well it's wonderful wonderful typical springtime in the climate basin i think i got a bunch of ice and snow packed between my duels because the same shaking and shimmy and like crazy that's what happens it'll get packed in between the duels and it'll it'll really really really shake you to death until it gets flung out of there anyway i've got got uh trying to get some of this stuff done i've got got some people lined out i actually got some guys lying down to do a few things in the shop while i'm gone some work because the shield must go on being with the recent theft of the generator i've got some i bought some security stuff security cameras and all that stuff we're going gonna try to get those installed before we leave but i gotta go over there i was putting that little ford ranger together the other day and damn snow sticking in my windshield wiper blades i have to stop here pretty soon get out and knock along but uh i gotta go bleed that clutch this morning and put that o2 sensor in it put the u-joint in the front drive line and that'll pretty well wrap that thing up and get that out of there and i got a 75 the 7520 that i rebuilt the engine and it's got blew a hose or something you got to run out there to that feed lot and see where that that thing's at and then the 7810 they were trying to same outfit's got a 78-10 he said the pto turns on for 2-3 seconds and it shuts off and sounds like it's got a pto speed sensor that's usually what happens on the pto when the speed sensor the controller is not getting the speed signal from the from the from the speed sensor it doesn't know so it's it'll default and shut it off trying to get back to that i'm probably going to start video and hopefully i'll make it there today guys i want to start putting the pack are together but i i got to pull over here in a little bit knock this damn windshield wiper blade off let me see if i can speed it up maybe i can knock the snow off of it with the speed of the windshield wiper arm maybe i don't know that's helping a little bit yeah that's working knock some of it off anyway so yeah winter wonderland i've seen it do this when i was a kid i've seen it i haven't had it in a long time but when i was younger uh in the 90s i remember we've had snow we've had it so a foot or two you know in march and april so it's nothing abnormal just the way it is but hopefully i'll be back with you when we're filming the uh pack our cylinder head all right guys we'll see you then well folks we're still waiting on the head gasket and here's the spacer plate that should have been inside 386 in here for part two [Music] i'm gonna start cleaning the block deck surface up on this one i'll put the spacer plate here to the e model cat uh this poor guy he's had bad luck with his trucks here lately there's the new pack our head here's the new pack or the new e model head here that's the email cat head and i want to show you guys this if i'm man enough to roll it over on its side let me put this right here let's see if i can manage this i wanted to show you the vowel on this one [Music] crane there we go now i can show you what happened on this one here [Music] okay here's the head that come off this pack our mx-13 this is an epa 10. [Music] see that valve all recessed in there let me get my my phone out of my pocket and i'll show you that's a little better in it see you get a little better view from the side see how the valves all sucked into the head and the head's cracked one two three see they marked the machine shop i've seen that too but i figured they'd fix it but they said they wouldn't even touch it because of the cracks and look it's got cracks all over it i didn't look that hard here it's cracked here these are all the cracks the machine shop they said it's junk that's what they said they said get another head so anyhow that's what we're here to do we got a piston pack we got to put in it and this one's getting sold i talked him into i said i would that we ran the piston down the bottom dead center and the cross hatches look good even on the number one cylinder even on the number one cylinder where it failed the crosshatch is still looked good on it it had no blow-by at all you know and he said replace the one where the part of the valve seat come out and see the turbo is locked up too and i'm going to try to save him money and see if we can tear this turbo apart we're probably probably going to wind up getting a turbo but that valve seat come out of there see that valve seat come loose was what happened and uh i think that's probably what's in the turbo and it's got the cone stuck in the turbo for the vgt so we got to get the oil drained out of the pan on it and dump the oil we got to start cleaning up the block deck surface get the piston liner out of it all that kind of good stuff so fun times all right so here's the new pack our cylinder head that one was fifty two hundred dollars this e model head this is the new email head that's the new e model head right there but we don't have the head gasket kit for it yet so we're gonna look on the top bar we'll work on what we got parts for i gotta drag this out of my way though all right so okay let me uh drag this box and pull this crap here out of the way and we can get the hood open and start working on this one sleep at some of the four sleep this was my mess and [Music] then all that plastic valve covered or wiring harness crap on these things that's just what a bunch of you know all right so you can see the cylinder here uh i don't know if you can really tell get up here and climb up here where the valve seat or whatever come apart in there on that head it dinged it dinged that piston right there and i think it dinged it again right there yeah there's a notch in it right here let me get that light right spot here all the rest of them i mean look at the cross hatches and i mean they look beautiful so we're gonna leave it alone and replace this one oh i know i'll hear about that from the audience but that's what the owner wanted to do he's a good guy he watches my channel too this guy does i said you know something goes bad on the other one he decided to keep the truck you know that's all on you i want either one hole the cylinder head job and all that but i mean he he says he's gonna sell the truck so he's you know they they claim that these packer motors are 750 000 mile engines and this one's got 860 000 on it so i think he i thought you did all right [Music] okay let's start pulling pan bolts loose gotta get that one rod loose if you didn't popped out of there [Music] well i'll be all right [Music] let's set her down right here for now [Music] that should be an anti what do they call it an anti uh let's take a little closer look at this piston here that should go around right here like that other than that i mean just from the damage from the top there other than that it looks fine so okay get the other one ready to go oh we gotta get the liner out i know you guys are gonna laugh at me and all the professionals are gonna laugh i'm figuring out how to do it without my wire puller i got a big long punch and a jack and i got up against the bottom of the liner let's see what happens here just make sure i don't hit the cam or something [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay i got out from underneath it just before i took a bath because once those liner rings clear all the water comes right out the bottom now if that was a dry liner no way now we got a good mess down there all right