hey what's up with Papa Roach and you watching loud why uh everyone grommet here from loud wire again it's Wikipedia fact or fiction time with the entirety Papa Roach thank you guys so much for coming so sup what's up I rated you guys wikipedia page wikipedia pages personal ones BAM songs albums all of it okay so let's see what's real and see what's fake okay this should be interesting yeah says Papa Roach began in January 1993 when jokowi you met Dave Buckner on the fake of ill talk of a Vacaville high school football field and you guys started talking about music yes that's true that was it that was those fact yeah we uh we both play it on the offensive line and he was like twice my size would you say crush me you know and then we fell up you know we knew that we love both love rock and roll and eventually I remember after like varsity football camp we came back and we were like you know it was just his senior I believe my junior year and on and and we told the coaches we're like when I play rock they're like good luck with that buddy and all our friends clown us but you know Oh Rob enrolled in general yeah and also said you were joined by bassist will James and you actually had a trombonist yes yes three guys trying to make Scott or something uh I mean we're just like [ __ ] Punk whatever and that lasted for about a month you know just somehow it's like you know when you think about the inception of the band you know it's like when the sperm hit the egg yeah it's just that moment yeah Bert and then we're like no bad idea terrible once nowhere to go get them ready go get Jerry they're like we need a guitar player gonna be a rock band yeah it says you guys entered the school's talent show performing Jimi Hendrix's fire but you didn't win the town show it was we were terrible we thought we I swear man we were we did the school talent show and uh yeah well we got down I like we took we took we bagged it dude we got this they called us some other girl that was like extremely talented you know good luck I play piano and sing and yeah boring yeah yeah it's like with Papa Roach we've I've been able to go through all my embarrassing mistakes with this band you don't have saying the best way to do anything I'm saying for everyone to see so [ __ ] it no secret was that girl well for probably like 20 people to see Farrah Geri it says that you were introduced to the band through your girlfriend who was a fan yes Papa Roach but you were apprehensive about joining because Jacobi Dave and we'll all went to different high schools that's not why that's not fiction now you got participation yeah alright the reason I wasn't excited about it at first because I was a metalhead and I I had seen them play without a guitar player from bonus for the tram bonus and didn't really understand how I could possibly fit into that band what jacoba kept pestering me like over the the next week you know almost every day dude come on you don't have anything else to do come and play just like okay are you just like it's not gonna work yeah I said now things didn't work out says Papa Roach's first tour van was called Moby Dick and inspired Jacobi's stage name Coby Davey this is correct this is a true how long did Coby date laughs oh well you know I'm saying anything probably tell about the van or the person the person Oh me Kobe dick I'm here come and tell our second record love a tragedy you know I just I just remember reading all the interviews and it would say dick says hmm I'm good with that how about we just go with my birth name you know they had way cooler Jacobi Dakota Shaddix I mean way cooler name super interesting birth name anyway though no more Dave I mean I don't give you the dick if you want it it's a yeah well you've retired the dick so yes the dig is retired i bronzed it sitting on a mantle of the house this is 1996 you replaced original bassist will James who had become heavily involved in church summer camp he went to I remember went to church summer camp and came back and was just like not feeling Papa Roach rock and roll and I remember met Tobin he was just slapping the bass three-quarter scale at Pearl based a little short little mullet dude just and this I mean literally when I met him did he was like how much I gave me four years only three years so he's like 13 years old but just a [ __ ] just murdered the bass and I knew it I'm like that's that's the dude I was supposed to play music with you know I stay in the booth and okay yeah did and that was I mean ultimately really and truly that's when the band was really born yeah you know what I'm saying I was like when we became who we are now you know and said gotcha the last resort video I was primarily meant to show the secret lives of people and how people may not look depressed but still are I think the purpose of that no that's false I believe I feel that that video the whole kind of premise behind it was to take people from where their don't want to be which is alone to together with their friends at a rock show and I'm saying that was the whole mo of that video not necessarily like