hey guys let me show you a paper towel and water magic trick all you need is water ready for the cool magic trick so it's your cloud here and when i put it in the water loud will become a rainbow here you see one balloon and now you see multiple balloons let me show you how to make your own first you need a shade of paper towel and then you fold it in half i'm going to draw a circle now do this and put the blank part on top now trace the picture that you had on the bottom now flip it like this and draw whatever you want on here pizza super yellow pizza [Music] and then it's on a factory conveyor you see a black and white car now you see a car driving on the road first you see a boat now you see a colorful boat first you see abc now you see abc blocks now you see a mysterious portal but now you three really cool water refraction tricks what is refraction you ask well refraction is the bending of light while it passes through a new medium so the light is going through the air and then suddenly it goes into the water all you need is a glass of water and some objects around the house it could be anything but these are the objects i chose first let's try it with a pencil so see it's going here and then it bends and it looks a lot bigger too guys did you see how the water makes it look like the pencil is bent that's really cool right well my pencil isn't actually bent it's just refraction bending of light okay let's test out other objects to see if it works too let's test out this toothbrush whoa it looks so much bigger and it bended too that's so cool but what about chopsticks okay here's a small part it's getting bigger bigger bigger boom well that's super big let's try the other part that's all ready whoa it's bending and it's super big okay what about this comb [Music] whoa that's so cool it's bending so why did it look like the object bends under the water because of refraction on the number two so for the next trick you're gonna need a glass of water paper and some markers okay guys so for this one i'm gonna draw it and put it on the other side and something cool will happen i'm gonna draw an arrow with multiple colors so first red then pale purple and then blue and then orange and so you guys see that this is an arrow well look at what direction it's pointing at it's pointing at that way when you put it behind the water it points the other direction so it's reversed isn't it cool well that's just perfection it's still pointing the same way now before i show you refraction trick number three here's a bonus one look what happens to my face hi what's up oh yeah peace now i'm all better again see now my face is normal it's just refraction now for trick number three okay so for number three you need obviously a container of water some paper and a ziploc bag first step draw something on here draw whatever you want to disappear okay i'm gonna draw a fish like this and then a little bit more here spam and then here yeah here bam perfect fish okay i'm gonna draw its scales like this that this okay there you go and i'm gonna draw it in the perfect definitely drilled into it okay and then i'll put an eye on this side and then i'll put some running away so i'm running away dashes then you're gonna put it in a ziploc bag okay like this okay now i'm done with my fish and i put it in so now i'm going to draw a shark chasing the face a super good shark like this bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam super super good shark okay [Music] super good shark and then since they're in water i'm gonna draw the ocean over here bam next up see what happens when you put this in water this is what happens when you put it in the water so the shark is just chasing the fish and then [Music] boom fish is gone oh this top but when you go down here you can still see the fish but once you move around a little bit the fish looks like it disappears again here's the one my mommy made so it says i heart you now it says are you that makes so much sense right guys i do just kidding the heart didn't really disappear it's still here i love you hi guys today we're making colorful bubbles so you get water and you put them in about one cup of water and you need two tablespoons one okay two so next you're gonna just agitate and mix it together [Music] next we're going to need a bottle and ask for growner to cut it for you like this so i'm cutting it for ryan here so like this doesn't have to be perfect there we go cut next you're gonna need a sock and then you're gonna put the cup inside so now i'm going to help ryan with it so there it is you just put it in like this [Music] it looks something like this [Music] next you dip it in and then you blow [Music] it's gonna blow out and not in okay so you see what creative and put some food coloring all over i'm trying to write high with blue h i now know then i put some of this whoa that's a lot i think that's good take a cotton swab and dip it in the soap you know how your mom and dad ask you to wash your hands with soap to get rid of the grease guess what happens here whoa look it's all clean guys as you