Hi guys! Welcome back to NautiStyles! Today we'll bring you another unique
opportunity as part of our affordable liverboard yacht series. We're
going to be looking at this 1971, Bertram 74, which has
undergone a massive refit. So we cannot wait to show it to you. Alright, welcome back! Make sure you're following us on Instagram
and also check out a Patreon page if you're interested on joining us
on our future yacht tours! Let's go and check out this beautiful lady! They're starting with the
swim step with my friend here. Wolfie protecting the swim
set from the sea lions. Yeah! This is a nice swim step. Hello
Wolfie! Alright. We'll let you be. You want to come up? Yep. We have our swim ladder
protected by Wolfie. What do we have behind this
swim step here? A Brig! We got a Brig here. I wonder where he
bought the Brig. I've no idea! Where did he get the Brig? Anyways it's a Brig...In the Marina Del Rey area. Yeah. I plead the fifth.
It's a Brig Eagle Four 2021. Does this yacht come with it? And it
comes with a boat. It comes with a Brig. Yup. Oh! So this boat is for sale. Okay. Ready? Let's
go. Let's check it out! Alright! Come into the cockpit. This is very unusual!
For someone who enjoys cooking. This yacht is going to
check off a lot of boxes. This is a full-blown outdoor kitchen
here. This is absolutely amazing. Check this out. I don't think we've ever
toured a yacht that had this! This kind of a caliber. Of a built-in outdoor galley and built-in
outdoor kitchen. I mean, you kidding me, right? Wow. Look at that.
Barbecue. Crazy! That's amazing. Really! It has a rotisserie, rotisserie
function as well. It's a grill baby. People are
going to correct you! It's a Grill. Barbecue is what you eat.
Those are the comments we get. Alright! Americanized. It's a barbecue. Barbie. And here we have two. Two burners. Yeah. Pretty awesome. So you can make a really nice meal here. And a good size prep area as
well and storage underneath. And some drawer storage! Oh, this is amazing. Pretty cool. Yeah. So, we have a seating area here. It's not a
very large cockpit, plenty to sit around. It's got seating for, I don't know, eight people. You could probably
sit around here easily, while someone is cooking. Yeah. And it's all sectional patio furniture.
So you can move it as you want to. Or... Yeah! You can, you can completely change it up whichever
way you like to. But yeah, this is how it's set up and right there,
you actually have your controls, right? A shift throttle control here on the
AFT to stern and maneuvers or for docking, which is kind of easy because
you're just looking over the side, you see the entire side of the boat.
It's actually pretty convenient. Our shore power inlets right here
as well. Do you now if you can keep that end-tie? I do not know, but I can probably find out! And right
there we have our shore water inlet. So that's great too. It's set up for
that you don't have to refill your tank. I really liked the sunshade. Yeah. It's pretty sweet. I mean, this feels like a nice little
outdoor living room here. And the view, huh? Look at the view. We
come up here! So a couple of steps up. A little Juliet balcony here. If your guests are hanging out there,
you just: "hello everyone". Oh, this is kind of cool. I like this. I like
this view from up here. Yeah. And you can put a couple of chairs here as
well. Right? And just hang out. This is a great little space here. Put some high chairs here. That's true! And mount a little, a little bar area here and make a countertop on top. Well, what do you have? Is that an escape hatch? Yeah, this is the escape
hatch from the master stateroom. So you kind of want to make sure
that's accessible, right? Yeah. So maybe the chairs have
to be removed for that. This ladder is going to
take us to the flybridge, but should we check out all the way
forward first? Go to the Bow. Yeah. I would be a little scared underway, but there's a different
way to go to the Bow underway, right? Yes. It's definitely more safe.
Yeah. This I would just me personally, plenty of you'll probably be
fine. Rico be perfectly fine, but I would just be a little
bit, but there's a rail all the way. Actually thinking of
Catalina picking up a Moring. This is easier than some other boats
because you don't have any obstruction. That's actually a good point. Yeah. One hand for the morning line, one hand for
the boat, and then just walk back. Yeah. You can also click yourself in. Yeah, you could! And you just like freely, freely have two hands. That's a good point.
