tutorial by one of my fans and we I did a video before showing you how you can use this thing to create lush harmony and that stuff on vocals but now I'm going to show you how you can use it as an instrument an MIDI controller so let's jump right into that so I hereby have a rhythm here let me go ahead and jump to us part of let's see here okay right here so the first thing what you want to do if you want I'm going to show you two versions here I'm gonna show how to use the instrument as a midi controller mean meaning you can play your notes type more folder from waves you can play the notes so it harmonized with the vocal tract I'm going to show you how to use it as an instrument so let's start off with a controlling a MIDI so this is using over acts as a MIDI controller so I'm not sure how your dolls are set up but I believe all if not all does come with the ability to add a instrument a track or what you call a MIDI track and also an audio track so I'm simple right so what we're gonna do I'm gonna add an audio track here in studio one I'm gonna go under audio and I'm gonna add a stereo track here and I'm gonna call it the old Vox here so let's go ahead and do that I'm gonna add the track there let's get the music pumping while we're doing this so I have an audio track here a stereo track you can use a mono track or I'm using stereo and I'm gonna go into my effects tab over here I'm not sure how yours was set up and I type in oval and there is / øx here so I'm gonna drag I'm gonna put oh rocks on this audio track here so I'm gonna load it up and here we have a Vox here loaded up on the audio track right now I want you to create a instrument track now so we're we're gonna use the instrument track so I'm going to go to a track here I'm gonna hold an instrument or MIDI track I'm gonna say a new instrument track so I'm gonna add that here I have some MIDI cards already played for this song this song is the key of E minor so technically you're gonna be playing from C major then it goes to E minor down to D major back to C major that's the flow of the card so if I want to make the Hartmann that's what I'm gonna play so that this is what I have here so I'm gonna take these MIDI track here and I'm gonna put it on my instrument track so let me go ahead and do that so up here this is autonomic audio trap with wave over aux on it and at the bottom here I have the instrument track now we're going to route the vocal from the vocalists we're gonna sidechain that 2d / øx that's gonna feed the sidechain and then we're gonna control the nose with the MIDI so first is first I'm gonna go on my audio track I'm gonna bring up the waves / øx and I'm gonna set the note source to MIDI because we're gonna use a MIDI keyboard here and I'm gonna go I'm not gonna mess around with this end here we want to go to the voice and we're gonna switch that to a sidechain okay now I'm gonna go ahead and activate sidechain up here there it is turn that on so Ozarks is ready to receive sidechain signal just like any other plug-in from lead vocal now before I go ahead and send a vocal to that side I'm gonna come down to my instrument track here I'm gonna drop the input because this instrument track is not receiving anything it's not brought it to any plug-in somewhere to go down to my my input here and I'm gonna drop the list here here we have H delay and we have a Vox so I'm gonna choose a Vox and now as you can see I'm a getting some MIDI signal here which I'm playing the chords and this is now routed to over ox so all I need to do now is send vocal I'm gonna send a vocal sidechain to Oh rocks so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna isolate the vocal so you can hear this I'm gonna play the vocal and just the bass here now I'm gonna come down to send on a vocal track I'm gonna go on a sidechain and I'm gonna go down to mono ox and this is the society sidechain option right here so I'm number I'm now going to send a vocal to over ox and I'm going to unmute the MIDI tracks here so let's hear / øx playing the chords now called Satan so here we go now you can hear Oh Fox is playing the MIDI notes that you're playing on this MIDI track here it's only when the vocal is singing or what's it's gonna play if I turn if I mute the audio Oh Fox is getting nothing now what can we do with this I can go on Oh Fox and I can go down too let's try octave up and I'm gonna turn up the volume a little bit here so here over and you're gonna hear the MIDI notes playing the chords here we go and I can go through different settings so that's how you use / øx to harmonize your lead vocal here you can play around with the effects here let's see if we can mess around a little bit here let's take out a voice let's see here go to eat a stri octave sub here [Music] got mess around this trick then I can take that track and I can send it like choo a reverb here to make things a little bit more interesting here it's just just [Music] so that's how you sidechain and use over acts as a MIDI controller now let's go on to the second way hole we can use / øx if we want to use / øx as just a plug-in instrument like a piano or a synthesizer here's what we do we do the same process we have over auxins already on an audio track and we already have the MIDI here so instead of using sidechain now we're gonna be using we're gonna turn off the sidechain and we're gonna be using ov ox as just the keyboard so I'm gonna switch the voice from sidechain I'm just gonna go to track here and I'm gonna leave the note source to MIDI because we're still using MIDI controller here and I'm gonna I'm gonna let's mute the tracks and we're just gonna play the / øx we have the MIDI notes here so we're gonna hear it over ox by itself so let's go ahead and hit play and I'm gonna bring up the volume here [Music] so here you're using old box now as an instrument [Music] so let's see what else we can do with this we have harmonies we have chords here and let's try major pop [Music] you can change a sound here there you have it so you can use / øx as an instrument here and it's coming directly from the MIDI let's see if we can mess around with some effects here could add an EQ [Music] they add more effects here delay [Music] and we can play it along with the vocal here like the normal instrumental six sick that our [Music] so there you have it guys so that's how you use the wave box as a MIDI controller and instrument remember a simple step if you want to use / øx control harmonies and that stuff just go ahead and add a Vox on an audio track and then you add a MIDI track and then you route the MIDI to the OV ox on the audio track and then you go ahead and set it to MIDI no source do not mess around with the synth part experiment that down the road but if you want D / øx as a Kaka's are the more folder of a coder leave it on internal and then we go to the voice and we switch it sidechain because we're gonna use vocal to feed the signal in the OVA and we're gonna play the nose with the MIDI we enable the sidechain here and then we send the sidechain or the bus from the vocal to the sidechain if we want to use the OVA as an instrument we turn off the sidechain we switched it from sidechain on voice to track and leave the note source as MIDI make sense and then you can play your notes and you can do your stuff turns into a keyboard so I