see the soap break the fat and the milk so that's why the food coloring spread everywhere okay that was so cool let's try it again but this time with a different design a little bit more there you go okay first put one dot of red in the middle maybe water whoa first ask a grown up for help which is me all right so first we need one and a half cup of corn starch all right open it up they're pouring in here good more more do you see the line where it says one and a half whoa oh right there too much this is why you need help from the grown-ups it's okay it's okay to be messy a little bit you tell me when okay right stop stop okay oh that's more than half now pour this in here it's already getting messy for me i'm gonna do the same [Music] this kind of looks thing flour you know never to eat anything when you do an experiment next measure out one cup of water i'm gonna use green and daddy's gonna use blue all right that's my favorite color okay so probably three drops is enough ryan yeah if you do too much it's going to be too dark so one two three all right one oh that's good just stir it oh these are big whoa look at that mine's definitely blue color how's yours going oh nice next put the water into your cornstarch looking cool wow looks like slime you always look like a slime color yeah if you guys like messes you should definitely make oobleck but don't make a mess intentionally okay don't do that on purpose it's not dissolved i don't feel anything anymore it's all liquid i feel so much this is why you need the help from the grownups [Music] look at this big chunk if it's too liquidy you can add more cornstarch mine needs a little bit more mine's good feels good okay yeah i'll just try a little bit [Music] okay that should be enough all right we exchanged here you help me and i help you oh yeah ryan needs a little bit more too look it's very liquid you know it's ready when it feels hard like this oh it looks definitely ready look at mine too look at this it looks liquid right [Music] here all right ryan why don't you try and touch it and see what it feels like see if i try to stop it punch it see my hand doesn't go in look ah can't punch through let me just see so it's like slime like that it's kind of like it's concrete it's a slime that's not ready yet oh no i dropped mine's on my mind so guys i have a question for you what is this ooh black is it a solid or is it a liquid it's both why do you think it's both because when you stay still in it it like sinks you down and whenever whenever you hit it it's a solid so it's like invincible oh outfit it's invincible but yeah it has a bulk properties okay this is like look it feels like solid right but then see it moves like liquid yeah so i want you to pick up some and put it and squeeze it between your i feel hard or hands it's hard look when you clean your hand it feels hard like a solid i'm making ball right yeah i'm making a ball looking like a ball what happened when you let go it's liquid yeah i'm so confused which one is it you try right it's both obviously ah seven years old is teaching me you try you pick up a whole bunch and then just squeeze it don't leave any space does it feel like a solid or a liquid yeah but you let go [Music] what happened it becomes a liquid yeah so it's not your typical solid liquid right so if i want to keep it solid i keep have to do this forever yeah oh it smell bad i'm getting mad yeah so this is really cool this is actually called a non-newtonian liquid [Music] isaac newton oh it's not a typical definition of a solid liquid and gas it's a solid or liquid and it changes its property based on pressure so if you apply pressure it behaves differently mommy you try to punch it okay mommy's gonna try to punch let's see one two three [Music] that's super hard like concrete that's so fun whoa look at ryan if you let go it just dropped down it looks like slime huh yeah it looks like ice cream melting yeah what plate would that be matcha flavor maybe a rocky road you can make your oobleck even more exciting with glue wow which one which one the two kinds i want to do the bigger one okay i get the purple one oh that's a lot [Music] it's enough right oh it's on your hand now oh this is the only way i can mix it that's right i added way too much glitter all right i'll do right well i need a lot more i need a lot of glitter wow look at that i like it the only thing it's hard next up put the empty cups in between and now we use the paper towels to put it like this and then our other one like this and this this place like this okay let's try this one first and then you do this and then you do this [Music] and this and this and last one like this now we just have to wait and see what happens look the water's already traveling up the paper towels [Music] guys it's the next day look what happened the water went up the paper towels and went down and mixed the colors together [Music] look and now the cups that were empty now has water see what happened ryan the water travels up and then over and then this cup the water travels up and then also over right so how