I haven't thought of that. Alright! Let's see what's next. If you think of, I
mean, it's, it is a Bertram. It used to be a fisher or yacht fisher. And, even if you look at the
modern sport fishers, like the Vikings and the
Hatteras and the Bertrams, they all do have the no railing
design. Most of them! There is a reason for that. Exactly. Where you just have the open decks
on the side when you walk forward. Yeah. I see what you mean.
Yeah. I mean, here at the dock, it's not an issue at all, but
like I said, there's another, there's another way
that we can go forward, but which some of you might
like better. Yeah. Alright. Well, now it's pretty wide here.
Yeah. And it is a big foredeck. She's got like a non-skid here
everywhere. It's pretty nice. Oh, wow. Oh, this is cool. Right. Love it. So there's a ladder going
down into the forward stateroom. So this would be the other option, the other way to access the Bow
portion of the boat. Yeah. I think if I was coming over here underway, I'd probably use that, just because I
would feel more safe. But like you said, at the anchor also, it's really nice, is to be able to jump off, from the side of the boat, like at the islands. Even on top of here. Like imagine
you just jump in from the top here. That is pretty cool. How
do you get up there? Just climb up there. Oh yeah. Yeah.
This is a little here. You'll just step-up here. Cause it
comes up on that side. You could also outfit this with a
huge amount of layout cushions. Yeah. You can also put foldable
loungers there. They're really nice. Like couple of actually like three.
It is kind of like a blank slate. I'm so jealous right now about this
hammock and we cannot do that on our boat. That's a double hammock. Can I try it? And what do you think. Have a good time doing the tour. That would be a nice spot underway. AHHHH! You guys, this is ridiculous. Right?
Speaking of a lifestyle! What the hell? Oh. We gotta be able to do this and on the
next boat Rico, whatever boat that is, we gotta be able to have a hammock!
I agree. This is Nuts. Alright. Back to the tour. No! Okay, fine. You guys want
to see the rest? Alright. I'm gonna make sure I don't fall. I gotta
make sure I don't fall into this hatch. Alright. You guys. Here
we have our foot remotes switches for the anchor, a brand new windlass, brand new
anchor chain, brand new anchor. This boat has undergone a massive, massive refit with over
$400,000 in upgrades. Wow. I know that barbecue alone
must have been a lot of money! Grill. Sorry, grill. And all the hatches are replaced as well.
So they're all brand new on the boat. We have another shore power inlet
there as well as a shore water inlet. Honestly, I think I would add like a two-step. I
think they would use it a lot more. Just the simple two-step
and you can go up and down. How nice is this was sun-downers? That's what I was thinking.
Oh, beautiful. Going to be so nice! Two deck
chairs. A couple of steps. Yes. Okay! Go back? You know me and open rails. It's just
water down there! I am a little scared. This is a good spot to jump
off. Right? Definitely. Alright! Flybridge. Back up here! and we're going to go to
the flybridge. It does have a ladder. Too. You guys know? Not my personal
favorite, but it is a sports fishing yacht. So it's going to have a ladder most of
the time. So let's check it out. Yeah. Everything was redone on the
boat. Like the ceiling panels, everything is upgraded and
redone. It's pretty amazing. Welcome to the flybridge! It's cute.
I like the color of the cushions. It looks really inviting. With the
black piping? Yeah. And it matches the kind
of a Stripe Bimini. Yeah! I like it! Has that vintage feel to it.
