disney plus please welcome owen wilson hey owen how you doing jimmy i'm doing well having me yeah great too um nice to be here virtually of course i wish that i was there with you kind of because i like when we sort of get that chemistry and get that flow yes sitting right next to each other but we'll do our best today yeah we will where are you right now i am where am i yes i'm about five hours west of you ah you're in hawaii you're in maui right that's where you you are yeah yes i'm in maui but um like i say i i'm just i'm crushed that i'm not with you guys you really miss it out owen you know um do we have that video this is right behind our theater we had a full car fire going on here today i mean it was absolutely beautiful it smelled like plumeria flowers it was really something to see that's hollywood for you you're giving me goosebumps [Laughter] you know what's funny like being here in hollywood you assume that they must be shooting something when there's a car on fire and it turns out just just a good old-fashioned car on fire so you're doing well it looks like oh boy you look happy you look you actually you look cute your shirt is very iron did you do that yourself i didn't it's one of those uh ones that sort of stays kind of looking okay so i just sort of fish it out of the closet when i have something important like today button it up and um but thank you i mean i think it's a nice color almost angelic i would say hey are you uh are your pals woody harrelson and willie nelson on the island right now woody is actually working but willie's here and um they're actually filming they were doing a documentary on him so i was actually they interviewed me for the documentary a couple days ago and then i saw him yesterday we played some dominoes and nice uh i might see him even later today but um but yeah it was fun doing uh you know the thing with like willie like because he was such a big you know such a big deal kind of growing up and my parents loved them and being in texas and uh that i still sort of can't quite believe that i'm sort of friends with them it feels like a seventh grader who knows like the the star quarterback and and then he lets somebody so he knows his name and says hello to him and sometimes eats lunch with them and keeps the other guys from picking on them [Laughter] but yeah he it it was great and so in the documentary they were just kind of asking me about you know all the poker stuff and um and then of course you know there's you know marijuana which is still sort of you know that that of course is part of the story we can't you can't whitewash that no no and um and so but i still have a thing from growing up that it's it's sort of a secret of like you gotta hide that so uh but but it's i mean there's nothing to hide it's it's uh it ruins it in a way doesn't it yeah yeah it does i mean it sometimes takes some of the fun out of it is i mean you know when you're kind of a bit you know you know it feels like kind of being back in you know ninth grade sneaking out and stuff so yeah i've been snorting bath salts actually just to you just to try to do something a little different you know what about willy now that it's is it is it legally in hawaii now has it been decriminalized or legalized there it is yeah i think it's the same as california okay all right oh wow and does that give you an advantage over willie when it comes to playing poker does the fact that he is baked out of his mind it doesn't you you i i would think i think that was you know maybe you know years ago that was my game plan but it hasn't worked out that way i um i tend to lose uh but maybe he's just a lot better at playing high than i am yeah and he's um you know i've you know with dominoes and stuff i just get he he really can um he's great at domino's i mean he's been playing since he was a kid but uh i sometimes talk about where we play poker is called it's in sort of the back of his garage and he calls it django's orchid lounge and um i sometimes when i walk in because i know i'm going to lose i'll say well here i am where dreams go to die back in uh django's orchid lounge which was something that my dad used to say there was this hamburger place that me and my brothers loved going and my dad kind of was like he didn't really love the place the jukebox was always broken and he'd say that place was really depressing he'd say it was like for dreams go to die and so saying that line applying it to now losing all the time and dominoes willie kind of has such a great ear and he's like oh i like that and then had you know wrote it down and stuck it up on the wall and then actually made a song with that line and i think it's even sort of you know the title of it and that you know when i think about my dad the idea that he said something to us as kids kind of kidding around that then i pair it back to willy and he puts into a song that's a great i mean that sure is real my dad i bet you're um how about your boys you got how old are your boys now i've got uh ford and fenner ten and seven and they've started back in school uh and started kind of doing stuff finn the seven-year-old he actually he dj'd a party uh a couple weeks ago he's interested in djing yeah wow it sounds it it sounds crazy he went to um he has dj class like uh twice a week that he goes to and he works on his beats and stuff i'm not kidding and um and so he d dj'd um it was a friend's uh like a christening or a birthday party but it was mostly grown-ups and uh finn was all excited to have his dj kit and uh and ford went along with him kind of as his hype man and uh to kind of you know technical support and because which he needed because when he saw all the grown-ups there he kind of got a little bit nervous and and decided that he was only going to play beats and he had prepared this great