[Music] hi there this is sumeesh from pics and perfect and i hope that you're having a fantastic day and if not i'm very sure that you're trying your level best to make it a beautiful one when it comes to creativity my friends even sky is not the limit at least according to the latest photoshop update you see when sky replacement was first introduced in photoshop you could not even import multiple skies you had to select them one by one but right now you sure can import multiple skies but also you can have multiples of amazing skies at your disposal especially with this latest update in this video let's take a look at a few new features in the sky replacement department in photoshop i'm excited to share this with you so without any further ado let's get started [Music] back in the magical world of photoshop and if you do wish to follow along using any of these photos do check the links in the description now the sky replacement feature where is that my friend you go to edit and simply sky replacement now first of all let's take a look at how you can add these beautiful skies that are added with this latest update first of all you would click on the drop down where you can choose the skies click on this gear right there and just choose get more skies this will open a webpage where you can download all your additional sky presets that you my friend are entitled to first of all we have some sunsets we have spectacular skies i have downloaded all of these now let's learn how to import that into photoshop click on the drop down again click on this gear icon right there choose import skies and we're gonna choose from sky presets we can also import individual images but these sky presets are in the sky format dot sky extension to be precise so have a look these are the files and all of them are in sky file format so let's select all of these and click on load yes this is a great news you can choose multiple presets or multiple images now so this was already available with a couple latest updates but when it was first introduced you couldn't select multiple stuff so right now if i collapse this group have a look all of these presets are loaded so we have a lot of skies inside blue skies we have a lot of them inside night skies now each of these preset contains multiple skies now you might be asking on me how do i create my own preset or your own sky file again it's simple you have a couple of skies you want to turn it into a sky preset so that you can share it with anybody for this demonstration i'm going to use some skies from sky solution kit that i use in my personal workflow if you are interested in any of that i'll have it linked in the description so first of all just click on the plus button right there and select all of the skies that you do want to import or turn into a preset click on open and by the way these are all 50 megapixel images and that's why it's taking a lot of time now select all of these guys select the first one hold the shift key select the last one all of these will be selected in series then simply click on the gear icon right there and choose export selected skies that's it you can also right click on the sky and choose export selected skies let's name this fire and click on save have a look it will be saved in sky format click on save and now let's see if it worked let's delete all of this now click on the gear icon again import skies from sky preset and let's choose fire click on load and have a look it worked perfectly now we do get some pretty amazing skies for this update let's take a look at that so for instance my favorite pack is spectacular let's open that up let's see what works for this image i think this guy would be perfect let's choose that and have a look it's fantastic isn't it now the controls are the same it's not matching pretty well so let's increase the color adjustment all the way to the right hand side it's matching a little better lighting adjustment i think we have to move it a little forward as well now there are birds which are kind of acting weird right over there so i guess we need to just shift the edge a little bit to the left probably that will help clear things up and this looks all right let's apply it let's take a look here's the before here's the after now definitely you need to go in on the sky just hide the mask for a while and then just zoom in and remove the extra birds using whatever method you please you can use the patch to select multiple birds at once i'm holding the shift key to have multiple selections and then just drag them all at the top to a blank space and all of them are gone now let's turn on the mask and let's see if something is bothering us so this is bothering us and let's just remove that and similarly you can just go ahead and remove all of the birds that are bothering us and there you have a perfect sky replacement let's take a look at a few more skies that come with this set let's go to edit and then sky replacement now for this image again i'm going to choose something again from the spectacular pack didn't i tell you it was my favorite so again it doesn't have a lot of skies so if you did want something in the evening something very dramatic also something that doesn't catch so much of an attention because if you're doing real estate you don't want the attention to go to the sky but on the house you don't really have a huge collection of similar skies here let's say i wanted orange-ish skies so we don't really have many we just have spectacular so all kinds of colors in spectacular skies we have options for that anyway these are great skies to get started with let's go with this one i think this would go great with the windows as well the colors would go nice so this looks nice you can also increase the color adjustment to match that more i don't want that much of a lighting adjustment also we don't want to fade the edge so much alright let's apply that this is good but still have a look at the road it's bluish