I like, the choices. They, they work for the boat for sure. It doesn't look like new step on board
and you're like, okay, this is weird. Cause it's a 70's boat, but it
looks like, you know, 2000. So now, I like what they did. It looks
nice and it's really high up. Yeah. Super high. I mean this flybridge is extremely
tall. Would be good for Whale watching! Would be great. Yeah. So I always think about when we
get up on the high flybridge, all I think about is watch...spotting! Spotting spot. Yes. A very comfortable space, for, I want to say like
six to eight people. Yeah. Definitely having some cocktails
or coffee or whatever up here. I just think that there is no Helm
chair here! It probably was removed. Yeah. I guess, to,
to be able to just, I mean, you're going to use an
autopilot most of the time. You're not going to stand there. Yeah. So, but I'm sure you could put a Helm
chair there if you really want to. And just walking through quick here, we
have our engine analog gauges here, VHF radio and brand new chart
plotter, Garmin. Like I said, the boat was refitted. It
got a new chart plotter. The autopilot is still an old
autopilot. So as you can see, it is about to go. And the owner already has an appointment
at the old yacht for new bottom paint and a brand new autopilot,
which is getting installed. So not just the electronic part, the
entire autopilot, it's a big investment. So whoever's getting this yacht
is getting a brand new autopilot, brand new electronics. Yeah. Ready to cruise! Kind of interesting
position for the throttles up here, the shift throttles, which really actually makes sense because
a lot of times they're mounted low. This makes total sense. Great
visibility too. What are you doing there? Check out this view! Ahhh this is great. It would be a nice little reading
nook! Right! Little chair here. Yeah! Maybe like a little thing
that comes up and you have this, this is an extension... You know
what I mean? Like a little thing here. And you can just sit here and
read! Really nice! It's beautiful. Pretty big sunshade actually for the entire
AFT deck. Really nice! I wanna check out inside! Let's check out the interior. Okay. Pretty comfortable staircase actually. Okay. So
we have a massive sliding door here. And more. A sliding pocket door. Goes all the way in there.
Yeah, that is awesome. This is nice flooring here. Really beautiful. Gorgeous. Look at the teak floor.
I'm sorry. I'm peeking ahead. But this is very unusual. I've never, ever been on a
boat like this with a layout like that. It has like two living rooms I think. Yeah. You don't even need any blinds.
Not even in the evening. Um, the owner of the boat told me
that this is a limousine tint. So even at nighttime, you will
maybe see a little bit of light, but you cannot see inside. I like the name limousine tint. Limousine
tint. So what do we have here? Two couches. I mean, everything
is like free-floating. So you guys can just do whatever you
want here. Whoever buys this yacht, could just change it up completely if they wanted to. I love it. All the ceiling panels are replaced.
Obviously, the floors refinished. Is it LED lights? Yeah, LED
lights, dimmable lights, everything is upgraded.
Everything has gone through. So this used to be in the original
Helm Station here interior - right? So, yeah, like originally like this dark piece or
the black piece on top is actually where your electronics and your instruments
would have been or where there used to be and they were removed because nobody's driving
the boat from the interior anymore. And they're just using
it as a living room. But do you still have your engine controls
right there! So if you want it to, you could probably have an
interior home again. I remember - I think it was on the Horizon that we saw this
openable thing that had a TV inside. It actually might be something you
could do here. So if you wanted to, because pop-up might be not working, because you still have all this stuff in
there, but maybe you can do like an open, openable and have a TV here and you
just close it up. Would work pretty well here. Actually, if you guys haven't seen
that video can check it out right here! If you watching it on the mobile
device, if you watching a your TV, you're not going to have a pop up there. So I put it down in the
description as well. So if you don't have a pop-up up
here, it will be in the description underneath the video. So we have the upper salon, which is
a really good size. The flooring is gorgeous. Can get over the
flooring. Beautiful! Really pretty. And they did a great job of restoring
all this wood here - looks gorgeous. Yeah. It's beautiful. Keep in mind. 1971, this boat is 40, 50 years old. This boat is older than I am! 50 years old! But it's
not as old as Rico. No. Just quickly here on the left-hand side,
when you walk down towards the lower salon, we have our 12-volt breaker panel, with all the switches and then as
well as the shore off and generator switch over and our gauges for the high
voltage and the Kohler generator remote control right there. Before you guys see this, I think what we are
about to see is my favorite part of the boat! Don't look! It
really feels like a condo on the water. Like really, really
beautiful. Right? Come on down. Yeah. This is probably my
favorite space. How spectacular! It's so bright, it's so airy, and it just like got a second, basically
a second living room. It's amazing. You also still have this whole space
here, which you can do a breakfast bar. You could put a little like extend
this bar out, put some, you know, some high chairs here. I mean you
just, this whole space is open. There's a lot here you can do with your
imagination to make it more your own. And if you do entertain, For example,
I just want to show this. This is all open! Completely. So there's no problem communicating
with anything from the upper salon to the lower salon. It's
amazing. I mean, it feels like a loft. It is a loft on the water. And another thing
you could do actually over there is make that a bar with some high chairs.