let's shrink ace depression you know I mean I remember yet have the people in the crowd and gifted them at home remember that very clearly from way back in the TRL days that was at that video was so popular I remember TRL called us and they're like you have to come here and retire it from the chart they like give us a sledgehammer at a videotape way to like crush it we play this anymore we're like why okay remember that did you make like that was it like 50 60 days it I don't know a lot of days on many days it was up and on another note with that song I can't remember any other like popular rock song that got played on the radio and TV that was so heavily censored like yeah it's like completely cutting off the lyrics like like don't give up if I do you even care if I yeah and and that was it yeah just like thrown out completely [ __ ] yeah dude oh well I guess it is what it is you know it's a last resort sampled and we recorded a riff from Iron Maiden's Genghis Khan that's pretty good Oh false complete icon set to I voted on the piano and then transcribed it I never heard Iron Maiden probably at that point well since I've heard Iron Maiden a lot now and it kind of sounds like every one of their songs has got that melodic yet it sounds like an Iron Maiden I mean Maiden essentially is like they just take a lot of that classical and put it into the distorted guitar riffs you know when you hear that and it's I mean sense cuz I wasn't a maiden fan when I was younger sure when we wrote that or any like I wasn't really a metalhead and then once everybody started telling us that we ripped off made and I was like well might as well check out maiden and now I've become a fan like we've done tons of festivals with Maiden we did a we did a bunch of shows in Germany with them and I remember the first time we showed up to play with him I'm Tripp and I'm like did these fans are going to hate us like German metalheads and we got up there and we play at a track we open the show with a song called to be loved and the crowd just went [ __ ] crazy and I'm like totally opposite of what we expected we were like but so we come offstage and we were like what that was amazing man and what they were like oh you plays a song from the WWE we loved press media also German metal edge we loved wrestling and it's the same song and I'm like okay cool the song scars it's about Jacobi's horrible night in Vegas that changed your life and during performances you often talk about how that song saved your life that was deaf that's all true okay yeah that was definitely a turning point I think in our career that song in particular I remember when we were writing that when I remember Jerry you demo the guitars for that and and we all heard it we were just like that's different we have to travel down that path it's it's a it's new it's fresh it's bold and whenever we do that we always seem to connect deeper with our fans and and that song was huge for us and I remember our ANR at the time Jenn Littleton took it into a guy named Jordan sure the president of the company and played him the songs and heard getting were murder and scars and a couple of the tracks and at the end of their you know little meeting he's like this band's dead what am I going to do this band there's I just don't hear it and then we turned around and sold 1.5 million records for his ass so they deal with it oh he did he liked it mm-hmm in 2010 your former label Geffen Records released the greatest hits compilation however you guys told fans not to buy it that is true true bad sister of Chima that royalty issues no because we were releasing an album at the same time which was a live album and they were sort of capitalizing on the work that we had been doing to promote that out oh it took a cash grab kind of things to the labels and they were trying to line it up as buzz was getting yeah they got it out before ours was finished no fans didn't buy it all right good all right last one for you guys the idea for the still swinging video came from your son to go uh yeah he loves zombies yeah he was this fad of zombies and we were trying to come up with a video concept for that one and pitched the idea to uh what's that guy's name Jason no no Jason Luke Berg did I can't remember the director uh after like at dig oh he came with the eat we just we said zombies and came up with a video concept I killed it yeah that's gonna be a super roar and being able to kind of like work with your son and creative is like seven yeah it's like 70s our data I think we should be he'll cut my boy Jagger will come up with video concepts for every pop or something yeah he does he's like dad I see it like I'm just running through a forest and this guy's chasing me he's always in the video yeah yeah I got my own trailer do you know it's cool it's classic I'll play with demo songs will also see radio but Wow Lincoln super intense about visualize he's intense but he is definitely an intense individual that's all this my boy yeah thank you guys somebody coming thank you for playing our game fear by the new record Papa Roach everybody