it's not matching that well how do we match that if you watch pixel perfect you know what we are going to do now curves so let's just collapse the sky replacement group and just above the background layer we're going to create a curves adjustment layer so how should it be it should be a little more yellow right so let's go to the blue channel blue is the opposite of yellow so let's take it down just this much how do you feel about that pretty good just look down here not at the top the color of the house is changing don't worry about that the next thing is green this is becoming too greenish so let's just go ahead and decrease the green a bit all right i like that color and definitely we want a little more red here so now it's kind of matching let's go to blue let's take it down even further let's take the green up just by a bit all right now we are seeing some drastic changes select the mask press controller command i you can take the gradient tool right there and just draw a gradient so that it affects the bottom part of the image right now this weird gradient is selected make sure the very first one the simple one the linear one is selected so we only want it at the bottom half of the house just like this and we don't want so much of it so just a little bit of that does make a ton of difference let's go with 50 here's the before here's the after we can even go with a little more softer gradient all right that matches even better before after there we go now let's learn how to add multiple skies to specific groups so that you have easy access to them let's say you have a set of morning skies and you want to create a morning group and you have a set of dramatic skies for the dramatic group so that all you have to do is to open the dramatic group and add a dramatic sky in a dramatic scene that's all there is to it by the way if you are into professional real estate photography portraits wedding or any of that and you are replacing skies on a regular basis to make your images dramatic i don't recommend using photoshop skies because you don't want to be using skies that millions of people already have access to i'm not saying they're bad skies they're brilliant skies but i always recommend using something different using something professional you can create your own skies what i personally use is something called the sky solution kit the base pack comes with 300 skies i think there's some additional twilight skies in there but i use this one so master collection 300 jpegs so you have blue skies and all of them are 50 megapixel images captured with a medium format camera and if you look at any of these guys let's say into the sunset all of these are professional skies that not really take away complete attention of the viewer from the subject these are beautiful smooth amazing skies and no matter how much you zoom in this is not going to pixelate to a large extent and also if you want you have access to the raw files so if i go back have a look i have the raw dng of this so if i go to that see these are dng file formats i recommend this you can create your own skies photograph your own skies i highly recommend this instead of selecting skies from photoshop although they're good although they're excellent it's just that sometimes when you see a photo uploaded in a photography facebook group and you know that that particular sky is from photoshop and somebody replaced it it just gives out certain beginner feels and you don't really want that to import the new skies first of all inside of sky replacement click on this arrow right there and you can create a group of your choice so click on this button right there and let's say i want to import some sunset skies all right hit ok that will create a group just select the group and then click on the gear from import skies choose from images alternatively you can right click on it and choose import skies from images by the way if you are interested in these guys i'll have it linked in the description so do go ahead and check it out now in this case we're gonna go with into the sunset let's select all of these guys and just click on open now again it's taking time keep in mind it's 50 megapixel image there you go we have our set of beautiful skies let's go with the very first one let's choose that now this is such a beautiful sky but it's not looking as good first of all let's flip it to make sure that the direction of light matches but still it's kind of not matching and even if i bring it a little up i don't like it that much and by the way since this is a high resolution image you can just scale it to whatever size you want so there you go this is our match let's increase color adjustment let's try increasing lighting adjustment as well but still it's not a good match and that's why i still stick to luminar when it comes to sky replacement let me share this with you in luminar so this my friend is photoshop's work so here's the before here's the after now let's make a copy of the background layer and place it at the top and this one is for luminar let's go to filter convert for smart filters hit ok so that whatever settings we apply inside of luminar we can always tweak that later let's go to filter skylum software luminar ai and i think i had made luminar videos a couple months ago and i still have offers from that so if you are still interested in luminar i'll have it linked with the offers in the description i don't know if the offers will work so i'll just mention that in the description do check that out for the latest updates simply go to edit and then you're gonna come down to sky ai and just choose the sky and by the way you can import skies here too and you have groups here as well so anyway let's just scroll down i think i have that sky so this is the one have a look the sky is beautifully replaced now i can flip this guy here as well now have a look it's not going directly into the flowers so we can actually define the horizon here so you