Yeah. So when you're sitting out there, you looking over here and
someone's cooking and entertaining, I think it's a really unusual
to find something like that. Just really cool. Amazing. So
all of this seems like it's new. There are custom built-ins! All
these cabinets are... There are some nice closures. ...solid woods, custom built-in's
really, really well done. It's a whole workshop here. So the owner must be very handy!
Another large TV mounted there. Drawers underneath as well.
Soft closing drawers. Yep. Love it. Um, that's a really small TV. Then we have a, another
couch again. It's sectional. You can change it if you if you
want to. Yeah. And you can also do like a sleeper sofa. So if you
want to accommodate more people, this is a great, you know, great area to... You can have an extra for kids
or something to be able to, to have more people on board
if they go to the island. Yeah. Check out the galley? Check
out the galley! Alright. Come on forward. I mean, we have the
dinette here, which is great space. You can easily sit with eight people
here, put some chairs on the side, have an inside dinner, but you
also have upper living room. I don't know how to call that upper salon, which you can also put up
beautiful dining room table there, If you wanted to have like a Thanksgiving
dinner. Yeah. I mean like a formal dinner. There's so much space on this boat. It's
amazing. You have a freestanding fridge. Domestic side-by-side fridge! Good size. Storage up here. All of these were redone, you could tell. It's great. Yeah. So all of that is
storage! Trash right here. Yep. There is no dishwasher, which
you could probably add somewhere here. You could do one of those smaller
ones we have if you want it to. Yeah. Other than that, it's got... You have a toaster oven and I think
there's a microwave down there, right? Yes. Maybe your proper coffee machine.
Four a burner cooktop. Great kitchen. Look how huge the sink is. Yeah! It's massive. And you have a double sink. The view from here from the galley is great. Then just, it's
a really great for entertaining. I want to host a dinner here. You have overhead hatch up
here so you can open it up, get some cross breeze when you're
cooking. So you don't have, a fan here, but if you're
cooking here and this is open, that's your natural fan. It
goes right out. So that's great. And ourselves with some sliders there
by the sink, I didn't notice that. Storage sliders - yeah! What's over here Rico?. That's the access to the
generator slash engine room. Okay. So we can do that later! One of the access points! And that's
what we're going to do in the end. Cool. Go forward. To the forward stateroom?
Yeah. So kind of different. You have a little smaller, bunk beds here for kids or smaller people. And this comes up all the way up to
go to the Bow, as we guys showed you and think is a pretty good access. That's going to make me feel pretty
safe going, going forward underway. This is kind of cute actually. I could
see if you have kids or grandkids, this is going to be their favorite
room. Like how cute is that? To be able to even do that. It's awesome.