rap he loves will smith and he has this will smith song just the two of us so he had that whole thing memorized but when he saw all the grown-ups he got a little bit nervous and then ford kind of talked him down and he ended up rapping that song and it was a big hit and they had a tip jar out and uh they did quite well wow award yeah ford ford kind of as is uh you know security and as i mentioned height man stuff ford and manager ford decided the split would be 50 50 which finn was thrilled at he thought it was good but i mean that's a pretty bold split for a manager yeah you'd have to go back to i think colonel parker with elvis finn is really like with being the dj and doing the rapping he's like the fresh prince and dj jazzy jeff combined does he really is does he have a dj name has he come up with something special he he he does it's dj kid cat kid cat um yeah kid cat i like that i actually it i like it too i had another name for him um that he he rejected he's very stuck on being dj kid cat but i think he i think it's great yeah yeah what was your name what was your suggestion i i can't remember it was i was trying to think that it was a it was something that had lightning like it was something a bit more uh that finn thought was a little bit uh too much so yeah i wanted to stick with dj i'm just imagining you right now dipping into dj kitkat's tip jar to go over and play dominoes at willie's house [Applause] owen wilson is with us loki is his show we'll see an exclusive go anywhere i'm not taking you for a stroll along the promenade much less an apocalypse oh mobius come on what could possibly go wrong we got to properly test this theory well here's a fun theory you lure me out into the field and then you stab me in the back and that's a theory i don't want to test i never stab anyone in the back that's such a boring form of betrayal okay i've studied almost every moment of your entire life you've literally stabbed people in the back like 50 times that is tom hiddleston and owen wilson in loki which is on disney plus and uh i boy i really enjoy that show i know you're like you're not you didn't really know a whole lot about the marvel universe did you going into this i didn't know a great deal about it um it was um in fact before we started filming tom was nice enough to sort of kind of walk me through the whole mythology and we called it the loki lectures yeah and um i mean we spent you know more than a few days going over it but he was very kind of you know patient with me yeah tom told me a little bit about this last week he was here on the show he was with us and he said um that yeah he had visual aids he had clips prepared it sounded like some kind of a community college course on loki well that's kind of what it was like and and i think if i had had teachers like tom i would have done better in school because he was very understanding i mean he could tell when i was fading you know it would get to be kind of late afternoon and he'd say oh and maybe we um maybe we pick it up here tomorrow and i'd say okay yeah that sounds good i i am getting a bit tired and um uh and and i'd go home and one night i guess you know he felt that maybe i hadn't paid you know as much attention as as i should have that day and and there was a knock on my door where i was staying and you know it's night time and and i open this there's tom and um he's you know we're going to continue the lectures it was a bit like you know jess piccoli with mr hahn shows uh up at his house because tom said he goes do you have your loki notebook and i was like no i i left that at marvel and he's like well i've got it for you we went until about midnight that oh boy now uh i don't know if you've seen this owen but um tom this happened i think like this probably happened definitely before you guys worked together i don't maybe even before you met i'm not sure when you met but um here is tom hiddleston doing an impersonation of you owen wilson yeah okay hang on hang on hang on you know is not this simpler um you know like it's just not your your your natural state um you know you know it's the unspoken truth of humanity that uh that you know you can crave in subjugation [Applause] what do you think i know a lot of people do you a scale of one to ten what do you give tom that's pretty strong i thought that was pretty good i liked the uh i also felt the sort of word choice was was good that last line oh i praised that you're owen wilson is the best of all of them though i will say that thank you and this is uh this is quite an honor i don't know if you've had this before but you have your own action figure now the uh mobius marvel legend did you have any say on on what this looks would look like uh a little bit i mean they they showed it to me and and i had some notes actually the first the first one they gave me um they made actually a little bit too buff kind of where i felt it was not quite believable um and i felt like that they had were they the in the early uh incarnations they kind of were missing that mischievous twinkle uh that uh that that they then put into that character yeah i think they got me i think they did pretty good i don't know that they got the twinkle um but um yeah i mean they got you and they got your stick yeah even like your arms appear to be quite a i mean i don't know if you've done the hands are really big too yeah no they could do better they could do better i think but that's pretty yeah the i mean of course you know when you're going to be part of you get the call from marvel you're excited to be a part of this mcu and and i was excited to hear what my super powers were going to be but you know that they told me it was like well it's not so much super powers he's a very good listener and and his uh sarcasm i guess is mobiuses well you can see owen wilson
