P-51D Mustang vs BF-109K-4: Dogfight | DCS WORLD

hello valued viewers I hope you're all doing very well and today's dogfight is between the classic p51d mustang and Germany's bf-109 K4 curve first the final battle of a mini series we've been doing the Mustang won its last round a few weeks ago in this battle here taking on the focker wolf 190 D9 Dora we found that in all aspects the Mustang just worked better as a dog fighter that's not to say the door is bad it's an excellent if not the best Interceptor but the P51 just won in a dogfight situation the 109 came from this match with the Spitfire and it's a bit more controversial the Spitfire won the 1v1 battles but when it came to a group V group battles it turned out the 109 one every time against the Spitfire we think that's because the Spitfire has better turning attributes so in the absolute 1v1 when it's a pure term match the Spitfire comes out on top but when it's a group V group the High Altitude boom and zoom capability of the 109 just seemed to come out slightly on top and because of that and in real life group situations would have been more prevalent than the more rare pure 1v1s we've therefore put the 109 through so the final is a p51d versus the 109 K4 first statistics we'll be using the p51d-30-n-a Mustang weight with dogfight fuel 8946 pounds maximum engine horsepower 1720 from its Packard V 1650 3-7 giving 423 horsepower per tonne weapons 6 12.7 mil machine guns in the wings maximum speed altitude 440 miles per hour and the all-important wing loading 38.1 pounds per square foot and the coup first loaded with dogfight fuel 6841 pounds more than 2 000 pounds less maximum horsepower with methanol water injection from its db605 engine of 1825 horsepower just over 100 more than the Mustang giving it a power to weight ratio in this configuration of a staggering 587 horsepower per ton more than 150 horsepower button more than the Mustang weapons one anti-bomber 30mm mk-108 cannon in the prop Fairing and two 13mm mk131 machine guns in the engine cowling above maximum speed at altitude almost identical at 442 miles per hour Wing loading almost identical 39.47 pounds per square foot guys we have to make some predictions we haven't tried this because we don't like to do it scripted so pure power to weight and acceleration is on the bf-109 it's got more power to weight weapons are gonna be about equal but the 109 was much more calibrated as a bomber Interceptor whereas the Mustangs guns are probably more suited to shooting down Fighters speed is the same Wing loading slightly favors the Mustang any predictions guys this really is Clash of the Titans this one is it's like both aircraft have each their own buses and minuses against each other and it's the pirate who is able to utilize them the best is going to come out on top of the stock phone both aircraft have variable maneuver flaps I should say the 109 has front slats whereas the Mustang doesn't I think the Mustang will have it because the Almond is more optimized for taking down other Fighters whereas the mesh Schmidt is optimized for taking down bombers with a heavier Armament so the Mustang would should be more accurate at longer ranges and that I think will be telling 100 yeah they actually tend to think that the Mustang will win the 1v1 and a message group fights is that because of his power to get up higher and loiter above the other guys yeah and then like boom and zoom one thing I've learned that's really important in visual fights is the visibility you've got a bubble canopy from the p51d which is brilliant visibility but the 109 has an old-school early War type canopy with terrible visibilities there's something to bear in mind that's definitely true um I think that advantage of the power of the measurement I think is negated somewhat because the Mustang is aerodynamically more efficient the thing is with the speed against the Spitfire the measurement was able to disengage from the fight and re-engage well because the Spitfire didn't have the speed to catch it whereas the Mustang is much closer in speed so the 109 won't be able to disengage with quite the same degree of Freedom as it would do similarly with the Mustang the Mustang would have more capability just disengage from the fight and reposition if it needed to compared to the Spitfire against the 109 welcome in viewers round one of Simba and his beloved P51 I'm going to take the pf-109 Simba will merge then we'll fight we're starting at I think 16 000 feet after that there are no rules three two one go isability or no visibility I'm Coming For You Simba 1825 horsepower in real life they tuned them up to 2000 horsepower some of these yeah the later engine model of the K4 the DC engine that had like 2 000 horsepower um the engine was slightly more optimized for high altitude I think the DC uh engine DCS we have the db605 with the Mustang as well they have the 150 octane fuel put into the the Merlin engines and that gave them close to around 2 000 horsepower as well we haven't had any training time women in practice time viewers