Really cool. Yeah. And it's still lots of storage below,
like draw storage over there. Tons of... Oh, that's not a drawer, but I
thought it was. Drawers here. Yeah. Great storage here. And you
have your washer and dryer here. Combo and the microwave
right here! And also a little sitting area. There's storage
underneath there as well and drawer. And this has access to? That's just bilge access. Okay. Got it. And it has an ensuite! Okay. How
cool is that! Pretty amazing! Oh, it's a good size. So it's a wet head. So you have your shower head
here and you have your head. Yup. Sink, some storage spaces here. Cool port hole. Right? That, that
definitely has a seventies vibe. It's got a very like nostalgic
feel. I like it. It's cool. But still modernized and super
clean. So it's yeah. Yeah. For someone who is feeling that
nostalgic vibe is going to be a great boat. And I think that even stayed true
to the roots kind of looked like a textile wallpaper. Yeah. They definitely kept the style. Like
you can see all of these as well. That's got, you know, seventies
vibe too. I like it. It works. It works for the boat. Alright, let's go AFT! Okay. So when, when the owner told me he
wants to sell the boat, I was like, why would you want to sell
this? He was like, well, I already have my eye on another project. I guess he really enjoys going through
these projects and giving older boats like a new life. He did a great job. Oh, I missed all
that storage there. Just panned over! Yeah, lots more storage right there. Is it storage or access? Storage! Yeah. Well, look at this.
That is kind of cool. Yeah. Yeah. I love it. That's amazing. It's great! Let's go AFT! To the port side. AFT we have a guest stateroom, with a
queen-size bed. Rico's the bed expert! We have. Big hanging locker! How do you do that? How did you do
this? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. That is cool. Clever. Simple, but I don't
think that's ever going to break. So it's pretty cool. Yeah.
Oh, there's a huge hanging locker. Yep. Pretty cool. Yeah. I like these
closures. They're different. They're actually pretty
great for kids. Right. Because kids with their little
fingers are probably not going to be able to reach in there and actually grab
it. So I've never seen that before, but it works for a boat for
sure. And then on this side, there's something here too. There's
more. Oh no, I don't know what it is. There's a panel here. Oh. Electrical! Breaker panel. And you have your TV. Do you think there's anything here?
Guaranteed storage underneath. Yeah. So you have your drawers and
another spot right there. And it even has a litte, little workspace. You can use your computer and
stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty cool. Switcharoo. On the starboard side, we have a
day head slash head for that, for the guest cabin right
there with a nice size shower. Can you open it? Oh, it was all redone. Yeah. Completely redone. Oh, it's beautiful.
Really cute. New tile, new tile floor. All the wood again refinished...he did a good job... new countertops,
sink and faucet, all that has been redone. Look at
the size of that. I am digging these! This is so cool. I really like it! Right! Yeah. That works. All new ceiling panels
throughout the boat. Yeah. They did a good job. There's
all this storage here as well. It's a good head. Alright. And then we go on all the
way AFT to the master. This is a really big master. Like if this is your condo on
the water or your liveaboard, which you take into the islands and I
mean it's fully, fully operational, right? Yes. God, this is a really nice master. It's not really tall. So
I'm five, seven with a hat on I'm probably five nine.
So if you're six, five it will be a little though, but if you're like six foot this would work. Would work.
Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent! Really nice storage everywhere. I'm
not gonna open it all. That's a lot. Wow. There are drawers right here.
Nice porthole. Really bright in here. And I liked the color choices. I
really liked this light blue it's again, has that 70's nostalgic feeling. I totally agree! Same thing...large bed... on this side basically. You know his and her side, hers
and hers, his and his side. You have a hanging locker here.
Yeah. So this would be my side. Great home office. Yeah. Proper home office! Super
cute here. I really like it. And a really tiny TV. See... Somebody likes to watch TV.
And it has its own ensuite. What's a little different, there is
no head. So you have your own shower, but there's no head here. So I
guess you using that head. Yeah. Same thing. Completely refinished. Yeah.
Pretty cool. Yeah. It's a nice shower. One and a half person shower. Okay. I mean these huge portholes are pretty awesome! Yeah, I like them! And the crossbreeze
of, I can feel it in here. It's just such a nice fresh breeze in here.
Yeah. It's amazing. Yeah. those are really cool. Alright. Okay!
So what do we have engine room? Engine Room! Okay. That's going to be you buddy.