did the water travel up the paper towel here's how it happens the water color travels up the paper towel by this thing called capillary action so do you remember how plants where does the plants get the water from yeah underground that's right from the roots so the plants get water from the roots but it has to travel up the plants so against gravity so it takes the water from the ground and travel it up just like how the paper towel takes the water from the bottom and it travels up now you see how the empty cup changes colors yeah okay so here you have blue with yellow when you mix blue and yellow together what did you get i got green that's right and here you have yellow mixed with red what do you get orange yeah blue and purple's like a galaxy color that's right yeah so what happened you mix it together that's so cool right yeah now let's take all the paper towels and see what it looks like [Music] here's what it looks like when we take out the paper towels like all the colors looks like a tie-dye t-shirt yeah wow you guys see looks really really cool and look what happened look you gonna make it vibrate like this all you need is cornstarch and water aqua okay so you're gonna need two full cup of corn starch one one two now my mom's gonna put in food coloring for me so this is optional you put any color you like ryan likes purple so i'm putting in and one cup of water don't forget to always ask a grown-up for help and never eat your science experiment correct yeah here we go time to mix [Music] okay so while ryan's mixing i'm gonna actually make my own different colors so again two cups of cornstarch one two i'm gonna pick red red okay and one cup of water three oh look it's looking red already time to mix we're having a agitating mixing party mommy is really kind of working oh nice yeah wow okay it's done whoa look at this it's like slime yeah it's so liquidy i'm gonna make a ball now i have a ball oh it's melting ball oh whoa look how it's melting through my fingers yeah it's so cool how much can you pick up ryan i got a lot wow whoa that's so cool hey ryan do you know if ooh black like this it's a solid or liquid i think it's a solid and it's a liquid it's called non-newtonian fluid oh so ryan already knows that's right so what happens is when you pick it up it flows down like a liquid right we if you squeeze it really hard it feels like a solid yeah i'm i'm trying to pick it up like really weak and using barely any energy and it's really easy why are you trying to punch at it and what does it feel like when you punch at it [Music] it's really hard to punch it is because it's a solid yeah okay ryan are you ready to make other colors yeah all right one two three snaps so there it is we made all different color ooh black so we got pink we got orange we got blue we got yellow and green now let's make a vibration party okay guys we got a giant speaker yes we're gonna need something with a lot of bass so we can see the uh black vibrate now before we begin the music's gonna be very very loud so there we go get noise cancellation the sound waves will make the oobleck dance differently hey guys the holidays are coming up and you know what would be perfect a science experiment with holiday ice hands they're made out of ice and my job is to rescue them santa claus right here but first here's how to make it yourself take it away mommy roll the clip the first thing to do is gather all of your favorite holiday things i also have some confetti and some sequins and you can add in some fun glitter next grab a pair of gloves and then just put in your favorite things here i'm gonna put in a christmas tree some other fun things stocking little cute reindeer some fun christmas patterns put it all in here some glitter then add in a few drop of food coloring i'm gonna use green drop it in there then fill the glove up with some water [Music] fill it up three fourth way once you're done tie it with a rubber band hey here's my first hand okay for my second glove and we've got all this rescue hey santa claus he goes into the glove cute little bill into the glove some fun christmas trees some christmas words then some fun glitter who doesn't like glitter then a few drop of red food coloring then add water once you're three-fourths done tie it with a rubber band [Music] okay there's my red one look i see santa claus you guys see it once you're done just put it in the freezer there it is i put in the freezer and keep it overnight once it comes out here it's all frozen you guys see it it's rock solid hard the red didn't stay very well should have added more red food coloring but it comes out pretty good do you guys see santa right there next open up the rubber band and then cut and pew [Music] very careful fingers and thumbs once you're done you'll have something like this isn't that cool look be a snowman okay here's the other one just puke and cut away [Music] look they're santa okay and it looks like this but guys look i broke off the thumb oh no so okay it's so fun work there's santa okay challenge mommy put a shark inside this balloon and this