let me get some floor sweep and clean up the mess down here and then we'll start cleaning up the counter board and we'll put the new liner and press it in all right guys so we got that liner pissing out of that hole i just got done talking to the owner and well the truck driver the guy that drives this truck i've known that i've known lonnie for we were just bs in there and i we got to talking about lonnie lonnie says when i when i used to work for the strawberry nursery the guy he used to work for used to haul strawberry plants for the nursery during harvest and i got to know the the well the guy that owns all the the case international mx m175s with the plastic balers he owns the truck that a lot he's the guy lonnie used to work for well now lonnie's working for this guy but anyways lonnie was just telling me goes well you've rebuilt a lot of engines that i've been in and i i've just given him heart he's a good guy and i told him i said yeah you're hard on man i see here when i first started uh phil had a an old fl 120 freightliner fld 120 that had an e model cat in it and i end framed that one and then they bought the western star with the c12 i never end framed that one that one there i think the deepest i went on that c12 was after he got it the front structure was leaking real bad i remember i had to pull uh yeah i pulled the front structure and resealed it that's about as far as i ever went on that c12 and then he bought that pos international 9900i that had the cm871 isx comes in it had 000 when he bought it on it was a united rentals heavy haul truck and it didn't he didn't get 30 000 miles on it and it it kept lonnie kept calling me and saying that the blow-by filter he said it keeps stolen this crankcase pressure code and he says i've i put a filter in it every week and i said if you put if it's saturating that filter every week you got a problem man well number five piston carbon packing on the ring lands the carbon gets back in the you know in the ring land grooves back behind the ring and shoves the ring out and the ring can't go anymore because the carbon from that wonderful egr system packs those ring land grooves up in the piston so once that piston ring gets out shoved up against the liner and can't contract anymore back into the into the piston like it's supposed to it breaks the ring so it had two two broken rings i think on number five hole at 300 and i think it had 360 000 or something like that on it but anyway so here we are in another truck that lonnie had so anyway uh i think he's going to keep the truck now because lonnie said he really likes this truck and this guy really likes lonnie he's a good guy and the employer they're gonna keep this truck he said just go ahead and do them all he's gonna he's gonna order the other five pistons liners rods and mains so we're gonna do them all this one probably won't be put back together until i get back from vacation probably tomorrow we're going to come in and start putting the e model back together but so what i did here is that's the e-model cam right there so i got the liner and piston out of the box and there's no damn liner o-rings in it [Music] pack r didn't sell liner rings with their piston kits i called the guy that done way more of these than me and he said yeah that's a that's a pack our thing he said you pretty much got to piece everything together on them so anyways um what we're going to do real quick before i leave tonight i don't know i just want to see if that valve seat is in here i don't know if this thing will come apart in a halfway decent manner or not we're definitely going to try will get some kind of special block thing over the net of the clamp i'm going to mark this turbo with a paint marker and we're going to see if we can pop this off of here [Music] okay i got the heat shield off sorry there's not enough room on that little bench so got this soaked down with penetrating let's put a little oil on there it really really gets stuck together where is my penetrating well that is a damn good question oh i was almost standing on it we almost got her to split into here there she comes i guess you still froze up there we go finally got her off of there okay there are the veins that back around there that'll seal that up okay yeah there it goes see there it goes is this stuck i think we can clean this up and probably get it working again for him i've got him working before there it goes just hung up and i bet other than that i mean guys i've i've got these i've seen guys replace these turbos we'll pull this apart and we'll clean this up i mean you can kind of wonder if we can get a turbine wheel you can see [Music] the turbine wheel has got just a little bit of damage on there [Music] i bet that damn scene in it what that does this cone see on like a six liter power stroke or like a duramax lb7 or l some of that i think i don't know if the llys had that style of turbo but the lv7s had the same style of vgt turbo as a six liter power stroke they had an oil driven piston with an arm in it that hooked to the unison ring and the unison ring moved the veins in and out well see how this works [Music] i can't really move it now but ah when this moves up up and down it changes or it changes see the veins here i don't know if these these aren't really veins but see this here it changes the relationship here's what it does [Music] see as these get narrower and wider that you know narrow here the bottom and wide here at the top they're kind of a completely different setup than like a [Music] most the time when i found on them is where this slides back and forth right in here you clean this up right in here and then it's fine but i don't know man on this one look for the i don't know if you guys can get it anything for these or not see where it damaged the turbine wheel on it [Music] i mean this is a five thousand dollars for the turbo five grand it's just crazy [Music] who's making this one anyway it's a pack r turbo really sure no no i was gonna say that's a whole set turbo that's a whole set turbo i don't know if we can get a number off of that what's the impeller look like the impeller looks great in it golly man i've rebuilt a lot of turbos if you could get just a turbine wheel you know and clean up the vtt part of it there's nothing wrong other than that you know and then that thing had run you know put a set of bearings in it but anyway i've i've gotten some of these or the turbine wheel wasn't the vgt part here just stuck on them and the guys went you know wanted to change like on the is x same same thing that's on is x and put a five thousand dollar turbo on it you know or four thousand dollars with cummins is about four grand put a little penetrating oil on there and it'll see it just just needs cleaned up and this will work the vtp part of it'll work fine but it needs a turbine wheel surely i could get a turbine wheel for that and zip a turbine wheel on there put a set of bearings in i'm gonna look on the internet tonight see if i can find something but that's a vgt that's a vgt turbo guys on a whole set same thing on an isx cummins same actuator and everything actually well guys i'll be back tomorrow when we're working on that the e model cat [Music] uh we're gonna actually go get my liner press and i'll pull the rest of these liners and pistons out of here and uh we're gonna see if we can get the e-model together tomorrow we'll probably put this one back together the rest of the way after we get back from vacation [Music]