can click on horizon position so i'm going to bring it down so that it kind of goes down a little bit there you go once you're happy with that click on horizon position again and it's going to bring that down already the masking here is perfect but if you do want to play with masking and make sure that the sky seeps in a little more you can just increase the global and if there are some errors here and there we can just increase close gaps and it will fix that for you pretty good now have a look you see more of the skies here and it gets in perfectly now here's the most essential part and that is re-lighting and this is one of the reasons why i still stick to luminar now of course you can re-light the entire scene according to the sky here now have a look the lands and the flowers matched but the great part is you have another slider just for the human so i'm going to crank relight strength all the way up for the entire scene and also increase it for the human now have a look our subject here matches so good with that of the background now you can also increase the relight saturation a little bit so this will just make the colors a little more vivid according to the sky now on top of this of course you can make it a little more exciting by applying a lot by just going to mood right over there and choose any one of these let's go with long beach i really like this one and increase the amount a little bit and take a look it just enhances the mood a little bit you can also tone the image if you wish to so let's say in the highlights you did want a little bit of yellowish color just this much in the highlights actually i was doing it in the shadows accidentally but that also looked good and in the shadows you wanted something magenta let's go with magenta but again this is too saturated so let's go with a lower saturation something like this and i still feel the subject is a little too bright and the highlights are just going bizarre here so you can go to the light section here and you can go to curves here as well so it does have curves so i'm going to take the highlights down just a bit that looks all right and click apply just take a look at the difference this is photoshop's version this is lumira's version now of course we did some additional toning and color waiting but it didn't take any time at all on top of that the re-lighting is just so much better here's photoshop here's luminar one other reason why i still prefer luminar for sky replacement is this feature have a look at it this is done with luminar i'm not gonna show the complete process but you get it by the way if you want to see the whole process and the whole comparison between luminar ai and photoshop and the reflection thing watch this video it's already out there so this is the before and this is the after done with luminar ai have a look it supports reflection let's say you have a real estate photo with a pool in it you're replacing the sky how are you gonna have the reflection in the pool you gotta have to do it manually in photoshop but luminar it just supports reflection with sky replacements and i've shown it in this video so do go ahead and check that out but anyway this video is about photoshop but it's also important to compare it with what's out there and the technologies out there i hope you enjoy these brilliant sky packs and i have to give it up to adobe for creating these high quality amazing dramatic skies and making it available for photoshop users thank you so much adobe by the way if you do want to stand out with your sky replacement and you don't want to be someone who people go all right i see that sky i know that sky i've seen it somewhere maybe it's in photoshop you want to use something different you want to use something that makes you stand out something that is of high quality i do recommend the sky solution kit it just has like really high quality skies that you can use everything is cropped in properly it's linked up in the description do go ahead and check it out so still when it comes to photoshop there are two features that are still lacking that i really want in it and adobe if you're watching this i would love for it to see these features in future updates number one feature is definitely reflection what about reflection areas right now we can find a workaround by inverting the sky and just masking out the water area and maybe blur it add ripples and something it's all manual photoshop but i would like to see that inside of the sky replacement dialog box now i do understand that would involve a lot of computational algorithms and ai sensei and all of that stuff i don't know how that works but you know you are the developer but the other feature that i would love to have that can be easily implemented that's what i think i might be wrong and that is the ability to add blur to the skies because many times especially when we want to do a sky replacement of portraits and we have a shallow depth of field we want the ability to blur the skies because we don't want it to defy the laws of optics right so according to the shallow depth of field in the image anything in the background is blurred so the sky should be there too so if there was a slider for that that would be greatly helpful maybe that slider can be added as a gaussian blur smart filter so that we can also go ahead and change that later but again too much of suggestions thank you so much for this guys i hope you enjoyed this video and if you did make sure to give us a like and also don't forget to subscribe and not just subscribe ring the bell so that you my friend don't miss any other feature tips tricks or tutorials i would like to take this moment to thank all these nice and amazing people for supporting pixel perfect on patreon and helping keep picks and perfect free for everybody forever thank you so much for watching thank you for your time i'll see you in my next one till then stay tuned and make sure that you keep creating [Music] you