Then after that I'd like to show, the lazarette all the way AFT. We
just have to move some of the furniture. Okay. Yes! because there are brand new tanks. So whoever is getting this, is not going
to have to spend much money on it. No! It's pretty much everything.
Even the autopilot you said... the even what was getting... The
autopilot it's getting replaced! All you might do is
going to be decor preferences. Exactly. It has a brand new
generator. So you can just move in! It's just ready to go! Turnkey! Ready for the summer. Use it to go to the
island, whatever you want to go. If you want to just leave it at
a dock, you leave it at the dock. You can perfectly fine use it
and go cruise! And if you get it quickly, you have a whole summer. You can enjoy it. Alright. You're doing the engine room! Yup. Here we go. Well, you can come with
me there because it's pretty large. Really? Yeah! Wow. So amazing. Serious. You come with me. Is there
a space for us - both? Oh yeah. Oh, it's big! Yeah. Oh wow. What kind of engines are those? Sorry! Detroit diesel! Go ahead! So this is I guess the generator room. If you
want to say it like this! I guess it has a brand new generator.
Forward of the engine, brand new Kohler generator! 28 hours! Okay. Less
than 30 hours on the generator. 28.3 hours on the generator.
Wow. New holding tank. It's an 80 gallon holding
tank. Then we have new rebuilt, fans here. Brand new exhaust
system for the generator. All hoses are replaced. All
filters are replaced. I mean, this boat is a brand new water heater
here, another brand new fan right there as well as here and there.
We have the engine room. Okay. Let's go AFT. Let's take a look
at this again. Please keep in mind. This boat is a 1971. I have seen boats which are five years
old and the bilge is not looking like this bilge is looking. Brand new
batteries, all new wiring, new batteries, which is everything on this
boat has been either replaced, rebuilt or refurbished. Alrighty guys. So we have two Detroit
Diesel V8 92's in here, with each 480 horsepower. And these engines have
approximately 500 hours on them. So they're barely, barely broken
in which it shows. I mean, these engines have not much
of a trace of extensive use at all, which is absolutely phenomenal. It looks like to me either it has been
extremely well-maintained or replaced the sea strainer here. The shafts
right there, exhaust system. As you can see right there, kind of
a batteries here, battery chargers. Everything's replaced again like I mentioned. For a 50 year-old boat it's wow, great. So yeah, with the Detroit Diesels this boat believe It or not, has a top speed of twenty-four knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. Wow. Yeah. Pretty amazing. Let's go
and check out the Lazarette. Lazarette? Okay! Alright! I want to show the brand new fuel tanks. I see you prepped that here already. I prepped it. That's why all this furniture is modular.
So you can actually get to things. Okay. So holy moly. Had to move the furniture a little
bit. That's a fuel tank. Look at this. We got three of these guys here. Three of the same size? Yes. How much fuel is this? Well, why don't we look?
How much fuel is there? Wow. So look at these guys. That's job. Total fuel 1,160 gallons. That is incredible. So what kind of financially... what
kind of project would this be? To do something like that? What do you think? That is a very good question. I mean, we talking like tens of thousands
of dollars... 30, $40,000, easy! To replace fuel tanks on the
boats, especially the older boat, as a matter of fact, actually, any
boat is a huge undertaking. You get to drain the fuel from the
existing tanks, put it into drums, storage them somewhere and have to find
a place for it to put the fuel tank, if you can remove the existing fuel tanks. So you've got to find a different
place to put the new fuel tanks. Wow. And they need to get fit in there. So everything needs to be taking apart
and they need to be properly. I mean, you go see what's all wood shammed
and glass and supports have to be created to put the new fuel tanks in.
As you guys can see, like, you know, a little spaces in between. So nothing
is moving as you're rocking and going. This is a huge job. Yeah. And
then you Polish the old fuel, if you want to reuse it and put it
into the new tanks and it's a big job. Amazing. Ready guys. This concludes our
tour of this 1971, Bertram 74. I hope you found it interesting. This is definitely one of those unique