though because we're so tall in The Limited moments are all fresh because they will see somebody flying into a website it was absolutely pushing that thing to the max you were saying about the the k4b hard to fight the Mustang is also pretty hard to fire as you saw there it's like oh that's a big round that hit me that was a 30 Mike Mike right in your wingspar Simba yep are you dead Simba oh yeah I'm dead yay all right we'll take that guys next the Boomer Zoom Master himself has seen her in the P51 and good old Matrix in the Beat f-1092-1 battle commence but you don't have to uh this point I'm just trying to see what advantages when I was fighting December I noticed I definitely noticed a whole Tower difference like an outflow in [Music] yay what's every like really managing your AirSpeed with the Mustang it's got to keep your eye on what the cave was doing I find the K4 a bit more forgiving if you lose a wing it gets it back quicker Mustang very hard yeah that's true K4 does have those flats and they help aren't you [Music] seen it being very mature keep doing well within his turning envelope [Music] it makes it a bit more leeway that plane there can take you know a bit more unusual attitudes a bit easier but they are ready to be high still the bike would always go downwards viewers if they're they're pulling hard the bike will always have to go down these conservations I'm six thousand feet but mature viewing from uh could control flying to both pilots and almost done any snap holes in the city that I would do five thousand feet even big jets viewers will always get lower and lower lower they're pulling hard no one's really seen an advantage yet yeah cables won that fight you can see how Cena was watching the nose of the people and when he saw it coming around he had to exit I've always been here short Matrix yeah I took a little bit good deflection shot I was oh I don't know viewers I love a Mustang but I don't know I don't know if I can win this the problem is that Coopers is playing the Mustang at the Mustang's game [Music] that was just good patient flying by maybe just hang right with him I would have snapped before that [Music] it's been very conservative degree which is a very tough attorney luckily the Mustang's engine has not been hit it's um what it is it's a winged trailing something it's with their fuel from away oh Jesus Christ is said just try things you can't outrun him problem is kind of running there's so much power in that cool person it's slick maybe not the ultimate German fly in the ultimate German playing the curve first and fire in the Mustang fights boys doesn't get much better than that viewers I've got those video slacks do their job viewers reversal for the Mustang I've got it oh dropped a wing but I had enough energy to recover very easy to do in a Mustang viewers to drop away a very fine envelope maneuver focus it not to black out oh perhaps up on judges aspect Road's aspect here we go definitely a hit oh there's some solidness there guy monkey I don't know that's pretty good armor I don't think it's freaking invincible of a and it's to be honest a bit better at it some more Thoroughbred I say I put fuel loads low I've forgotten what about like 20 in this aircraft and low as well so they've both got minimum fuel it's gonna make an extra no difference the fuel the amounts I cost [Music] himself to the Limit [Music] but I could just see how that 109 controls itself a little slower oh with a wing loss oh and it's going to be capitalized on so there is a wing on that lamina flow Wing viewers [Music] so I couldn't capitalize good strings from zimba and you know strong enough positions always always got that all right viewers uh almost every single match was run by the 109s and we're not biased here we swap around if you're gonna put these two up as good as the Mustang is the 109 is so beautifully suited for this combination but it's just freaking unbeatable I think the 109 is definitely more docile on the edge and that gives it a big big Advantage I think it's for Leading Edge give you the advantage across when you end up in a turn fire you always end up slow and then the advantage of the 109 kicks in and gives you the edge when did the 109 come out during the war and this isn't even the best dog fighting 109 this is the early ones were better at dog fighting this is uh this was an intercepted version so before I lost the wing in this last fight like I had I was slowly coming around the circle on Matrix in and we were just stuck in a turn that was fire you were with and then so yeah when I went to cut the circle I held it for a minute and then the wing just finally gave out and I was too low when the wind gave out but it's not unraitable yeah you can have to pay four in a turn at some speeds and it's just the fact that the K4 has the crime rate I guess overall it's a I think it rates a bit better than the mustang mustang just has greater you know A1 offer to control really well uh you know like how a [ __ ] wolf does it just obviously not as good as a [ __ ] rope but it still