balloon is filled with ice and i'm gonna have to free the shark from the balloon but first here's how mommy did it first grab a balloon then get your favorite toy carefully put the toy inside the balloon did i mention carefully once the toy is inside fill the balloon with water oopsie carefully not to splash water everywhere the balloon will get bigger and bigger then remove it and put it on the tray next tie the balloon so the water won't spill out everywhere next put the balloon in the freezer until the water inside becomes ice okay first i'm gonna try to get rid of the balloon and also don't forget to ask a grown up for help i have mommy here hi what it's not breaking it's super strong [Music] i'm gonna take the balloon off and you won't even see a difference wait guys i think i see the shark inside somewhere in the ice first i have my goggles just in case okay let's get started [Music] i already crafted it yeah i see the shark already i'm gonna try to use warm water it's working it almost got the shark out he's right there but he's finn and his tail is stuck i think that i can use salt bam no [Music] i hear the it looks like inside and now we're gonna put it together so first you're going to need 1 4 cup of vinegar and don't forget to ask you're growing up for help hi next app food coloring i'm going to use let's add the vinegar into the volcano whoa three two one whoa it's coming out oh a blue volcano now we're gonna make rainbow explosions first add vinegar up to here [Music] next add a couple drops of your food coloring [Music] okay next add your baking soda three two one whoa we just came out oh moore's coming back up and well now for the blue one go whoa there's so much blue is it gonna come down right let's open this half and a half but ryan why don't you tell me when to start okay okay and keep going keep going all right that's plenty of ice cream for both of us yeah and if you want some sweet ice cream then add a bunch of sugar yeah so this is for the just the flavoring right you need the sugar and also vanilla extract okay you think this is enough yeah a little more probably it's okay you can do two scoops if you need to all right uh-huh all right sprinkle sprinkle maybe just one more scoop i think all right okay all right mix it i almost spilled it so we're making vanilla ice cream so we're gonna use vanilla extract this adds the flavor of vanilla and it will smell like vanilla ice cream too oh yeah yeah oh yeah all right can you shake it shake it shake it and now you can close the back too build it up so you can spill it now we can shake it i'm shaking but it's still not ice cream it's liquid look we have to freeze it with ice and salt thank you ryan for helping next we're gonna need some kosher salt all right sprinkle them [Music] now let's put this inside what do you want to do okay after that so next we have to shake the bag from five for 10 minutes then we get ice cream yeah that's a long time so we recommend you guys take turns and she's almost ready it's done now okay it's done look at all that water oh yeah feel it what [Music] smell it i don't think i can smell it through the bag you can smell it i smell it a little messy does it smell like a vanilla ice cream it does it does let's take it out look at that whoa homemade ice cream oh yeah yeah yeah and it's super cold look at that we made a little too much but this is we're not done yet guys because you know you could eat this ice cream as is but you can add toppings right like whipped cream gummy bears strawberry and sprinkles of course okay so this is yours ryan and this is daddy okay okay all right let's add toppings obviously gonna add this of course ryan always loves adding the whipped cream i like adding strawberries [Music] oh my gosh are we eating whipped cream or ice cream add some sprinkles for mine [Music] all right here we go yay we made our own ice cream in the bag now it's a fun part we eat it yeah i don't even know if i'm eating the ice cream mmm it's good i'm trying to get the the thingy oh i think i got it maybe i gotta get the ice cream now [Music] i think we didn't add too much salt out of the sugar that sweet which is good right good and a lot of times ice cream is too sweet [Music] but how does this work mommy good question ryan and daddy so when you add salt into ice it lowers the freezing point of ice okay so if the freezing point of ice lowers it has to melt right well in order to melt you gotta get energy from somewhere where do you think the ice got its energy from hmm [Music] any guesses from the cream i was going to say that yeah in order for the ice to melt from the salt the ice has to get energy from somewhere it takes this from the cream in the bag so if it if you take energy away from this cream of the bag it will freeze into ice cream what do you guys think it's so cool yeah punjabi that's exactly why you know during winter time a lot of people would add salt to their paveway or you know in the ice outside their yard you know they can drive so it lowers down the freezing point of ice and the ice will melt bye guys thank
