yet but I think we're about to do that soon I really freaking hope so at least we've all been there the very dark place where you start questioning your ability as an angler and therefore your worth as a human being I was at rock bottom and there was only one thing that could get me out of there monkey boot I fished one hour I've tried everything second cast ever with monkey root Hallelujah on the hot pipe nice yes sir oh follower follower follower oh come on I lost it right here but I took the leader touch so it's uh this is nine eight so you have lava front my confidence was finally restored and even though Pontius kept catching Pike after Pike after Pike I reminded myself that fishing is not only about catching the most or biggest fish it's also about enjoying a great time on the water and trying to learn from your failures sometimes you're in the zone and everything is going your way but honestly how fun would it be if fishing was always easy our day was coming to an end but the aggressive Pike of Orland Islands kept striking like there was no tomorrow well for one of us at least there we go goodbye bigger fish you're not afraid of you anymore I'm a stalker I think we're talking the last Pike of the day here look at this beauty so much fun today last fish of the day on a fantastic day here in the Holland archipelago yeah what was the final score I think it was 17-10 1710 to have made an area I think the official score between you and me is 22-4 22 4 which is sick so yeah it was really fun to travel back in time for a little bit and yeah re-explore these old yeah I think as you also it doesn't really matter what we threw today but it was just an awesome challenge to do this yeah it works with Factory lures it works with handmade lures it works with whatever you believe on but we can highly recommend you guys to try to to do some some lures yeah and it doesn't have to be that fancy I mean look at this big wooden piece take away all Prestige just try to make something that you think a fish would eat it's mostly about the movement I would say and not even that is that no exactly as long as it moves it works and as long as you're on oldland Islands [Music] thank you
